00:00Hello there, we've just recorded an exceptional day across the UK, record-breaking for the time of year, provisionally the
00:09hottest May day on record.
00:11High pressure dominating at the moment, keeping it largely dry and settled, and as we move through the week, generally
00:17staying fairly similar,
00:19though a bit of a cooler easterly breeze developing come Wednesday will just bring the temperatures down a little.
00:25For this evening, a very warm end to the day, particularly across England and Wales, as the sun sets and
00:31some cloud across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland associated with a weather front pushing slowly southward,
00:37some outbreaks of rain possible in places, but overnight, generally dry and clear, and despite this, temperatures will hold up
00:45generally between 15 and 19 degrees.
00:47One or two spots may not even drop below 20 Celsius, something a little fresher across Northern Scotland, where we
00:53have the showers dipping into single figures in the countryside here.
00:58But there is a showery start to the day across Northern Scotland, elsewhere dry, some cloud across Northern Ireland, Southern
01:04Scotland breaking up as we move through the morning,
01:06perhaps giving one or two showers, still possible across Eastern Scotland, but for the vast majority, another sunny day to
01:13come.
01:13Some cumulus clouds bubbling up as we move through into the afternoon and evening time, and that may just allow
01:19some heavy showers and thunderstorms to develop,
01:22but for the vast majority of us, it will be dry, hot and sunny, and temperatures across the board generally
01:29above average.
01:30The high teens to mid-twenties across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and then much of England and Wales, again,
01:38seeing the high twenties,
01:40locally low thirties, 33 to 35 degrees as a maximum temperature, just perhaps a little cooler along some eastern coasts
01:47where a bit of a breeze starts to develop.
01:49So looking at our temperature map compared to average, we can see across northeast England, eastern parts of Scotland,
01:55nearer to average, still a little below across northwest Scotland there, but the vast majority, 10, 15 degrees plus above
02:03average.
02:03So another very hot day to come.
02:05UV levels high across the whole of the country in that strong late May sunshine.
02:12Now looking at the forecast for the end of Tuesday, some rumbles of thunder possible across parts of England and
02:18Wales.
02:18These will fade overnight.
02:19Then we've got some cloud developing across eastern Scotland, pushing down into northern England as we move through the night.
02:27Some murky conditions developing in places, some drizzle elsewhere, generally dry, perhaps one or two lingering showers in the south.
02:35And temperatures overall a little lower in the north and the east, just about staying in double figures for most,
02:41but under the clearer skies, parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland, we will dip down to single figures,
02:46perhaps even three or four degrees in the glens of the highlands.
02:50And then across England and Wales, 16 to 18 Celsius possible.
02:54So another warm night to come here.
02:56So a great start on Wednesday across parts of Scotland, northern and eastern England.
03:01One to two showers are possible from the word go across the southeast, but plenty of sunshine otherwise across the
03:08vast majority of England and Wales.
03:10Perhaps one or two showers developing into the afternoon here and some low cloud approaching the far southwest of England.
03:16Plenty of sunny spells for much of Scotland, northern Ireland as well.
03:20And in the sunshine in the west, temperatures approaching the mid to high 20s.
03:24Locally 30 Celsius, still possible across parts of southern England, perhaps locally 31 and south Wales as well.
03:31But cooler further north and east, parts of London into East Anglia, perhaps the high teens to low locally mid
03:3720s.
03:38And the east coast of England there, 15 to 19 Celsius and similar values for northern and eastern Scotland.
03:45But further west into western Scotland, Northern Ireland again into the 20s.
03:51So in that sunshine, it will be strong once more, just feeling a little cooler for most of us.
03:56The week ahead, Germany stays dry, high pressure holds on.
04:00There's still the risk of a few showers around, but signs of it starting to turn more unsettled as we
04:05head towards the weekend.
04:07And temperatures rising a little further on Thursday, once more locally, getting into and around 30 Celsius.
04:13And then slowly coming back down as we head towards the weekend.
