00:00Does that sound like a guy who just made his last start
00:01in a Tiger uniform? That's Tarek Skubal.
00:03Well, I think he knows the reality.
00:07It's not like he's a first or second
00:10year guy trying to figure out if this
00:12is personal or business. This is all business.
00:14And yeah, I think he
00:16understands it. I think AJ
00:18ultimately understands it the most.
00:20Hopefully, Scott Harris does.
00:22AJ didn't want to engage in hypotheticals
00:24after the game. I can respect
00:26that. Some of his teammates
00:28did talk about it. I think Casey Mize
00:30had some quotes about, you know, he hopes
00:32this isn't the end, but said some nice things
00:34about having him as a teammate. This
00:36is very much on the table, and it's
00:38it has to be after a game like that.
00:41Jeff Passan, ESPN.
00:42They're going to trade Tarek Skubal, right?
01:19All right.
01:43The, I'll ask a question in his,
01:51haven't engaged with teams yet?
01:55Haven't gone to teams yet?
01:57And, and I say that as a question because I have never been involved in a trade deadline,
02:04especially in major league baseball.
02:05I don't know if, is this SOP standard, standard operating procedure where you wait for teams
02:14and you know, all of the teams that you're going to be talking about, because a couple
02:18of weeks ago, and I would even say maybe a month ago, I know everybody talks about the
02:24Dodgers.
02:24Dodgers weren't really in it because they had Shohei Ohtani as a pitcher.
02:30Now, all of a sudden, they may not have him as a pitcher.
02:34They got him as a batter, but he missed his last bullpen start because of, of, you know,
02:39aggravation to the knee.
02:41Yeah, they have a few question marks.
02:43Glasgow, Snell, they expect those guys back, but they're currently out right now.
02:46The Dodgers are more seriously in the mix.
02:48But I, I, I raised the question because it feels like these should have been ongoing conversations
02:54for some time.
02:56Even if you ultimately didn't trade him, they should be, you know, Hey, what, what is, what
03:02does a trade look like?
03:03What, what, what are you willing to give up?
03:05And then as things change, as situations change, maybe more teams are added and maybe more players
03:11are added to the deal because the team becomes more desperate.
03:14You asked, is it SOP standard operating procedure?
03:18I truly don't know.
03:19I'm curious.
03:22Or is it SOS?
03:25Same old Scott, because he waited to the very end with Eduardo Rodriguez.
03:30And we see other teams making trades, so it's not always the, the, uh, a Monday at five
03:3659 deal, but I want to specifically with Eduardo, if they had tried to trade him to the Dodgers
03:40one day early, they would have found out he wouldn't go there.
03:45And then they would have had a day to pivot and adjust.
03:47But if you walk it up to the final day in the interest of getting the biggest return,
03:52you get left holding a bag.
03:54And it's what happened to him in his first trade deadline last year was a disgrace is
03:58his attempt at buying.
03:59Well, you could get left holding the bag, but you also could get more in the bag.
04:02You can, but you also have to be very careful.
04:05This is an important decision for Scott Harris.
04:07This is an important decision for the Detroit Tigers.
04:08Oh, I think this is a, this could be a career maker or a breaker.
04:13So whether he's talked to these teams seriously or not, it's expected that he will and that
04:19they will trade Tarek Scoble.
04:22Brewers, Dodgers, other teams keep coming up, but the Dodgers are a team passing continues
04:26to say, that's the favorite.
04:29That's the favorite.
05:16Well, if the Brewers want to do it, Jesus Made probably gets it done.
05:24Again, my gut is they're not moving my day.
05:27So that might mean the Brewers don't get Tarek Scoble.
05:29Yeah.
05:30Then he goes to the Dodgers.
05:31That doesn't mean they couldn't still put together a competitive package.
05:33They've got six top 100 prospects.
05:35And I think their seventh guy, by the way, I keep hearing about this Andrew Fisher, third
05:38baseman, real power, thousand OPS.
05:41I think he's in double A.
05:42He could be an attractive piece in the deal too.
05:44You're hoping that that bidding war is starting to take place.
05:47Right.
05:48Where the Dodgers ultimately can trump any deal.
05:50They have the most top 100 prospects.
05:52They have a bunch of these outfielders.
05:53We would love to stock the system with some good bats, some outfielders.
05:57There's a deal to be made here.
05:59And we all, I mean, we all know that the Dodgers are willing to just spend more in terms of
06:05dollars
06:05than anyone else.
06:06They just, cause they can, the same with the Yankees, but it just annoys you that they're
06:12such a well-run organization that they also have that many in the pipeline that they can
06:18spend in terms of a, this is our capital that we can go and trade with because we have all
06:25these all-stars in our lineup and we don't need the number eight overall prospect in baseball.
06:33He's blocked.
06:34If you were doing radio in LA, it's also 97 one out there too, by the way, our Odyssey
06:39station, you wouldn't bat an eye.
06:41You go, yeah, take your pick.
06:42Maybe they want to keep DePaulo their number one prospect.
06:45Take any two that you want.
06:46We want Tarek Skubal.
06:47No one's beating that deal.
06:48Take your pick.
06:49Take your pick of our next top two prospects that fit your system.
06:54Was you really bad?
06:54And now you're chasing the three Pete and you think you can keep Skubal.
06:57So it doesn't even necessarily mean it's a rental.
06:59It's the no brainer of no brainers.
07:01The Dodgers should swoop in and go, Hey, Hey, Sky Harris, what's your best deal?
07:04What's the best deal out there?
07:05Plus one plus one.
07:08There you go.
07:08A dollar more.
07:12You're a, you're at the silent auction and, and you're doing it online and you've, you've
07:16set your max bid.
07:17And anytime somebody bids, it's just automatically over top one penny more.
07:20Thank you very much.
07:23If I'm calling my shot, I mean, doesn't that sound like where it's going to be?
07:27It does.
07:29It does.
07:29But I, I just don't want them to end up a Dodger.
07:32That would just rub salt into an already open wound.
07:36Yeah.
07:36But your, your family, your, your in-laws would love it.
07:39Your wife would love it.
07:39Right?
07:40She's Dodger fan.
07:41Yeah.
07:41But ask me if I care.
07:43Sean hates his family.
07:44Two, four, eight, five, three, nine, 97, 97.
07:47I would prefer him to go to the Brewers too.
07:49It's a better story.
07:50They've never won a world series.
07:51They got a bunch of hitters we could take too.
07:53Hey, the best audio we haven't even played yet.
07:55Marossi next 97 one.
