00:07Oh my god!
00:08There is a very big ship in front of us.
00:12Holy hell, yeah.
00:14This is so cool!
00:18It's pretty impressive. It's really like its own mini city.
00:22They have like 10 restaurants, everything you could ever want.
00:25Honestly, if I go on a cruise, I'm taking theirs.
00:30Yes!
00:33Good morning, designers.
00:35Good morning.
00:36And welcome aboard Celebrity Cruises' magnificent cruise ship, the Celebrity Summit.
00:41And I am delighted to introduce you to the president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises, Lisa Lutoff-Perlow.
00:47Hello, hello, designers. Hello.
00:50Welcome on board Celebrity.
00:52Designer Celebrity Cruises is known as the epitome of modern luxury vacation experiences
00:58and travels to every destination you can imagine around the globe.
01:02That's right, Tim.
01:03Seven continents.
01:05Incredible places from rugged Alaska to exotic Thailand.
01:09So designers, let's get to the challenge.
01:12You will notice that we have seven suitcases, each of which has a different exotic location on it.
01:18There are seven suitcases.
01:19There are 14 of you.
01:23So this is your first team challenge.
01:27You are going to be working in teams of two.
01:31Each team will be creating one high-end day-to-night look.
01:36This look will transition from the exotic destination that the travelers are experiencing during the day
01:43to coming back on board ship and experiencing fine dining and entertainment.
01:49Now, let's pick your teams.
01:51The first designer is Amanda.
01:54And Amanda will be working with...
01:57Gabrielle.
01:59All right. We got this, girl.
02:01Gabby is a little bit like me in the sense that she knows what she wants to do, which I'm
02:05thinking,
02:06okay, this is either going to be really awesome or a total nightmare.
02:11Amanda and Gabrielle, you get to choose a suitcase.
02:15The destination on that suitcase will serve as the inspiration for your look.
02:19Either Greek Isles or South of France.
02:21I think so.
02:22We picked South of France.
02:24Okay.
02:24Woo!
02:26Our next designer is...
02:29Ashley.
02:30And Ashley, you will be working with...
02:33Candace.
02:34Yay!
02:36A sigh of relief.
02:38Like, thank God.
02:39Ashley's aesthetic and my aesthetic, I think, could blend well.
02:42Choose a suitcase.
02:43Let's do Venice.
02:44Okay.
02:44What is it?
02:45Venice.
02:45Venice.
02:46And our next designer is...
02:51Lindsey.
02:52Lindsey, you will be working with...
02:54Jake.
02:55Okay.
02:56So, Lindsey and Jake.
02:57A suitcase with a destination.
03:00Where do you want to go?
03:00Ladies choice.
03:01Let's go to Hong Kong.
03:02Oh, great.
03:03Hong Kong.
03:04I'm actually excited.
03:05I've been to Hong Kong a few different times.
03:07It's where I actually trained.
03:09Hopefully, it gives us maybe a leg up.
03:11At least, that's what I'm thinking.
03:12Our next designer is...
03:14Lori.
03:15And, Lori, you will be working with...
03:18Swapnil.
03:18Woo!
03:20There you go.
03:21You knew?
03:22Yeah.
03:22What are you choosing?
03:23Isn't it obvious?
03:24Don't do it.
03:25India.
03:26Are you?
03:26Yep.
03:27All right.
03:28It means the expectations will be even higher.
03:32I'm not one of those designers who's going to run away from a strong challenge.
03:36I say bring it on.
03:37Our next designer is...
03:39Kelly.
03:39Woo!
03:40And, Kelly, you will be working with...
03:43I'm just hoping I'm not going to get paired with Edmund.
03:46Nothing personal, but he has immunity, so I know that I'm the one in trouble and not
03:50him.
03:50Kelly.
03:51Kelly, you will be working with...
03:53Yay!
03:54Oh!
03:55Where do you want to go?
03:57At this point, the people left are myself, Edmund, Hanmeow, and Marlene, and I'm praying,
04:03please, God, do not give me Marlene.
04:05Our next designer is Edmund.
04:07Edmund.
04:08And Edmund will be working with...
04:13Hanmeow.
04:14Woo!
04:16The caravan.
04:18Oh!
04:19So, Marlene and Joe, it's evidence that you're paired together and your inspiration is St.
04:25Petersburg.
04:25Joseph, oui.
04:27He's really good at construction, so I'm, like, super pumped up.
04:31All right, designers, you have your teams.
04:33Inside each suitcase, you will find fabric that corresponds to the spirit of your destination.
04:39And back in the work room, we have additional fabrics for you.
04:43All right?
04:44Lisa and I are sending you off to sketch your design ideas.
04:47And we hope you're hungry, because we have some nice treats for you for lunch as you sketch.
04:53All right, one other important point.
04:56You have one day for this challenge.
05:00Okay.
05:00All right?
05:01So, head off and sketch.
05:03Good luck, designers.
05:06Aren't you excited?
05:07I am, yes.
05:08It's about to get real.
05:09Marlene's already starting to drive me crazy.
05:12Oh, boy.
05:22I feel like this would be more of, like, a coat or a jacket.
05:25Oh, my God.
05:26I'm thinking the same thing.
05:28Yes.
05:28Oh, this is so pretty.
05:30Oh, yes.
05:32Hi.
05:34Now, this is inspiration right here.
05:37Look at the stripe.
05:38Oh, my gosh.
05:39This is freaking fabulous.
05:42Okay.
05:43And then we need to sketch something else.
05:44Yes.
05:45So, I'm thinking maybe we should combine our aesthetics to do one piece.
05:50Okay.
05:50You know?
05:51Yeah.
05:51All right, cool.
05:52Our style is so different.
05:54I'm more focused on, like, a structure, like, you know, sharp edge, kind of oversized,
05:59you know, women's wear.
06:01And Adamant, he focused on something very feminine.
06:04Pretty something drape.
06:06So, how about the ways sketch separate and then...
06:10That works.
06:10Let's go.
06:10Let's go.
06:11Let's go.
06:12Mmm.
06:14We got a lot of the green and gold.
06:16I don't mind this.
06:17We could always do, like, a kimono-esque jacket, you know?
06:21They're just not a kimono culture.
06:23Kimonos are more Japanese than Hong Kong.
06:25I know.
06:25It just gives that nod.
06:28So, I was thinking more like a drapey.
06:31So, this comes from the sari.
06:33I like that.
06:34As we see the fabric, me and Lori actually set these things together.
06:38Pants, crop top, jacket.
06:39So, we are trying to recreate a sari into a more modern way.
06:43I mean, what worries me most is whether it'll be to India.
06:46That's not what we want here.
06:48Designers, time is up.
06:49Assemble all of your things and come with me.
06:54We good?
06:54Yes.
06:55Okay.
07:02Here we are, girlfriend.
07:09All right, designers.
07:10You have the inspiration for your challenge.
07:13You know that you're creating a look that will transition from day to night.
07:17You have all the solids in our mini mood.
07:20You have eight hours for this challenge.
07:25Stop.
07:27There are two of you.
07:29As far as I'm concerned, that's 16 hours.
07:32All right.
07:32I will see you later.
07:33Have fun.
07:35Thank you, Tim.
07:40Go ahead, darling.
07:43If you want, you could do a T-length dress out of that.
07:47The question is, do we really have enough fabric?
07:49Even just in brainstorming, I said, hey, maybe we'll do something kimono-esque.
07:55Maybe we could do a smoking jacket.
07:57Maybe we could do this.
07:58I feel like Jake is combating the ideas that I have without bringing any other ideas to the table.
08:05Sneak by it, darling.
08:07And by calling me things like sweetheart, Jake seems to be half-pacifying me and half-demeaning me.
08:18Makes you want to puke.
08:21Okay, now what are you thinking?
08:23Think out loud.
08:24We're together on this.
08:25Mm-hmm.
08:25So, as you're thinking, even if it's right or wrong, just talk to me.
08:41What are you thinking?
08:42We're working together, so you need to talk out loud.
08:44Yeah, let me think what we should do.
08:47You're going back and forth.
08:48I don't want to argue with.
08:50No more.
08:50Make it work.
08:50Okay, do the top, I'll do the bottom, and then we'll kind of like check on each other in a
08:53second.
08:54All right.
08:54I need a cigarette.
08:56I need a cigarette, too.
09:02For this challenge, we got to go on a celebrity cruise ship, and it's pretty fabulous.
09:09So now, we are creating a look based on different destinations that celebrity cruises.
09:15The outfit also has to transition from day to night and be a high fashion look.
09:21This length is good for the crop crop, right?
09:23Mm-hmm.
09:24And then just the top.
09:25Yeah.
09:25When it comes to personal style, I love Tracy Ellis Ross, okay?
09:31I used to watch Girlfriends.
09:32I didn't care about the storyline.
09:34I just wanted to see what she was wearing.
09:36How are you doing with that cape so far?
09:38Uh, the neck is kind of like making me nervous.
09:41With this challenge, I feel that I'm steering the ship.
09:44I'm the captain.
09:45I'm working on creating this dress, and she's working on the draping of the cape.
09:50The biggest challenge working with Marlene is trying to keep her focused.
09:56Hi.
09:56Hi, Tim.
09:57How are the design teams?
09:59Amazing.
10:00Hi, Tim.
10:01How's our Venetian team, and how are you working together?
10:04Amazing.
10:05Really good, yeah.
10:06Good.
10:06So what are you doing?
10:07This is the fabric that we got in our suitcase, and we want to use all three.
10:12Yeah.
10:12It's nice.
10:13So it's going to be a fitted shirt in the front.
10:15Okay.
10:16Draped cow neck in the back.
10:18And then with the pants, I wanted to do a box pleat.
10:21Well, we know you can do a box pleat.
10:23Yeah.
10:23And we're going to have a third piece.
10:25Okay.
10:25We wanted to do that as a cape.
10:27So it's a capelet.
10:28It's a capelet.
10:30So how is team Caribbean?
10:32It was a rocky start.
10:34Yeah.
10:34What was going on?
10:34Uh.
10:35Our style, mine is more, like, non-feminine.
10:38And he's so, like, feminine, you know, shoulder body.
10:41Well, it's a collaboration.
10:42Yeah.
10:42So the top part is still have my style.
10:45And what's the skirt?
10:46The skirt is actually this material.
10:48It's breathable fabric.
10:49It has a flow.
10:50All right.
10:50How is this day to evening?
10:52Why wouldn't you either have her come out in what's basically a little sun outfit?
10:56Well, that was my first thought, doing a swimsuit.
10:58Well, can I tell you, I'm in support of that.
11:01I mean, for me, the solution to this, you've already presented, and it should just be done.
11:08His aesthetic is very the classic look.
11:10And mine is very architecture.
11:11And so we're kind of merging those two together.
11:13So we're making a dress, and we're making a cape.
11:15Okay.
11:16Inspired by St. Petersburg.
11:17So it's definitely opulence, garishness.
11:20Let's keep it to opulence, and we'll move.
11:22I can keep going.
11:23Yeah.
11:23It's all being executed in this fabric.
11:25Yeah.
11:25I have great respect for you as designers.
11:27Okay.
11:28Okay.
11:29I think this is really going down the mumsy matronly route.
11:38I think this is really going down the mumsy matronly route.
11:42Got it.
11:42Okay.
11:43So we're going to rethink the bottom, and we're going to rethink the piece that's going to
11:46go over her.
11:47Okay.
11:48Can I also say, you were uncharacteristically quiet.
11:51He put me on lockdown.
11:52Oh, she's on lockdown.
11:53Yeah.
11:54All right, guys.
11:56Thanks, Tim.
11:57Back to the drawing board.
11:58Sex it up.
11:59Not necessarily.
12:00This is your territory, Swap Mill.
12:02Yeah.
12:02So it's basically an inspiration from the sari.
12:04Uh-huh.
12:05How it's been draped, but more modern.
12:07This fabric has a lot of fluidity.
12:09We're not in love with the paisley haul.
12:11We're not in love with the paisley haul.
12:11So you're in favor, and Lori, you're dubious.
12:15Yes.
12:15What's that?
12:16This is another option that we had.
12:19It's much lighter.
12:20Wow.
12:20Oh my God.
12:22This, you just found the secret sauce.
12:24I guess I did.
12:25I guess I did.
12:26Swap Mill and Lori together are super dangerous.
12:29But me and Blake are going to give everyone a run for their money.
12:32We're thinking of doing like a modern twist of a Greek goddess.
12:35So it's a jumpsuit, so the front will be all white and clean.
12:38And then when she walks, she just has this super wide leg.
12:41Yeah.
12:41It strikes me as being a very appropriate look for the Greek isles for this challenge.
12:45You want it to be sexy, because the south of France is sexy.
12:48Yeah.
12:49The way we're making it a little more evening is in the back.
12:51It's fitted, and then it has a cutout right here.
12:54Excellent.
12:55Yay!
12:55We got the Tim Gunn stamp of approval.
12:58How are you two?
12:59I'm okay.
12:59Good.
13:00That doesn't sound good.
13:01What's going on?
13:02I really like From Hong Kong, the idea of like hard and soft.
13:06Mm-hmm.
13:06I'm with you.
13:06So I kind of wanted to throw in a moderately structured vest.
13:09And considering doing a vest in this, even though it's a lot, it's Hong Kong.
13:13Just a suggestion.
13:14What if the vest here is in the black, but the shawl lapel is in this?
13:21I like you, Jake, but I would sooner die.
13:25Lindsey needs approval.
13:27And clearly, I am not someone that she takes stock in.
13:32Can we high-five?
13:34It's okay for me to be cautious every now and again.
13:36No, you should challenge each other.
13:38Go for it.
13:40Designers, I am very excited about what you're doing.
13:44Yay.
13:45So keep your eye on the clock.
13:47You have until 1230.
13:49Thank you, guys.
13:50Yes.
13:52That was an awesome critique.
13:55Let's get this party started.
14:00Hi.
14:02Hi.
14:03I think you should change the color.
14:05I'm young.
14:06I'm young.
14:06I'm young.
14:07I'm young.
14:07It's so frustrating when minutes, hours, whatever later, and we're still arguing about colors
14:12and fabrics.
14:13I mean, come on.
14:15You got to understand it's one look.
14:17Yeah.
14:17It has to be cohesive.
14:17I know, but he started pushing me to follow his direction, which I don't like.
14:23Can you turn?
14:24I'm tiny, but I still have my opinion.
14:29Oh, my God.
14:30I'm so excited.
14:31They look awesome, Gabi.
14:32How are you?
14:33You know, whatever.
14:36I'm fine.
14:37I'm just unaware that I have to do the work of two and a half people alone.
14:41I'm sorry.
14:43It's fine, you know.
14:44If we win, then I'll win.
14:45Have you ever made a swimsuit before?
14:47No.
14:48Okay.
14:48Let me show you.
14:49Just give me a minute.
14:50This is what I'm speaking on.
14:51You just...
14:52Listen to me.
14:53Don't I listen to you?
14:54Look, you're not even paying attention.
14:56I say, let me finish the pattern first.
14:59No, we don't have time to do that.
15:00I'll tell you what.
15:01Just make the whole thing.
15:01I'll make the dress, and you defend it on the runway.
15:03How about that?
15:08Because I'm in charge for the swimming suit.
15:11It's very hard, because the fabric I'm going to use is non-stretch cutting.
15:15And the time is tick-tock.
15:20Hey, Joe.
15:21Yeah.
15:22I just got to show you something and then cut the lining.
15:24This whole cape process has taken hours and hours and hours to complete.
15:29And I feel my dress is suffering tremendously.
15:33I feel like I'm teaching a class.
15:35It's crazy.
15:37We have three different groups battling it out.
15:40And we're all wondering what the hell is going on in this room.
15:48It's ten minutes before the end of the day.
15:50Jake just now is starting to cut his skirt.
15:53I don't know how we're going to get this thing together.
15:56I'm going to have to be Superwoman tomorrow is pretty much what it comes down to.
16:11I've got to get this done.
16:12I have about a thousand things to do in two hours today.
16:20Good morning, design teams.
16:21You will have an hour to send your models to the Mary Kay Color Design Studio and to the Sally
16:27Beauty Studio.
16:28All right?
16:29Use the Just Fab accessories wall very carefully.
16:34All right?
16:35I'll see you a little later.
16:44This fabric is not easy to work with.
16:47We can't do that pattern.
16:49What are they going to say?
16:50It's old lady clothes.
16:54Hi.
16:55Hi.
16:55How are you?
16:56I've just decided to do color for some odd reason.
17:02How was that?
17:02It's a little tight.
17:03A little tight?
17:04Oh my gosh.
17:05Why does he keep doing that?
17:06No.
17:08You little bitch.
17:11She's south of France.
17:13So we kind of want to accentuate her eyes.
17:15I was thinking almost like a nice bronze smokey eye.
17:18So pretty.
17:20We should keep the eyes bare with the nude lip.
17:23Something neutral.
17:24Maybe like highlight the cheeks.
17:25Like a bronze cheek.
17:26Perfect.
17:28So celebrity cruise.
17:29We're going to Hong Kong.
17:31We should almost do like a stain.
17:33Keep it young.
17:33Keep it youthful.
17:34Keep it fresh.
17:36Do you want to come over in the morning?
17:38Any time.
17:39Make it happen?
17:42That's what happens in the Sally Beauty Studio.
17:45Always make it beautiful.
17:47Is this a day look?
17:48It has to transition.
17:50So we'll just bring these little pieces back.
17:51All this sleek.
17:52Glam this up.
17:53Make sure it's all straight.
17:56Here I'm like streamlined, clean.
17:58And he's more like a little drama.
18:00I would add some volume to this.
18:02And then she comes back here and she's just hanging sleek and straight.
18:05That's perfect.
18:14At this point Hem Niao and I are not even speaking.
18:17I don't know how far along she is with the swimsuit.
18:20I don't know if she's going to be able to complete it.
18:22We don't have time at all.
18:24This is kind of weird.
18:28And the man did another whole swimsuit.
18:30What he's doing?
18:33I feel so disrespected.
18:36I feel disappointed.
18:42You're done.
18:44Designers and models, we're going down to the runway.
18:47Follow me everyone.
18:48Please.
18:50This is horrible.
18:51And I'm trying to figure out how to make it look a little more presentable.
18:56Off we go.
18:58Han Miao, we've got to go.
18:59We've got to go.
19:00We've got to go.
19:02Edmund, Hannah's got to get onto that runway.
19:04All right, we did it.
19:05Finally.
19:13Hello, everybody.
19:14Welcome to the runway.
19:16As you know in fashion, one day you're in and the next day you're out.
19:20There are 14 of you here and after tonight there will be 13.
19:24You went to the beautiful Celebrity Summit cruise ship and were inspired by some of their
19:29luxurious travel destinations.
19:31All right, let's say hello to our judges.
19:33First, we have creative director of Brooks Brothers Women and fashion designer, Zach Posen.
19:39Hi, designers.
19:40Hi.
19:41Creative director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
19:44Hi, everyone.
19:45Hi.
19:45And today's guest judge, star of the hit show, Blackish and the ever fashionable, Tracy Ellis Ross.
19:52Welcome.
19:53Hi.
19:53Thank you so much.
19:54Hi, everybody.
19:55Lori, you look a little emotional.
19:57What's going on?
19:58Tracy Ellis Ross is here.
20:01You just don't understand how much she influences my design aesthetic.
20:06It's so surreal.
20:07I'm like on cloud nine right now.
20:09Tracy, we're so happy to have you.
20:11Now I'm going to cry.
20:15Also, we have Tim Gunn here for the runway show.
20:17But as you know, he is your mentor and he will not be judging your looks.
20:20That said, he will have one Tim Gunn save.
20:24If at some point during the competition he disagrees with the judges, he can bring that designer
20:29back to the competition.
20:31We also have an anonymous runway show, which means we, the judges, do not know which designer
20:36created which look.
20:38All right, let's start the show.
20:49There's movement in the top.
20:50There's a story in the cape.
20:52There's life in the bell bottom.
20:54It just feels like Venice.
20:56You know where this woman is going.
20:59I like it.
21:00I do too.
21:01I'm happy with it.
21:02At the end of the day, it just works out amazing.
21:05And I'm so glad that me and Candace got to collaborate on this look.
21:16The drape is going beautifully.
21:18One hand in the pocket and the hair, the makeup.
21:22I think me and Lori did a really good job.
21:26Cute, guys.
21:28Which part of this look would Tracy wear?
21:30That's all I could think about.
21:32She would wear the pants, she'd wear the top, and she'd wear the sash.
21:36She'd wear everything.
21:45I don't love it.
21:46I don't hate it.
21:47It was Lindsay's look.
21:49And for me, all I can see is the failure in our teamwork.
21:54And that sticks me pretty hard.
21:57She looks really lovely.
21:58But I'm so disappointed with how the past 24 hours have gone.
22:03I don't really feel like I can enjoy it sitting with Jake.
22:12I feel really good.
22:13And I think she looks beautiful.
22:15I think she's a modern interpretation of, you know, my classic style.
22:18And I'm really happy.
22:23This whole challenge is really not being me.
22:25I don't think there's a lot of creativity that came out of me for that garment.
22:29It's not like something I'm going to be proud of.
22:31It's safe.
22:38It could have been an amazing swimsuit.
22:40But once again, the construction, detailing, it just wasn't there.
22:43It looks like, you know, we pretty much rushed and created something
22:47and just pretty much threw it on the runway.
22:50I think it's just too much.
22:52The straps, the floral, the yellow.
22:55It's not my style.
22:56It's good.
22:57Maybe.
23:07I think this look does represent Amanda and I very well.
23:10I think maybe it leans a little bit towards my point of view more so than hers.
23:14But I think we did a good job.
23:17The pants are so well-made.
23:20I was actually very confident about her look.
23:23Obviously, there were slight issues.
23:25And the amount of time we had, there were going to be issues.
23:34It is everything I imagined times 10.
23:37She looks like such a strong, powerful, vacationing, beautiful woman.
23:45I see a big smile on Heidi's face and that just makes me, like, so happy.
23:49All the stress, everything just goes away.
23:59Okay, we have just learned which teams created which looks.
24:06Kelly and Blake, please step forward.
24:11Congratulations.
24:12Your scores have qualified you to move on to the next round.
24:15You can leave the runway.
24:21The rest of you have the highest and the lowest scores.
24:25One of you will be named the winner.
24:28And one or more of you will be out.
24:36Candice, Ashley, Lindsay, Jake, Laurie, Swapnail.
24:44Your teams have the highest scores.
24:47Yes.
24:50Edmund, Han Miao, Amanda, Gabrielle, Marlene, Joseph.
24:57Your teams have the lower scores.
25:01We're going to talk to the teams with the higher scores first.
25:04So the team with the lower scores, you can leave the runway.
25:10Candice, Ashley, tell us about your look, your destination, and who did what?
25:14We decided to choose Venice.
25:16I created the top.
25:17Ashley did the pants.
25:18I did the cape, but she helped me with the ties.
25:22Wow.
25:23It took my breath away.
25:25Oh.
25:26She looks eccentric, but chic always.
25:30Every piece is special.
25:31I can see Venice in here because when I think of stripes, I see the guys in the gondolier.
25:36I love this look.
25:38Mixing patterns takes a lot of courage.
25:42Bellissima.
25:44I thought it was risky, and the risks paid off.
25:47It has a weird 70s kind of print on top, and it really works for me, and you guys rocked
25:53it.
25:53And how did you two work together?
25:55Amazing.
25:56Yeah.
25:56We just clicked really, really well.
25:58There was not one argument.
25:59Fashion is all about collaboration.
26:01If this is the winning look, who would win?
26:04It was such a collaboration.
26:06It's just so hard to pick a winner because we've each pooled our weight, and we each helped each other.
26:11Thank you, Candice.
26:13Thank you, Ashley.
26:15Laurie Swapnilov, please tell us about your look, your destination, and who did what?
26:19Our inspiration was India.
26:22We created a crop top with a high-waisted pant, and then you want to talk about more of the
26:28top, which is what he created.
26:29My whole idea was to get inspired by the saree, wanted to make it modern.
26:33You kept the silhouette of the saree, but in the choice of fabric, there is something very effortless.
26:42I love the drape. I love the little detail on the shoulder. The only problem that I had was the
26:48fit of the pants.
26:49Will you take this top off for me?
26:52Because the crotch of these pants, I don't know about that.
26:57The pant, I'm going to be crazy here, it doesn't bother me.
27:01The drop crotch-y thing does not bother me, maybe because I love a drop crotch.
27:05I like it.
27:07Thank you. Thank you.
27:09Beautiful. You should be very proud.
27:11If this is the winning look, who should win?
27:14Swapnilov.
27:15He executed the top in the piece that's inspired by the saree beautifully.
27:20Who do you think, Swapnil?
27:21For sure.
27:23Swapnil.
27:25You got good timing.
27:26Thank you, Laurie.
27:28Thank you, Swapnil.
27:30Jake, Lindsay, tell us about your look, your destination, and who did what.
27:34We wanted to create, like, a 35-year-old lady who wanted, like, the idea of the fantasy Hong Kong.
27:40I patterned the vest, the skirts, shorts, cut and sewed the vest, the shorts, the top and bottom of the
27:49dress together.
27:49I sewed all the seams as far as, like, the center front and hem.
27:54Jake sewed the halter together and draped the halter.
27:56Jake, do you have anything to add?
27:58If this is a top look, this is definitely Lindsay's look.
28:01I appreciate that.
28:02We are not two people who work well together.
28:05I really took a back seat this time around because I feared that if I didn't, we wouldn't complete a
28:11look.
28:11That we would actually end up fighting and not sending a model down the runway.
28:16There's a lot I like about it and a lot I don't like about it.
28:18The choice of fabrics is very pretty.
28:21I would not have put the split up the front.
28:22I actually would have just made it a dress.
28:24The shorts underneath is a little confusing to me.
28:27But overall, I just think it's pretty.
28:30When it came down the runway, it had movement, it had color, it had print.
28:35You guys got good textiles, so kudos.
28:38I like the mix of the colors, which I don't usually like together.
28:43The vest, which has the pockets, I kind of like.
28:47I like this look.
28:49First, it did make me think of Chinese Christmas.
28:52But because there's so much gold in both of the fabrics, it does work in a strange way.
28:58And it's made really well.
29:01Yes.
29:03Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
29:05Now we're going to talk to the teams with the lower scores.
29:08You can leave the runway.
29:16Han Miao, Edmund, tell us about your look, your destination, and who did what.
29:21Our destination was the Caribbean.
29:22I sketched the bottom portion.
29:24The little detailing here at the last minute was added.
29:28Ham Young created the top and the bikini bottom.
29:31And how did the two of you work together?
29:33Not so well.
29:34We spent a lot of time arguing.
29:36More time than we put in the garment, as you can see.
29:38Yeah.
29:39You are so lucky of immunity.
29:41It's just not flattering.
29:42The taste level is really off for me.
29:45The construction just reminds me of like a gymnastic costume.
29:50It's really quite frightening.
29:51You guys are designers.
29:53You have to be ahead of the game.
29:55You're not creating a trend here.
29:56The fabric is actually beautiful.
29:58I love that print.
29:59Why are you looking at me like that, Nina?
30:01The print is something.
30:02No, I like that print.
30:03I think the fabric is actually really nice.
30:06This is hideous.
30:08When you think Caribbean, why does it have to be a bathing suit?
30:13Why did it have to be something so literal?
30:16Why this yellow, horrific jersey bottom?
30:20It's like a pina colada meets Hawaiian punch.
30:24It's just bad.
30:26What's happening with this bathing suit?
30:28The fit of the bathing suit is extraordinarily off,
30:31and there's a lot going on that is confusing.
30:34That's crazy town.
30:37Thank you, Han Miao.
30:38Thank you, Edmund.
30:40Marlene, Joseph, tell us about your look, your destination,
30:43and who did what?
30:44We had St. Petersburg.
30:47Joe is very classic.
30:49I'm just in love with the architecture and kind of playing with shapes.
30:52I don't know if you wanted to say something else.
30:53When Tim came around, he felt like, and that dreaded M word, matronly.
30:57He didn't want it to look matronly or to look too mature.
31:00However, that is my aesthetic.
31:02That's who I sell to, and that's just who I am as a designer.
31:05So we decided that I would tackle the dress, and she would tackle the cape.
31:08How did the two of you work together?
31:10I think we worked together okay.
31:12It was definitely a lot of time that was spent going back and forth with her
31:15about how to draft the pattern, how to drape it on the form,
31:19which was taking a lot of time, and I ended up putting it together quite hastefully.
31:23I think there's something wonderful that you designed for an older customer.
31:26Sure.
31:27But if this is the direction, I don't think this is taking an older customer anywhere further.
31:33You have this cape that is not really a cape.
31:37It's almost like a silly side bib.
31:39Can we take off the bib, please?
31:43Then there's that asymmetry.
31:45If this is the losing look today, who should go home?
31:50To be brutally honest with you, if one of us is going to go home, it has to be Marlene.
31:53And the reason why it would have to be Marlene is my dress suffered
31:56because I was helping her so much with...
31:59It's the truth.
32:00I'm sorry.
32:01It took her four and a half hours to drape this.
32:03When it came to the skirt portion of the dress, I couldn't do it.
32:07Oh, that's not the story.
32:09Collaboration is at the source of every art form.
32:13I mean, that's truly sometimes how the best stuff emerges.
32:16Thank you, Marlene.
32:17Thank you, Joseph.
32:22Gabrielle, Amanda, tell us about your look, your destination, and who did what?
32:27Our look is from the south of France.
32:28I did the pants, and Amanda did the top, but the design was collaborative.
32:33And the two of you worked together fine?
32:35Yeah, we did.
32:36The bust, having asymmetry, and then having this underpiece that creates actual physical asymmetry is hard for your design.
32:44There's just too much going on.
32:45Like, if you have seven ideas, get rid of half of them.
32:48There are just so many design elements all put into one look.
32:53The high neck, then you see a little skin on the side because it is super short, it is super
32:58long, then there's a bell bottom, and then it doesn't fit right.
33:02We had a side bib, and now we have a side mullet.
33:08Not good.
33:10Thank you, Gabrielle.
33:12Thank you, Amanda.
33:14Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
33:16We're going to take a closer look at your designs, and then I'm going to call you back in a
33:20little bit.
33:20You can leave the runway.
33:28The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 to launch their line.
33:32A celebrity cruises model luxury vacation for two to almost anywhere in the world.
33:37A year's supply of Sally Beauty products, and the opportunity to consult with Sally Beauty to create a limited edition
33:43finger paints nail color collection.
33:45Travel in hotel accommodations to inspiring destinations around the world from Best Western International.
33:51A 2015 Lexus RC 350.
33:55From Mary Kay, an entire year's worth of beauty products for their fashion shows and professional makeup artist services for
34:00their debut show.
34:02A complete sewing and crafting studio from Brothers Sewing and Embroidery.
34:06And the winning designer and model will receive a fashion spread in Mary Claire magazine.
34:10And there you are.
34:11Hi, Heidi, Zach, Nina, Tracy.
34:14Hi.
34:14Hello.
34:15Christina is wearing Ashley and Candice.
34:20It's so fun.
34:21It's totally kooky and it totally works.
34:24It drapes really beautifully.
34:25Do you mind taking off your capelet?
34:27The pocket is beautifully done.
34:29It's very full.
34:31They played on each other's strengths.
34:32They do.
34:37Well, the jacket is really nice.
34:39The inset pocket here is really, really nice.
34:43Look at that, Heidi.
34:44It fits okay because it does hang nicely from the neck.
34:46I genuinely don't understand the shorts though.
34:48They're very confusing to me.
34:52That is beautiful.
34:53And this is beautifully draped.
34:54This is well made.
34:56He draped and pressed it.
34:57There's no stitching in this.
34:59Sometimes that kind of simplicity of gesture and the technique that he knew how to do worked.
35:03It was effective.
35:04Can I put it on?
35:05Yeah.
35:06The fact that it was this unusual khaki kind of color made it less obvious.
35:11I'm totally in agreement.
35:12Look at the beautiful darts on there.
35:14Look, exactly.
35:14I was just about to say how nice that is made.
35:16Does this look good on me too?
35:18Actually, Tracy, it looks quite stunning on you.
35:20Yes.
35:20Well, so it suits more than just the model.
35:23Yes.
35:23Good to know.
35:29Amanda and Gabrielle.
35:30I got to see what's going on underneath.
35:32This to me looks worse close up.
35:34Oh.
35:34Now that you see it close up, it's even worse.
35:38I respect that there are at least creative ideas here.
35:41At least there's something.
35:42There's something here.
35:48Oh boy.
35:49The taste here is beyond.
35:52There's just no rhyme or reason here.
35:54Oh, this craziness.
35:56Why?
35:57Yeah.
35:57I've never seen a bathing suit bottom like that in my life.
36:00It makes me doubt Edmund's...
36:02Taste level.
36:03Yes, taste level.
36:04I blame him for basically making a shower curtain.
36:07It's pretty bad.
36:15It's sparkly and atrocious.
36:17You can't really imagine the customer who would buy this dress wearing that cape.
36:23With that cape.
36:24But there's nothing wrong with this mature design.
36:27It brings with it a lot of sophistication.
36:29But it's not a mature design either.
36:30Because it's not.
36:31The top of the dress is not great.
36:33No.
36:33It's really not well executed for such a simple, easy peasy, little pink dress.
36:42Oh, okay.
36:43I'm finding it a nice person.
36:43So, we made our decision.
36:46Alright.
36:46Let's bring them back out.
36:56Designers, your team's at the highest and the lowest scores.
37:00One of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
37:10It's clear that some of you had a very hard time working with your partners.
37:16Candice and Ashley, congratulations, you're both winners of this challenge.
37:30We don't normally give the win to two people, but we just couldn't decide which one should
37:36take the win here.
37:37Neither did we.
37:38Yes.
37:39So you both have immunity for the next challenge and cannot be eliminated.
37:43You can leave the runway.
37:45My partner, Candice, was amazing to be able to work with her and to get to know her more,
37:52actually.
37:54Who is it?
37:55Did you win, Candice?
37:56Did you win?
37:56We both won.
37:58Yay!
37:59It's empowering.
38:00It's everything and anything that I've worked for, right there.
38:06Jake and Lindsay, Lori, Swatnell, you're all in.
38:11You can leave the runway.
38:40Joseph, Merlene, Hanmeow.
38:43One of you will be out.
38:49Joseph, you're in.
38:50You can leave the runway.
38:57Hi, Meow.
39:06I'm sorry you're out.
39:12Marlene, that means you're in.
39:14You can leave the runway.
39:23I'll be dizzy.
39:27I've already lost myself.
39:29You have to work as a team.
39:31I know I've failed.
39:34Communication is the only way and the best way to fix it.
39:40We love you, Hanmeow.
39:43Our little mushroom.
39:44We love you.
39:49I'm fine.
39:50I'm fine.
39:50I'm fine.
39:50Don't make it.
39:51Deep breath.
39:51Keep strong.
39:53And you might be little, but you...
39:55She's fine.
39:55She pack a punch.
39:56This sounds like a very up room.
39:59That's because we love Hanmeow.
40:00Yeah.
40:01Well, we're certainly going to notice that you're gone.
40:03Yeah.
40:04Yes.
40:04So, Hanmeow, I have to send you to the work room to clean up your space.
40:07Okay?
40:09Best wishes.
40:11Okay.
40:11Bye!
40:12Bye!
40:13We love you.
40:16Several years ago, I was in China.
40:19I watched Project Runway season four in China.
40:21I never think about I can be in Europe and I can be in Project Runway.
40:26It's amazing.
40:28Thank you, Project Runway.
40:29Bye!
40:30Bye!
