00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has denied that Malaysia plans to sell oil to Australia,
00:06saying talks with his counterpart focus more on strategic needs between the two countries.
00:11Anwar said his meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese yesterday touched on reciprocal needs,
00:18including Malaysia's demand for phosphate from Australia,
00:22while Australia is seeking certain commodities from Malaysia, such as urea.
00:26He dismissed claims by certain quarters that the government intended to sell oil, saying this was not the case.
00:34Anwar said Australia had also requested diesel, but Malaysia is unable to meet the demand for now,
00:40as priority must be given to domestic needs.
00:43However, he said he would consider it if there was a surplus.
00:47Albanese, who left for Australia last night, was on a two-day official visit to Malaysia,
00:52following stops in Singapore and Brunei, as part of efforts to strengthen energy security ties
00:58amid disruptions caused by the Middle East conflict.
