A concrete-laden truck overturned onto a BMW car at Keesara Toll Plaza in Kanchikacharla mandal on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway, completely flattening the luxury vehicle and killing a senior lawyer.

The BMW bearing registration number TS 09 FT 6662 was heading towards Hyderabad when the accident occurred between 4:15 pm and 4:20 pm. A concrete mixer tanker reportedly lost control near the toll plaza and toppled onto the car.

The victim has been identified as B. Srinivas Rao, a prominent High Court advocate. He had earlier participated in the Bar Council elections in Amaravati and was returning at the time of the incident.

According to Vijayawada Police Commissioner SV Raja Sekhara Babu, the body was retrieved with the help of JCBs and sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities are currently examining CCTV footage to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, including the possibility of overloading or driver negligence.

Disturbing visuals from the scene show the tanker lying sideways on top of the red BMW, crushing it completely.

Preliminary reports suggest that the tanker, carrying ready-mix concrete, lost control while taking a turn, possibly due to brake failure. The BMW was crossing the toll gate when the heavy vehicle overturned, flattening it almost instantly.

Police and toll plaza staff launched a rescue operation immediately, deploying cranes and earthmovers to lift the tanker.

The incident also led to partial disruption of traffic on the highway.
