01:00Wow, there's something you don't see every day. If you'd like to see maybe these Ghostbusters 1-8th Scale Polyresin
01:04Statues on your shelf, just know, though, that the Ghostbusters Peter Venkman and Winston Zedmore are sold first as a
01:09set, and they're currently available online right now for $430.
01:14Zedmore and Venkman are going to be sold as one set. Spangler and Stans are sold as the other.
01:18First, I'd also like to thank the folks over at Star-Ace that did kindly provide the samples that we're
01:22going to be looking at.
01:23This one review, we're going to be looking at Venkman and Zedmore, and then in the upcoming review, we're going
01:27to be, again, looking at Egon and Rey.
01:29For how tall the figures are going to stand, it probably makes no sense, really, to measure both, simply just
01:33because they're going to be about the same size as one another.
01:35So we're instead going to go right to Venkman's head, and I guess, based on that, you're looking at both
01:40statues standing roughly 9 1⁄4 inches in height, or about 23 1⁄2 centimeters tall.
01:46Both the two Ghostbusters are actually depicted standing on their no-ghost stands.
01:49The stands are actually separate in the box from the statues.
01:52So when it comes to actually getting them out of the box, you want to make sure that, first, you
01:56attach them on the display stands, and also, while you're doing it, be very careful.
02:00Unfortunately, though, full disclosure, I broke Peter Venkman's peg.
02:04I'm just going to remove one right now to show you guys that the bottom of the pegs are actually
02:08not metal, but they're polyresin, it seems, as well.
02:12One just broke completely clean off, and I'm going to have to go in there and glue the peg back
02:16on there.
02:16I do wish, though, while everything else really is mostly made of polyresin, that perhaps maybe the pegs could have
02:22been done mostly in metal instead.
02:24Just then you'd be avoiding any cases or any problems with potentially those pegs breaking.
02:29Just putting down Peter here quickly for a second.
02:32I show you, first, though, the no-ghost logo display stand.
02:35I do, what I like really about the stand is, first, though, that you have a raised surface, that it's
02:40not completely flat.
02:41What I also really like, though, is that we've got the ruins there on the top of the building, all
02:45smothered and surrounded by melted marshmallow, which I think is really cool.
02:49At first kind of glance, though, when you're seeing it from the top, it looks more like it's snow.
02:53But again, like when you see it up close like this, you can kind of see the gooey entrails of
02:57the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
02:59On the bottom of both stands, though, are exactly the same.
03:02They're going to both say Ghostbusters.
03:04Trademark Columbia Pictures 2024 and 2024, a Star Race Toys limited release.
03:10They also have rubberized feet on the bombs at the surface as well to prevent any scratching on surfaces.
03:14They're not numbered in any way either, but it's just, again, to prevent scratching when you put these down on
03:18a surface.
03:19I'm going to go carefully, though, put Peter back on the stands.
03:22I don't think, though, that the placement of the peg holes are any bit different from Venkman to Zedmore.
03:26They seem to be the same. But again, when you are putting them in, just be very careful.
03:31Now, really, I only need the one peg to keep them stable.
03:34But I think, though, one thing that they could have really done to fix the stands is, again, use the
03:39metal post, not relying on polyresin.
03:41Because that's the one place, as a connector, you would want the best secure option.
03:45I think metal would have worked a little bit better.
03:47I see, as we're all really looking at Peter, when we actually continue that look and look at the rest
03:52of the statue.
03:52I think, generally, he looks pretty good.
03:54I think, you know, Starius has done a decent job of capturing the likeness of Bill Murray.
03:59I will say, if anything could be said, he seems like he maybe has more hair than really what he
04:03is, what he has in the movie itself.
04:05Still, though, the coloring is pretty good.
04:07I like also the expression that they've given him.
04:09He clearly is looking up at something, perhaps the State Puff Marshmallow Man.
04:13Of course, he does have the Venkman patch there on the front of his jumpsuit.
04:16Straps, though, of course, containing the proton pack and keeping it on his back.
04:21The proton pack generally does look good.
04:22And the only one thing I probably would have said, though, is I wish that the bottom lights were actually
04:27painted in red, or at least one or two of them, because it doesn't actually look like the proton pack
04:32is on.
04:33Some additional coloring here on the meter on the side, the part that flashes on the proton, would have also
04:37been nice, too.
04:39Unfortunately, neither one of them are really bright enough to make it look like they actually have turned these on.
04:44You can see that he has all the things around his belt.
04:47I do actually like that they've given him really a real tube.
04:50That's a nice little attention to detail.
04:52They may have also done this, too, as a more safer way to attach this.
04:56Because had this been, like, again, polyresin, something looped like this may have had the potential to break a snap.
05:01But I do actually like that they've used a real hose.
05:04There's wires, by the way, on the proton pack.
05:07So these would actually be real wires.
05:08There's wires running up the top here.
05:10And actually, along the Neutrona wand, too, you can see that there's a red wire along the top connecting the
05:15front end of the nozzle to the back.
05:17And there's a blue wire here on the back, too.
05:20All in all, though, I think it's a really well-detailed proton pack and Neutrona wand.
05:23Of course, he has the No Ghost logo there on the side of his patch.
05:26Elbow pads.
05:27He's also got his little walkie-talkie there on the side.
05:29Zippers and pocks and everything has been captured really well.
05:32Even he's got the little clip there on the front of his belt.
05:34I think it's generally a pretty good-looking statue.
05:38But again, with this being poly-resin, you just want to tread very carefully and cautiously that things on this
05:43aren't going to potentially break.
05:45Winston Zedmore being really the same when it comes to his display stand.
05:48Probably not worth the time to really go through and look at the stand again.
05:52Again, we'll just carefully pick up Winston here and show you guys what he looks like.
05:56Now, he does, of course, have the mustache because we're talking about Ghostbusters 1.
06:00I think, again, it looks pretty good like him.
06:02The expression that they've given him his face, I think, is decent enough.
06:06I don't know, though.
06:07I mean, by certain angles, it does kind of look a little bit like Eddie Murphy.
06:11But again, I think for it being close enough to Winston Zedmore, I think it still gets the job done.
06:16Of course, it does have Zedmore down below here again on his patch.
06:19His Neutrona wand again in hand.
06:21The red wires, again, are real wires.
06:23The blue wire here on the back is the same.
06:25The tube is also still rubber.
06:27So, again, I like the look of that.
06:28But there's not much that changes, really, because, again, like it's standard-issued Ghostbusters garb.
06:34So, like, he's still going to have the walkie-talkie on the side.
06:36Elbow pads on the back.
06:37The no-ghost logo there on the side of his arm.
06:40But again, like the Proton Pack, as good as it may be.
06:43And I do like that they've used real wires.
06:45Again, probably more of a safety hazard.
06:47Just to prevent, again, like these from breaking.
06:49But it does also add some more realism to it.
06:51But, again, you know, speaking of realism, it would have been nice, though, had they made this maybe just a
06:56little bit brighter.
06:57I don't expect necessarily lights on this, because, of course, that would have increased the cost of the statues.
07:02But at the very most, though, had, you know, you can see kind of the red down below here.
07:06But had they made it just a little bit brighter, it would have at least given the idea that these
07:10Proton Packs are actually on.
07:13The poses are also a little bit different from one another, too.
07:15You can see, though, while I like the look of Winston's, I think I actually like Peter's just a little
07:20bit more.
07:21I like the way they've got the knees bent and he's kind of looking up.
07:23Winston seems more so like he's looking straight forward.
07:26But I kind of like the pose of even, if I was to kind of twist these guys and have
07:29them kind of like that,
07:31I think I really like the way that Peter is bent down a little bit.
07:34He seems also like he's a little leaner, too, not maybe as full in his figure.
07:38But, again, it's really nice-looking statues.
07:40Now, again, these are sold as a set.
07:42So Venkman and Zedmore are sold as one set, and Spangler and Stanz are sold as the other.
07:47They're still going to be selling for around that $430 price point.
07:50Because, again, you're also looking at these being polyresin.
07:53That's going to increase the price of them as well.
07:55The only thing I would say from a critique standpoint is, well, I think, again, the likenesses are pretty good.
08:00I don't know if, again, I think Winston's isn't, though, as good as Venkman's.
08:05And, again, one issue I really, again, had is getting this guy out of the packaging,
08:08getting the statues out of the packaging.
08:10Just, though, be really careful taking them out of the foam trays.
08:14It didn't happen at the time that I removed them out of the trays.
08:16But it happened, though, when I was trying to put Peter actually inside the stand.
08:20Those holes were all lined up.
08:21And yet, unfortunately, the peg broke off.
08:24The peg I have right over here, I could glue it back in place, which I will.
08:28Luckily, though, it still has the one functioning peg that can still securely attach them onto the display stand.
08:33But I do think, though, that Staris should have opted instead to use metal posts on the bottoms of their
08:39feet.
08:39And not just to add some additional stability, to prevent, though, also the one thing that ended up happening
08:44when I was trying to attach the statues onto the stands, that the peg, being the same material,
08:48unfortunately snapped off of Venkman.
08:50Now, as far as I know, these aren't being shipped out from the Shandor building.
08:53These are actually readily available.
08:54Online sites that normally are stocking Staris collectibles also have these listed as well.
09:00They're sold as a set, so they're both going to be selling for $430.
09:04The one thing, though, I think some collectors may have wanted to maybe be able to buy these individually.
09:08But I think the likelihood, though, if you're collecting Ghostbusters statues,
09:12eventually, though, you're still going to get to the same destination of wanting to have all four on your shelf,
09:16that instead of having to worry about buying them individually,
09:19buying them at least, though, as a set, you're only having to worry, then, about buying two sets.
09:23The Venkman and the Zedmore is one.
09:25Spangler and Stanz is the other.
09:26But again, these are available right now.
09:28If you guys are interested, big Ghostbusters fans,
09:30and would like to have some additional collectibles on your shelf,
09:32they're overall pretty good.
09:35Size-wise, they look good.
09:36They're, again, hand-painted.
09:38Which, again, you can really see the attention to detail that Staris puts in these pieces.
09:42Likeness-wise, I mean, you know, you could debate that some of them look a little bit better than others.
09:46I think, like, Venkman's looks better of a portrait than maybe Zedmore's.
09:50You can agree with that or disagree.
