00:00I think luckily for me, Pamela's special little boy has been sealed all these years inside of a plastic prison.
00:05Here's a relook at the Cotabiquia Artifacts Friday the 13th Part 3 Jason Voorhees 1-6th Scale Pre-Painted PVC
00:12Statue.
00:28Cotabiquia is taking a huge step into the world of horror, bringing you a classic film slasher direct from Camp
00:33Crystal Lake.
00:33The first in a new series of elite-scale artifact statues and stepping right off the screen from Friday the
00:3813th Part 3 is Jason Voorhees.
00:40After Pamela Voorhees prevented the summer camp's triumphant reopening in protest for her son's apparent death three years earlier,
00:46the now-adult Jason returns the cosmeum and havoc of his own.
00:49In Part 3, Voorhees makes his way to a nearby homestead and sets upon the teenagers staying there,
00:55and in this film, he finds that he dons the hockey math that made his character so iconic.
01:00As Fox would say, that's good. That's real nice, when describing, though, the Jason artifact statue from Cotabiquia.
01:05What isn't necessarily, though, nice is the price that Jason sells for now online.
01:10I think at the time that this guy was first available, expect probably to pay a little over $100 or
01:14so for him.
01:16Now, unfortunately, though, be the bearer of the bad news.
01:18To find this guy on places like eBay, at least in Canadian dollars,
01:22expect to spend at least $400 to $500 if you want to get this Jason for yourself.
01:26Now, I've already had a look at this Artifacts Jason years ago, though,
01:30but viewer Greg reached out to me and said,
01:32Hey, first of all, I like your content. Thank you for that, by the way.
01:35But if you happen still to have that Cotabiquia Artifacts Jason,
01:38would you ever maybe consider going back and re-reviewing him?
01:41Well, happy to oblige, Greg.
01:43And I mean, if there's anybody at all out there that would like to maybe see me do a re
01:47-review
01:47of something that I maybe have done before, by all means, let me know.
01:50If I still happen to have this, like I certainly would have had Jason,
01:53more than happy to oblige.
01:55We're going to go ahead, first of all, take the tape measure.
01:57Yes, we are. Yes, we are.
01:58And we're going to measure off to the very top of Jason's head.
02:01I'm currently going, by the way, on the display stand.
02:02Yes, he does actually need the display stand in order to stand properly.
02:06He does also come and include with some accessories,
02:08all of which we will be talking and discussing about in a second.
02:11But then, first things first, as promised,
02:13the figure of Jason from the Artifacts line stands 11 inches in height,
02:17or roughly 28 centimeters tall.
02:19Now, there were actually, in fact, several Artifacts statues released by Cotabiquia
02:23of the horror genre.
02:25There was a Freddy Krueger.
02:26There was also a Texas Chainsaw Massacre leather face.
02:29Unfortunately, I don't have any more.
02:30The Freddy Krueger decided it just wasn't my liking.
02:33So I ended up selling that one.
02:34And unfortunately, though, things got tough.
02:36So I ended up selling, though, those leather faces from the Artifacts line as well.
02:40I do kind of wish, though, I could have held on to them.
02:42But one, though, that I definitely wanted to hold on to was Jason Voorhees.
02:45He is definitely, though, my favorite of the ones that Cotabiquia had done.
02:49I don't think, in fact, they've done anything else other than those three.
02:52Jason does, in fact, come in clear with a display stand.
02:54The stand does, in fact, have to be attached onto the bottom of his feet.
02:58Without that, though, Jason won't be able to stand on his own.
03:01I don't personally really like attaching the stand constantly because the way that
03:05the pegs are designed, I think outside the two, this one right here, I think would be
03:10the most likely to break.
03:11Just the kind of plastic.
03:12It's that kind of plastic you can feel right away.
03:15It isn't necessarily brittle, but it's that type, though, that if you feel like you're going
03:19to be pulling something on it and it gets stuck, I know out of the two, this one would
03:23be the most likely to break.
03:25Of course, we do have the inside of the barn here with a little bit of hay.
03:28Looks good.
03:29No blood.
03:30No organs that I can see, at least.
03:32But again, like Jason, we'll have to attach onto this, the bottom of the display base.
03:36Does it say a year?
03:37I feel like it would probably say a year.
03:41I can't quite make it out.
03:42I'm even holding it up to the light.
03:44But again, like this statue was released at least about a decade or so ago.
03:48So Jason Voorhees, though, if you look at the bottom of his feet, I thought maybe like
03:52there would be the date right there.
03:54The feet may look flat to you, but yet, though, when you put him on this stand, I feel like
03:59he's barely standing on his own.
04:01He puts more of his weight really on the front foot, not as much from the back, because if
04:05you look at the back of his foot, his back foot is angled.
04:07So in theory, though, while realistically you could maybe have the figure standing on his
04:11own, I would definitely make use of this display stand because a figure of this expensive
04:16nature wouldn't want him to take a tumble.
04:19So let's go ahead and just get him back on the display base.
04:21You can see also, too, that one foot has a peg and one foot doesn't.
04:25So there is a specific way that these have to be attached.
04:28Plus, too, you really only just need to line up the footprints to know which side the foot
04:32goes on.
04:33So plug it on one side and then you just kind of have to push it just a little bit
04:37in.
04:38Then you'll be able to attach it securely onto that peg.
04:41And now you know at least Jason isn't going to be going anywhere.
04:43What may be going somewhere soon is the figure does come in clear with a couple of accessories.
04:48Now, he does have two configurations of how you can display the statue, one either with
04:52his arm straight, like you see right now, or one with the arm bent.
04:57And with those two ideas in mind, you can either choose to have the figure wielding the axe
05:02or instead you can also have him with his trusty machete.
05:05The machete is probably the most gnarliest of the two.
05:08I mean, even though, like if you're looking at the axe, the axe does look deadly, but
05:12it doesn't look like it at all.
05:13It's been used.
05:14It does look like it at least has been used by its age, but there's no blood at all on
05:18the head of the axe.
05:20Au contraire, though, when you look at the machete, on the other hand, you can definitely
05:24see, though, that Jason's been busy with it.
05:26Swooshing blood effects, though, splattered all across the front of the blade.
05:30Blade does look like it's sharp.
05:32It's not necessarily sharp where I feel like I may be cutting myself, but it does certainly
05:35look like it could inflict some damage.
05:37Do you like the coloring that they've done to the handle?
05:39I feel like, if anything, maybe the handle probably could have been a little bit darker
05:42of a brown than the lighter kind of tan color that we're getting here.
05:45But again, either one of those can be fit in his hands.
05:48When it comes to actually putting these into his hands, maybe the easiest thing to do first
05:52is just remove his arm.
05:54I know that's a little unsettling to see, but again, just to show you guys the differences
05:57between the two.
05:58One is the straight arm, or a little bit more straight, and one is more of the bent, kind
06:02of bent in a 90-degree angle bent.
06:04And if you wanted, for example, to, well, you know what, we'll go with the machete first.
06:09The machete, I'm just going to twist this around so you guys can see, the machete is
06:14kind of more the harder thing to get into his hands, because there's this little, you
06:18saw this earlier, there's a little, little notch that sticks at the end of that handle.
06:22And that's sort of what I feel ends up getting in the way when it comes to trying to put
06:26the
06:26blade into his hands.
06:27So again, you want to have it straight, you can do that.
06:30You're only really going to be rinsing and repeating the steps when you want to get into
06:33this hand.
06:34And again, we'll just attach that onto his shoulder, just like that.
06:38For me personally, when it comes to displaying this guy, now I haven't had this guy displayed
06:42honestly for a while, and that's why he's still sealed inside, or was partially sealed inside
06:46of his box.
06:46But if I wanted to have his arm straight like that, my plan probably was to have it displayed
06:51with the axe.
06:51Now the axe, you don't have to worry as much trying to finagle that into his grip.
06:55But what you have to do though, instead, let's just detach his arm once again.
07:00It's this, again, this little lip, this little bit of plastic that sticks out the bottom.
07:05Yet again, when you try to remove it, you kind of have to push it back just a bit closer
07:09to
07:09the palm and then just wiggle it back.
07:11Because the last thing you don't want to do, I don't even want to say it, saying it would
07:14only just jinx it.
07:16Again, we just kind of take that back out.
07:18Now with the axe, you don't have to worry really as much.
07:20The axe is detachable.
07:22First of all, like the coloring of the blade is kind of more like an off greenish gray.
07:26But this actually does detach.
07:29It's supposed to do that, by the way.
07:30I didn't break it.
07:32Just take the bottom end of the handle, slide it up through the grip there of Jason.
07:37I wouldn't say meet it in the middle, but just take the top of the axe though and just
07:40slide it through.
07:41Now you can also conceal that bit by just having the part where the two axes come together
07:46and hide it in between his fingers.
07:48Look at the long, gnarly looking nails that Jason does have.
07:53Now again, like for me personally, I would rather go with the straight arm and then the
07:57axe and then use the bent arm with the machete.
08:01But again, it's entirely up to you.
08:04We'll just kind of put those off to the side.
08:05I think what I might just end up doing is because again, I did start the review with the
08:09axe.
08:10I might maybe just wrap up the review with his bent elbow or do you want to see that now?
08:14Okay.
08:14I'll show you guys what that looks like now.
08:16So we're, I'm going to leave this with the axe already there because my plan is just to
08:20show you guys what it looks like with the machete.
08:22So again, we'll take the machete.
08:25Now using of course the bent elbow.
08:27Again, I don't really like the handle here of the machete.
08:32So being very careful again, just to kind of fit in between his thumbs and his fingers.
08:37Here we go.
08:38I seem to recall also the Horus Shoujo statue of Jason Voorhees had a very similar problem
08:42to just trying to get those accessories into the hand with caution and cautionly, not bending
08:47and breaking anything in the process.
08:49But again, if you want to get the bent elbow, just plug that back in place.
08:53And that's what it looks like.
08:55Now, again, you see what I mean?
08:56Like I, I think like the machete works a little bit better with the bent elbow myself, but
09:00if you'd rather though, to have the straight elbow or the straight arm and the machete do
09:04exactly what you want to do.
09:05So getting a closer look at Jason now, he does have a fair bit of weight.
09:10And honestly, though, most of the weight is probably centered more around his head.
09:13He's got quite the large head too.
09:15Now this is based obviously on Friday the 13th part three.
09:17So of course the portrayal of Jason would have been done by stuntman, late stuntman actor,
09:22Richard Brooker.
09:23However, though, when I'm looking though at the head sculpt of Jason, it could maybe just
09:26be by the fact that also his, like just the size of his neck specifically and the way
09:31that the mask is designed, it very much kind of gives me the read of Derek Mears, Jason
09:35Voorhees from, of course, the 2009 remake.
09:38Head sculpt looks really good on this.
09:40Maybe where I'm getting some of the Derek Mears is probably with the coloring of the
09:43mask.
09:43It is really less white as it is kind of more of a tannish color.
09:47Of course, you've got some discoloration around the outer area of the mask as well.
09:51It's a really good looking mask though.
09:53Chevron still are clean here.
09:54He's yet to actually get an axe wound there in the top of his head.
09:57Give it time.
09:57Give it time.
09:58I'm sure it will happen, happen soon.
10:00Can't really quite make out his eyes though.
10:02And that's one of the best things I like about this mask is the fact that you really can't
10:05see Jason's eyes underneath that as wandering of an eye as it may be.
10:09But he's got certainly though a very large looking neck.
10:17Spin this around so you guys can see.
10:18I was going to make a joke about somebody that has a lack of neck, but I think that might
10:22just be a little bit mean.
10:22The coloring though on his neck looks really good though too.
10:25You've got the discoloration, some lighter and darker colors of that skin tone playing
10:29amongst one another.
10:30It's a really looking, cool looking head sculpt.
10:33Now, because again, like it's Richard Brooker's design of Jason.
10:36He's not as wide necessarily in the shoulders, but he's very patty there on the top to the
10:41point where again, like he loses a little bit of his neck.
10:43This is of course a design that would be changed a little bit later on in the, in the Friday
10:47films.
10:47You know, one of the notable things though about Jason is the fact that obviously he does
10:50also have that olive colored shirt and of course the kind of grayish blue slacks.
10:55This looks really good on the figure as well.
10:58Now, one thing I do like about the figure is he does have a little gash mark there on
11:02one side of his hand.
11:03And actually, if you look further down too, he's got a little war wound there by the area
11:07of his knee as well.
11:07So it's not a clean Jason in the sense that at least he has inflicted some damage, but
11:12he's certainly given it more than he's taken it.
11:14I like the darker color that they've also added here for the back of his shirt that
11:18it's not just like the olive color that they've added some darker colors of that shade as well.
11:22So it just brings a little bit of contrast in colors.
11:25I can definitely though see why I chose not to sell this Jason Voorhees.
11:28First of all, he's crazy, stupid, expensive now, but also to again, like out of the three,
11:33I didn't really honestly think like the Cotopakia Jason Voorhees statue was all that great.
11:37The Freddie did seem like it was a little off on the face.
11:39I also really liked the leather face, but it just, and unfortunately just came to a point
11:43where I had to, I had to sell it just to kind of make available money for other things.
11:47I think they'll have a couple of bills, maybe some car expenses.
11:49Now that I remember it, yeah, there was a car, a car expense that did pop up as it always
11:53is the case with collectors just came out of nowhere.
11:56And unfortunately I had to part ways with some things of the things I did want to sell.
12:00I didn't really want to sell the Jason, but ultimately though the, the casualty and all
12:03that was the artifacts, uh, leather face, but still in the end though, I really am happy
12:07that I still held onto this one.
12:10It's unfortunate though, because like a statue like this goes for crazy money.
12:13Online easily.
12:14You can look it up on eBay artifact statue here as a Canadian, obviously that's going
12:18to be converted right away to Canadian dollars.
12:20It was selling.
12:21I think there's about three listings right now, as of right now on eBay and they're selling
12:26the figure for the statue for around like four to five.
12:28I've seen even like the late $500 to get the statue.
12:31And I think when he first came out, I quoted earlier saying that he was just a little over
12:35a hundred dollars.
12:36I think actually, honestly more, he's closer to like the 150 to $200 when he first came out.
12:41But again, like he's at least doubled that price since then.
12:44What I do really like about this Jason is the design of the character.
12:47If you really like Richard Brooker's portrayal of Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th part
12:51three, he definitely does capture that look.
12:53And then some, I like that they've added a few little, uh, gorier areas that Jason.
12:57So again, like he's getting it just as much as he's giving, although honestly, he's probably
13:01giving it a little bit more.
13:02One thing I also really liked too, is the swappability option of this too.
13:05So that if you don't like necessarily the idea of having a bent arm, you can also go
13:10instead rather to go with a straight arm.
13:12And then from there, obviously it's just entirely up to you, whether you want to have him displayed
13:15with the ax or with the machete, either way, he's a devastatingly cool looking Jason Voorhees.
13:20Unfortunately, he's a little harder now to find.
13:22And even, even then, when you do find him, he's going to be a whole lot more than what
13:25he was originally selling for.
13:27But if you can find him now for a decent price, he's well worth picking up.
13:31If you're available, if you're able, that is to find one.
13:34Now, some of the listings on eBay do actually have Artifacts Jason Voorhees listed with
13:39a limited edition quantity of only 12,800 made.
13:43That may seem high.
13:4412,800.
13:45What do I really have to worry about?
13:46Well, the hardest thing really isn't so much the fact that that number is high.
13:50It's more the fact that just online sites don't stock it anymore.
13:53So the only available option now to get your hands on Jason is to go through third party
13:58places like eBay and of course pay the prices that scalpers.
14:02I wouldn't, I wouldn't, that's not fair.
14:03I don't want to say necessarily scalpers, but maybe people that first had that figure
14:07and realize now that the value has gone up on it, they're just selling it for what they
14:11think they're selling it for.
14:12They're just selling for a little bit more.
14:13It unfortunately does mean that since it's time of first being available on online sites,
14:19the price has either doubled or in some cases tripled.
14:22So he's going to be a little bit more expensive than the first time you would have probably saw
14:25this guy online.
14:26Now, this guy does again have two different ways of displaying the figure.
14:30There are technically really four because he has, he has two different ways of displaying
14:34them with the arms.
14:34And then with those arms, there's probably even more than just four.
14:38If somebody wanted to calculate the math on that, then you'd be able to either have the
14:41figure displayed with the machete bloody or the cleaner looking ax.
14:44Now, one thing I do like think that Jason works best with is the angle in which the statues
14:49don't on display.
14:50I don't think straight on it's as good of a statue just by the way that they've got him
14:54posed.
14:55But if you have them like right now in that pose or as he's coming around, hold on, hold
15:00on.
15:03Right there, right there.
15:04I think it's the money shot though for Jason.
15:06Again, it's a great looking statue.
15:08I'm glad though that I chose not to sell him as it usually is the case.
15:11I mean, collectors will probably tell you all the same.
15:12And there's always those, those stories that collectors can tell you of, I had to get rid
15:17of my collection and usually isn't a collection where they, they get rid of it because they
15:20didn't want it anymore.
15:22They usually have to get rid of it either just because they're getting rid of, they want
15:25to free up some space or unfortunately even worse is the case that they have to free it
15:30up just to make some money.
15:31Just because again, like something pops up, real life pops up, adulting pops up.
15:36And unfortunately for me, what popped up was an unexpected car bill.
15:39And one of the casualties, unfortunately for that was the leather faces.
15:43I do again, regret that I sold the artifacts leather faces.
15:46I don't necessarily regret that I sold the artifacts Freddie.
15:49I mean, you can by all means go back and watch my review of the artifacts Freddie.
15:52It was okay, but I don't think it was anywhere near as good as what we got here with Jason.
15:57Again, a big thank you to viewer Greg.
15:59Greg actually did say like, again, I really like your content.
16:02Would you ever consider to have a look at the artifacts Jason Voorhees statue?
16:06I said the same thing to Greg that I can say to you guys right now.
16:09If I happen to have it still in my collection, I haven't unfortunately sold it for car bills.
16:14But if I have it, if you guys certainly would like to see me re-review something, by all means,
16:18let me know down below in the comment section.
16:20What did you guys think of this re-review of the Cotabiquia Artifacts Jason Voorhees from
16:24Friday the 13th Part 3?
16:25If you liked it, hopefully you did.
16:27Do it a song, throw it a like.
16:29You guys want to stick around for more so?
16:30I hope so.
16:31Hit the subscribe and of course turn on that bell.
16:33That's your way of at least knowing when new content is going to be coming up onto the
16:36channel.
16:37I can also help a little bit by telling you guys that there's always new content coming
16:41your way.
16:41So I hope you guys are going to be coming back for that.
16:43As always, thanks for watching.
16:45See you guys next time.
