00:00Hello there. A historic heat wave happening at the moment across the UK, particularly England and Wales.
00:06Temperatures record-breaking for the time of year.
00:09High pressure dominating a weak weather front, giving some cloud and patchy rain initially across Scotland.
00:14But the next few days it stays largely dry.
00:17Just notice the centre of the high moves further eastwards later Tuesday and into Wednesday.
00:21We just may see a little relief from that heat along some eastern coasts and the temperatures coming down here.
00:28But looking at the satellite picture from this morning, barely a cloud in the sky across much of the UK.
00:34The weather front giving cloud and outbreaks of rain across northern Scotland.
00:38And this will continue as we move through into the afternoon outbreaks of patchy rain here.
00:44Southern Scotland, sunny spells into Northern Ireland as well, but barely a cloud in the sky across England and Wales.
00:50And those temperatures are rapidly rising.
00:52We're looking widely across England and Wales into the high 20s, the low 30s, and then 33 to 35 Celsius
01:00across central, eastern and southeastern parts of England,
01:03which is unprecedented for the time of year.
01:07The mid-20s for Northern Ireland, southern and eastern Scotland between 14 and 18 under the cloud and rain across
01:14northwest Scotland.
01:15So cooler here. Compared to average for most of us, temperatures 10, 15 Celsius plus above average.
01:23They should be around 17 or 18 Celsius for this time of year.
01:26But notice under the cloud across northwest Scotland, a touch below average for the time of year.
01:32If you want to escape the heat, then it is cooler around the coasts of England and Wales.
01:37But sea temperatures around 12 or 13 degrees.
01:41So do take care if you are going into that cold water, similar for rivers and lakes as well.
01:47UV levels very high across much of the UK in that sunshine as well and winds on the light side.
01:55But some sea breezes developing later on.
01:57The weather front across northern Scotland weakens as we move through into the evening time.
02:02A few splashes of light rain pushing into southern Scotland, Northern Ireland,
02:05but most places dry. A couple of showers following into the far north during the early hours.
02:10But elsewhere, clear skies. And despite this, temperatures will hold up.
02:15It is a very warm air mass across the UK. Temperatures 10 in the city, 17 to 19 Celsius.
02:21Perhaps even one or two spots not falling below 20 degrees.
02:25But it does mean a sunny start to Tuesday once more.
02:29Remnants of this weather front just edging a little further southwards into parts of Northern Ireland,
02:33Southern Scotland, Northern England. One or two splashes of rain possible.
02:36But I think most places dry. One or two showers for eastern Scotland into the afternoon.
02:42Perhaps Orkney and Shetland seeing the odd light shower too.
02:46And elsewhere dry.
02:47But we may just see a little cloud bubbling up across central parts as we move through into the afternoon.
02:53On Tuesday. And for most, temperatures once more.
02:56Again, the high 20s, low 30s.
02:5833 to 35 across the central part of the UK is possible.
03:03Once more of the breeze coming in from the northeast may just make northeast England coastlines
03:08a little chillier tomorrow.
03:10And temperatures a little lower for parts of Northern Ireland as well.
03:13But in the sunshine, still approaching towards the mid-20s.
03:17And UV levels high once again.
03:20Into the evening time on Tuesday.
03:22This cloud continues to bubble up.
03:23There is the risk of a few thunderstorms developing.
03:26They will be quite isolated.
03:27But if you catch one, they could be on the heavy sides.
03:30Flashes of lightning.
03:31And there's some low cloud developing for eastern Scotland, northeast England
03:35as we head into the evening and overnight.
03:38And that just cooler air may just slip into some eastern areas a little more on Wednesday.
03:43But still plenty of dry weather to come.
03:45Some similar on Thursday and Friday.
03:47Perhaps one or two showers developing each day.
03:49But temperatures do slowly start to come down.
03:52A bit more widely into the 20s on Wednesday.
03:56Increasing again on Thursday before dropping Friday.
03:59And into the weekend, the signs of something a little more showery on the way.
04:03See you again soon.
