00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest Met Office forecast.
00:04High pressure, generally dominating, giving a settled day for many of us.
00:08However, there is this weak cold front, giving some thicker cloud and some showers across southern counties of England today.
00:15And then weather systems will move in across Scotland in particular as we move through the next few days,
00:20introducing some increasingly heavy rain, particularly across the highlands,
00:24and increasingly tight isobars there, indicating some stronger winds as well.
00:30But for Saturday afternoon, plenty of sunshine, particularly across parts of Wales, the Midlands, eastern England,
00:36Northern Ireland seeing sunny spells too, as well as Northern England.
00:40Elsewhere, generally cloudier across the top and tail of the country.
00:43Across Scotland, some sunny spells, but a scattering of showers breezy around northwestern coasts here,
00:50gusts around 30 to 35 miles an hour.
00:52Elsewhere, winds light, but thicker cloud across southern counties of England through much of the afternoon.
00:59One or two showers possible, and perhaps across parts of Cornwall and Devon.
01:05Some of these on the heavy side as well, perhaps 10 to 15 millimetres falling in a short period of
01:10time.
01:11In the best of the sunny spells, temperatures above average once more, reaching the high teens, low 20s.
01:16Maximums around 22 or 23 Celsius.
01:19It's a little cooler for Northern Ireland, northwest Scotland, the mid to high teens here.
01:23Add on the breeze across northwest Scotland, a little fresher.
01:27As we head into the evening time, the weather front across southern counties of England will melt away,
01:32clearing skies across much of England and Wales overnight.
01:36And light winds will mean a recipe for early autumnal fog, particularly across parts of East Anglia,
01:42down into southeast England, some dense patches are possible.
01:46Thickening cloud across Northern Ireland and Scotland overnight.
01:49The breeze picking up too.
01:51Outbreaks of rain moving into the northwest.
01:53So here, temperatures staying up in double figures, around 10, 11 Celsius.
01:58But under the clear skies elsewhere, temperatures mid-single figures in towns and cities,
02:02perhaps even a little lower in the countryside.
02:04So it does mean a chilly night to come.
02:06But with clear skies and the Orionids starting to appear in the sky,
02:12a stargazer's dream with those light winds as well.
02:16Just wrap up warm if you are out through the evening and early hours.
02:21So a sunny start with some fog patches for England and Wales.
02:24Thicker cloud perhaps moving into western parts of Wales.
02:26First thing, one or two showers.
02:28Cloudier across Northern Ireland and Scotland on Sunday morning.
02:32Outbreaks of rain, the rain turning increasingly heavy across the highlands.
02:36Particularly the higher ground, where rainfall totals through Sunday and into Monday will begin to build
02:41and could lead to one or two flooding issues.
02:43The winds picking up here.
02:44We could see some local gales around exposed coasts across the northwest.
02:49But holding on to the dry weather across much of England and Wales.
02:52Best of the sunshine and blue skies towards the southeast.
02:55And with the winds coming in from a southerly direction,
02:58boosting those temperatures 23 Celsius as a maximum.
03:02Well above the October average, which should be around about 17 degrees.
03:05Which is nearer to average further north, but still a little above despite the cloud and rain.
03:1017 or so here.
03:12But with the breeze, it will feel on the chilly side.
03:15And with some cheeky travelling conditions expected to continue through to the end of Sunday.
03:20Fine end to the day across England and Wales.
03:23As though a thicker cloud could give some splashes of rain later on across northern England.
03:28Sinking into parts of Wales as well.
03:31So it does mean an unsettled start to the new working week across northwestern parts of the UK.
03:37Further showery outbreaks of rain, which may become a little bit more widespread.
03:40The south seeing some rain, particularly by the middle of the week.
03:43But there will be some sunny spells in between.
03:45And a warm start to the week.
03:47Temperatures around 23, 24 Celsius on Monday.
03:50But turning cooler as the week moves on.
03:52Nearer to average, particularly for the second half of the week.
03:56More details on that to come over the next few days.
