00:00Hi there. More rain to come, yes, but slightly different compared with what we've been used
00:05to during the year so far. During the year so far we've had areas of low pressure frequently
00:11arriving from the south and southeast and stalling over the UK, so spells of rain but
00:18lingering. Now over the next few days we've got more of a straight west to southwesterly
00:23pattern with these systems at least moving through, but there are plenty of them to move
00:28through with not many breaks in between. And that means we clear one spell of rain from
00:33the east of England during Friday afternoon and we see the next batch of showers moving
00:37and a prolonged spell of showers pushing through very rapidly across western England and Wales
00:43during the middle of the afternoon. And this is going to be a lively feature, it's a trough,
00:47it's going to bring some very heavy rain, gusty winds, perhaps even some hail and thunder, but
00:53it does move through. It's being steered by upper winds of 50 to 60 miles an hour, so
00:58it's not going to last long, but you'll know when that arrives. More typical showers into
01:03Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwest England follow that, but it's going to be much milder.
01:09That's one thing you'll notice with the winds coming from the southwest. Temperatures widely
01:13back in the double figures and even for Scotland where it's been a cold start today with some hill
01:19snow. We're back into the mild air, 6 to 8 or 10 Celsius. Now the persistent rain across Shetland
01:28and Orkney continues into the evening, clearer spells for a time further south. Another spell
01:33of rain moves across the UK from the west and this mainly affects northern England, much of southern
01:39Scotland and Northern Ireland. A lot of cloud out there, but under that cloud and with a brisk breeze
01:45it is going to be a mild night, a much milder night compared with many nights this season so far
01:52and
01:52apart from Shetland and perhaps Orkney, it is that mild start to the day with a lot of cloud cover
01:59and
01:59some damp weather for northern England and Scotland. Initially a little brighter and drier further south
02:04at first, but the drier weather becomes confined to the east of England, the far north of Scotland where
02:11it stays bright. Elsewhere the next system moves in, persistent and at times heavy rain. But
02:18like I said, this is slightly different compared with the spells of rain we've seen during the year
02:22so far. It's more focused across north Wales, northwest England, western Scotland, although
02:27Northern Ireland is still getting some wet weather and there will be some bits and pieces of rain
02:31during Saturday afternoon further south as well. Now with that wet weather and all the cloud cover,
02:38there will be some gusty winds, but the winds are coming from the southwest, they're bringing mild
02:42air and Saturday may well be the warmest day of the year so far if we exceed 13.9 Celsius,
02:48which looks
02:48likely 14 Celsius or even 15 Celsius possible across some sheltered eastern parts. Double figures for
02:56Scotland, Scotland also likely to see the warmest day of the year so far, but Shetland and Orkney in the
03:03cold air still, albeit with some signs of brightness. Now these outbreaks of rain move northeast during
03:11Saturday evening and overnight, followed again by showers coming into western areas, drier for the
03:17Midlands, East Anglia and the Southeast. Not much rain there for Saturday, but there will be a spell of
03:23rain lingering across some southern counties on Sunday morning. That's the wettest period of time in the
03:28south. It does clear by lunchtime, brighter skies follow. The focus then turns to Scotland and
03:34Northern Ireland, northwest England, where there will be frequent and heavy showers accompanied by
03:38gusty winds. Those winds again bringing milder air, not quite as mild as Saturday, but still
03:44temperatures in places in the teens and a little less cold for the likes of Shetland and Orkney.
03:51More of the same into next week. Spells of rain followed by showers followed by further spells of rain.
03:56The systems are moving through and the heaviest rain will mostly be across western Scotland and
04:01northwest England as opposed to the far south and northeast. So a little bit different, but yeah,
04:08effectively more rain for many of us. As ever, you can follow the latest updates on our YouTube
