00:00Heather has no confidence for our movie game at 7-0-2.
00:04Before we get to it, wrap up the Scoobble conversation.
00:06What makes it worth it?
00:07We think he's staying.
00:08What makes it worth it?
00:09Let's go to Ray in Commerce.
00:10Ray, good morning.
00:12Good morning, John.
00:13I'm disappointed in you.
00:15I had every intention of finding a way to get onto the radio this morning
00:19to rip on your counterpart, Jim, because he doesn't use his grill.
00:22Or if he has a grill, I believe it's electric.
00:25I don't like that, Jim.
00:26You need to shape up and be a man.
00:27But, John, when we're talking about the playoffs and we're talking about the Tigers,
00:33you'd like to think that as a former football player, you'd have that competitive spirit about you
00:38and you'd want to do something more than just show up to the party.
00:41You'd actually want to go there and do damage.
00:43I mean, the Tigers right now are like a cockroach.
00:45Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, Ray.
00:46Hold on.
00:47I want to go to the World Series.
00:48I want to show up and I want to win that wild card series.
00:51I want to win the ALDS.
00:53I want to be in the postseason versus sitting at home and wishing that maybe we had two more wins
01:01and if we had Scooble instead of selling them at the deadline, we could have had those two wins.
01:05I don't know if we get those wins.
01:07I don't know if we get to the postseason.
01:09I'd rather have the shot.
01:11How about you sit there and you're like, oh, okay, well, we're a first-round exit.
01:15That's a failure.
01:16There's no question about it.
01:18But I would rather be in the postseason versus not having sold Scooble and then sitting there going,
01:24well, we missed by a game.
01:26Could we have made it with Scooble?
01:28Right.
01:29If we were to sell Scooble, yeah, I still would love to make the postseason and be able to have
01:35some fun.
01:35That's where if you just get in, I'd have some fun.
01:38But if you're not selling Scooble and you're keeping them, then you've got to get farther than you were last
01:43year.
01:44And the Tigers still have a load of ground to make up here in order to even get in.
01:49They're like a cockroach to me.
01:50Like, just die so we can sell Scooble and we can actually move forward.
01:54They're going to keep them.
01:55I don't want to be like the Angels.
01:57I know.
01:58And you see what the Angels would never make the postseason?
02:01Well, his thing was Otani.
02:02I agree.
02:02He's referencing Otani.
02:04Like Mike Trout.
02:05Right.
02:06Well, yeah, Trout ended up staying, but Otani left and they got nothing for him.
02:10Well, comp pick aside.
02:12And what's the issue with my corded electric grill?
02:18I love it that people are just waking up wanting to take shots at you.
02:21It's kind of like I feel heard.
02:24I feel like we have connected with our listener.
02:27At least I have.
02:28Like there are times I wake up and I just want to take my shots at you.
02:32And you put a couple nine volts in and you fire it up and you make burgers and dogs.
02:36Hopefully it's just for your starter.
02:39248-539-9797.
02:41Mike in Dearborn, good morning.
02:43Good morning, gentlemen.
02:45Good morning.
02:46I just want to talk.
02:47You know, I think keeping Scooble would be worth it if we could add.
02:51That's going to give us the best chances in the postseason.
02:54The ultimate goal is to win the World Series.
02:56And I don't think we're going to get enough in return for Terrick Scooble.
02:59I wouldn't take just two top 100 prospects.
03:03That would look kind of foolish to me.
03:05I know we want to think about the future.
03:07But without 2027, you know, kind of being in a limbo, I'm trying to win now.
03:13Somebody that can hit lefties because that seems to be a big weakness of ours.
03:17Yesterday we struggled, you know, against the Angels, you know, starting pitching.
03:20So, if we could get some bullpen arms and a bat that can hit lefties, I think we're solid.
03:27And then it's just, unfortunately, some of the teams, you know, some of the players I wanted,
03:32those teams are doing pretty good, like the Orioles and the Padres.
03:35They might not be sellers.
03:36So, you know, when you're looking at, you know, the Rockies, I don't really see any bats.
03:42And, you know, the Giants, teams of that nature.
03:46But, yeah, I'm not letting Scott Harris off the hook for keeping Schuble.
03:50But I do think it's the right move to keep him as long as you add.
03:55Well, you could certainly feel better about keeping him if you were doing everything you could to move in the
04:01postseason.
04:01Right.
04:02Because they stalled out at the same spot.
04:03And that's kind of what I said.
04:04To make it worth it, it's not just make the playoffs.
04:08Well, but here's the issue, is we won't know the answer to this question.
04:14And if you sell him, you may not know the answer to the question for two or three years.
04:18They could also make the playoffs after selling him two.
04:20They could.
04:21They have a damn good starting rotation with or without Schuble.
04:23My point is, if you get a top 100 prospect, or two of them, or three of them, whatever.
04:28He said two.
04:29I wouldn't think that's a bad return at all.
04:31But you have no idea if those prospects are ever going to make the major league.
04:35And then you look back three years later, like we do on the Verlander trade, going,
04:38what, we got Jake Rogers?
04:40And so, I mean, you won't know the results for some time, most likely.
04:46And maybe in a couple of years, if you sell Schuble, you look back and you go,
04:52man, that was one of the greatest trades in Tiger's history,
04:56because you've got X, Y, and Z, and look what they're doing now.
05:00To me, it's just playing the odds or what's most likely to happen.
05:04You could play for lightning in a bottle with Schuble, which is what I think they're going to do.
05:07And if they are, please, please add.
05:09Not like what they did last year, but like real additions.
05:12There's the lightning in the bottle that they make a run to the World Series or win it.
05:16That's lightning in a bottle.
05:17I think those chances are pretty low.
05:19I think if he leaves and you get a comp pick, it's one draft pick outside the top 32.
05:26The chance of that guy hitting is probably lower than getting two guys in the top 100 of all the
05:31prospects
05:31who are already moving up in team systems.
05:35So, that's why I prefer that path.
05:37The thing that gives the most likely.
05:39And yes, I mean, everybody's going to say, well, because of the staff and who knows how long Casey Mize,
05:44is he going to be out?
05:45Is he not?
05:46Is he here?
05:48If you sell Schuble, your odds aren't as good that you're going to make the postseason.
05:53You still can.
05:54There's no question about it.
05:56But are your odds better to make the postseason with Tarek Schuble?
06:01Yeah, of course.
06:03But the strength of this team is the starting rotation.
06:06You could trade Schuble, who, by the way, is not an automatic win.
06:09Far from it.
06:10When he's on the mound.
06:11I believe they're 5-7 in his last 12 starts.
06:17So, it's not like he's this auto-win and if you take him away, your team collapses.
06:21He's never been the auto-win.
06:22If he was the auto-win, we would have been the ALCS last year.
06:25That's a good point.
06:26248-539-9797.
06:28Some text coming in with some of your thoughts.
06:31It says, if there's no baseball next year, why trade him?
06:34For garbage prospects?
06:35Screw it.
06:36Take the pick.
06:37Give it a run.
06:38That's from Tony.
06:39Another says, Schuble will just take himself out of the must-win game in the playoffs.
06:43Huge pass.
06:45Boys were not even a 500 team and we're talking about they got to make the World Series.
06:49Six and a half out of the division.
06:51Yeah.
06:52Well, they don't have to win the division to make the postseason.
06:54Good point.
06:55The only acceptable outcome if you don't trade Schuble is a World Series appearance.
06:58Otherwise, you lost him for nothing and set the franchise back.
07:01Agree with John.
07:02Make the postseason.
07:03Give yourself a chance with an extremely good rotation.
07:06If you get bounced in a three-game series, oh well.
07:08Nothing's guaranteed in October.
07:10Yeah.
07:11The mindset by John is exactly why these GMs don't make bigger moves.
07:15Just get in?
07:16Are you kidding me?
07:16That's not worth keeping, Tarek Schuble.
07:19I'm not saying just get in and lose.
07:23That's one of the possible outcomes.
07:25I'm saying just get in and then see what happens.
07:29You might make a historical run.
07:33Are the odds in the favor that that's going to happen?
07:36No.
07:37But I would sure like a seat at the table.
07:39I want to play.
07:4197-1.
07:42Get in and see what happens.
07:42Get in and see what happens.
07:43Get in and see what happens.
07:44Get in and see what happens.
07:46Get in and see what happens.
07:46Get in and see what happens.
07:46Get in and see what happens.
07:46You
