00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday morning weather update from the Met Office where we do have some wet weather
00:06this morning.
00:07First of all, let me take you through the bigger picture through today.
00:09Low pressure sits across Scotland with a real squeeze on the ice bars, hence the reason why strong winds will
00:15be an issue, particularly through this morning,
00:17as rain clears the far southeast and we will see some clearer skies.
00:21But with these strong winds, gales, particularly across the far northwest along the coastline, showery bursts of rain with the
00:27risk of some thunder.
00:28Brighter skies emerging through the morning across northwestern parts of Wales, northern England, as we see an overhang of cloud
00:35for the Midlands, the West Country, as well as East Anglia.
00:39So through the morning, this band of rain is pushing its way eastwards, eventually clearing.
00:43This swirl of cloud and heavy showers and strong winds continues to track eastwards, so these showers will become heavy
00:49further east as we head through the morning into the afternoon, and with that, the risk of thunder.
00:54Showers filtering in across northern Ireland, but they will become scattered through the afternoon.
00:59However, a cooler breeze coming in from the north, so a fresh wind, and that wind will mean temperatures will
01:05struggle.
01:05The heaviest showers through the latter part of the day will be northern England, central and eastern areas of Scotland.
01:11A few then running in across the far south of northern England, the North Midlands, as well as northern parts
01:17of Wales.
01:17By a late afternoon, we'll see some fine weather come in across Kent and Essex as that rain clears, so
01:23some brighter skies to end the day, and a lighter breeze here.
01:27So through the afternoon, temperatures will struggle, particularly with the heavy downpours towards the north, only 16 or 17 degrees
01:35Celsius, where you catch the sunshine.
01:38In the middle of the afternoon, we'll see some fine weather coming in across the south, and that breeze will
01:51continue across more central and northern areas as well.
01:54At the same time, you can see this low pressure sinking southwards, and that means some stronger winds developing along
02:00the east coast into Wednesday morning, and also some showery bursts of rain.
02:04Some showers in the breeze also further west as well as north into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
02:10So first thing on Wednesday morning, you may catch a shower across the eastern side of England, eastern parts of
02:16Scotland as well, and that wind will be strong along this eastern strip.
02:21However, a better day to come further west as a ridge of high pressure just extends in.
02:26However, through the first part of the morning, notice these showers towards the west country, a few filtering in across
02:31the Isle of Man as well as Wales and the north.
02:34And the northwest of Northern Ireland.
02:37Temperatures overnight, well, a little bit lower.
02:39It's going to be a cooler start to the day come Wednesday morning, certainly across the glens of Scotland, 8
02:45or 9 degrees Celsius, and probably 8 or 9 across rural spots further south as well.
02:51And a breezy one to start Wednesday across this eastern side with a few showers.
02:55Some brighter weather though coming through during the morning and a lighter breeze generally across much of England and Wales,
03:02Northern Ireland as well as Scotland.
03:04A brisk breeze through the afternoon across eastern counters, but even so, any showers tending to fade away.
03:09For most places, it will be a dry afternoon, a bright one with a mix of cloud and sunny spells,
03:15feeling pleasantly warm in that sunshine as well.
03:18So, through the afternoon, temperatures rising probably higher than today.
03:22We're expecting values to come in probably 16, 17, 18 across Scotland and Northern Ireland, 20 or 21, perhaps even
03:29a 22 across more central and southern areas of England and Wales.
03:33So, that's the picture on Wednesday afternoon.
03:36Through Wednesday evening and overnight, again, a bit of a cool one and in fact a fine start to the
03:42day on Thursday before thickening cloud brings some showery bursts of rain and a stronger wind yet again to Western
03:48Scotland as well as Northern Ireland.
03:50Clouds spilling ahead of it, we hang on to some brighter breaks further east with temperatures coming in 19 to
03:5622 degrees Celsius.
03:57So, wherever you are, take care and I'll see you again soon.
