00:06gorgeous she's emotionally available but she's straight so we met last year in
00:17May I was commissioned for a story to come cover black-owned businesses here
00:21in Houston you know I was living in Mexico at the time so you were on my
00:25itinerary they set us up for a meet-and-greet which was kind of
00:28different for me because they set us up on like drinks like late on a Friday
00:33night which normally doesn't happen so have my questions ready like all right
00:38we're gonna talk shop but you came in and then just this big old ball of energy
00:43like who is this girl we hung out like instantly talking about manifestations
00:49and idiosyncrasies and just all the things at the bar and even at that point I
00:55was just like yo she's like super cool super dope got out the uber it was like
00:59all the things rom-coms are made up it was raining I got out the uber we're
01:04standing on the umbrella hugging a kiss was shared
01:16and then you you put me in my uber and sent me back to my hotel and that was that
01:23and I was
01:25like in my head like yo I want to see this girl again day two when we get to the
01:30spot it's like
01:32pulling teeth like how it's like so like are you available or what's your story I know day two was
01:39like so bad it was bad I know it was bad because I'm awkward like in that moment it was
01:46fun I expected
01:47the night before to just be a night I expected it to end there I didn't expect to see you
01:52again it
01:52was just a moment in Houston we got through it we got through day two and then I invited you
02:00to
02:01breakfast the next morning and I showed up and then from there it was magic but even then honestly I
02:08still thought it was only gonna be a moment in Houston because I lived in another country we would
02:14FaceTime for hours I knew I wanted to see you again I knew that you were headed back to Mexico
02:20mm-hmm and that's when I just shot my shot I got the plane ticket what about these dates and
02:26I was
02:26like wait nine days that's like that's a long time what about four it was like we had such a
02:30deep
02:31connection virtually and I was like I've only spent maybe seven hours with a total in person is it gonna
02:38be the same cuz it turned out to be the best date ever it was the best date ever literally
02:44best visit
02:45ever this is my home base now like I'm here for good let me give me those googly eyes that
02:52in one
02:52of those conversations I was like I'm very I'm nervous about this because this is a new journey
02:57for me when you were like I'll hold your hand I actually I've been documenting our story from the
03:03beginning of course you're documenting our story they ate Friday June 4th 2021 I love you you just don't
03:11know it we've officially known each other a week it feels like a lifetime how can two complete strangers
03:16be so connected in such a short amount of time wild I love how talking about our future together is
03:23not
03:23some taboo topic marred with hypotheticals and subtle innuendos due to emotional unavailability a lack
03:30of mental capacity to fathom anything beyond right now or the next book it was a healing moment for me
03:44because in that moment I was unpacking other baggage in the past when I've had relationships with women
03:51who are straight who want to keep me in the closet or they weren't okay with being out in the
03:56public with
03:57me I was like yo I'm I'm done with this like you I live out proudly I'm proud of who
04:02I am and I
04:03expect my partner my helpmate to be exactly the same I hadn't been with a woman before and I think
04:09when I told my friends that was part of conversation as well I came home straight and I left a
04:15lesbo
04:17I think we just done such a great job of creating a foundation of safe space that allows us to
04:22communicate in a way that has it's propelled our relationship leaps and bounds I mean the connection
04:29is unbelievable you're my best friend but that first like misunderstanding when we were just talking
04:36about you moving to Houston and you're like oh I need to have a plan B if we know this
04:42thing is
04:44like meant to be like why do we need a backup plan and I was offended this was like whenever
04:49we both
04:49had to go and do our own separate healing work because there was another level of healing that
04:54we had to fulfill I got into therapy to kind of unpack some of this stuff like why was I
04:58feeling this
04:59way why did I feel like I need a plan B my reaction reaction was like what do you mean
05:05because in that
05:05moment eight-year-old Kalia felt rejected but we worked it out yeah we talked it out we worked it
05:11out I had to make you a playlist you sent me a whole playlist to get my baby back please
05:16baby please
05:16I think I think about calling it quits probably every other night when you like snatch the covers
05:23and wrap yourself in your burrito and you leave me freezing I stay because I know you were created
05:29for me you've checked everything off this list my divine list divine partner list this is my divine
05:36partner list and you check everything off and then you add some more boxes that I needed to check
05:42loving a black woman for me it's like a warm batch of chocolate chip cookies coming out of the oven
05:49it's
05:50filled with like all the ooey gooey goodness and it's comforting I'm honored to love not just a black
05:57woman but to love you because for me you are the epitome of strength of resiliency perseverance of
06:06how beauty and this gorgeous face oh and you're also down to keep me in check you're my person I
