00:00All right, let's get started in the NBA. Jamal Mosley unemployed for, I don't know, two weeks, three weeks. The
00:06Pelicans are hiring Mosley as their new head coach. How about that? Five-year contract, according to ESPN, Mosley now
00:14turns to New Orleans after five seasons in Orlando, where he led the Magic to three consecutive playoff berths.
00:21So congratulations to him. But even a bigger congratulations goes to Aaron Rye, who ends up winning the PGA Championship
00:28yesterday, 290-1 to win the Wanuker Trophy, making him the biggest long shot to win a major in at
00:38least the last 20 years. No one had him winning this one. He was nine under par. Even Alex Smalley,
00:46who was a huge underdog, finished second, followed by Jon Rahm.
00:50Ludwig Oberg was five under, along with Justin Thomas. Matty Schmid had a good tournament as well. I thought Schmid
00:56may have ended up winning this thing on Saturday, but ended up falling back. Scotty Scheffler, by the way, finished
01:0114th.
01:02All right, Napoleon Solo wins the Preakness on Saturday, in case you missed it. His closing odds were 7-1,
01:08and Iron Honor finished second, and Chip Honcho third, supposedly. And again, who really knows with the way that horse
01:14racing is going these days?
01:15But supposedly, Napoleon Solo will run in the Belmont Stakes in a few weeks in June. So that's good news
01:21there.
01:22Okay, so Game 7 in the NBA usually is won by the home team. It's just the way that it's
01:27gone through the years, generally speaking, more than 50% of the time. So that's a lot.
01:31The Cavs said, not so fast. 125-94, not even close. It's 4.5-point road dogs. So it is
01:39Cleveland heading to New York in Madison Square Garden with the opportunity to play in the finals.
01:45They start their seven-game series tomorrow. Donovan Mitchell had 26 points in the win. Jared Allen had 23.
01:50And Evan Mobley had the best game, arguably, of his career. 21 points, 16 rebounds, and 6 assists. As I
01:58mentioned, Game 1 on Tuesday at the Garden. Here is Kenny Atkinson on what it means for his team to
02:05reach the Eastern Conference Finals.
02:07You know, it's like, you know, and everybody's like, oh, it doesn't mean anything. No, it does mean something. I
02:12think it does. I think this was a, this was the next step for us.
02:20You know, first day of training camp, I put up the playoff record over the last three years, 11 and
02:2615.
02:28You know, I've been saying, um, all year we have a lot to prove. Um, you know, and, and we,
02:36you know, um, we still have more to prove. That's kind of the next, next part of it. But we,
02:42we proved something to ourselves that we could get, we could take that, you know, another, another step. Um, so,
02:50um, just looking forward to this challenge, this next challenge for us.
02:54How big of a disappointment? It's not a disappointment at all. I'm not ever, will I be disappointed in these
03:00guys? These guys, every single day, give us what they got. Um, you know, so it is not a disappointment.
03:06It's a loss and it's a tough loss. Um, but you know, that adjective will never be used as this
03:12group.
03:12It's not, I'm not saying in the guys necessarily, but the season as a whole, and also I'm sure you
03:18had higher expectations, uh, falling far short of that, I guess, is that?
03:22I mean, I don't, I mean, what, I don't think we fell, fall short, fell short of anything. And I
03:28don't, I don't like the direction of your question. I'll be honest with you. Um, like these guys have improved
03:35massively and done a great job. Anything other than positivity towards this group is unacceptable. Um, you know, the turnaround
03:43from where we've come from, what these guys have been willing to do. Yeah. We, you know, everybody wants to
03:48win a championship every year, but you know, how much did you grow? How much did you
03:52improve? Did you sacrifice for the greater good of the team? Our guys did that collectively every single day. Uh,
03:59and we got better. We put ourselves in position to be here. So there's nothing disappointing about, um, you know,
04:05this group and the outcome of this.
04:07I think fair points, by the way, from bigger staff, I mean, who had Detroit going this far before the
04:12season started answer? No one. All right. Mets Yankees in the subway series. This round goes to the Mets. They
04:18win as home favorites and take the series from the bombers. The Mets now 10 and five in May. Look
04:23out. They're coming on strong. In fact, Tyrone Taylor was the star of this one. He had a three run
04:28home run in the bottom of the night to tie it for the Mets. And then Marcus Simeon scored the
04:32game winning run in the 10th.
04:34Ben Rice, by the way, hit home run number 15 in the loss. So Carlos Mendoza seemingly thinking, Hey, maybe
04:41the Mets are headed in the right direction.
04:43Amazed. Are you that you guys won that game and how meaningful is it in the context of all you've
04:47been through the last few days?
04:50Because of what I'm going to go back to that day, uh, that clay went down and, and just being
04:54able to come back yesterday and win a really good baseball game. And then today when we didn't play our
05:00best, uh, and you get down and, you know, for us to just continue to fight, uh, and for Tyrone
05:06to, you know, come, come through there. Uh, it's, it's just special. Um, a lot of people contributing. Um, but
05:15again, it was just too good to see the guys fight back.
05:18And, uh, staying on the fight. Um, it's just a good feeling right now.
05:24Meanwhile, another team that's hot in the NLE has got to be the Philadelphia Phillies. They put a six spot
05:29on Paul Skeens yesterday, six, nothing. The final Zach Wheeler, since he's come back, has been fantastic. Seven innings pitch,
05:36no one runs and eight strikeouts, Harper Homer. So did Bryson Stott and the Phillies got to Paul Skeens on
05:43offense. Here's skipper Don Mattingly on how they made it happen.
05:46I thought we battled, right? And I thought we just fought him. And that's what you have to do with
05:50guys like that. Um, he's going to get his outs. Uh, he's going to make pitches, but you gotta, you
05:57gotta keep fighting and just keep, you know, fouling off, trying to fight to get something. And I thought we
06:02kind of did that up and down the order where you keep putting pressure on him to have to make
06:06pitches. Uh, we finally break through there with, with the Bombi walk. Uh, JT three, two, we're running. He puts
06:12the ball in play. We end up first and third.
06:14Carl hits the bullet. Kid made a great play short, but that could have even extended that further. Uh, and
06:21then Trey with a big hit. I thought the, the two out knocked down a line. It was a little
06:26more cushion. Um, yeah, a lot of good things.
06:30So big win for the Phillies, big win for the Cleveland guardians yesterday as well. They put 10 runs on
06:37the Cincinnati reds chased a lot. Rookie went two for five with a home run. Also homers from Jose Ramirez
06:43and Kyle Manzardo. So did Angel Martinez and Brian Rocchio. So you know what that means? Six home runs on
06:51the day for the guardians. Here's Kyle Manzardo on the power search.
06:56Well, it wasn't only you. We saw home runs from Chase DeLauter, Brian Rocchio, Angel Martinez, Jose Ramirez as well.
07:04How much were you feeding off of each other offensively?
07:06Yeah, man. I mean, the, that stuff's contagious in baseball. So, um, you know, whenever, whenever we're all, you know,
07:14doing well, having a fun time, uh, you know, we usually play, play pretty well.
07:19Dodgers beat the angels 10 to one as road favorites. They completed the sweep on the hapless angels. They keep
07:25on losing.
07:26Uh, Roki Sasaki, this was an important start for him. He threw seven innings and eight strikeouts. Uh, also Shohei
07:32Otani went three for five. Here is Dave Roberts on the importance of Sasaki getting right.
07:37Um, yeah, I think he's been trending. I do. Um, I thought today that, uh, he had command of the
07:44fastball command of the split forkball and then mixing the slider when needed.
07:49And, uh, Dalton did a great job with them. Uh, they were in lockstep all game and it was just
07:54great to see him be efficient and continue to do what he's, uh, telling everyone that he needs to do
08:00better.
08:01And, uh, he executed that also tonight in the national hockey league, it's game seven between the Canadians and Buffalo
08:08Sabres tonight, Buffalo, a slight home favorite puck drops at 7 30 PM Eastern.
