00:00Good afternoon. Heavy rainfall pushes into parts of northwestern Scotland throughout this evening
00:05and later on this afternoon. Elsewhere though, it should be quite a warm and sunny afternoon.
00:09We've got a large area of high pressure down to the southwest of the UK. You can see that
00:14on the satellite picture from this morning. Very little in the way of cloud around this high
00:18pressure. That's thanks to the sinking air that the high pressure brings. So there will be plenty
00:23more sunshine to come across southern areas, but these frontal systems that bring with them
00:27more cloud will continue to feed into more northwestern areas throughout the rest of
00:32today. They're sort of waving frontal features, so that does bring some uncertainty with the rainfall.
00:38But after a relatively dry start to the day, rain will become more persistent for parts of Northern
00:43Ireland and western Scotland through this afternoon and then heavier through this evening. Elsewhere,
00:48plenty of dry and fine weather. A little bit of cloud around across more northern areas, making
00:53the sunshine a little bit hazier. Quite light winds across more southern areas. It will turn
00:58windier though across the northwest through this evening. So the best of the sunshine across more
01:03southern and eastern areas. It's going to feel quite warm. Temperatures reaching 27 degrees
01:08across the southeast, quite widely in the low to mid-20s for southern and central areas. And across
01:15northeastern areas of England as well, we could see the low 20s. Further north and west though,
01:19in the high teens, closer to average. And as I said, it's going to be quite a damp afternoon and
01:24evening for the northwest. We could see 10 to 20 millimeters of rainfall building up over the next
01:2924 hours or so, particularly across northwestern highlands. Although it has been quite wet here
01:36through the past few weeks, there is quite a lot of resilience. So we're not expecting any impacts from
01:40this persistent rainfall. But it is much wetter across the northwest than elsewhere across the country.
01:46Thanks to these weather frontal systems and the southwesterly winds, there will be a bit more
01:50cloud around across parts of Wales and the southwest of England over the high ground and coastal areas
01:55in particular. It's a bit of a murkier start to the day as possible across these areas. Across the
02:00Pennines as well, you could see some drizzly rain and low cloud. Relatively mild start to the weekend
02:05though. Temperatures around 14 to 17 degrees Celsius in any towns and cities. So a mild start,
02:13plenty of sunshine on the cards for southern and eastern areas of England in particular. The
02:17sunshine will just be a bit hazier further south and west. Some rain spilling into parts of northern
02:23England, particularly over the high ground. Northern Ireland seeing a bit of a drier day,
02:27particularly across more eastern areas of Northern Ireland. And eastern areas of Scotland as well
02:31should escape much of the rain. But it is going to remain quite cloudy and overcast across western
02:36areas of Scotland in particular. Quite a gusty day as well. If you're heading out into the mountains
02:41and hills across parts of Scotland, it's not going to just be wet. It will be quite windy too,
02:46particularly over high ground. So another quite fresh day. Temperatures 15 or 16 degrees up here
02:52in the northwest. Further south though, a very warm day. Temperatures reaching 27 or 28 degrees.
02:58So a big difference north to south or northwest to southeast in particular. That difference does
03:04continue through Sunday. But this area of high pressure budges up a little bit further north to
03:09restrict the rainfall just to the very far northwest of Scotland throughout the start of next week.
03:15And then temperatures are going to continue to rise into the low 30s across the south by early
03:21next week. But we will be keeping you updated all through the weekend on our YouTube channel.
03:25So don't forget to subscribe. Bye-bye.
