00:00After 49 years, there's a lot of, of course, mistrust between Iran and the United States of America.
00:05You're not going to solve that problem overnight.
00:08And I understand people get frustrated at it. I get frustrated at it.
00:11But it's a lot better than it was 10 years ago.
00:13And frankly, 10 years ago, it was a lot better than it was 10 years before that.
00:17But here's where we are on, fundamentally, the president set a policy.
00:22Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
00:24And right now, we are negotiating to make sure that very thing happens.
00:27And here's what's interesting about this is that we have this ceasefire that's in place.
00:39I think it's six or seven days old. Right now, the ceasefire is holding.
00:42And what you're seeing is the president wants to make, he doesn't want to make like a small deal.
00:49He wants to make the grand bargain.
00:51And what he's basically offering to Iran is very simple.
00:54And frankly, it's something that no president has, I think, has had the ability to offer.
00:59He said that if you're willing to act like a normal country, we are willing to treat you economically like
01:05a normal country.
01:06He doesn't want a small deal.
01:08And that's, that's, that's one of the reasons why, one, I'd say in Pakistan, we made a ton of progress.
01:13But the reason why the deal is not yet done is because the president, he really wants a deal where
01:19Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapon.
01:21Iran is not state sponsoring terrorism, but also the people of Iran can thrive and prosper, prosper and join the
01:28world economy.
01:28And that's, that's the trade that he's offering.
01:31He's saying, if you guys, he said, if you guys commit to not having a nuclear weapon, we are going
01:41to make Iran thrive.
01:42We're going to make it economically prosperous.
01:44And we're going to invite the Iranian people into the world economy in a way they haven't been in my
01:49entire life.
01:50And that's the kind of Trumpian grand bargain that the president has put on the table.
01:54Man, we're going to keep on negotiating and try to make it happen because it would be great for the
01:58world.
01:59It'd be great for our country.
02:00It'd be great for everybody.
02:02So I'm going to keep on fighting to make it happen.
02:03Yeah, I mean, look, you never know.
02:05We had never, the United States had never had meetings at that level with the Iranian government in 49 years.
02:14Like it's, it's a meeting that had never before happened, not Democrat, not Republican.
02:18We had never had a meeting like that where you have, you know, the person who's effectively running the country
02:23in Iran sitting across from the vice president of the United States.
02:26That, that had never happened.
02:27And, and what I, my, my, look, honestly, after 49 years, there's a lot of, of course, mistrust between Iran
02:35and the United States of America.
02:36You're not going to solve that problem overnight.
02:38But yeah, I think the people we're sitting across from wanted to make a deal.
02:42And I know the president of the United States told us to go out there and, and negotiating good faith.
02:47That's what we did.
02:48That's what we're going to keep on doing.
02:50So you never know though.
02:52Yeah.
02:52Right.
02:53Right.
