00:00Let's get to the NBA last night. Another blowout for the New York Knicks as they advance to the
00:05Eastern Conference Finals over the Philadelphia 76ers. Final score 144 to 114. I would fairly
00:12say that they covered that one and a half point spread and the Knicks have just been red hot for
00:17a couple of weeks. Jalen Brunson with 22, McBride with 25, Carl Anthony Towns with 17 and 10 as the
00:24Knicks end up sweeping the series and the Sixers are going home. Here are the head coaches, Mike
00:29Brown on the sweep and Nick Nurse on the energy of his team compared to the Knicks. It's just a
00:35heck of a game by our guys. Their focus, their attention to detail while bringing energy and
00:44effort not just tonight but throughout the course of the series was at a pretty high level. Closeout
00:51games are the hardest games to play because the level of desperation from the other team especially
00:57when you're on the road and you factor in your opponents home crowd. So I mean I give our
01:04guys a lot of credit. I give my staff a ton of credit. My staff has been unbelievable from
01:13top to bottom. They've been really, really, really good in our preparation and making sure guys understand
01:23what we need to do so that they can stay focused on the details at hand.
01:29Well, they obviously came out playing super fast and we had another, you know, scenario. I thought
01:40we just weren't communicating good enough. They weren't super complicated transition runbacks but
01:46we just got two guys on one and couldn't get it talked out to get ourselves back. So I think
01:55a lot
01:55of those were in transition and the energy obviously was a big, big gap between their energy and our
02:03energy I thought and dug ourselves a big hole that we could never really get out of.
02:11That's right. So Nick Nurse is home for the summer. Meanwhile, who will be home for the summer in the
02:15West between the Timberwolves and Spurs? I don't know. This series is now tied up at two. The big
02:20story from this one last night was Victor Wembayama had a flagrant two foul and he was ejected from the
02:27game. First of his career as the Wolves win 114 to 109 outright. Anthony Edwards with 36 points in this
02:36one and it looks like we're headed toward a seven game series. Here's Anthony Edwards on not seeing
02:43Wemby at the end of the game which certainly helped them in the win. I don't know. Honestly, man, I
02:48think
02:48it was kind of harder just because, I mean, of course, they're a really great team with him on the
02:54floor but they play a lot slower when he's on the floor because, you know, everything is involved
02:58around him. When he's not on the floor, everybody's played. It's just like, you know, when every team is
03:03facing their best player, everybody plays free. They get more shots, more confident. So I think
03:08it was a lot harder on us. You said it kind of shifted, you know, without Wembayama out there.
03:12But did you all feel, it felt like late, you got a lot of stuff at the rim. Did you
03:16feel like the
03:17rim was a little bit more open? Yeah, of course. Particularly in the floor. Of course. I mean,
03:21everybody thought the rim's going to be a lot more open when he's not on the floor. But for them
03:25offensively, yeah, they play a lot more loose when he's not on the floor also. But yeah, I mean,
03:30he's eight feet tall. Yeah, he's going to come up the rim any time he's on the floor.
03:34The amount of physicality that people play with him, at some level you have to protect yourself.
03:42Every single play on every single part of the floor, people are trying to impose their physicality
03:47on him. I get it. We get it. That's part of the game. But at some stage, he's gotten chucked.
03:59He's
03:59doesn't complain one time. We don't complain because we're just going to play. We don't
04:03really give a ****. Use my language. But at some stage, he should be protected. And if not,
04:09he's going to have to protect himself. And unfortunately, stuff like that happens.
04:14Mitch Johnson getting a little bleep there in the postgame. All right. Cavs beat the Pistons
04:18116-109. They'll play tonight. We'll see if Cleveland can keep this series going. Right now,
04:24it's 2-1 Detroit. The Thunder beat the Lakers. Yeah, crushed them again. 131-108 this weekend.
04:30They're up 3-0 in the series. It would appear the Thunder will be moving on. Meanwhile, in the NBA
04:35draft lottery, the Washington Wizards end up getting the number one overall pick in the draft.
04:40It could switch in terms of the lottery. They're sick and tired of these teams tanking. I know.
04:44Utah Jazz got the second pick. Memphis Grizzlies got the third. And the Chicago Bulls got the fourth.
04:49And Indiana nowhere in the top four. And of course, there was a lot of discourse over the weekend as
04:54well. All right. Now, let's get to some baseball here. Yankee fans, you know, freaking out again
05:00after being so good. They just can't handle one sweep. That's what happened. Brewers beat the Yankees
05:054-2-3 in this one, despite Aaron Judge's 16th home run of the season. They walked off the Yankees
05:12yesterday, and certainly the Brewers showed a lot over the weekend to get the victory. Here is Pat
05:18Murphy on his club getting a win over the Yanks.
05:22I mean, we're not swinging the bat great by any stretch. But there's guys that are just,
05:29they're starting to understand it's okay. I got another bat. I mean, it's, you know,
05:37that's what it's all about. Just staying relentless, you know. And, but, you know,
05:42we didn't swing the bat great. But we've, we just chip away. And there's high standards. And
05:47those guys love, love the opportunity to, to compete.
05:53All right. So Pat Murphy's team wins. And so does Walt Weiss as the Braves beat the Dodgers 7-2
05:58as
05:58road dogs. Bryce Elder, 5-2, 8 strikeouts. And certainly the biggest series probably of the year
06:06for Atlanta comes up strong. Here's Walt Weiss on the Braves winning a very solid series against L.A.
06:13How about coming in here and taking this series from a really devolved bubble?
06:16Yeah, look, I mean, it's, it's, like I said, it's always a litmus test coming in here.
06:23Because he's, you know, you got to go through these guys if you're going to do anything in
06:26the postseason. So it's always, it's a really difficult place to win games coming in here and
06:32playing the Dodgers. It's, it's, I think, I think we've proven that. But we lose nine in a row or
06:38something like that. I think before last night. So yeah, it's a, it's a good road trip. You go on,
06:43you go on the road for 10 days and come back after nine games, six and three. That's, that's a
06:49really
06:49nice job by our guys. Good job by Walt Weiss and the Atlanta Braves getting that win over the
06:55Dodgers. Meanwhile, is there any team hotter in the American League than the Rays? They beat the
06:58Red Sox now 14 and two in their last 16 games. They've been absolutely on fire. And Nick Martinez,
07:05what a signing he's been. Five and two thirds. He gets another win in three strikeouts. Junior
07:09Caminero hit a home run. The Reds beat the Astros five to nothing. They've been struggling,
07:14but they win the series finale thanks to Andrew Abbott, six shutout innings and five strikeouts
07:20in this game yesterday. And the Tigers beat the Royals by a final of six to three. They win
07:26as road dogs and snap their five game losing streak. Gage Workman hit a pinch hit two run
07:32home run in the sixth inning that gave the Tigers the lead. It was Workman's first major league home
07:38run. How about that? Six to three, the final in that game. All right, now over to the National
07:43Hockey League where the Stanley Cup finals continue. And certainly we'll have a preview on game time
07:48decisions tonight of those games. And Gabe will be in the house to break them all down for you.
07:52The Canadians beat the Buffalo Sabres six to two yesterday. So that series is now Montreal two
07:58and Buffalo one, two, one series lead there. The Ducks and Golden Knights could be headed to a seven
08:04gamer out West as the Ducks beat Vegas last night, four to three. So that series is now tied up
08:12at two
08:13and no surprise on Saturday as the Carolina Hurricanes look like the team to beast to beat in the
08:19Eastern Conference. They beat the Flyers three to two. They swept and now they head to the Eastern
08:26Conference finals for the second straight season.
