17 June - National afternoon forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Hello, good afternoon. Some sunny spells for most of us today. It will feel quite humid and muggy in any
00:06sunshine though, particularly across southern areas.
00:09And there's some further wet weather to push into the northwest. Through much of this week we've had this waving
00:14front, a feature of our weather.
00:17And it's going to continue to bring further pulses of rain throughout the rest of this week and a big
00:21divide between north and south with much wetter weather affecting more northern areas.
00:27Now there will be a showery afternoon for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. A few showers also moving into
00:32central and southwestern areas of England.
00:34Some of these are a little heavy in nature, but for many of us it should be a pretty dry
00:39afternoon with sunny spells.
00:40As I said, it will feel quite humid in the south in particular. Temperatures quite widely in the low 20s,
00:46approaching 25 degrees in the south and east of England.
00:50Now it's going to be a muggy night as well, particularly across southern areas. Further north and west though, it
00:55turns quite wet this evening.
00:57Particularly across northern Ireland and into parts of Scotland as this area of rain moves up from the southwest by
01:03Thursday morning.
01:04Elsewhere it should be a relatively dry night, but there's going to be quite a lot of cloud around.
01:08Some mist and fog around too by tomorrow morning, particularly across the south coast.
01:13That could be thick enough to bring some drizzly outbreaks of rain, but away from the far north and west
01:19it should be a dry night.
01:20But a mild one. Temperatures holding up in the high teens across the southeast of England, in the mid-teens
01:27elsewhere across England and Wales.
01:29A little bit fresher further north, but it's still going to be quite mild even across the far north of
01:34Scotland to start the day on Thursday.
01:36So a bright start across northeastern areas, but the wet weather does push into quite widely across more northern areas
01:43throughout Thursday morning.
01:44To bring a wet period, particularly if you're travelling on the roads.
01:49Further south it should be a dry day, plenty of sunshine and again another warm one.
01:53Particularly in the south and east temperatures approaching 30 degrees.
01:57Highs of 29 degrees are expected on Thursday.
02:00It's likely to be warmer than that as we head into Friday.
02:04Notice though there is a risk of some showers across the far south coast.
02:07These could bring a risk of thunderstorms, also a risk of thundery downpours, moves into parts of Wales, northwest England
02:14as well later on in the day.
02:16So all quite hot and humid, particularly across southern and eastern areas of the UK.
02:21And that theme continues into Friday as well.
02:24But remember there's a risk of some quite heavy rain across the north on Thursday morning.
