00:00Hi there.
00:01It's a fine Friday for the vast majority of the UK.
00:04Dry virtually everywhere, but not entirely sunny.
00:08In fact, those parts of the country where we have seen plenty of sunshine during the
00:12last few days now seeing more cloud.
00:15But conversely, those areas where we've seen cloudier, cooler conditions are now better
00:20placed for warm, sunny spells.
00:22And it's all to do with the orientation of high pressure and the wind direction.
00:25We've seen fairly extensive cloud to begin the day across central and eastern England.
00:31Some mist and fog as well, mist and fog lifting, but some patches of cloud continuing into the
00:36afternoon across some of these central and eastern parts.
00:40Meanwhile, with more of a south-west sea airflow now for Scotland and Northern Ireland, sunnier
00:45skies.
00:45And for north-east England, eastern Scotland, well, with fewer clouds in the sky, it's going
00:51to be much warmer compared to the last few days.
00:53In fact, the warmest part of the UK today is expected to be the north-east of Scotland
00:58with 18 or 19 Celsius possible.
01:01Feeling cooler further south, especially where we've got the cloud, that will make a big
01:05difference.
01:06But where we've got the sunshine, still the potential for 15 or 16 Celsius.
01:11And as you can see, barely a rain drop on the map, although Isles of Lewis and Harris
01:16could see some light patchy rain by the end of the afternoon.
01:20As this weak weather front moves in, that will bring some rain to Shetland, Orkney, the far
01:24north-west of Scotland overnight.
01:26It's a weakening affair, however.
01:28And these areas of low cloud in the north-west, keeping things generally frost-free.
01:34It's a colder night further south.
01:36And what happens is we see drier air arrive from the east.
01:41And so that gets rid of the cloud, basically, that we're seeing through the daytime.
01:47However, with extensive clear spells, we'll see some shallow fog forming in places, especially
01:53central and south-eastern England.
01:54That's where it will be coldest, overnight temperatures in some sheltered spots down to
01:58minus two Celsius.
02:00So chilly start, some fog patches first thing, but being shallow, the fog won't last long.
02:06It's going to clear the first couple of hours of the day.
02:08And then extensive sunny spells across England and Wales once again.
02:12Southern Scotland doing well.
02:13Much of Northern Ireland doing well, but some medium and high-level cloud drifting in here.
02:17Thicker cloud always across the north of Scotland.
02:19Again, some light showers, but nothing particularly heavy or persistent.
02:23The breeze picking up in the north-west of Scotland.
02:25Otherwise, it's light winds.
02:26Feeling pleasant in the sunshine with light winds, but not as warm as it has been through the week.
02:31We're talking about highs of 11 to 14 Celsius generally, and cooler along that east coast,
02:37where we've got the easterly breeze.
02:39Now into Saturday evening.
02:41Again, clear skies across much of England and Wales will lead to falling temperatures,
02:46frost and some fog patches forming overnight.
02:49And by the time we start Sunday, it's a cold start for the southern half of the UK,
02:54with mist and fog quickly lifting through the morning.
02:57Then another sunny day for many parts of England and Wales,
03:00away from the north of England, where we do have a weak weather front moving in,
03:04bringing thicker cloud and again some light, showery rain.
03:07But these fronts are running into high pressure.
03:09They're weakening all the while, clearing the north of Scotland to showers and a brisk breeze.
03:15But again, nothing particularly significant, because high pressure remains close by.
03:20A slightly cooler day once again towards the south.
03:2313, 14 Celsius typically.
03:25Feeling colder further north, where we've got the thicker cloud and those spots of rain.
03:29So a mostly fine weekend.
03:31Plenty of scope there for getting out and doing things outdoors.
03:35But yeah, there will be a lot more cloud around on Sunday compared to Saturday.
03:40And we'll keep you updated, as always, on our YouTube channel.
03:42Bye-bye.
03:43Bye-bye.
