00:00Good evening. It's felt much more like winter today, unfortunately. There is more sunshine on the way for the start
00:06of the weekend, however.
00:08But further showers through this evening push into parts of Wales and the Midlands, bringing a risk of some sleety
00:14snow over the high ground.
00:16Behind that, though, it does become much drier, clearer skies, becoming more widespread across the UK.
00:21Still a few showers across the far north and west through much of the night.
00:26But where it does remain settled and clear overnight, we are expecting a frost and some icy stretches by Saturday
00:32morning.
00:33These are the minimum temperatures by Saturday morning. Many towns and cities, just one or two degrees.
00:39So a pretty chilly start to the weekend, but it should be quite a sunny one, actually.
00:44Most of us will see plenty of sunshine through the day.
00:47That's all apart from the far northwest of Scotland, where these showers will continue through much of Saturday.
00:53Though snow just falling above 400 metres, so we're not expecting any disruption from that snow.
00:58Elsewhere, risk of showers in the far southwest, possibly across eastern areas.
01:02But I think most of us should stay dry through Saturday.
01:05With lighter winds as well, it'll feel a little bit warmer than it has done today.
01:09Highs of 10 or 11 degrees across more central areas, across the coast, further west, 8 or 9 degrees.
01:15That's still a little bit below average for the time of year, but warmer than today, that's for sure.
01:20The more settled weather does continue into Saturday evening for most of us.
01:25Risk of showers starting to push into the far north and west.
01:29And then this band of rain sweeps across the country throughout Saturday night.
01:34Stalling across more western areas where it will bring a lot of cloud, some drizzly outbreaks of rain too.
01:40We've got mild air within this area of rain though, so it will become warmer as the night goes on.
01:46So even if we see a frost to start the day on Saturday, I think by Sunday morning, much of
01:51that frost risk should be gone.
01:54And then Sunday brings more in the way of wet and windy weather.
01:58It is of course mothering Sunday on Sunday.
02:00So if you have got plans to be out and about, I think there is very little chance to see
02:03any dry weather.
02:04And fortunately, it's going to be quite a windy one as well, particularly across the far north.
02:09Guts of 40 or more miles per hour into the afternoon and some frequent heavy blustery showers for many of
02:17us.
02:18But it will be a little bit milder than Saturday.
02:2112 degrees across more central areas, quite widely 10 or 11 degrees as well.
02:26Cooler than that, we do have those strong southwesterly winds however.
02:30And then into the start of next week, there's more unsettled weather, but it does look like that spring sunshine
02:36will return later on in the week.
