High drama unfolded at Naubasta Police Station after BJP women workers staged a protest inside the premises, accusing police of failing to register an FIR in a woman harassment case.

According to reports, the woman worker's reached the police station and confronted officials, alleging negligence and deliberate delay by the sub-inspector in acting on the complaint. In a symbolic protest, they showed bangles to the Station House Officer, accusing the police of “inaction” and “cowardice.”

The situation escalated as the protesters raised slogans against the police administration, staged a sit-in (dharna), and even recited the Hanuman Chalisa inside the station, creating a tense atmosphere.

The protesters demanded immediate registration of the FIR and strict action against the concerned sub-inspector for alleged negligence in handling the case.

Police Response

Police officials clarified that as per court directions, the matter had been forwarded to the court instead of directly registering an FIR, and further legal process was underway.

However, taking cognisance of the allegations, senior authorities have now directed that an FIR be registered in the case.

Additionally, an inquiry has been initiated at the level of the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) regarding allegations that the victim was not provided adequate protection. Authorities said further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Deependra Nath Choudhary confirmed that appropriate steps are being taken in the matter.

The incident has sparked debate over police accountability and handling of women harassment complaints.
