00:00Yes, the rumours are true. Things are set to heat up again as we go through this weekend and into
00:06next week with a lot of dry weather still to come in the south.
00:09We can see in the earlier satellite imagery there hasn't been a huge amount of cloud across southern parts so
00:15far today.
00:15A different story further north, a swathe of cloud here, and we've had some rain across the northern and western
00:21parts of Scotland already today.
00:23That's because we have some fronts here. These are further away from that high pressure, which is going to continue
00:28to dominate across southern parts through into this weekend.
00:32More rain to come into the afternoon across particularly northern, western, also central parts of Scotland could be a bit
00:38heavy at times.
00:38There'll be some blustery winds, gusts of 30, 40 miles per hour perhaps in some exposed coastal areas.
00:44In the east of Scotland, staying drier with some bright sunny weather.
00:48Cloudier for southern Scotland, a few outbreaks of rain here, but for Northern Ireland, the bulk of England and Wales
00:53is staying dry.
00:55There'll be a decent amount of bright, largely sunny weather to be had really.
00:58And with a slight shift in our wind direction as that high pressure is pushing its way in,
01:03while temperatures today are going to be a little bit higher than on Thursday for a fair few places, especially
01:09in the south.
01:09We're looking at highs of around 25, possibly 26 Celsius towards the southeast.
01:14And further north, yes, it will be a fair few degrees lower than this and feeling fresher, where we have
01:19the cloud, the rain and those blustery winds.
01:22More rain to come through the evening and overnight across northern, western, central parts of Scotland.
01:27Elsewhere, a lot of dry weather. There'll be a lot of clear skies.
01:31A few pockets of mist and fog should be quite shallow, so shouldn't cause many problems.
01:36And then later in the night, some cloud feeding into parts of Northern Ireland, and this is likely to bring
01:40some rain as well.
01:41Well, we are set to have another relatively fresh night, perhaps not quite as fresh as last night.
01:48We got down as low as 3 Celsius.
01:50But nonetheless, some prone rural spots in England and Wales could get to mid-single figures.
01:56Perhaps most towns and cities holding up in double digits, but a bit of a fresh start for many, first
02:02thing on Saturday.
02:03But a bright one for most of England and Wales in particular.
02:06Cloudier for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:08There will be some rain coming through, and that will continue through the day.
02:12Heaviest rain will be across northern and western parts of Scotland, and here it will still be quite blustery.
02:18But compared to today, there's a bit more rain pushing across eastern and southern parts of Scotland, and also for
02:23Northern Ireland.
02:24The bulk of England and Wales, though, again having a fine day, lots of sunshine, and temperatures set to be
02:29even higher than today.
02:31A good chance that we'll get back into the high 20s, so it's likely to be the first day of
02:35another heatwave for some places.
02:38Meanwhile, towards the North Scotland and Northern Ireland, while temperatures peg back in the high teens or low 20s.
02:43Much closer to average here.
02:45That rain shifts its way southwards through Saturday night into Sunday, so we sort of end up with three zones
02:50of weather on Sunday.
02:52A lot of rain for Northern Ireland, central, southern parts of Scotland, and parts of Northern England.
02:57The rain will be a bit persistent, really, through much of the day.
03:00But Northern Scotland, perhaps having a drier day than of late.
03:04Some showery rain, yes, but there will also be some drier, perhaps even brighter weather breaking through.
03:10And then across the rest of England and Wales, it's again looking largely dry, largely sunny, and temperatures are set
03:16to rise even higher.
03:18We're likely to see temperatures back in the low 30s across some places here.
03:22So, yes, the heat really is building as we go through this weekend.
03:27Now, I mentioned that it's staying largely dry, and the heat is set to continue into next week.
03:32Monday, Tuesday, maybe ever so slightly fresher than Sunday, before some higher temperatures, perhaps by the middle of the week.
