Joke Turns Fatal? Young Model Found Dead After Family Tiff in Lucknow

A aspiring model, Tanu Singh (28), was found dead at her residence in Indiranagar, Lucknow, on Wednesday evening, in an apparent s**cide case.

Tanu, a resident of Lakdar Mandi in Saadatganj, had married Rahul Srivastava, an auto driver from Takrohi, four years ago in a love marriage. On Wednesday afternoon, Tanu was at home with her husband, sister-in-law Anjali, and their young son. During light-hearted banter, Rahul and Anjali allegedly made a remark mocking Tanu, which reportedly hurt her.

Upset, Tanu went into another room and locked the door from inside. About an hour later, when the family called her for dinner and received no response, Anjali looked through a window and found Tanu hanging from a ceiling fan using a dupatta.

She was immediately taken to Lohia Hospital with the help of locals, where doctors declared her brought dead. Police reached the spot, conducted a postmortem, and handed over the body to the family.

Police officials said preliminary findings point to a domestic dispute arising from a joke. No written complaint has been filed so far. Further investigation is underway.
