03:19Good evening Trinidad and Tobago
03:21And to our global audience
03:22This is Beyond the Tape
03:23I'm your host Whitney Husbands
03:25And today
03:26It is Friday
03:27Yes it is
03:28It is a brand new month
03:30And we're ending
03:31The work week
03:32With a bang
03:33Yes we are
03:34Because many of us
03:35Are out and about
03:36And trying to be
03:37Law abiding citizens
03:38As best as we can
03:39Now it's May 1st
03:41And earlier on
03:42May 1st
03:43Jelena Armstrong
03:45Was laid to rest
03:47Family and friends
03:48Joined in a procession
03:50To say their goodbyes
03:52Now we see here
03:54This is like family
03:54Friends
03:55School
03:57Mates of hers
03:59Supporters
03:59Supporters
04:00Persons who
04:00Knew this young girl
04:02Who had a bright future
04:03Ahead of her
04:05And it was just sad to see
04:06But she was laid
04:07To rest today
04:09And as you can see
04:10The numbers
04:11Of persons who showed up
04:13Again it's really sad
04:16And just so you know
04:18As well
04:18There's going to be
04:19A peace walk
04:20And candlelight vigil
04:22This Saturday
04:23At 5pm
04:24At Woodford Square
04:26Alright
04:27That is
04:27Saturday
04:28The 2nd of me
04:30At Woodford Square
04:32Just sad, sad, sad news
04:34There
04:34Now also
04:36Murders in the
04:37Windy Hill
04:38Aruka
04:38And Tunapuno area
04:40And on April 30
04:42Her father was shot
04:43And killed
04:44As he sat in his vehicle
04:46Behind the food court
04:47At the Queen's Park
04:48More on this
04:50Today's show
04:51And of course
04:51To guide us
04:52And also to educate us
04:54We have ASP Russell
04:55Here with us
04:55My co-host as usual
04:56Because it's Friday
04:57And you know
04:58When it's Friday
04:59We are here
04:59To deliver
05:00Before we close up
05:01The week ASP
05:02Good evening
05:03Miss Husbands
05:04Good evening
05:05Trinidad and Tobago
05:05And to our international viewers
05:07On behalf of the
05:07Commissioner of Police
05:08Deputy Commissioners
05:10Assistant Commissioners
05:11And 1st and 2nd Division
05:12Officers of the
05:13Esteemed
05:14Trinidad and Tobago
05:15Police Service
05:16As usual
05:17It's a pleasure
05:17Being here with you
05:18Yes
05:18It's a Friday
05:19It's a Friday
05:20With pay
05:22Yes
05:23And we know
05:23There are activities
05:24As well
05:25On this weekend
05:26So I want to open
05:27The show
05:27By first
05:28You know
05:29Sending condolences
05:30Again to the family
05:31Of the
05:33Armstrong
05:34Of Miss Armstrong
05:34That was buried today
05:36And I want to
05:38Throw out a challenge
05:39To Trinidad and Tobago
05:40Especially those
05:41Looking at home
05:42You know
05:42When would we
05:44Really start to do
05:46Something collaboratively
05:47With respect to crime
05:48Yeah
05:49When would we start
05:51Tell the young boy
05:53Across the road
05:54Or your son
05:55Or your nephew
05:56Or your cousin
05:57Or your niece
05:58Or your daughter
05:59Or your sister
06:00Who you know
06:04Involving criminal activity
06:06To change from their ways
06:08How many more incidents
06:10Like this
06:11How many more
06:12Parents must cry
06:14How many more
06:14Relatives must cry
06:17And I commend
06:18And I applaud
06:19The peace work
06:20And I hope
06:22That people
06:22Show up
06:23In their numbers
06:24To really
06:26Send a clear message
06:27But sending
06:28A clear message
06:29Isn't enough
06:30Action
06:31We need that action
06:34We need the community
06:35To get back
06:36To that place
06:37Of union
06:38Of love
06:39Of togetherness
06:41Of oneness
06:43We sing about
06:44Building back
06:45The love
06:45And the trust
06:46In communities
06:46But do we really
06:47Want to
06:48And it starts
06:49With you
06:50The community
06:51But
06:52It's a Friday
06:53Yeah
06:54And we have to
06:55Proceed with the show
06:56And a lot to unravel
06:58And you spoke about
06:59Where's the love
07:00And the action
07:00And us as adults
07:02Doing better
07:02And we mentioned
07:03A few seconds ago
07:05Literally
07:05Where we saw
07:06A father's life
07:07That was taken away
07:08In front of his son
07:09Again we continue
07:10To traumatize
07:12Our children now
07:13Dad gone down
07:14In front
07:14Son
07:15At the Queen's Park
07:16Savannah
07:16Or was after
07:17Attending a funeral
07:18For one of the people
07:19Killed on April 19th
07:21Along Lady Young Road
07:22Mover
07:22A 49 year old father
07:24Was killed in front
07:25Of his 9 year old son
07:27In the food court area
07:28Of the Queen's Park
07:29Savannah
07:30Portis Queen
07:30Yesterday
07:31Around 5.38pm
07:33We see
07:34Masaud Prosper
07:36Of Bella Road
07:37Belmont
07:38Parked his black
07:39Mitsubishi Lancer
07:40In the area
07:41Behind the food court
07:42After picking up
07:43His son
07:44From football practice
07:45As the two
07:46Sat in the car
07:47A gunman approached
07:49An open fire
07:49Hitting Prosper
07:50Several times
07:51He was killed
07:53Instantly
07:53His son
07:54Was not hurt
07:55Prosper's common law
07:56Wife
07:57Adisha Pia
07:58Later arrived
07:58On the scene
07:59With her daughter
08:00She said
08:01Prosper was a driver
08:02With the Ministry of Health
08:03And had been employed
08:04There for several years
08:06She said
08:07And I quote
08:07As I stand up here
08:09Speaking to you
08:10All I was thinking
08:11He would have been
08:13Having a time
08:14Playing football
08:14But they killed him
08:16In front of his own son
08:17They killed him
08:18While he was picking up
08:20His child
08:20And since I have been
08:22With this man
08:22I know him
08:24To be in any kind
08:25Of violence
08:25And no gang
08:27Related activities
08:28She said
08:28She continues
08:29He goes to work
08:31He minds his business
08:32He comes home
08:33And he sees
08:34About his son
08:35He's a single father
08:37Out there
08:38Trying his best
08:38And he didn't deserve
08:40That at all
08:41She said
08:41Prosper had attended
08:42The funeral
08:43For one of the four
08:44People killed
08:45On the night
08:46Of April 19
08:46Along Lady Young
08:48Road
08:48ESP
08:49Well firstly
08:50We send condolences
08:51To the families
08:52Friends
08:53Relatives
08:53Of Mr. Prosper
08:55Of course
08:56And I would say
08:57If you see something
08:58Say something
08:59800-TIPS
09:00555-999
09:03But that isn't enough
09:05Yes
09:05Change starts with you
09:07Trinidad and Tobago
09:09Change starts with you
09:10This gun violence
09:12That we are
09:13Continuously seeing
09:14The police service
09:17We really try
09:18Trying to keep up
09:19With the peace
09:20And trying to keep
09:20Our stuttered
09:22Maintain and improve
09:23Our solvability rate
09:24But sometimes
09:25Even we
09:26As we try
09:27To do the police
09:28Service
09:29Become overwhelmed
09:32There's only so much
09:33Of us
09:33Hence the reason
09:34We call for the
09:35Continuous partnership
09:36Between us
09:37And the public
09:38And I would say
09:39It loud and clear
09:40For those who
09:41Choose not to listen
09:42We would not always
09:44Get it right
09:44And sometimes
09:45We will disappoint you
09:47But we will do
09:48Our best to learn
09:49From our mistakes
09:50I've been accused
09:50Of making the show
09:52In the PR show
09:53And only coming
09:54And speaking
09:54Positive things
09:55About the police
09:56Service
09:56But while we
09:57Trying to fix
09:58The negatives
09:59We have to tell you
10:00Of the positive
10:01Things that we are
10:01Doing as well
10:03But in the near future
10:05We hope that you
10:06Would see
10:06The improvement
10:08You would feel safer
10:10That's all we want
10:10To do
10:11Feel safer
10:12Feel comfortable
10:13Come out here
10:14And enforce
10:15We want your cooperation
10:17Because if we have to
10:18Leave the savannah
10:19Or go around the savannah
10:20This is where
10:21Your interaction
10:22And understanding
10:23Is important
10:24If the patrols
10:26Have to leave
10:27Or let me see
10:28If you have a patrol
10:28Outside
10:29And you have to leave
10:30To go on
10:30The next side of the savannah
10:31To tell somebody
10:32Put on a muscle
10:33On your dog
10:35There is something
10:35That that person
10:36Could have done
10:37Taking that responsibility
10:39So it frees us up
10:40To deal with
10:41More serious issues
10:42But also apart from that
10:44I mean
10:44If the officers
10:45On patrol
10:46Obviously the criminal elements
10:47Will be watching
10:48When you will be moving
10:49You're not stationary
10:51You're not stationary
10:52So it's not where
10:53They're just there
10:54And then they witness
10:54It happen
10:55And they didn't do anything
10:56And they didn't do anything
10:57Patrol is constant movement
10:58Yeah but
11:00What it is ASP
11:01That is
11:02I know you can't really
11:03Answer for the criminals
11:04Because that's a
11:05Stupid question to ask
11:06But more so
11:07It gives
11:08The criminal elements
11:10Out there
11:10They feel like
11:11They really have the right
11:13To do what they're doing
11:14Anytime, anywhere, any place
11:16Because they don't have
11:17Any sort of
11:18Free I'm going to use
11:20Towards the TTPS
11:20Well and
11:22It goes
11:24Even further than that
11:25Because
11:27Some people
11:28And we are a country
11:29That switch our moral compass
11:31On and off
11:32Based on the circumstances
11:33When you are the victim
11:35Your moral compass is on
11:37But when you're not the victim
11:38Your moral compass comes off
11:40And we have to really
11:42Do the right thing
11:42Because it's the right thing
11:43To do
11:44Change starts with you
11:45So we categorize
11:48But all I'm doing
11:49Is walking my dog
11:50Without a muzzle
11:51Go on run
11:52Down men
11:52Who are serious crime
11:53The man who walk
11:54In the street
11:55Smoking the weed
11:56Find him
11:56Mustn't tell him nothing
11:57Go on run
11:57Down the man
11:58Who pushing cocaine
11:59The man who pushing cocaine
12:00Telling him
12:01I just pushing cocaine
12:02Why you going to run
12:02Me and shooting the body
12:03Go on run
12:04Down the man with the gun
12:05And everybody wants
12:06To tell the police service
12:07What to do
12:08Because everybody wants
12:09Convenient policing
12:10It doesn't work so
12:12We policing everything
12:14But you know what
12:15You're the members
12:16Of the public
12:17When you commit something
12:19As simple as a traffic infringement
12:22And we issue you
12:23A fixed penalty
12:25You knowing that you're on fine
12:27We are the wrong ones
12:28For issuing you a ticket
12:29We are the wrong ones
12:30For telling you
12:31Put the dog on a leech
12:32We are the wrong ones
12:33For telling you
12:34Put on a muzzle on the dog
12:35That is so simple
12:37We shouldn't even
12:37Have to come before you
12:39To remind you
12:40Hey
12:40You need to get insurance
12:41For your dangerous dog
12:43We shouldn't have to
12:43Come before you
12:44To tell your neighbor
12:45Neighbor you need to be
12:46Considerate when playing
12:47Your music
12:49The police come
12:51The police tell you
12:52To lower your dog
12:53And as the police
12:53Turn your razor back up
12:55That time you're responding
12:56To something else
12:57A little more serious
12:58So we can't come back
12:59To tell you
13:00Turn your dog again
13:00Immediately
13:01So you know
13:01We give a bad name
13:02I call them
13:03And they didn't come
13:03Or they came late
13:06We are dealing
13:07With our children
13:08And we need you
13:09To do your part
13:10So that we
13:11Could really focus
13:13On a lot of the
13:14Serious stuff
13:14That's causing
13:15This mayhem
13:16In this country
13:17As the citizens fear
13:18The criminal elements
13:20Have no fear
13:21It's just really sad
13:23Now we had many cases
13:25Where persons have called
13:26And we saw stories
13:27With persons
13:28Who are extortionists
13:30And let's just say
13:31And let's just say
13:32The CTPS is standing
13:33For when it comes
13:34To those who want
13:35To extort individuals
13:36So a suspected
13:37Extortionist
13:38Killed during police
13:39Operation
13:40Two arrested
13:41Third suspect
13:42Being sought
13:42The operation
13:43Which initiated
13:45Following a report
13:46By a business owner
13:47Who indicated
13:48That over a three week
13:49Period
13:50He had been
13:51Coerced into paying
13:52A total of
13:54$1,800
13:55To an individual
13:56Who made demands
13:57Via telephone
13:59And collected the money
14:00In prison
14:00The suspect further
14:02Demanded a monthly
14:03Payment of $3,000
14:04Beginning on April 30th
14:082026
14:09That was literally
14:10Yesterday
14:11Yesterday
14:12Based on this report
14:14Officers mounted
14:15A coordinated operation
14:17At the business location
14:18During which
14:19Marked cash
14:20Was prepared
14:21While awaiting
14:22The suspect's arrival
14:23The victim received
14:25An additional demand
14:26Of $500
14:27Which was also prepared
14:29And included
14:29In the payment
14:30At approximately
14:314.15pm
14:32The suspect arrived
14:33At the location
14:34In a black
14:36Hyundai Tucson
14:37Motor vehicle
14:38Parked along
14:39The said street

14:55A firearm
14:56And pointed it
14:57In the direction
14:57Of one of the officers
14:59Apprehending immediate
15:00Fear for their lives
15:02Both officers

15:29What I want to say
15:30To Trinidad and Tobago
15:32I applaud that businessman
15:34For his cooperation
15:35With the Trinidad and Tobago
15:36Police Service
15:38That is what we call
15:40Coming together
15:42He went to the police
15:43And we had a
15:44Sting operation
15:45Finally
15:47And we do have
15:48A lot of sting operations
15:49I tell you
15:50Apprehended persons
15:51But you see
15:51Persons have to have
15:53That level of
15:53That braveness
15:55That courage
15:55To come forward
15:57And trust that
15:58We have you
16:00So we need
16:01To send a message
16:02Clearly a message
16:03Was sent
16:04With respect to

16:16Extortion
16:17There are some
16:18People
16:18Children
16:19Who don't
16:19Want to work
16:20For nothing
16:23And you
16:24They coming home
16:25And they buying
16:25Nice gifts
16:26For the girlfriend
16:27And nice gifts
16:27For mommy
16:28For mother's day
16:29And nice gifts
16:30For daddy
16:30For daddy's day
16:31And nobody
16:32Is asking
16:33Where you are
16:33Getting this money
16:34From
16:35But they always
16:36Know who wrong
16:36When they are
16:37The ones
16:37Encouraging it
16:38As well
16:40So I want to
16:41See how the
16:42Public
16:42Go find
16:42This is the
16:43Police fault
16:43Also
16:45But 797-3150
16:48797-3150
16:49That's the

16:56With this
16:57Do not

16:58Every person
17:00That gives them
17:01Makes them feel
17:02They have the
17:03Right to demand

17:27You see the

17:28This is a
17:29Result of the
17:30Partnership
17:30So we now
17:31Have
17:31We had
17:31Two persons
17:32In custody
17:32And one

17:34Unfortunately

23:49A message from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
24:03And welcome back.
24:04Now, ASP, we mentioned with the SOA update
24:07where we saw the dangerous drugs.
24:09And one of them that we saw a major spike
24:11was the cocaine.
24:12Now, according to the TBS media release,
24:14over 36 million worth in cocaine
24:17seized following vehicle interception in Freeport.
24:20The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
24:22seized 72 packages of cocaine
24:25following a coordinated vehicle interception exercise
24:28in Freeport during the early hours
24:30of Thursday to April 2026.
24:33Officers attached to the Freeport Police Station
24:35acting on a hot pursuit transmission
24:38engaged a silver Nissan B-15 motor vehicle.
24:42The pursuit is coordinated by the National Operations Center
24:45and officers of the Freeport Highway Patrol
24:48ended when the vehicle stopped abruptly
24:51at the end of the roadway.
24:53One male occupant exited the vehicle
24:55and fled into a nearby or nearby bushes,
24:58evading capture despite an extensive search operation
25:02conducted by officers of the CID,
25:07CID, and Central Division Task Force CDTF.
25:12A subsequent search of the vehicle conducted by officers
25:15resulted in the discovery of one black garbage bag
25:19and two white bags containing multiple packages
25:22of white powdery substances resembling cocaine.
25:27Further examination of the Freeport Police Station
25:29revealed 23 individually wrapped packages in one bag,
25:3425 individually wrapped packages in a second bag,
25:37and 24 individually wrapped packages in a third bag.
25:42This brings a total to 72 individually wrapped packages
25:47of cocaine with a total weighing of 77.8 kilos valued at $36,167,577.60.
25:59And just to mention, during the search of the vehicle,
26:02officers also discovered a wallet containing several forms
26:05of identification and official documents
26:08which have provided strong leads into the identity
26:11of the suspects linked in the incident.
26:15So good work.
26:17Good work by the members of Chantebigo Police Service.
26:19They would have saved many lives because cocaine is a drug
26:22that is very, very addictive.
26:23And I have seen that use of cocaine destroy so many lives.
26:27And I like the use of the mention of highway and patrol,
26:32highway traffic branch for sure.
26:33What I like about it, I remember I was speaking about them yesterday,
26:35about the stolen contribution the Traffic and Highway Patrol branch make
26:40when they see them on the highway,
26:42because they are very crucial with respect to interception of vehicles.
26:47And I commend them again.
26:48I commend the members of the Central Division Task Force and CID
26:51and all those who were part of this exercise.
26:55$36 million worth of cocaine.
26:59Yes.
27:00You know how much lives would have been saved
27:02by this not hitting the streets and see where it was on the roadway
27:08in our vehicle, yet still we still quarreling when we see a roadblock.
27:14We still upset any hour of the day, any time.
27:18When you see this person's arm monetizing people going by the ATM,
27:22most of the time it's daytime.
27:23Yes.
27:24That's why we need them.
27:25And when they're rubbing a lot of the time, it's in the daytime.
27:27That is why we need to have the continuous road surveillance,
27:31the continuous roadblock, the continuous random stop and searches.
27:36Yes, there may cause you some level of inconvenience.
27:38You know that in Tobago.
27:39But it's the help.
27:40Because you could be that targeted.
27:42Yes.
27:43And we could stop somebody who, probably two cars in front of you,
27:47and the cars with the criminal might be five cars behind.
27:50But you know what could have happened?
27:52The person who was following you might decide,
27:56nah, by police outside, boy, I turn him back.
27:59You don't know what we would have saved you from.
28:03So cooperate with the police, please.
28:05Yeah?
28:06You didn't proud, no?
28:07As in seeing what has happened?
28:09Well, I would say something, eh?
28:11I am most times proud of my organization.
28:17Even when we have our little issues or issues of corruption,
28:21I am of the strong opinion and firm belief
28:24that it is the minority of officers
28:28that are committing the magnitude of these offenses,
28:35just like the majority of Trinidad and Tobago
28:37are a law-abiding citizens.
28:41However, there is a minority
28:42who are hell-bent on creating havoc within our society.
28:46And these are the elements we need to come together to fight against.
28:51And I would say something further.
28:53I don't know how much persons follow world news
28:56or look at the trend going up the Caribbean.
28:58But a lot of those Caribbean destinations
29:02have a crime issue as well.
29:04Yes, gun violence.
29:04There was a triple murder in one of those countries.
29:07Recently, I won't call the country name on air.
29:10But the crime situation
29:11is not something specific to Trinidad and Tobago.
29:17So we need that unity, even amongst CARICOM.
29:20But we move on.
29:21All right.
29:22We need to take that break.
29:23We'll be back.

32:06Now, ASP, we continue to see home invasions happening, and this one in particular was a scary one. Any home
32:12invasion is scary, but a woman who was terrorized for 45 minutes in a home invasion ordeal was really sad.
32:18A series of home invasions occurred in Londonville early yesterday morning.
32:23Among the victims was a 44-year-old resident of Raghu Nanan Road. The woman speaking to the express yesterday
32:31asked to go unnamed as she fears for her life.
32:34She shared that during the ordeal, which lasted 45 minutes, she was terrorized by three masked-armed criminals who appeared
32:44to be in their early 20s again.
32:47At the time of the incident, she was home alone when around 2.30 a.m., she was alerted to
32:53a noise outside, and on checking her camera system, noticed that the cameras were all out of their usual positions.
33:29She said,
33:31T-shirts and boots. They were asking for money, gold, and a safe, which I don't have. There was a
33:37quantity of cash that I had in the wallet, and they took the cash, and they started to ransack everything.
33:44Yes.
33:47Home invasion is a very sad and emotional activity, and my heart goes out to all the victims of home
34:01invasion.
34:03When I hear of the torture that these criminal elements put these people through, I smile, Ms. Husband, because what
34:16comes to my mind, I don't want to say on air.
34:19I think a lot of us really say more.
34:21What comes to my mind, and I want to believe that people are picking these targets because there is somebody
34:33in the neighborhood who is giving the criminal elements, the information that this house has a retired couple, so it's
34:42an easy task.
34:43This house has a female alone, so it's an easy task. Hence the reason we tell you, from the time
34:49you suspect persons, make that call.
34:52Better we come and we execute a search warrant on the house based on information we have to let them
34:59know that we are aware that you think, all right, or you respond passively towards it.
35:06When you see the blood gathering and the strange elements coming in, notify the police so we can start to
35:12put that pressure.
35:13Yes, but what could persons do to protect themselves? Especially, well, I should say the space are there in their
35:19home.
35:20They are, and your home is your castle.
35:22Yeah.
35:22Not everybody is blessed with a gift, but I will tell you this, protect your space. Home invasion, tips for
35:28an entity, TPS.
35:29Be in the know. Take note of unfamiliar vehicle and persons. I'm not just saying that.
35:33Yes.
35:35Lingering around without a clear purpose. Be careful of the workmen who you hire to come to your house to
35:43do repairs.
35:44Keep your valuables out of sight. Verify all persons who claim to come to your homes.
35:51We have to be aware of these things. Ask a person to show their ID. Even ask for their national
35:55ID card so you can marry their work ID with that of their ID card.
35:59Take necessary notes. They come in to you to do business. Make sure you are comfortable.
36:05Light up and lock up. Install motion sensors and alarms. Keep entrances well lit.
36:10And in this situation, the lady had cameras.
36:12Yes.
36:12So it has to mean that they went, they know where the cameras had to take a stick and they
36:16pushed them off.
36:17And it was gated, by the way.
36:18In a gated.
36:19We can't give the entire story. They have to use a gated community.
36:22In a gated community.
36:23And they were timing the security.
36:25Watch what you share. Avoid telling strangers your schedule, who's home, who's not home, where you're traveling to, where you're
36:33going for the weekend, who is coming in from the U.S. and etc.
36:37Avoid posting each other plans. Stop sharing your life location on social media.
36:43That is weird as well.
36:44And it's strange because it happened in a gated community.
36:47Yeah, a gated community with the security that was on patrol.
36:49Where was the security because you are paying HOA fees?
36:52No, they were making the wrongs. That's how they were able to get the lady.
36:55I mean, we couldn't go further in depth, but they were there.
36:58And that is when she came out because they tied her up twice.
37:01She tried to escape once and it tied her up, tied her feet, and then eventually when she realized she
37:06wasn't hearing any more noise, she made her way out.
37:09And at the same time, the patrol was now approaching again.
37:13Again, you see patrol again.
37:14We have a caller on the line.
37:16Caller, good evening.
37:18Good afternoon, my dear Jackie.
37:21And good afternoon to the senior officer there.
37:26Sir, sir, my name is Whitney.
37:28Good evening, caller.
37:29Yes, all good.
37:30Good day, good day, good day.
37:32Sorry, Miss Whitney.
37:33It's okay.
37:34All right.
37:35I am going to apologize.
37:39You know something, you know, the police service need to get a lot of credit.
37:46Although times, they can be everywhere at the same time, officer.
37:54But when credit is due, credit is due to the police service.
37:58And a lot of people do not give the police service credit for what they are doing in this country.
38:07You know, but the problem is, is that the powers of being is not regarding the country properly to help
38:18the police fight crime.
38:20Because I will tell you, because I will tell you one reason and why.
38:24Because you don't have the police service needs to help.
38:25You know, you have to help.
38:25You don't have a state emergency with all coping the movements of people in the country.
38:32You cannot have the public moving freely.
38:36Because check the time frame, very few murders that are getting in the day.
38:42And most of the murders, they'll be after 6 in the evening or before 6 in the morning.
38:48So you know you have to call the movements of people to be frightened on the street.
38:54They'll be moving freely because that is what's happening.
38:58Watch these guys who get killed by the savannah there.
39:01You understand? We have a lot of problems with giving the police more power.
39:10Although they have their power during the state of emergency.
39:13But having a co-fuel in the country to restrict the movements of the people of Trinidad on the vehicle,
39:20the police will have a lot more.
39:22So they're seeing a vehicle doing here to stop the vehicle,
39:26pull them aside, take them away because if they're co-fuel, they shouldn't be on the street.
39:32Thank you, caller ESP.
39:34Do you caller have some good ideas? Caller, I like your ideas and I commend your ideas.
39:40Yeah, so we head back to the phone lines. We have a caller on the line at this time.
39:44Caller, good evening.
39:48Hi.
39:50Hi, good evening.
39:51Good evening.
39:51Good evening, caller.
39:55Good evening, caller.
39:59I would have called a couple of days ago regarding a land issue and I wanted your advice.
40:05I actually just wanted to say that this morning actually, with the help of you HDP rectal, I was able
40:14to get the issue sorted with the health of the officers.
40:18And I wanted to say that I really, really appreciated you calling me to follow up on the issue.
40:25And I was very, very happy with how everything played out.
40:29So thank you so much.
40:30And, yeah, for the service definitely has my support 110%.
40:36Sir, I knew on my mind today, you know, because I was wondering if everything worked out.
40:42And I'm happy to hear that.
40:43Like I tell the callers, when I stand before you here, I represent the TTPS.
40:51The truthful ones, the honest ones, the ones that care, the ones that have their heart in this thing.
40:58It's a nano switch off for me.
41:00When you call me, I answer.
41:02I pray for you.
41:03When you need help, I assist.
41:04Caller, thank you for your gratitude for calling and telling us of the experience that you had.
41:10Sir, I appreciate that.
41:11And if more persons who experience good service on the TTPS come and they mention it, people would start to
41:20have that trust in us.
41:22Of course, we still have our odd moments where we do nonsense.
41:26We are human beings.
41:27The earth is human.
41:28But I don't know what's to correct and deal with those who bring the service into ill repute.
41:32Yeah.
41:33We have a caller.
41:33Caller, good evening.
41:36Hello.
41:38I'm going to say good evening to now, Deborah.
41:40Good evening.
41:43Mr.
41:44Hold on.
41:44Mr.
41:45Mr.
41:45Corrie, I want to begin the conversation.
41:53Because I need to do some research.
41:56And there's no way we can search.
42:01So we have to go on our personal experience over the years.
42:08I have been a regular caller to this show for more than 10 years.
42:13And a regular caller.
42:14So let's go into this discussion.
42:17other than the commissioner of police.
42:21Other than the commissioner of police, that anybody will authorize an FUR.
42:26That is one.
42:27And after the commissioner of police gives you the authorization to purchase your weapon.
42:36You have to go to the buyer, the seller, and present the document.
42:42So the seller will not have a copy of the document.
42:47He will just take it back to the commissioner of police.
42:52So even on your FUR file, you will have the CDC bought a weapon number one, two, three.
43:07And on the person's FUR file book, you will have all of the information.
43:13So the information is on the book.
43:14It is at its supplier.
43:17And it has put the department into the state.
43:22Now, to refer to a particular incident, we are not going to call any means.
43:27Because we know it is before an investigation or current court matter.
43:34When I told you that you will also know exactly what dismisses after your wife.
43:47That could be from the next day.
43:50All you have to do is just pull your records.
43:53You will get to ten.
43:56But you only have three.
43:58So seven minutes.
44:00Very, very easy money.
44:03Now the salary.
44:05Would you kindly correct me?
44:07Because this program is based on education in the public.
44:13I know you are a very good diplomat.
44:16So you kindly educate us from there.
44:20Listen out there.
44:21Thank you so much, caller.
44:23We have to take a short break and you will respond to the caller when we return.
44:27We will be back.
44:38Thanks, because have a great day.
44:48See you soon.
44:55Bye.
44:57Bye.
44:57Bye.

46:37A message from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
46:54And we are back. Remember, you can give us a call at 623-1711, extension 1996 and 1997.
47:02ASP, you respond to the caller.
47:04Well, one of the things that I got clearly from the caller is if the commissioner is the person with
47:10the authority to say yes or no with respect to your FUL,
47:13at this point in time, the commissioner is indeed that person, right?
47:18Yes, there's a process. He gives you the letter to go and buy once you're successful,
47:23once you do have your certificate of competence in that particular firearm.
47:27You go to the seller, you produce a thing because you have your books, you go back to the station,
47:31they take the records.
47:32You have an additional stability call, I forget, but you go to the forensic science center and they have you
47:38fire three or they fire the three.
47:40And they get the markings, the ballistics records for that firearm.
47:46So once that firearm is using anything, it can be easily tracked.
47:51So there is a process indeed, caller. With respect to records of firearm, yes, there is issue and there is
48:00sometimes there is a little missing process.
48:04You were speaking about FULs, that FUL is an individual or something.
48:08I am not certain when you talk about the issuing of firearm, if 10 is issued XYZ.
48:14I know there are persons who have more than one firearm, but 10, 15, if someone has that amount, it
48:21would be very, very strange.
48:22I am not certain if you refer to the situation that is occurring in the municipal police because I heard
48:29that you spoke about something that is before the court.
48:32And if it is before the court, I really cannot do any further pronouncement on it as well.
48:39So I answered what I could have answered with respect to your question.
48:43All right. We have a caller. Caller, good evening.
48:46Yes, good evening.
48:47Good evening.
48:48Yes.
48:49Good evening, caller.
48:51I would like to do a big dive and try to look at our society here on CSC.
48:58When I look at the infinity, which of crimes have been committed, it tells me that we have a career
49:07group of criminals.
49:09Right?
49:11I don't want to be alarmed.
49:13But when I look at how it's done, it seems to be pointing out the unfair and reward or devaluing
49:18your victims.
49:19It is a significant community.
49:22But some of these are using drugs and alcohol.
49:25Right?
49:25To cut out the fear and the anxiety and the guilt or the common deterrent to criminal activity.
49:33So they are numb.
49:37Right?
49:38I am living once.
49:40Right?
49:41I am trying to think that I am pleased and looking for expensive clothing and the life.
49:47You know, it has a different way of thinking.
49:49And then they demonstrate that power orientation.
49:53Right?
49:54Extinality and true love of self-discipline.
49:57Like self-discipline to exit, power, and true love of others.
50:01The testivity, manipulation, and evangelizing.
50:07This is what's happening.
50:09They're their sentimentality.
50:11Right?
50:12They are very intrusive.
50:14Right?
50:14And they want to come over as a heck of a guy, a loving home.
50:18That is just a mask.
50:19Right?
50:20And they are super optimism.
50:23They will be able to do anything and get doing it.
50:25They will be able to be vulnerable.
50:28Intimitable.
50:29Unfeatable.
50:30But they are not just being through there.
50:33You can get them both.
50:34Because you need to take.
50:35And as or not least.
50:37Right?
50:38Um, these specific criminal acts are affected by emotions such as fear, anger, rebellion,
50:47power control, excitement, pleasure, and greed and weakness.
50:51When they combine these types of motives with a plastic, maladaptive behavior, what they
51:00have, they have a, a career, a group of criminals with a fear conscience.
51:06Right, love is right for them.
51:08I don't know how people get going to this master that thinking.
51:13Right?
51:13Yes, ma'am.
51:14Um, I'm not sure I believe from here, community policing would, um, self-dependent.
51:19But they deal with these people.
51:21They need to focus on suppression.
51:25With a militaristic approach.
51:27Right?
51:27I know, um, the criminals don't like it.
51:30But we've got to maintain it.
51:32We've got to suppress it.
51:34And we've got to sanitize it.
51:35Because we've got to manage that criminal thinking pattern.
51:39Isn't easy.
51:40Right?
51:41And I listen, I call it something other day.
51:44Right?
51:44They try to develop and they search it.
51:47And develop solutions.
51:50And so, that's, they need to be clear, give the flat line of breath,
51:54but not give it with criminal thinking patterns.
51:57Right?
51:58That happen to my youth.
52:00Right?
52:01Of accumulation of, um, an accumulation of that kind of thing to be clear,
52:07turn it to be smarter.
52:08Right?
52:10Digest, doing stuff.
52:11The other go on.
52:12And when you have arrested,
52:14they go to have the cognitive behavioral therapy.
52:16Any new program.
52:17So you construct the thinking.
52:20Right?
52:21With what I call therapy.
52:23Not just art and music.
52:24You don't think that.
52:25What you call regime, good regime.
52:29What you must deal with.
52:31You control the mind.
52:33Cognitive thinking.
52:35Cognitive instruction.
52:36That is the only way you're gonna make a gesture.
52:38It will not be level of.
52:39Lead to the business or new funding.
52:42And you must have a proper new entry program.
52:45I take three years.
52:46Project offender.
52:47It goes to do kind of therapy.
52:50With care, support, supervision and supervision.
52:52Right?
52:53To reduce the level of your funding.
52:55There is a complete approach of crime reduction.
52:59You don't say crime reduction.
53:01Not crime prevention.
53:02You try to reduce crime by introducing.
53:06Right?
53:07Well, I like to put the strategic measures.
53:09And teaching and virtues and culture.
53:12From an in use.
53:13Between one.
53:15Right?
53:16To the second phase.
53:18All right.
53:18Yes, my case.
53:19I know I went on.
53:20But I just had to share this with you on the next phase.
53:23You people have a terrible battle.
53:27Right?
53:27And you must have the right kind of individual child.
53:29I was my case.
53:56All right.
53:57They're only replicating what they are seeing home from their parents and within their communities.
54:01Correct.
54:02You know?
54:02And I like how the caller spoke when he talked about the attitudes of the young one.
54:08Because many of our parents think being a successful parent is giving your child everything they want when they act.
54:13That's right.
54:13That's right.
54:14That's not.
54:14We have to teach and encourage children to work for what they want.
54:18You reward good behavior and performance of good work and excellent grades.
54:23You don't just give them everything they want for mediocrity.
54:26Correct.
54:26Performance and bad behavior.
54:28Yes, there's your one child, there's your one son, your one daughter.
54:31And we understand that.
54:32But you have to create that culture and concept of work.
54:36Honestly, hard work brings great reward.
54:40And caller, what you spoke about calls a multi-prong approach for all hands on deck are needed.
54:44All the stakeholders have to come together.
54:47We started with the homes.
54:48We go into the schools.
54:50We have any prison reform.
54:52Yes.
54:52And it's a whole amalgamation of authorities and agencies and stakeholders.
54:58And it's only then.
54:59And even if, after somebody commits a crime, we see we have the parole system that we now have.
55:04We now have to find a way to entice organizations.
55:08To employ.
55:09To employ.
55:10That's unbelievable.
55:11So that we can reduce that recidivism.
55:13Yes.
55:14So the caller is hitting a few things on the head and caller, well done.
55:17Yeah.
55:17Because, you know, once you serve your time, I mean, you give back to society already.
55:21There's a, you know, the citizens allowing you to be embraced and not labeled.
55:28Yeah.
55:28So we continue without a belief.
55:30We have another caller on the line.
55:32All right.
55:32But we get ready for point.
55:34We don't have a caller on the line.
55:35I know point is on already.
55:36Hmm.
55:37And yesterday you spoke about.
55:38I heard you all up there.
55:39Yes, we are.
55:40We are there.
55:40I heard the presence.
55:42It's heavy.
55:43Yes.
55:43I got word yesterday that it is intense.
55:46Yes.
55:47And what is nice is that we have many officers, some defense section, branches, division,
55:55and amalgamation of our protective services with our friends in the defense force, our
56:00friends, some of the traffic wardens, our friends, some licensing authority going down
56:05there and already down there doing what they have to do, playing closed sections who are
56:09not even accustomed being into that type of policing.
56:12They are all there as well.
56:13So the commissioner is doing an excellent job and his executive.
56:18Yes.
56:18I want to thank the gold commander, Mr. Remy, as well as acting assistant superintendent
56:24Forbes for their contribution and their operational plan, which they shared through the media
56:29in our press briefing this week.
56:32Yeah.
56:32Go down there.
56:33You would see the visibility.
56:34Remember, we are wrecking.
56:36Do not park in areas that you are not authorized to park.
56:39Yes.
56:39It would have been gazetted.
56:41Remember, the legal notice, 26 and 27 of 2025, as it speaks to the prohibition of glass
56:46bottles.
56:48So go down there and have clean, fun.
56:51You never know.
56:52The presence is felt there.
56:53Based on how we can, I may, as well as I may not.
56:57Yeah.
56:57Well, I mean, wherever it may lead you, I am just happy to hear that the police presence
57:03is felt there.
57:04And just to mention, thus far with the events leading up, before we get ready for, of course,
57:08the big day on the road.
57:10Yeah.
57:10So far, fingers crossed, no incidents, no major incidents taking place.
57:15Persons feel safe.
57:16They are having a good time.
57:18Mm-hmm.
57:18And we want to continue that.
57:19We want to keep it that way.
57:20And it just shows that as a people, when we make the decision to behave ourselves and
57:25to behave responsibly, we can do so.
57:29Yes.
57:29So why can't we do it every day?
57:32No.
57:33I know something that is happening next week that you wanted to mention to the public,
57:38but with the sports day.
57:41Oh, yes.
57:42We have so many things going on.
57:44We have fully sports next week, Saturday.
57:47So many acts.
57:49Where just a few of our members will be there to participate in different activities, sporting
57:54activities.
57:55Are you marching?
57:56We welcome the support from the public.
57:59No, Miss Husbands.
58:00I am not marching.
58:02What race are you taking, Patti?
58:03I am going down there for my good looks.
58:07But, you know, and I want to say that a few things.
58:10The caller who called, I thank the caller for calling and speaking about the good service
58:14he got today.
58:15Yes.
58:16With respect to the article he read yesterday, I reached out to the Baratari.
58:20Actually, Reiser was on air, the superintendent in charge of the Northeastern Division.
58:25He sent me certain things and a report was indeed taken.
58:28The attorney was booked coming in with a client and it was remedied.
58:34The officer actually showed where he made an attempt to call and was unsuccessful.
58:40He took just a screenshot of the phone itself because we understand.
58:43We appreciate that you gave us that update.
58:45Yes.
58:45Thank you so much.
58:46Have a safe weekend.
58:47And, of course, those of you also have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
58:50If you head into point, just make sure and be safe.
58:52Have fun.
58:53News up next.
58:54God bless.
