03 June - National morning forecast presented by Clare Nasir.
Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Wednesday morning, which yet again will be wet with
00:06some stronger winds arriving from the southwest.
00:09Now overnight, this low pressure drifted northwards with some outbreaks of rain.
00:13Some showery bursts overnight, but this is the wet weather arriving and pushing over northwards and eastwards.
00:17Low pressure then extends across the central sway of the country up towards Scotland into Thursday.
00:23Heavy showers, windy towards more southern and western areas, slow moving showers towards the north.
00:28And then that's how we see Thursday evening into Friday. We lose the sting of those showers.
00:33Now this morning, watch out for a lot of cloud across Shetland with some patchy rain.
00:38Some clearer skies extending across mainland Scotland with some showery bursts also for northern England, but some brighter breaks coming
00:46through.
00:47A wet start for Northern Ireland. That rain just pushing in also across the Isle of Man, much of Wales
00:53and the west country.
00:54Strong winds here and we could see some heavier downpours through the morning.
00:57Now across the Midlands, eastwards, brighter breaks, a few fleeting showers, but a better start to the day.
01:05So as we head through this morning, you can see this weather front coming in and also those winds picking
01:10up some strength.
01:11This showery rain across Scotland continues to drift northwards and we'll see an improvement across Shetland through the day as
01:16that cloud breaks up.
01:17This rain, though, by around lunchtime will have arrived across central parts of Scotland, eastern counties of England, stalling across
01:25the southeast of England.
01:27So this arc of rain with, again, some heavier downpours embedded within it.
01:31Heavy showers will follow, particularly for Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Wales, northern England and even eastern counties.
01:38And here we could see thunder, lightning, even some hail.
01:42Now across the southwest, fewer showers, but a brisk breeze.
01:46Some brighter skies attempting to come through.
01:48And we'll see some showery bursts across the far north of Scotland.
01:52Some broken clouds here as that rain stores across the highlands of Scotland, extending down towards Angus as well as
01:59Fife.
01:59So a lot of wet weather to come through this afternoon and these heavy showers will continue into evening time.
02:05Temperatures struggling a little bit, 17 to 20 degrees Celsius.
02:09And this windy weather continues through this evening with those showers as well.
02:13So through the evening, this area of rain continues to push northwards.
02:18Showery bursts across many parts of the country.
02:21Heavy downpours are likely.
02:22The low sits towards the north of Northern Ireland, so the clouds swirling around it.
02:26And we'll see some outbreaks of rain extending from Northern Ireland towards Northern England, southern Scotland through the night and
02:33into Thursday morning.
02:34Heavy showers cluster towards the southwest into Thursday and they will track eastwards.
02:39Temperatures holding up overnight, not particularly chilly, 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
02:44But there will be some wet weather to start the day on Thursday.
02:46Also that strong wind across England and Wales, perhaps southern Scotland, certainly Northern Ireland.
02:51A lighter breeze across Northern Ireland.
02:53And here, any showery downpours could be prolonged.
02:56Elsewhere, these showers will rattle across the country, again with the risk of some heavy and thundery downpours.
03:02Some brighter breaks in between temperatures, probably up to 16 to 20 at the very best.
03:08So a showery end to Thursday.
03:10And as I said, those showers could be heavy.
03:12Now into Friday, after a breezy start, the winds will gradually ease.
03:16A ridge comes in, so fewer showers.
03:19They won't have the intensity to them.
03:21But then later on into Friday evening, yes, look at this.
03:24Yet again, a more wet weather arrives from the Atlantic, associated with an area of low pressure.
03:30And those winds pick up into the beginning of the weekend.
03:33So showery, if not wet.
03:35And we'll see some brighter breaks towards the south later.
03:37But again, it will be a windy afternoon.
03:40I'll see you later.
