Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Tuesday morning which is wet for many, a bit
00:06of a muggy night even so, temperatures slightly lower than yesterday and your bigger picture. You can see the rain
00:12extending overnight into this morning, heavy at times particularly across eastern Scotland through the day, showers developing the risk of
00:19thunder and hail pretty much setting the scene for the next few days as more rain arrives into Wednesday. Further
00:24showers either side of it, some sunshine coming through and then the winds pick up some strength through Wednesday.
00:30Wednesday and into Thursday. Now if you are stepping outside this morning, some drier weather across the north of Scotland,
00:37spits and spots of rain, heavier rain for Aberdeenshire, Angus down towards the central belt, a few showers further west.
00:43It's a messy picture across northern Ireland with one or two brighter breaks, a little rain in places extending across
00:48the Isle of Man towards the northwest of England, northern parts of Wales. And then we have this arm of
00:54showery rain just extending from the south part of northern England.
01:00down towards eastern counties. Showers already forming towards the southwest of the country and that wind picking up some strength
01:07here as well. And notice these showers will be rather heavy in places and that pretty much will be the
01:13case as we head through the day with hail and thunder.
01:16So first thing this morning, here's that weather front. Here's the rain associated with it, with showers following from the
01:23west. So this rain will be slow moving across eastern and central parts of Scotland through the day, pushing up
01:29towards the far north of Scotland, even Orkney.
01:32Showers developing in situ around lunchtime across England and Wales. They'll be scattered but heavy and again a brisk wind
01:39towards more southern counties.
01:41For Northern Ireland, slower moving showers here and we'll see that showery rain across the far north of England and
01:48extending towards the southern parts of Scotland.
01:51Across the far north of Scotland, you'll see a fair amount of low clouds through the morning. It could break
01:56through the afternoon and we'll see that cloud also for the northwest of England again broken at times.
02:02So through the day, we continue to watch as these showers track across the country and they will be, even
02:09though they'll be scattered, they will be heavy at times.
02:12More persistent rain continues across highlands towards the northeast of Scotland and showers further south and west.
02:19Temperatures then slightly lower than today across many areas, 20 at the very best, probably 18 for Northern Ireland, 19
02:26for the central belt.
02:27Now through this evening and overnight, still wet across central and northern areas of Scotland.
02:32Showers tending to fade away across England and Wales. Clouds thickening across Northern Ireland, western Scotland with some patchy rain
02:39and that could actually extend towards parts of Wales as well.
02:43Clearer skies further east through the latter part of the night and notice this band of rain arrives across the
02:48Republic of Ireland as well as the west country into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
02:53A relatively mild start to the day on Wednesday. Breezy across more western areas, certainly Irish seacoast, all associated with
03:01this area of cloud and rain.
03:03A bright start across eastern parts of England. Some showers further north and northeast.
03:08Not as heavy as what we've seen, but through the day they will develop and become heavier as this area
03:14of rain extends towards Northern England, Eastern England and arrives across Scotland.
03:18Showers in their wake will be, well, I'd say heavy at times with the risk of thunder and hail yet
03:24again.
03:24And the unsettled weather continues through Thursday and into Friday.
03:28Cooler still, winds picking up some strength from the west-northwest and these showers could merge to form longer spells
03:34of rain from time to time.
03:36Low pressure sits across the north of Scotland into Friday as well.
03:40And eventually those winds will ease from the south and southwest as we head through the day on Wednesday.
03:45See a scattering of showers, perhaps some brighter skies and into the weekend.
03:49Yes, still unsettled on Saturday, a drying up process on Sunday.
03:54That's a trend in our weather.
03:55We'll keep you posted here on all our social media channels and I'll see you again soon.
