Bengaluru Rural: In a disturbing development, the skeletal remains of a 35-year-old woman were discovered in Hale Nijgal village in Nelamangala taluk, raising strong suspicions of murder.

The deceased has been identified as Yamuna, a native of Tumakuru, who had been missing for several days. Police recovered her skull along with bones of the hands and legs near an areca nut plantation. A bag and an ID card found at the spot helped confirm her identity.

According to police, Yamuna was married to Mallikarjun around 19 years ago and had two children. However, she had reportedly separated from her husband eight years ago after entering into a relationship with a man identified as Raghavendra. She lived with him in Doddaballapura for nearly five years before returning to her husband’s house two years ago.

On March 21, which was her birthday, Yamuna allegedly went to meet Raghavendra after he insisted on meeting her. She went missing the same day, following which a missing complaint was registered at Kyathasandra Police Station in Tumakuru.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Yamuna may have been murdered, and her body was dumped near the plantation in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Family members, who were alerted by the police, identified the remains at the scene.

Dabaspet police visited the spot and conducted a detailed inspection. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to trace the accused and establish the exact sequence of events.
