00:31short-term effect it has long-term effects it has um millions and millions of dollars potentially
00:39hanging in the balance it has a direction of an organization hanging in the balance i mean there's
00:44a lot lot to get to with that um anything exciting on your uh monday night it's a standard tiger
00:51watching maybe taking in some playoff hockey or basketball i mean it was all that um
00:57kind of anything to say so i got called over to my mom's house because she heard uh this the

01:04of the the dead battery in the uh you know smoke detector or whatever and so she said can you

02:27i'm like what is that where the hell is it i'm looking in her room i'm like is there one

02:30bathroom no somewhere else and then i hear it from a little bit lower and i pull this chair away

02:37the wall and there was a chair that had like a blanket on it and a pillow or whatever and

02:42was something else behind it and i pull that out and and there plugged into the wall is like an

02:47carbon monoxide detector but the new smoke detector she has is also a carbon monoxide detector so that
02:53that it's fine it's just this thing she's like i've lived here for 25 years and i never knew that

02:59there hysterical so i pull it out of the wall and you know pressing buttons on the thing to see

03:05going to reset or whatever and then i'm like well it stopped making the beeping noise so we can just
03:09put this one away you don't need it the other one is is good for for what this does so

03:15little strange a little discovery in the house interesting unearthed something there do you didn't
03:21know it was there i had no idea no we certainly know dave didn't know because dave probably doesn't
03:25visit mom yeah dave hasn't seen her in a decade wow it's not it's not what i said it's not

03:34um well that is that is something other than just watching uh tigers yeah that was something
03:40so look um we will get to the the pistons and the calves in fact today's our prediction show for

04:22um and there's a lot of layers to it so as we unpack this let's start with what it means
04:31for this season
04:33as a fan a tiger follower as someone who is is vested in this team
04:44is the season over to lose scoble for what somewhere between two and three months
04:51is this 2026 campaign in your view likely over because it's not just scoble now right
05:03scoble is the worst of the injuries but currently mize is out hopefully short term
05:10reese olson is out jackson jobe is out justin verlander is out troy melton is out those are all
05:15starters that range from great to very good to maybe average to potentially great and potentially
05:24good like but all assets that are shelved currently how does a team compete with what they have what
05:36they can put on the field right now can they weather this storm do you think the season is over

05:43fans that's a worst case scenario that is a horrible scenario yep um if they do absolutely
05:52nothing they still have a chance i don't think the season's over at all i i i yes they are
05:59without
06:01a mess load of pitchers i think there are six pitchers that are now on six starting pitchers that
06:06are injured and not on this uh roster um but one of those is scoble so you're going to get
06:12verlander
06:12back within within probably a week or two best case scenario is he captures the form he had at the
06:18end of last year worst case scenario is he's he's going to be back on the il in a couple
06:23weeks that
06:23that's the worst um but he's coming back you've got troy melton who is already doing rehab assignment
06:31in the minors so he'll be ready to come back soon casey mize they they don't think that's
06:38anything serious with the groin he could be back within a couple of weeks so it gets brighter by the
06:44day although there's still a little dimness to it because it's scoble you know this is the best
06:50pitcher in baseball this sucks but this is a team that i think they're set up to sort of overcome

06:56because they've been dealing with injuries to this pitching staff since the beginning of the season
07:00so they're getting some of these guys back now am i going to count on reese olsen no i'm going
07:05to
07:05count on jackson job i'm not counting on jackson job i hope he comes back i hope he's great but

07:09not counting on him um so there are question marks there um just like i'm not counting on ty madden
07:16to
07:16be what we saw last night which was fantastic on a high madden seven strikeouts and five shutout
07:21innings was great but that's not who ty madden's been ever so i'm not going to count on that either
07:28but what you need to hope for is this team can keep it together for the next few weeks and
07:35it's
07:35not like so that the pitching doesn't go completely in the tank and render this team
07:41in able to to to win games just with bats so hopefully the pitching staff can do enough to keep
07:48them afloat until some of these guys start to come back to the rotation in the meantime scott harris
07:53is going to be very busy scouring the waiver wires looking at potential say free agents in
07:59the off season so that he can maybe address that now with a trade with a team that's looking to
08:04get
08:04rid of one of their players it's a that's a rental or you know i don't know if they do
08:07that right away
08:09but you're certainly looking as a general manager or president of baseball ops you're always looking
08:15to improve your roster he says it a million times every person in his situation here in town has said
08:21the same thing we're always looking you know whether it's trajan langdon or steve eisenman or
08:26brad holmes everybody is always looking every day to improve the team and scott harris is going to be
08:30no different we'll see if they add anybody to the mix here over the next couple of weeks and i
08:36i suspect
08:37there's going to be some roster movement but i don't know if it's going to be an actual trade that
08:41happens yeah i mean look it's it's something that they have to consider is adding a starter there's the
08:47division like the division i don't believe the season's over i know very cynical people will look
08:54at this and and and say the season's over or maybe on a surface level you think oh you lose
08:59school
08:59book season's done it's not for the whole season at this point it doesn't appear to be the case but
09:05there's no guarantees uh as far as is you know what they have in house they need some help i

09:13maybe a little bit more optimistic that maybe madden has discovered some things and can be an
09:18asset to this team um moving forward um but you know you've got to experiment with everything you
09:24got to you got to put them back out there like madden maybe deserves a start here and just to
09:29see
09:30a check and see right let's let's check and see um it's amazing how much now is suddenly riding
09:37on on jack flarity who's been terrible they have survived flarity struggles to to not you know have
09:47any unreparable damage done to their division chances now they might need flarity to recapture
09:54something to stay in this thing for a while like it's we know he in his career he's been capable

10:00better than this he's also at a point in his career we have to start wondering about you know is
10:05there
10:05diminishing returns on a player at this age but the bottom line is there is a lot riding if you
10:12had
10:12told me that a month in the end of the season a month and a half into the season we'd
10:17be talking
10:17about how important jack flarity and cater montero are we'd be like uh now flarity we might have had
10:25some belief in because we'd seen him pitch decent for long stretches in detroit but i mean flarity and
10:32cater montero you know they got to step up they got to step up flarity's only 30 but it feels
10:41you
10:41have to wonder if there's a tipping point here in his career well he's been dealing with a lot over
10:46the last few years with back injuries that he you know has gotten injections uh to to maintain the the
10:52pain and be able to have the flexibility and all that and sometimes it it's too much and he needs
10:56to
10:57miss a start and sometimes he battles through and whatever the case is jack's a tough guy and and you
11:03hope that he still has it in him to to bounce back but it's a mental thing right now because
11:08he just
11:08can't find a plate um even though i guess the numbers do you think it's a mental thing do you
11:13think it might be a physical i don't know i mean the the crazy thing is that if this continues
11:19in the past you've seen this happen with seemingly an endless number of pitchers where hey they just
11:24haven't been able to find a plate and then oh they're on the the il for you know with uh
11:29you
11:29know lat tightness or whatever the heck it's going to be so no i mean i don't know if it's
11:33just mental
11:34but i mean the first thing i think of when if they're not throwing strikes and there's still
11:37velocity still there and the numbers are there with their you know spin rates and all that that it's
11:41it's something upstairs rather than physical but it remains to be seen and and the guy who really is
11:48going to have to hold it all together we haven't even mentioned is framer valdes who pitches tonight
