00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Thursday morning. A band of rain moved in overnight, is now pushing southwards and weakening all the while. Even so, there's some wet weather around this morning, all courtesy of a cold front extending down towards the southeast and then we'll see showers in its wake and a stronger wind, particularly towards northern and western areas, a blustery breeze associated with any heavier showers.
00:23And then into Friday the weekend, things tend to brighten up across most of the country. It's really the northern and northwestern portion of Scotland where you'll continue to see clouds, strong winds from time to time and also some outbreaks of rain. In fact, through this morning you can see where the wettest weather is for Scotland. It's across Shetland, it's clearing Orkney, showers across mainland Scotland but we do hang on to more clouds across the southern uplands as well as borders that will clear.
00:49Now for Northern Ireland, watch out for that breeze again, quite strong in places and a few showers just coming in across more northern and western areas. We hang on to more clouds further south but again it should break.
01:00For England and Wales, it's really northern England, Wales and the west country through the first part of the day where we're seeing clouds and outbreaks of rain.
01:09Now across the Midlands, that cloud is sickening all the world and you can see some brighter skies across east Anglia as well as the southeast to start today. The sunshine turning rather hazy as that cloud rolls in.
01:22And notice this is the back edge of that cold front and we are seeing a strong wind here as well. So a blustery start to the day for Wales as well as the southwest of England, northwest England.
01:32So let's pick up on the bigger picture across the whole of the UK as we watch this band of cloud and rain move from southern Scotland, northern England, north Wales down towards the west country through the early hours of this morning, pushing ever southeastwards.
01:49Now watch out for the wind towards the northwest, delivering showers. These will be frequent across many areas. Sunshine and showers though with some brighter weather coming through, particularly for eastern areas of Scotland, northeast England.
02:00And notice the rain fizzles out through the afternoon across central southern England, east Anglia as well as the southeast. But the cloud could be a bit more stubborn there.
02:09Now behind it, you'll see some fine weather to end the day, some sunshine as well. And temperatures typically coming in, well, across Scotland and Northern Ireland in shelter probably 20 or 21, but exposed to that southwest wind 17 or 18.
02:24Now for Wales, 23 to 24 degrees Celsius at the very best. That's probably east Wales down towards the west though, 20 or 21 and we'll see a 24 across the south midlands down towards the southeast.
02:37So feeling warm in the sunshine through this afternoon. And despite the fact you'll see clouds across the southeast, at least though, temperatures will be into the 20s.
02:47Here's that trading weather front, weaker by the evening time. So it's just really a legacy of clouds and some clearer skies coming in behind.
02:56But notice across the northwest into Friday morning, yet again more clouds and showery rain which could turn heavy.
03:02This system remains north of the central belt. Strong winds here. Elsewhere on Friday, it's a mostly fine day.
03:09A mix of cloud and sunshine, mostly dry. And yes, temperatures reflecting that, feeling warm yet again in those brighter moments.
03:17But we hang on to the clouds and rain, particularly across the northwest highlands, Cape Ness, as well as Sutherland.
03:23Temperatures then 21 to 25 degrees Celsius, probably a notch down for Northern Ireland, 19 or 20.
03:29Aberdeenshire yet again will be the highest spot across Scotland, 20 degrees Celsius here.
03:35So into Saturday, it looks like this. We'll see more rain across the north as well as the west of Scotland.
03:43Fine conditions elsewhere and more blue sky across southern areas as temperatures rise very comfortably into the 20s.
03:50A similar situation on Sunday. But for more details, check out our 10-day trend this week. It's with Honour. I'll see you later.
