00:00He literally flew in for those 24 hours just to see me, just to support me, be there with me.
00:05And he literally was like, I hope you know that you're the only reason why I came to New York.
00:08I really just want to support you and be there for you.
00:10So my goodness.
00:11That's the conversations people don't see.
00:13And it's not for them to see.
00:14It's for me to see and for me to share with people.
00:17One thing about it, Nick is going to make a way.
00:19His schedule is dump packed.
00:20If he got to cancel the show, if he got to move some things around and be there for me
00:23to support me in that moment in time, he would do just that.
00:26No arguing, no questions.
00:28Like, he, nah, I'm going to be there for a manager.
00:29Like, I'm going to, I'm going to go with her.
00:30Do you see our faces?
00:32Yeah, our faces.
00:33There's no way that the internet thing, I'm going to give that up.
00:36Just to please them.
00:39My girl.
00:39No.
00:41The time is here.
00:43Go off, sis.
00:44Fam.
00:45Today, we are joined by Alandria Carthen, a.k.a.
00:48Bama Barbie.
00:50Woo, woo, woo.
00:50All right, she stole hearts and honestly stole the whole show on Love Island USA Season 7 with her poise,
00:57her relatability, and a love story.
00:58We were all rooting for.
01:00Shout out to Nicolandria Nation.
01:01I know you're listening, Nicolandria Nation.
01:03Shout out to you.
01:05But on her own, Alandria is just as impressive off screen.
01:08A proud Tuskegee University graduate, Alandria is balancing her corporate career with modeling, brand partnerships, and building a personal brand
01:16rooted in authenticity.
01:18Alandria, welcome to Go Off, sis.
01:21Thanks for having me.
01:23I'm super excited to be here with you guys.
01:25Thank you so much for being here.
01:26And yeah, the episode, we've been talking about HBCUs.
01:29We've been hearing from alumni.
01:31And we want to hear how Tuskegee shaped you as the person you are today.
01:36Well, as we all know, I went to HBCU, Tuskegee University.
01:38That is.
01:39Tuskegee, I don't know.
01:41It's just so filled with such rich history.
01:43Being the first in my family to go off to college and things like that, I feel like Tuskegee was
01:47more so like home for me.
01:48A lot of my, I guess, my peers, I don't really have like people to rely on in my family
01:52to show me like how to get through college and things like that.
01:55So I really feel like my professors up a classroom truly took me under their wing and showed me how
01:59to navigate the college space and showed me how to navigate what life looked like after college because no one
02:04in my family could do that.
02:05I literally was navigating that whole reality on my own, which is the hardest thing I've done thus far.
02:10I would literally go home every single summer and didn't know what an internship was, didn't know what a co
02:15-op was, and would go home and work plant jobs.
02:17Because that's what my parents do.
02:19That's what my family do.
02:20My advisor literally called me one that was like, you got to, you know what I'm saying, have a more
02:24competitive resume.
02:25You need to get equipped as far as like getting in with these Fortune 500 companies and taking up some
02:29experiences with them to try to like get you more equipped for what the outside world would look like post
02:33-graduation.
02:34I did actually like a co-op with Clorox for six months, a semester off and did that and immediately
02:39became so competitive in the job market.
02:41I had like five offers before I graduated.
02:44So I feel like Tuskegee definitely, yeah, I, it blew my mind because I would literally go home and be
02:50like, you know what, I'm working plant jobs.
02:51And I will always work plant jobs to show myself if you don't take this education seriously, if you don't
02:55take college seriously, this is going to be a reality.
02:57Having to lock your phone in a locker, having to work in hot environments, having to stand on your feet
03:0212 hours, like this is what your reality is going to look like if you don't decide to take Tuskegee
03:06seriously.
03:06So I would purposely put myself through hell every single summer working those jobs because that's what my mom had
03:11to do to raise three beautiful women.
03:13So like she would have to work jobs that she did not, didn't really like, but she had to provide.
03:18So I would purposely put myself in those positions every single summer to keep reminding myself, this is why you
03:23need to get that degree.
03:23So I would have to keep reminding myself year after year after year, like this is going to be you,
03:27get to college and like make connections, network and put your best foot forward and get that degree.
03:32So yeah.
03:33Good for you for taking it serious.
03:35No, for sure.
03:36I had no choice.
03:37I knew what not getting my education would look like.
03:39I saw that firsthand.
03:40Your degree was in supply chain management?
03:43Computer science, information systems, but I switched over to supply chain my junior year.
03:46Before you were elevating people in the elevator industry, how do you feel like Tuskegee and, you know, your HBCU
03:52experience prepared you to enter into that path?
03:55Because you don't really see a lot of us in the sales industry and something that specific like the elevator
03:58business.
03:59How did all of those experiences help you pivot to that lane?
04:02I did not ever see myself work in an elevator industry.
04:05I didn't even know that industry existed.
04:06I met the company at one of our career fairs.
04:09And I was just walking by being nosy.
04:11I'm like, oh, there's elevators.
04:13I'm thinking they looking for engineers, mechanics, not really knowing like, okay, what about the sales side?
04:18Who is selling these products to these companies or to these customers?
04:21So I'm walking by being nosy and the guy was like, well, you look and go on, come over here.
04:25I was like, oh, okay, let me just go and see what y'all have in the offer.
04:28So I'm talking to him.
04:29He was like, you're very personable.
04:30Like you can really relate to a lot of people.
04:32I really feel like you'll be really great for a sales role.
04:35Mind you, I've never taken a sales class at Tuskegee.
04:37I feel like Tuskegee showed me how to adapt to those type of environments.
04:41Imagine going from an all-Black classroom to be the only Black person in an office.
04:46It's like I fell into like a mini depression post-college when I walked in my first day and I
04:50looked around.
04:51Mind you, the elevator industry is a male, like a white male dominated industry.
04:55So I walked in, I'm like, all right, I'm the only one that looked like me.
04:59And then I look around, it's like, there's no women either.
05:01Like we had a GM, she was a woman, but it's like, there's no women.
05:04And then there's no like people that look like me.
05:06In that moment in time, I have to remind myself, Tuskegee literally prepares you for moments like this.
05:11Literally, like you knew this was going to be a reality post being an HBCU grad.
05:15So I was like, you know what, let me lock you in and just try to remember who I am.
05:19The value that Tuskegee instilled in me and to remind myself never to shrink yourself in the presence of others
05:25to make them feel more empowered.
05:26You get what I'm saying?
05:27Let me show them why I'm, you know what I mean?
05:29I want to prove myself why I should be here.
05:31So obviously coming in, they were super nice to me.
05:34Do not get me wrong.
05:35The customers were taken to me a lot.
05:36Like it was an amazing experience.
05:38When I was in those spaces, Tuskegee reminded me, like, although you're the only person that look like you, still
05:42show them what you're about.
05:43You came from Tuskegee.
05:44You came from greatness.
05:45Show them what you're here for.
05:46Alandria, you could sell water to a whale, honey.
05:48Like, you could have that some time.
05:50Oh, yeah.
05:50I was knocking them goals.
05:52I was knocking that out of the park.
05:54I'm a Howard graduate.
05:55So I totally relate to like leaving Howard.
05:58Okay, H-U, you know.
05:59And I relate to that post, I call it post HBCU depression when you leave there and you're like, oh,
06:05the world don't look like this.
06:06And I guess in the spirit of homecoming, because, you know, that time of the year, what were your Tuskegee
06:12homecoming experiences like?
06:13It blew my mind.
06:15So every year I was like, I cannot wait to homecoming, you know what I'm saying, homecoming season.
06:18Just getting to meet and network with like alumni that graduated years ago that's extremely successful.
06:24I'm like, what are you doing now?
06:25How did you get there?
06:26Just trying to like get all the knowledge I can as a student.
06:28It was such a beautiful experience seeing such educated, beautiful Black people come together just to celebrate for a whole
06:34weekend.
06:35You're going this year, though?
06:36Like, can you tease the fit?
06:37Can you tease anything about?
06:39Can't really tease the fit, but yes, I do plan.
06:42I do plan to go this year.
06:44The fact that you guys got to experience that like every day, I'm jealous.
06:48I'm so jealous.
06:49Were there any other favorite traditions from Tuskegee that like stuck with you?
06:54We would have SGA, which was just like a mini homecoming.
06:56Even convocation in the chapel.
06:58We love the band.
06:59We always show them so much love.
07:01Were you on any teams, any groups?
07:04Yes, I was a part of Next Step Up, which is basically like a mentoring program where we'll go to
07:08the nearest high school and try to mentor the kids there, teaching them how to study for the ACT, the
07:13SAT, showing them the ropes to like applying for colleges, apply for scholarships.
07:17And I really took to that role because me being a first generation high school graduate and a college graduate.
07:23I saw myself in those kids to know that I can be here now that I have the knowledge that
07:27I didn't have years ago.
07:28Now that I can apply that to you and help you navigate this new space.
07:32I just felt like, oh, this is my purpose.
07:34I also worked in a tutoring program at Tuskegee.
07:36I wasn't necessarily a tutor.
07:38I couldn't really teach people like things like that.
07:40I can only teach myself, but I was teaching ways to study or to be better.
07:44I was part of the street team, which is basically like help with the overall morale of Tuskegee when it
07:48comes to game days or anything upcoming.
07:50Those are the three that come to mind.
07:52And the part, obviously, like honor societies.
07:54Oh, yeah.
07:55I was trying to be, yeah, trying to be as active as possible because that's how you get acclimated.
07:58That's how you find your village and your community in the college space, especially when you go there and not
08:03really knowing many people.
08:04But unlike minded people through those small little groups.
08:07It makes sense why when you came onto, you know, the scene when we all saw you on TV and
08:13then seeing you navigate the fame and the spotlight, it's like she was built for this.
08:18Like you seem very like confident and comfortable already.
08:21You knew who you were.
08:22I'm glad I came across that way.
08:24That's good.
08:24That's good.
08:25That's good.
08:25That's good.
08:25One of the things we want to talk about is that during your time on Love Island and since you
08:31left the villa, you have received so much support.
08:33I don't know if you're feeling it already in this room, but you have received so much support.
08:38from Black women.
08:39What has that support meant to you?
08:41If you can put it into words.
08:43I'm literally getting chills just thinking about it.
08:45The support means everything, especially like coming out post-villa to a lot of the craziness that I came out
08:51to.
08:51Just knowing that I had so much support from women from all around the world, especially my Black women, because
08:56it's like when I was on that show, I knew I was, like I said in the past, I knew
08:59I was representing more than just myself.
09:01I'm representing Black women as a whole.
09:03Going on there and knowing my self-worth, my value, and just practicing self-acceptance.
09:07I truly feel like that helped me.
09:09I just feel like people wasn't always so kind to Black women.
09:12So knowing that I have so much support from my community, or just from all women as well.
09:18I always felt like I would be famous one day, but I never really imagined me actually being in this
09:23space.
09:24So knowing that I have so much support from women that look like me means everything to me.
09:28Truly.
09:29It really, really does.
09:30It means a lot.
09:31I'm like, we was not playing about you, like, from beginning to end.
09:35I know I stressed y'all out, y'all.
09:39As wild as the stand-up can get, it was beautiful to see a bunch of Black women come together
09:44and be like, no, no, no.
09:45No, no, no.
09:46Not too much on our girl.
09:47Not too much on our girl.
09:47You see what I'm saying?
09:48When I come across a certain way or say things a certain way, I'll be like, she didn't mean it
09:52like that.
09:53She meant this.
09:53I'm like, oh, you get me.
09:55You see me.
09:55Like, I don't have to explain to you why I said this or what, you know what I mean?
09:59You just automatically get it.
10:00And it's just like, it just feels so, I just feel so seen with you guys.
10:03Some people are trying to write me off and read me like, oh, no, I don't like the way she
10:05said that or she did that.
10:06I'm like, what I meant?
10:08Like, what?
10:08You know what?
10:09I have to forget.
10:10Like, sometimes we have to remember we live in two different Americas.
10:13My people get it.
10:14You get what I'm saying?
10:15So, sisterhood and friendship is such a major deal at HBCUs.
10:19And I feel like we really saw that on the big screen with your bond with Shelly on Love Island.
10:23How important is sisterhood to you?
10:25And how do you feel like you formed that stronger at Tuskegee?
10:28For the majority of my life, I had, like, one best friend.
10:30Mind you, we met in 2005.
10:3220-year friendship, right?
10:33I have another best friend that I met in middle school.
10:35A 10-year friendship.
10:36So, like, one thing about it, sisterhood, friendship, all those things, I take to wholeheartedly.
10:42Growing up with my two sisters, I always knew sisterhood was what meant the most to me.
10:46Especially with them always looking up to me and things like that, just being their own personal role model.
10:50When it came to, like, finding my own community outside of my own family, that's what I took to, like,
10:55my best friends and things like that.
10:57So, Tuskegee showed me, like, the true value in friendship, sisterhood.
11:00Finding like-minded people that kind of build you up in moments that you need that.
11:03So, someone to uplift you.
11:04Even in the moments that you're feeling discouraged, I relied on my friends a lot or heavily, even post-show.
11:11Just kind of so they could remind me, like, girl, this is who you are.
11:14Like, remember who you are.
11:14Remember how you're supposed to move.
11:16Just seeing, like, how they build me up in moments, I just feel so torn down, especially about the world
11:20when I first came out of the villa or whatnot.
11:23Even before all of this, they would be so on me, like, you need to post more.
11:27You need to do this.
11:28You need to do that.
11:28They always see me bigger than what I was.
11:31You know what I mean?
11:31Like, obviously, I love being in the elevator industry and things like that.
11:34It was like, we could see you doing this.
11:35Like, you know what?
11:36Take this picture off your Instagram.
11:38Make sure you post once a week.
11:39Make sure you do this.
11:40So, they will always, like, build me up to be this amazing person and always support me.
11:44And even after all of this, they're so supportive.
11:47Friendships, nothing changed.
11:48Sisterhood, everything is still the exact same.
11:50I know that was one of my fears.
11:51Like, if I get big, like, what would that look like?
11:53Because I've seen so many people have other experiences.
11:55Like, you know what?
11:56I don't think my girl's going to do me like that.
11:57I don't think my girl's going to be weird after all of these things.
12:00And they're still the exact same.
12:01I'm like, you know what?
12:02I go to the top.
12:02Y'all go to the top.
12:03Yeah, girl, you don't post.
12:04Even now.
12:04To get out the hood, please.
12:06No, literally.
12:07We need those friends.
12:08We need those friends.
12:09Honestly.
12:09Yes.
12:10So, my girls, I cannot wait until, which soon.
12:13Y'all will see very, very soon.
12:14They're going to start popping up with me.
12:16And I cannot wait.
12:17They have been here for the long haul before all of this.
12:20They're still here.
12:21They're going to always be here.
12:22I got them forever.
12:23The girl who was holding it down for you on TikTok or Instagram, one of your friends, she did the
12:27dang thing.
12:28That's my best thing.
12:28Absolutely.
12:28She was like, after I got out, she was like, girl, I'm going to log out.
12:31You didn't stress me out too bad.
12:33She was so stressed.
12:35We done logged out my whole Instagram.
12:36She was like, forget this.
12:37I need to take a break.
12:38But she did extremely, extremely well.
12:40I had a whole group behind all of that.
12:43But yeah, she ran it all.
12:44But as far as like pushing content and getting activated, they even made me my own personal email.
12:49So brands can like reach out to me personally.
12:51Mind you, I didn't even ask them to do that.
12:53But they were like responding formally, she's still in the villa.
12:56She's, you know, she'll get back to you as soon as possible.
12:58Like setting me up for success while I was still on the show.
13:02Like I've never seen such women come together in support of another woman.
13:07And they're not looking for like, they're not looking to be noticed.
13:10They're not looking to do nothing.
13:11You know what I mean?
13:11They're not having their hands out.
13:13They literally just want me to be so big.
13:15They want me to be so successful.
13:16Even now, like in my spaces with my fans and whatnot, they'll put certain things in there.
13:21Like she just posted or go vote, you know, whatever, whatever.
13:23Like I already got some people behind me, some friends behind me that want to see me win
13:27and don't care to be at the forefront, don't care to be in front of the cameras.
13:30They just want to see their girl do good.
13:32You can't put a price on that at all.
13:34I love my girls.
13:36Yeah.
13:36Well, I'm sure we all want to know genuinely just like, how are you doing?
13:39Like, how are you feeling?
13:41And just like, how are you handling the public attention, the criticism, everything that comes with it?
13:46Because, you know, we worry about you sometimes.
13:48We worry about our girl.
13:50We want to make sure she good.
13:51Honestly, I'm in a way better headspace.
13:54One thing about me, I'm going to listen to my little gossip playlist and just keep reminding myself, like, girl,
13:57get it together.
13:58And I have like such an amazing team around me.
14:00Obviously, I have my support from my friends, my family, my team, built my team brick by brick.
14:06If you've got like people around you that want to see you win, that want to keep on investing in
14:10you to make sure you get into these places that you want to get into,
14:13it's just like, I'm too blessed to be around, to be stressed.
14:16You know what I mean?
14:16Like my team keep me so, so busy.
14:19I don't even have time to really think about anything, you know, which I'm so blessed.
14:23Because it's like, I'd rather be busy doing my thing rather than just sitting around, sulking and whatever.
14:28But I'm doing way better mentally.
14:30I'm in such a better space.
14:31I'm doing really good.
14:32So no need to worry, guys.
14:34Good.
14:34Good.
14:35Way better.
14:36We needed to hear that.
14:37It's all happened really fast, right?
14:40Like opportunities that you're getting are incredible, but also with that comes everything that Sandy's talking about.
14:46So I think that's why people worry.
14:48I really feel like the love, definitely, I waste the hate.
14:50One thing about it, I'm like, you know what?
14:52Or if I see some craziness about me, I'm like, you don't know me.
14:55You know what I mean?
14:56Like I just laugh like, oh, okay, whatever.
14:58Like I'm living good.
14:59You tweeting on your little cracked iPhone couch somewhere and I'm living great.
15:04So it's like, I'm not allowing that craziness to get to me.
15:08You get what I'm saying?
15:09I'm not looking for approval from a random off of Twitter or off of social media.
15:14I'm blessed.
15:14And like, even when I see those, I'm like, you know what?
15:16God bless your heart.
15:16Hopefully, you know what I'm saying?
15:17You'll get to a place where you don't have to spew hate.
15:21One thing about it, you'll never catch me being hateful towards anybody.
15:25I don't play a dirty game.
15:25That's not how I move.
15:26I'm just going to pray for you.
15:27But then I just ask God to soften my heart towards that person or that situation and just keep it
15:31moving.
15:31I don't do the negativity.
15:33Uh-uh.
15:34And the Southern, bless her heart.
15:36Bless her heart.
15:37That's all you got to do.
15:40I was looking like, oh, God bless her heart.
15:42She don't know no better.
15:43I know.
15:44And I feel like we felt that.
15:45So like, shout out to you for just like staying true to yourself and like you were always assertive.
15:51You kept your composure.
15:53So like you said, making sure you put that.
15:55I don't know if you were able to put the gospel playlist on the show too.
15:59Just like to just get your.
16:00Not as much, but I didn't pray.
16:30Okay.
16:31So relate to not thinking that, you know, this was going to be what my husband looked like.
16:36When I was 20 years old, if you had asked me that, I would have said, no, I'm going to
16:40be married to a black man.
16:41But, you know, I fell in love with somebody who treated me really well and who treats me like a
16:46queen and is frankly obsessed with me.
16:48And we know that Nick is too.
16:50So I want to know, since Nick wasn't quote unquote your usual type, did you ever think this was the
16:55relationship that you would be in?
16:57And what advice do you have for young women who maybe prioritize preference over treatment and relationships?
17:02Right.
17:02So it's so funny because before all of this, I was always open.
17:06Obviously, I love black love.
17:08Like I grew up in the deep south, seeing black love like that.
17:11Obviously, my mind goes to that first.
17:13But I don't know, moving to Houston.
17:14Houston is such like a big melting pot.
17:17I've talked to Asian guys.
17:18I've talked to Hispanic guys.
17:20Y'all, I've talked to people.
17:22Okay.
17:22I never knew I was going to be in like a publicized relationship with a white man.
17:26No, I did not.
17:26But it's like, I'm just so baffled because it's 2025.
17:29I thought we were in a progressive society.
17:31But to know that people would hate you because you're giving a white guy a chance.
17:36I'm like, I understand it.
17:38It's 2025.
17:39This is not Love University of Virginia.
17:40Like I'm confused on white.
17:43Confused.
17:45Like for real.
17:45I'm just so confused.
17:46I'm like, bro, me being with a white man is not saying that I don't value black love.
17:51I don't love black love.
17:52I love black love.
17:53One thing about me, I'm a huge advocate for it.
17:56Just because I chose love of a preference.
17:58You hate me.
17:59You think I'm pushing this whole agenda.
18:01It's like, no, I'm with somebody that truly values me.
18:05That literally worships the ground that I walk on and that hears me.
18:08You get what I'm saying?
18:08Like he treats me well.
18:10He treats me good.
18:11I'm not understanding the whole discourse on social media.
18:14You're so fixated on me and mine.
18:16I'm not understanding that.
18:17It's not for us to understand, obviously, because they have their own understanding.
18:21Yeah.
18:22Don't get that at all.
18:23Please.
18:23Immediately.
18:24It's interesting because, yeah, as someone, like I said, I'm like deep in the Nicolandria
18:28hive.
18:29So I see how he supports you and how, like you were talking about the people in your life
18:35who champion you, who want you to succeed.
18:38It seems, at least from the outside, that Nick is one of those people.
18:41And so that, to me, as, you know, someone who does what we do, go off, sis, unbothered.
18:48We champion Black women.
18:49We want Black women to be happy and to succeed and to be loved properly.
18:53And that is what we're seeing.
18:55So anybody who doesn't also see that and want that for you, that's not somebody you should
19:00care about.
19:01Right?
19:02And I don't.
19:03And I don't.
19:04You know what I'm saying?
19:05I'm all for women being treated correctly regardless.
19:08I don't look at, oh, but he's white.
19:10Oh, but he's this.
19:11I'm like, girl, if he's treating you right, go where you're treated at.
19:14Go where you're treated right.
19:15You know what I mean?
19:16I truly feel like when it comes to Black women, people don't think we deserve nice things
19:20or people don't think we deserve to experience things, they think we should just work so
19:24hard to get to where we're.
19:25I'm like, no, but I shouldn't have to go through the being with a nonchalant man that don't
19:30really care about, you know what I mean?
19:31Like, I want to go where I'm valued at, you know what I mean?
19:33Like, I've had great experiences with other people as well, but it's just like, he's a
19:37great guy, too.
19:38I think people can't seem to see past the skin color.
19:40I'm like, he's a great man.
19:41He's a great guy.
19:42Like, why can't you just see that?
19:43They see the skin color first.
19:44I'm like, this is not what we're doing.
19:46And if Nick was treating me terribly, I wouldn't be with him.
19:49You get what I'm saying?
19:49But he treats me, this is what y'all see online.
19:52He treats me like that offscreen as well.
19:54Treats me amazingly.
19:55I love it.
19:56We love it.
19:56Wait, okay.
19:57Just because I'm nosy, I'm sorry.
19:58Can you give us, give us an example of something recently that your man has done that just made
20:06you go, this is a good man, Savannah.
20:09Well, even when it comes, because I don't necessarily share all my things to social media, because
20:14it's like, you give them an inch and they take them out every time.
20:16But when it comes to me getting certain opportunities, even if it's just like a single opportunity
20:21for me, the way he just speaks life over me, the way he just always telling me how much
20:25he's proud of me and things like that, just always trying to, you know what I'm saying,
20:29push me into those spaces or even allow me to come into some of his spaces to even make
20:33my, I guess, make my image bigger or whatever.
20:36I don't know.
20:36He's just always like my number one fan online and offline.
20:40I always speak so much life into me, checking in on me mentally, make sure I'm okay, make
20:43sure I'm good.
20:44Flying in, like even with the fashion with New York, Nick had no plans to go.
20:49He heard I was walking.
20:50He was like, I'm flying in for that.
20:52Like, I want to support you.
20:53I want to be there for you.
20:54And just to see those videos of him just smiling with the camera and following me, like,
20:58uh, it just melts my heart.
20:59He literally just wants to just be there for me.
21:02And it's so funny because prior to that, prior to me knowing that I can actually invite him
21:06to that show, because I didn't know how many tickets I could get.
21:08He was literally asking his team, like, I want to like support her in the best way I
21:11can.
21:12Like, how can I do that?
21:12Give me advice on how I can be that person for her.
21:15Like, how can I support her?
21:16How can I do this?
21:17How can I do that?
21:17He literally flew in for those 24 hours just to see me, just to support me, be there with
21:22me.
21:23And he literally was like, I hope, you know, like, that's the only, you're the only reason
21:25why I came to New York.
21:26I really just want to support you and be there for you.
21:27So I'm like, that makes you, that's the competition that people don't see.
21:31And it's not for them to see, it's for me to see and then for me to share with people.
21:34One thing about it, Nick is going to make a way, his schedule is dump packed.
21:38If he got to cancel the show, if he got to move some things around and be there for me
21:41to support me in that moment in time, he would do just that.
21:44No arguing, no questions.
21:45Like he, no, I'm going to be there for Landry, like, I'm going to, I'm going to go with her.
21:48Like, you know what I mean?
21:49So he going to move that schedule around for me every time and make it.
21:52No, do you see our faces?
21:54We're like, yeah, our faces.
21:56Like, there's no way that the internet thing, I'm going to give that up.
21:59Just to, just to please them.
22:01Like, girl, one thing about it, I got a very supportive person.
22:05And we're blushing.
22:06And I'm like, I feel so much joy to see a black woman be treated well by anybody.
22:10Do you feel like being doted on, being treated this way has brought out a different side of you?
22:16Do you feel like showing up acts of, you know, acts of service, these words of affirmation have always been
22:20your love language?
22:21Or how have you seen yourself evolve being in this type of a dynamic for, in this moment?
22:26Being in this relationship with Nick definitely has softened me a lot.
22:30I've only been in one relationship, been single for five years.
22:32I just came a little more hardened over the years.
22:37Which is probably what's a turnoff to a lot of the guys I was talking to.
22:39I'm like, you don't make me feel safe.
22:41So I'm not going to give you that soft, lovey-dovey woman that I want to give you.
22:45I don't feel safe with you just yet.
22:46But with Nick, it's just like, he doesn't have a nonchalant bone in his body.
22:49He tell me how he's feeling.
22:51If I'm upset by Max, like, can we just talk about it?
22:53Like, I've never seen that before, okay?
22:56And it's just, I don't know.
22:57Even with the whole physical touch thing, physical touch has always been at the bottom of the list for me.
23:01Because I got so turned off with me.
23:02I'm like, why is your love language always physical touch?
23:05That is disgusting.
23:06Like, what is it?
23:07Like, you know what I'm saying?
23:08But with Nick, it's just like, he makes me feel so safe and so comfortable.
23:12Physical touch has been like climbing the ladder for me.
23:15It's like, wait, I don't mind being like very physical with you.
23:18I don't mind like being all lovey-dovey with you.
23:20You make me feel so safe.
23:21You make me feel so seen.
23:22You support me so hard.
23:24Cameron's off.
23:24You support me so hard behind the scenes.
23:27It's just like, I don't know.
23:28I feel so soft.
23:28I feel so girly.
23:29I feel so like lovey-dovey with him.
23:31I have not felt like that in years.
23:33I didn't even think I can get back to this space.
23:35And for him to just bring that out of me, it's just like, no way they think I'm going to
23:39give this up just because they don't like what we look.
23:41You know what I mean?
23:42Like, no.
23:42No, I feel like I can relate to that too.
23:46Experiencing just the men out here, which has been very ghetto.
23:50But like when you meet that right person, because like you say, like, I don't really hold hands or, you
23:55know, I don't really like to talk on the phone.
23:57But then like you meet that person that brings that out of you.
24:00So, and then like they can do the bare minimum.
24:03I'm like, he opened the door for me.
24:05Oh my God.
24:06Like you forget like how like you're supposed to be treated.
24:11It's literally the bare minimum, but you're so used to like toxicity and like all of that.
24:16Like you start to forget.
24:17But once you find that right person that brings that soft side of you and like treats you the way
24:22that you deserved, it's everything.
24:23No one can ever prove you after that.
24:25Yeah, exactly like, oh, you don't mess around and show me my words.
24:28Like try it over it.
24:29You know what I'm saying?
24:30So like, I love where I'm at.
24:31Landria, we got to talk about Fashion Week because we loved seeing you walking on runways.
24:37And we just want to know what's next.
24:39Like, is there more modeling in your future?
24:42And what are the big goals?
24:44What's happening?
24:44Tell us everything.
24:45Oh yeah, so modeling is definitely in my foreseeable future.
24:49That's always been my dream as a kid.
24:50So to know that I can possibly live all those dreams now as a 27-year-old woman.
24:54I am elated.
24:56Obviously I have some big plans, some big things coming up.
24:58I don't want to necessarily say it too fast because it's still in the works right now.
25:02So I think my team knows like longevity is something that Landria truly wants.
25:06She really wants her name to be a household name.
25:08So I'm working very, very hard.
25:10And very strategically now to set myself up for in the future to do whatever I want to do.
25:15Definitely try to, you know, set myself up in the best way possible.
25:19Apart from the looks that you served at Fashion Week, it was just so nice to see you in spaces
25:23with so many people that we already like admire across different industries and, you know,
25:28successful entrepreneurs themselves.
25:30What has been the best advice that you've received from your peers that are entrepreneurs
25:34as you're building your own million dollar, billion dollar with a B brand?
25:39I know that's right.
25:40So speaking to the system, just drown out the noise.
25:43Remember who you are.
25:44Never change for the money, for anything, for fame.
25:46I see that happens a lot.
25:47Getting that advice from people that's already been in those spaces for years on end.
25:51Be authentic.
25:52They can see through it if you're not, basically.
25:54And I wish I already kind of knew that.
25:55So then just reiterating things that I already kind of knew, made it really stick to me.
25:58Like, you know what?
25:59I already had these things in mind, but if this is coming from the greats, if this is
26:02coming from someone that's already had so much experience in these spaces, maybe I need
26:06to really, truly, you know, try to prioritize these things, just stick to what I already
26:09kind of know.
26:10Seeing you, I think, with these people that we have admired and we're like, oh, this
26:15makes so much sense.
26:17Like, just watching you.
26:18Like, I know you were with Jackie Aina the other day.
26:20Like, that's just such an OG in, like, the creator space.
26:23So to see you there, it's like, this is already where you belong.
26:27Yeah, for sure.
26:29Did Jackie give you any advice specifically?
26:31Just her story in general is inspirational to me.
26:33Like, we just kiki when we're in public settings.
26:36And she just always telling me, I was telling her, like, prior to all of this, I'm like,
26:39girl, I was just a regular girl, you know, working a regular job.
26:41She was like, oh, baby, you was never regular with that face.
26:43Like, you were meant to be here.
26:44Like, just hearing those words from me, Jackie, like, I'm like, oh my gosh, you're right.
26:49Like, let me not just, let me not be as humble as I'm, you know what I'm saying?
26:52She was like, girl, no, you, me was meant to be here.
26:54This makes sense for you.
26:56Nothing was ever regular about you.
26:57And it's so funny because someone caught that cute moment on their phone and actually posted
27:01it to the internet.
27:02And I'm just like, dang.
27:03Like, I go back and re-look at that video so much now.
27:06I'm like, dang.
27:07Like, just seeing that, like, hearing those words from her is like, dang.
27:10Because she's built an amazing brand, worked so hard for years to get where she's at.
27:14So she's so admirable to me.
27:16Look up to her heavily.
27:17I'm like, dang.
27:18Being a Darcy and Black woman and still making the way through all the BS you went through,
27:21like, it's so inspiring to me, especially with me dealing with adversity now.
27:25Like, you know what?
27:26I'm going to use all this hate and just build momentum on it.
27:29You know what I mean?
27:29Like, I never really say nothing.
27:31I just be like, you know what?
27:31I'm going to be Beyonce to the BS.
27:33Every time I try to clap, I remind myself.
27:35I be like, Beyonce wouldn't do that, so I wouldn't do that.
27:37And it's so funny because my team will say that to me, too, because I say it so much.
27:40I'm like, you know what?
27:42Beyonce wouldn't do this.
27:43I'm like, you know what?
27:43I will get my success in my clap back.
27:45You mad at me for this?
27:47I'm going to do this to make it even matter.
27:48Let my success be, like, my BS talk, my shit talking, basically.
27:52Like, I'm not going to do nothing.
27:54You say I'm too old for the VMAs?
27:55Okay, let me just go ahead and bag this partnership with Vaseline and make it even matter.
27:59Now I'm making money.
28:00You know what I'm saying?
28:01You said my suit and stuff is too bright.
28:03Let's work with these makeup companies and see what's up.
28:05You get what I'm saying?
28:05Like, I'm going to make you eat those words every single time.
28:08You know what I mean?
28:09And I'm going to move with Grace every single time as well.
28:11So you don't say the comments.
28:11I'm like, you know what?
28:12I'm going to pray for you.
28:13I do have one last question as we go back to HBCU talk.
28:18Will Marcel be-
28:19I have so many questions.
28:20Oh, I know.
28:21We can be talking all day.
28:22But I do want to know, will Marcel be-
28:25Would you like him to be attending an HBCU?
28:28Would you like him to be attending an HBCU?
28:33The Marcel of it all is taking me completely out.
28:36I'm not going to lie.
28:37His middle name still baffled me to this day.
28:39I'm like, Marcel?
28:40That's a black man.
28:42For anyone who does not know, Nick's middle name is Marcel.
28:45And when they were on the show, they had to take care of like a fake baby.
28:50And they named this fake baby Marcel.
28:53The internet has now decided that your child's name is Marcel.
28:56Yeah.
28:57I mean, we're talking about legacy.
28:58So yeah, we want to know legacy-wise if Marcel's going to an HBCU.
29:02I'm going to push.
29:03I'm going to advocate for her for sure.
29:05Period.
29:08I'm going to be a big advocate for HBCU.
29:11I'm going to support Marcel with whatever he decides to do.
29:14Yes.
29:14I'm going to be like, let's visit a few HBCs and see how you feeling, son.
29:18Just put in a good word for Howard.
29:20I'm just saying.
29:21I'm biased, but Howard might be it.
29:23I'm going to put in a good word, but we visit Tuskegee.
29:26Okay?
29:26As long as you know.
29:28I'm Canadian.
29:29So this is a thing that I don't even really understand as much, but just the like devotion
29:34to the school you went to and that legacy conversation of being like, oh, this is a thing that is
29:41now in my family and this is now like has to continue on.
29:44So I want to ask you though about legacy and if that's something that you think about and
29:50how you approach it, especially now when you can really do anything.
29:54Girl, like you have the world at your feet.
29:57Is legacy something that you're thinking about?
29:59That's a good question.
30:00Something I never really thought about, honestly.
30:02Obviously, I would want a legacy.
30:03I would love to build that because I don't really have that.
30:06You know what I mean?
30:07I'm the first in my family to do a lot of things.
30:08So like a lot of the stuff is starting with me.
30:10I don't want it to end with me.
30:12So like I kind of want to continue to build upon that, whatever that seems, whatever that
30:15looks like.
30:16Well, the future is bright for you, Alandria, clearly.
30:19And we know that you are going to build an incredible legacy and this is just the beginning.
30:24We want to say thank you for joining us on Go Off, Sis.
30:28Thank you for having me.
30:28Thank you for just how you're showing up in the world and just keep doing you, girl.
30:33And we're just rooting for you always.
