00:00Okay, now let's get to the top story of the day. We've got the Miami Dolphins making a big signing.
00:05They have extended running back to Vaughn A-Chain. It's a four-year contract, $68 million. That includes $32 million
00:12guaranteed. Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey are the two highest paid running backs in the NFL, and A-Chain is
00:19third.
00:19And naturally, with the Dolphins going through a transition-type season with a new quarterback, new offensive line, new coach,
00:25new GM, it makes sense to make sure that their running back is taken care of because he's going to
00:29be getting the ball a lot this coming season.
00:32Meanwhile, will the Giants be throwing to Malik Nabors in time for the first week of the season? We thought
00:36so, but maybe not so sure.
00:38He had a second surgery, which they're saying is a cleanup, reports NFL Network, after the ACL issue that he
00:47had last season.
00:48The Giants host the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football to kick off the year, and Nabors probably going to miss
00:53the majority of training camp with this second procedure here.
00:56We'll keep an eye on it as we get closer in the summer.
00:58In the NBA last night, the Cleveland Cavaliers finally broke through.
01:02They won a road game in Detroit as four-and-a-half-point road dogs.
01:06Detroit looked like they were going to cruise in this game.
01:09They were up 15 at the half, but then Cleveland stormed all the way back.
01:13There was some criticism for James Harden.
01:15Well, not so much anymore.
01:16He was the key last night.
01:1830 points for Harden, eight rebounds and six assists.
01:22Cade Cunningham had 39 in a losing effort, and now Kenny Atkinson's team can wrap it all up in Cleveland
01:29on Friday.
01:30Here he is on this big road win.
01:33You hope it propels us, right?
01:35You hope it galvanizes us.
01:38You hope, you know, again, we carry it forward, right?
01:42Like, you know, that was a battle-tested win, you know, against a heck of a team on the road.
01:54But you hope it – I think you build mental toughness over with games like this.
01:58You build, you know, thicker skin, all that.
02:03Paul's going each way.
02:04You know, balls flying out.
02:06I mean, it was chaos out there.
02:07But our guys are seasoned.
02:12You know, James helps.
02:14He helps a lot just with – he never – like I said before the game, never know if you're
02:18down 20, up 20.
02:20Just calm the whole time.
02:23You're going to have to choke the life out of this team, right?
02:26We're not going to go down without a fight.
02:28We're not going to go down without kicking, punching, crabbing, clawing.
02:32And that's just who we are.
02:33And we've been in this position before.
02:36And we were able to work our way through it.
02:38And I expect our guys to be ready mentally to go out and compete at a high level.
02:43A lot of pressure on J.B. Bickerstaff going into Cleveland for the next game.
02:48But the revelation for Cleveland had to be James Harden averaging 24 points a game in the last three.
02:53But really, this past one led to the victory.
02:55Here's Harden on his performance.
02:57This is a new – like, this is new for me.
03:00So, like, we keep talking about, you know, like I've only been here two and a half months.
03:06You know what I mean?
03:07So, like, the things that we were going through is all new.
03:10You know?
03:10So, like, learning how to be, you know, a second option and feed and play off Donovan.
03:16You know, when to be aggressive.
03:17You know, when he has it going.
03:19Like, last game, second half, like, he did some things that we haven't seen in a very, very long time.
03:24You know what I mean?
03:25So, it's like – and he's capable of doing that every single game.
03:28So, you know, finding when to be aggressive, when to be a playmaker and things like that.
03:32And then offensively, finding what works for us.
03:34You know, for me to be successful to get guys, you know, shots and open looks.
03:38So, it all comes together.
03:40And I think we're building in the right direction.
03:43And throughout that process, there's going to be some, you know, times where, you know, we don't look as great.
03:47But I think overall we all got the right mindset of wanting to help each other be better.
03:51And, you know, I think we're finding that as of lately.
03:54Yeah.
03:55I mean, tonight was tough.
03:58Tough loss.
03:59Obviously, we wanted to protect our home court.
04:02We failed to do that.
04:03You know, being up 3-2 is an advantage for them.
04:07It's first to four wins, though.
04:09We know that.
04:10We've had our back against the wall before.
04:12And at the end of the day, I mean, if we can't win a game on the road, how far
04:16are we really going to get in the playoffs?
04:17How far are we going to get in this league?
04:18So, you got to go win a game on the road.
04:21That's what we're going to go do.
04:23All right.
04:23So, NBA, of course, getting a little interesting there in that series.
04:27Okay.
04:28Also, a quick note here from Major League Baseball before we move on to some of the highlights from last
04:34night.
04:34Today, the Seattle Mariners are placing All-Star Cal Raleigh on the injured list.
04:39Catcher first time ever on the IL.
04:41Having a tough year to begin with.
04:43Okay.
04:43Now to last night.
04:44Shohei Ohtani pitched very well again.
04:46Seven innings pitched.
04:48Eight strikeouts.
04:49I mean, it looks like Ohtani wants that Cy Young.
04:51He's going to have to beat out Paul Skeens.
04:53I don't know if it'll happen.
04:54But the Dodgers' four-game losing streak is over as they beat the Giants four to nothing.
05:00Here is Dave Roberts on breaking the streak.
05:03How do you describe this team win?
05:06It was a team win.
05:08Obviously, it started with Shohei on the mound and seven innings and throwing a shutout.
05:14Got a little help with that double play at the end of his outing.
05:19But, yeah.
05:20I mean, I thought he was really good tonight.
05:23And offensively, I just thought that situationally, we just had a lot of good intent, good at-bats.
05:29And certainly, to have a couple homers tonight from Espinal and Mookie was helpful.
05:35Meanwhile, the Braves' winning streak continues.
05:37They win their fourth straight and end up beating Shota Imanaga.
05:41It was J.R. Ritchie starting the game.
05:45But the key shot was from Mauricio Dubon.
05:47He hit a two-run home run and talked after the game about coming back and winning.
05:52I'm here with the hero, Mauricio Dubon, Yastrzemski with a huge hit.
05:56But you put the exclamation point on it with that big hit.
05:59How about your homer?
06:01It was good, man.
06:02It was good.
06:02But I don't get there without Yaz.
06:04You know, Yaz put a great at-bat.
06:05He's been sitting down for like eight innings, you know.
06:08And coming in and putting that at-bat, he did.
06:10Put a good swing and, you know, give us the lead.
06:12It was a little bit more comfortable going out there and looking for the pitch I wanted to drive.
06:16Padres beat the Brewers despite Jacob Mizorowski's strong start.
06:203-1 was the final.
06:21Now, Mizorowski threw seven shutout innings, but the bullpen gave it up as the Padres scored
06:25three runs in the top of the nine.
06:27Xander Bogarts with a three-run home run.
06:29Here is Mizorowski, who said he didn't have his best stuff, but it sure looked like it.
06:34Yeah, I mean, I honestly didn't feel like I had my best stuff.
06:38Like, I thought I was spraying those first few innings.
06:40And what helped a lot was the guys over there.
06:43They were swinging.
06:44And, you know, they were putting balls in play and some were falling.
06:47But, you know, that's probably the biggest factor of it all.
06:52Big concerns for the Yankees as Max Freed only went three innings yesterday and left with a sore elbow going
06:58to be examined.
06:59Naturally, this usually leads to an IL stint.
07:01Orioles win 7-0.
07:02Here is Freed after the game on the injury.
07:05Max, can you just describe what you were feeling in your elbow that caused you to come out of the
07:09game?
07:13Yeah, I would say it's hard to completely explain.
07:18But just kind of just whether it's like a hyperextended or just like banged, kind of that back of the
07:27elbow, the tricep area, just a little uncomfortable tight, especially in between innings.
07:35It's hard for me to kind of warm up, loosen up.
07:37First hitter of the inning would be like 88, 90, 91.
07:40And by the end, you know, fourth, fifth hitter, 20 pitches in, I'm able to kind of get things loosened
07:46up.
07:46But just wasn't sharp.
07:48And it was just hard to kind of keep bouncing back and, you know, definitely wasn't helping the team.
07:57And just at a certain point we would just say, hey, like, you know, I could have kept pitching.
08:04But it just, you know, at that point it was just like, hey, let's make sure that we can kind
08:07of calm this thing down and, you know, try to get ahead of it.
08:11All right.
08:11So we'll see what the Yankees determine is next for Max Fried.
08:15In the National Hockey League last night, the Avs come from three goals down to beat the Minnesota Wild.
08:21And they win the series 4-3.
08:22They're back in the Western Conference Finals thanks to Nathan McKinnon, who ended up having the tying goal.
08:28Sabres and Canadians tonight in a critical game 5, 7 o'clock Eastern in Buffalo.
08:32And the Golden Knights lead their series against Anaheim.
08:36And they can win the series if they win tonight.
