03 July - National morning forecast presented by Clare Nasir

00:00Hello there, welcome to your Friday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04We have high pressure influencing the weather across southern areas with areas of cloud
00:09and rain always affecting the north as well as the west through the next few days.
00:14But a fine day for many today away from Northern Ireland where eventually you'll see some rain
00:18and that's skirting in across northern England, central and southern parts of Scotland through
00:23Friday and into Saturday.
00:24At the same time we could see some drizzly bits and pieces into the first part of Saturday
00:29with more on the way of cloud but some higher rainfall totals throughout the weekend across
00:34the North West Highlands where that rain will just come and go.
00:37That trailing front continues to pile in that wet weather across these parts.
00:42A bit of a murky start to the day across western Scotland with a few fleeting showers, one or
00:46two showers towards the north as well.
00:48Mist and fog patches across England and Wales will burn off quite quickly and for most it
00:53will be a fine morning with sunny spells.
00:55Now notice the cloud will thicken across Northern Ireland through the morning, eventually we'll
00:59see some patchy rain move in. A slow process, this is a slow moving weather front. A few
01:05showers remain confined to more western parts of Scotland through the afternoon but for the rest
01:10of the country it's fine and dry and warm, if not very warm. So temperatures arriving probably the
01:16low 20s across eastern Scotland, the far north of England. For Wales, yes you could see a 26 in
01:22places particularly across eastern parts of Wales, 27 down towards the home counties and down towards
01:28the south west, yes a 22. And even for Northern Ireland where you're stuck under the cloud through
01:33the latter part of the day and outbreaks of rain, the air is warm and relatively humid so 20 or
01:3921 celsius.
01:40But for the far north west of Scotland, that's where we'll see that brisk breeze and temperatures
01:45probably rising to the mid-teens. So through this evening and overnight we watch as this arm of
01:52cloud and rain pushes in across central parts of Scotland, clipping Northern England and eventually
01:58reaching the highlands through into the latter part of the evening. Now towards the north you'll see one
02:05or two light showers but some drier skies and the rain just feeds in particularly across northern parts of
02:10Northern Ireland through the night. And again we could see lots of low clouds particularly across the Irish
02:15seacoast into the early hours of Saturday morning. The air will be warmer and more muggy relative to
02:22this night we've just experienced and so temperatures will be slightly higher as we enter the weekend
02:2712 to 15, 16 degrees celsius. So first part of Saturday looks like this. Here's that cloud and rain. The
02:36rain
02:37comes and goes particularly across western Scotland. In shelter towards the northeast you should have a
02:41fine morning. And further south, filaments of rain for Cumbria, Northumberland as well as Lancashire,
02:47Pennines. Similar situation for Northern Ireland, that cloud comes and goes with a little rain at times.
02:52Further south, the cloud will break and we'll see some fine weather as well as some sunny intervals
02:57coming through. And it will feel warm. Temperatures will be higher. So we're like to see a 27 towards
03:03the central and eastern area of England, probably 21, 22 across the southwest. Further north, yes,
03:0922 degrees celsius in shelter across eastern Scotland. Further west there across Scotland,
03:13probably 16 or 17 and a 20 for Northern Ireland. So a warm day on the cars for most of
03:19England and Wales.
03:20Notice through evening time and overnight the winds pick up a little strength associated with this weather
03:25front which clears but more rain then arrives covering most of Scotland into Sunday. The rain
03:31again will affect Northern Ireland and Northern England from time to time coming and going. But
03:37the most persistent bursts will always be across the north as well as the northwest. A fine day across
03:43Yorkshire, southwest England and Wales. Temperatures on the up. We could see a 29 towards the southeast of
03:48England. So very warm and then turning hot into the beginning of next week across these parts.
03:54Now through Monday you can see this weather front is attempting to clear. So some fine weather coming
03:58through across northern and western areas of Scotland. Showers across the central swathe of the
04:04country and then across more central and southern areas some strong sunshine. Temperatures 26 to 30
04:10degrees celsius. Obviously we'll keep you posted on all the weather as we head through the next few days and
04:15the risk of those high temperatures yet again. But certainly we're looking at those temperatures not as high
04:21as last week when we saw that intense heat wave which is good news. I'll see you soon.
04:25So
