00:04where we have an amber warning for extreme heat today across the Midlands
00:08towards the South East. Hot across much of England and Wales, very warm across
00:12Northern Ireland and Scotland. The air has wafted northwards. We do have some
00:17showers in the mix as well towards the north and west of Scotland and here's
00:22your warning zone for that extreme heat as we head through into the afternoon
00:27and into evening time. Through Friday the air turns fresher from the north west.
00:32There could be a few showers possible across the far east of England and then
00:36this ridge of high pressure extends across through the weekend, dampening down any
00:41weather activity away from the far north of Scotland. This morning though it's
00:46been a muggy night, a very warm one across England and Wales, warm further north as
00:51well. Notice more cloud across Northern Ireland, central and northern areas, western
00:56Scotland with some showery bursts and they could turn heavy at times so some sporadic
01:01bursts moving northwards, the risk also of thunder through the day across this zone
01:07here. Elsewhere it's a fine and very warm start to the day with sunshine, hazy
01:14sunshine across eastern Scotland, strong sunshine further south, a little cloud
01:18perhaps lapping along the shoreline towards West Wales and here's your warning
01:22zone as we head through the day. That's where the highest temperatures are likely to be
01:26through the afternoon and temperatures will rise very quickly through today. It's going
01:30to feel hotter than yesterday. Very warm across Scotland and Northern Ireland and notice through
01:36the afternoon the cloud thins and breaks for Northern Ireland so some sunshine coming through
01:40here. The sun comes and goes across much of Scotland and we remain under some cloudier skies
01:46with again some showery bursts which could turn heavy across the north and west of Scotland. A few
01:52showers possible elsewhere across Scotland but they will be fairly isolated. For Shetland as well as
01:58Orkney again you could see a feed of that showery rain moving towards these parts. A bit of a breeze
02:04across the northwest there, a lighter wind elsewhere so feeling oppressively hot particularly under this
02:10zone but even further west and southwest will see temperatures rising very quickly through the afternoon.
02:16So all in all yes a hot day, a very warm day with that sunshine. Let's take a look at
02:21the temperatures.
02:22Well under this amber warning 36 37 is possible and the 30s across most of England, southern and central
02:31eastern areas of Wales. West Wales seeing temperatures still peak into the mid to high 20s. We could see 26,
02:3927 across Northern Ireland as well as the central belt. Highest temperature across Scotland perhaps
02:4428 celsius and certainly warm further north of the clouds coming and going. Murray Firth around the mid
02:5120s and we could see 20 just peaking across the western side of Scotland as well as Orkney. Along this
02:58east
02:58coast 32, 33 celsius so for some it's going to feel uncomfortably hot oppressively hot and that's why we do
03:06have that amber warning which extends through the evening time as well where things remain muggy,
03:11very warm if not hot through this evening and overnight. Temperatures only tailing off very
03:16slowly indeed. Now through this evening notice yet again showery rain confined to more northern and
03:23western areas has gotten a few showers just clipping Northern Ireland as well. This is a cold front
03:28weakening all the while. It's gradually fading as it pushes its way eastwards. The air then turns a little
03:34fresher from the west as we head through this evening and overnight. But a very warm if not
03:39tropical night across England and Wales into the early hours of Friday morning. So here are your
03:46temperatures overnight. We could see temperatures still holding around 20 through 4-5am in the morning
03:53so temperatures will be higher than that through this evening and overnight so yes very warm indeed
03:57uncomfortable for sleeping. And further north temperatures still holding up in the mid-teens so
04:03still warm here as we enter the day on Friday. By this point the wind will be coming in from
04:08the west
04:09across western Scotland. Notice a fine start to the day across England and Wales perhaps a few showers
04:15possible associated with that weak weather front across west Wales and certainly one or two showers could
04:20crop up across Scotland. They'll be scattered across Northern Ireland and western Scotland through the
04:24afternoon and a mix of clouds and sunshine through the day. So still feeling warm if not warm very warm
04:31across England and Wales and temperatures still peaking into the 30s anywhere from central southern
04:37parts of England towards East Anglia 29 for East Yorkshire 26 for Northumberland Angus and Aberdeen
04:44coming in at 23 Celsius for northwest Wales places such as Anglesey and Gwynedd 2021 the Isle of Man
04:51but further southwest yes we're looking still into the 20s or mid-20s perhaps the high 20s.
04:58For Northern Ireland yes you'll see a bit of a breeze coming through from the west northwest temperatures
05:04here possibly just peaking into the 20s a similar situation for western Scotland. So real a mix of
05:10how it's going to feel on Friday still feeling hot across central and eastern areas with those high
05:16temperatures and that sunshine. One or two showers possible into Saturday towards the east there
05:22they're blossoming across the near continent so there'll be touch and go whether we will see them
05:27but there will be showery rain into Saturday Sunday across more northern northeastern areas of Scotland
05:33and a quiet day on Sunday a cooler day around still pleasantly warming the sunshine before more
05:38cloud and rain arise from the Atlantic towards the northwest through Sunday and into Monday.
05:43Here's your cities list then for Saturday notice temperatures a good 10 degrees lower relative
05:50to today across the southeast eastern counties and pleasantly warm elsewhere with some sunny breaks
05:56coming through but also there will be some showers in the mix and your outlook through Sunday yet again
06:01we could see temperatures in the mid-20s across the southeast eastern counties elsewhere rising into the
06:0820s and probably the high teens across much of Scotland. So wherever you are take care
