00:37not completely undermine a chance at the playoffs so you get something back that you can use now
00:44and then rely on the remaining starting staff to be good enough to still get you into the postseason

01:54shaver from the atlanta braves will warren or ryan weathers from the new york yankees
02:03the story goes on to say with the exception of henderson who recently missed six and a half weeks
02:07with the lower back strange uh lower back strain none of those pitchers has been a world beater
02:13this season certainly none has been close to the level of scuba who has a 297 era and seven starts
02:19since returning from the his innovative nanoneedle surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow all
02:25however have shown varying degrees of promise and all would be with the tigers for longer than two
02:31plus months the amount of time scuba has left with the tigers before becoming a free agent so of
02:36course would any process so of course would any prospect detroit lands in such a trade okay so
02:45those starting pitchers are a kind of a who's who of guys who have struggled this year
02:53but not a who's who of guys who haven't shown promise in their careers like emmett sheehan this
02:58year for the dodgers is four and seven with a 513 era but last year in 12 starts and 15

03:07he went six and three six and three with a 282 era and a 0.97 whip logan henderson from
03:15milwaukee who
03:16has the back strain started the year in triple a he was a borderline top 100 guy he was a
03:22pretty
03:23highly regarded prospect in the brewers organization he's 24 years old and this year in seven starts
03:31before the back strain he had a 297 era and a 0.93 whip i could be interested in that
03:39player right
03:40handed pitcher i could also be interested in the pool of prospects the brewers have
03:48you could convince me well the the problem with the brewers prospects is that obviously they have
03:53the top prospect in all of baseball i don't think that's going to be available to you if you're
03:57going to give up on this young pitcher who's already made the rotation in each of the last
04:00couple years shows incredible promise and is out with a back strain right now it's not like you're
04:05going to get both of them so how big is the drop off from their top prospect to the next
04:10one or the
04:11next one after that because some of these guys had just been uh added to their roster too so i
04:16guess
04:17technically they may not be on their their list anymore so it's it's already you're already getting
04:21a gap well they have five other top 100 prospects outside of jesus made who is at the top of
04:28mlb's
04:29prospect list and if you're getting a pitcher then that would might eliminate pitchers in terms of
04:33prospects none of them are okay so that's good to know luis pena is number 18 he's an infielder at
04:38high
04:38a ball and that's this is where you get that's where you get the guy you get a guy who's
04:43far
04:43away teams are more willing to part with a guy who's an a ball than is on the cusp um
04:50is that high
04:51a ball yeah that's that's a little cooper pratt and luis lara have they been called up they were also
04:55lara is crazy yeah uh jet williams is a triple a he's the 78th best prospect in baseball he's a

05:02baseman shortstop outfielder and josh out of zuski is a outfielder's number 90 prospect in baseball he's
05:10a double a i could see something working out here i could see something working out here if they do

05:42and say well hang on they've got a couple of starting pitchers that are probably really close
05:46to coming back here um in jackson job and maybe justin verlander as well and they already have a
05:53plethora of starting pitching here um uh currently although some of it's a little shaky flaherty has just
05:59entered the the il again although doesn't sound like it's terribly serious but we'll find out
06:06um and casey mize has been on and off that he's not going to miss a start okay the cater

06:12been up and down the rotation based on if they have too many pitchers or not so the tigers are

06:17from a position of strength do they really want to replenish that necessarily with the major league
06:21ready arm they might i mean for the right arm uh the kid you mentioned from milwaukee is it
06:26henderson is that it was yeah uh very interesting and very intriguing because he's been very successful
06:32in in a short amount of time uh this year and last year with that big club so um i'm
06:39intrigued by that
06:41it's and you know how i feel about the dodgers farm system it's incredible top he's got a massive
06:47crush on the dodgers farm system i just said massive crush i was thinking something else from anchor man but
06:51yes i i am very excited about what the dodgers have to offer his excitement can lead to that from
06:56anchor man must be the police by the way same joke made in the hawk he does the exact same

07:11the dodger situation is an interesting one because they told showy otani you're not going to pitch for a
07:16while which opens up a spot and they need to replace a showy otani arm who's outstanding with

07:28got a catcher right now as the backup who is you know could be replaced at any moment because they've
07:34got several catching prospects in their system so i think something could work there but milwaukee
07:40is interesting all the prospects they have and then the aforementioned pitching pitcher that you said
07:45however that pitcher isn't likely to contribute right now if he's out with a back strain i don't
07:50think that's a problem for the tigers not a problem you think he's great and you've got team control for
07:54the next five years over that guy okay now we're talking um i just i like the idea that there's
08:01actually discussion about this that it's it's not always people saying nope tigers aren't going to
08:06trade school they don't want it they think they have a chance to go for it and i i'm i'm
08:11intrigued by

08:16here too um we talk a lot about going for it and trading it's because at some point you got
08:23to make
08:24a decision and neither you or i have come well you've been a little bit more on trade school but

08:39and they're both extreme like one is maybe not starting a full-scale rebuild but the but you

08:53that intrigues me is jr richie who's been knocked around pretty good this year for the braves but this
09:00is his rookie season and he was a top 100 prospect before this year peaking at number 79 on mlb's

09:09as far as the braves are concerned and again it would be a starting pitcher under club control
09:14that the tigers are apparently floating out there that they want and prospects the braves have three
09:21top 100 prospects none of which i would think are untouchable because of what level they are and where
09:28they rank cam caminiti is a left-handed pitcher at single a high a ball who's 19 years old he's

09:35number 42 on mlb's top 100 list eric hartman is number 76 he's an outfielder at high a ball
09:45uh tate sanice south south i'm sorry south then say i don't know anything about this dude obviously
09:53number 95 he's a middle infielder at high a ball i think they would part with those kinds of prospects
10:02and this young pitcher to get scoobal and the braves are an interesting team and that the braves
10:07have a real shot here the one thing i think would have to happen with the braves is the tigers

10:12have to pick up a bunch of scoobal's contract for two months which i would say bravo do it

11:15um yost and rainer playing at lakeland and um in west michigan and both are off to good starts yost
11:23has struggled a little bit this year but now he's got his ops well above 700 he's he's playing much
11:28better and bryce rayner is just hit the ground running since he's been healthy uh at west michigan
11:36he's got an ops near 900 now and he's probably poised for um a promotion at some point add to
11:44that
11:44the tigers have john peck who is another shortstop in their organization who's hurt right now but before
11:49he got hurt man was he doing a tremendous job and deserved his promotion so they've they've got a
11:55lot of these guys let alone max anderson how you lee is already up you know we know mcgonigal is

11:59the everyday shortstop is he a third baseman but you know he's on the left side of the infield so
12:04they've got i wonder if that is if that part of is just out or do the tigers like most
12:09organizations
12:10look at hey if you can play shortstop you can play anywhere because you're the best athlete out
12:14there and look out that's what they do with what they've done with javi bias he's been repurposed
12:18into a center fielder so i don't think it totally closes the door on it but i you have to
12:23entertain
12:23everything and unturn every stone there and these are organizations that desperately want to add
12:30scoobal so how desperate are they if they trade scoobal it sounds like a price has at least the
12:38framework for what a deal would look like a controllable pitch a controllable pitcher back
12:42and prospects and we just gave you the list that they put together the athletic from contending
12:48teams the controllable pitcher controllable pitchers that might be available would you be happy with
