00:00I don't know what popped up in Rey's head, but I know what popped up in the mail.
00:03Here's your look at the Star-Ace Ghostbusters, Egon Spangler, and Rey's stands.
00:06Polyresin 1-8 scale statue set.
00:30Delve into the world of the paranormal investigation with the 1-8 scale Egon Spangler and Rey's stands.
00:35Polyresin statues standing tall at 22 centimeters, meticulously hand-painted, and celebrating the 40th anniversary of the legendary Ghostbusters franchise.
00:43These statues capture the spirit and adventure, and the camaraderie that defines the series.
00:48I had to pay more for shipping because the contents were paranormal.
00:51Speaking of paranormal, though, we're going to be continuing our looks at the 1-8 scale polyresin statues of the
00:56Ghostbusters, thanks to the folks over at Star-Ace.
00:58This review will be covering both Egon Spangler and Rey's stands, then completing the second half of the two packs,
01:05having already again looked at Peter Venkman and Winston Zedmore.
01:07A big thank you to the folks over at Star-Ace that did provide these samples.
01:11These should be available right now, either in stores that sell, like specialty stores, that sell Star-Ace products, or
01:16you can also generally check online.
01:18Big Bad Toy Store, for example, I think has a marked-down sale right now on Egon Spangler and Rey's
01:23stands, if you are looking to complete the set, having already picked up the other two.
01:26For how tall the figures are going to stand, or statues stand, of course, I'm going to rely on my
01:30trusty tape measure, which, as far as I know, is not possessed by Gozer.
01:34For how tall the figures or statues are going to be, if I'm going right to the very top of
01:38the Proton Pack, Egon Spangler, and for that matter, I guess Rey's stands are about the same size, about 9
01:44inches in height, or about 23 centimeters tall.
01:47Speaking of those other statues, bringing now in Peter Venkman and sliding over here, Winston Zedmore, you can see that
01:54now all four of the Polyresin 1A scale statues are now displayed.
01:58They look great.
01:59I like that they're also all posed in a way that they look like they're firing up at what I
02:04guess to be is the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
02:06Initially, I kind of looked at both Egon, and I thought, like, with Rey, it would have been nice maybe
02:11had they included them maybe holding a Ghost Trap, maybe for Rey, the PKE meter then for Egon.
02:16But I think if this is going to be more the final scene, especially based on the display stands alone,
02:20it probably makes all more sense that they're actually all wielding their Neutrono Wands.
02:25Something I didn't show you from the statues before.
02:27Each one of the statues come included with an instruction booklet.
02:30It doesn't necessarily matter that I pulled this from Egon.
02:33All of them basically have the exact same instructions.
02:36It's funny, though, that with the images that they've used, first it shows you how the pegs go into the
02:39holes and how they sit onto their stands.
02:41I feel like these two boxes should be flipped around, because this would be the final step.
02:45What's also interesting, too, and if you've seen my review of the Peter Venkman statue, the pegs that they use
02:51look like they're also used by Polyresin.
02:53And yet, though, if you're looking at the image, am I the only one that looks at that and thinks
02:57that those are lighter silver?
02:59Or maybe the idea at one point was they were going to be using metal posts.
03:03Still, unfortunately, though, they're not using metal posts, so just they'll be careful attaching them onto the display stands.
03:08And, of course, you've got all the four Ghostbusters with all their display stands down below here.
03:13Moving that off to the side.
03:14These are rather interesting examples of the Ghostbusters, and I'm kind of glad that I looked at them later.
03:19They've added one thing to their legs, and you probably can already see something doesn't look right.
03:24I'm going to carefully, though, remove Egon from his stand.
03:27I'm just going to put him down here for a second.
03:30And let's just have a look at this display stand.
03:32Well, though, certainly the No Ghost logo is exactly the same with all of them.
03:35I think the placement of the peg holes is a little bit different depending on the character.
03:39Peter's, I think, was a little bit further down.
03:41I think even Winston's was a little bit further down.
03:43So, like, the holes don't seem like they're in all the same spots.
03:46Of course, the No Ghost logo looks fantastic.
03:49We know, of course, this is from the Shanhor building, of course, by the fact that there's all the marshmallow
03:52fluff all around there.
03:54Of course, on the bottom of the display stand, too, you've got the No Ghost logo.
03:58And, of course, you've also got 2024 Starrys Toys Limited with four rubberized feet.
04:04I wouldn't necessarily say on the adjacent corners, but they're at least there to prevent scratching on surfaces.
04:10What's interesting, though, about both Egon and Ray is that, yes, there is the post, like both with Venkman and
04:16Zedmor, but there's also this weird bar.
04:19I'm not sure why this bar is here.
04:21It's almost like this was left from the way that this was assembled, almost like to the point where this
04:26had to have been removed.
04:27Because it doesn't make sense, really, that there's post here, and then there's a bar that's connecting the two together.
04:32I mean, yeah, it's still a snatch is fine.
04:34I mean, you can easily just still slide in Egon, and you can do the same for Ray.
04:38But it doesn't look right.
04:40There's a bar clearly visible there, and I'm wondering if there was a factory error when it came to Egons
04:46and Ray's.
04:46Again, Ray's got the same issue.
04:49Despite that, though, let's go ahead and pick up Egon here.
04:52Despite also having the fact that he's got this bar across connecting his two legs together, he's actually one of
04:56my favorite statues of the Ghostbusters figures that we've looked at.
04:59The glasses do look like they're actually wires, so that they wouldn't have made those out of resin.
05:03This isn't a fully resin-made statue anyways.
05:06There's real wires that they've attached to Neutrona wands.
05:09Of course, a nice blue wire there on the back.
05:11And something I did also mention with Venkman's and Zedmor's is that they've also used a real rubber hose.
05:17That adds to a little bit of the realism to these statues.
05:19I think that's also there, too, just to prevent this from breaking, if that had been polyresin.
05:23I'm sure that that would definitely have broken.
05:25The back of the Proton Pack, again, looks to be exactly the same as the Peter Venkman and the Winston
05:30Zedmor.
05:30I still have kind of the same issue going, though.
05:33You can kind of see still that there's red inside of here, but had they maybe made that brighter...
05:38I mean, obviously, again, they can't have this powered up, because that would have only increased the price of the
05:43statue.
05:43But had, at the very least, though, they brightened up the red and the blue here on the side,
05:48it still would have made it look like the Proton Pack was actually turned on.
05:52Right now, it doesn't actually look like they turned it on.
05:54So I don't know how much busting ghosts they're actually going to be able to do.
05:57On the side, of course, we've got the No Ghost logo there.
05:59That does look nice and clean.
06:00These are all hand-painted, by the way.
06:02And I do really like the look of Egon.
06:06His stands...
06:07No, not Ray's stands, but the way they've got him to stand
06:09does kind of give him a little bit of an awkwardness, like he has to go to the bathroom.
06:14The way he's bent, I guess, is okay.
06:16I mean, obviously, with the weight of the Proton Pack and the sheer force coming out from the Neutrona wand,
06:20yeah, you do have to get yourself a stable standing.
06:23But it does, you know, it looks better, certainly, from the front.
06:26It's only really more awkward when you see it from the side.
06:29As for Ray's stands, though, again, his display stand is going to be exactly the same.
06:33Again, carefully picking this one up.
06:35This one does benefit from also having a ghost trap on the side.
06:39Unfortunately, though, one thing you probably can already see for yourself is that the ghost trap isn't finished.
06:44The side, though, that normally would have been a silver plate is still been left with black.
06:49And yet, though, they've actually gone in there and painted all the little screws and stuff in silver.
06:53But yet, the plate itself is still left to black.
06:56And, of course, also the alternating stripes of yellow and black that's been left off there as well.
07:01Well, I like that the ghost trap is there.
07:03What I don't like, though, is that the ghost trap is unfinished.
07:06Still, you've got the rubber hose that goes wrapped around that as well.
07:09And, of course, you've got the same proton pack there on the back.
07:11The main bunch of wires, those are actually real wires.
07:14There's also a couple of wires that are running off the side.
07:17And also, too, that little piece that sticks out the edge of that, that's also there as well.
07:22Careful, though, removing these from the foam trays, that this doesn't actually snag onto something.
07:27It does look like it's actually made of metal, but I think if it catches onto something as you're pulling
07:31it out from the tray,
07:32this could potentially run a risk of breaking right off.
07:37Unlike, though, Venkman, nothing has knock-on-wood broken on either one of these statues.
07:41But again, like, it doesn't make sense to me why there's this pull that connects the two legs together.
07:46Ray's got it.
07:47And Egon's got it.
07:48And the other two statues never had that at all.
07:51So it makes me maybe wonder if it came out of the factory as an error.
07:54It's funny, though, also, that I mentioned at the beginning of the review that these two were marked down.
07:59And I wonder if maybe the reasonings why they were also marked down had more to do with some of
08:04the factory errors.
08:05The unfinished ghost trap, for example.
08:08The fact that, again, like the bars are running in between the legs.
08:10When yet, when we've looked at both Winston Zedmore and, of course, Peter Makeman, they never had that issue at
08:16all.
08:17Their legs were perfectly fine.
08:18I mean, still, unfortunately, though, my peg broke on Venkman.
08:22But, I mean, no, he's no worse for wear.
08:24I mean, he still stands perfectly fine.
08:26I like collectively having all of these now on display.
08:29They're all posed in a way that kind of really looking like they're going to be firing off at the
08:34State Puff Marshmallow Man.
08:35And I guess also this whole time of talking about the errors for Ray Stanz.
08:39We actually even didn't look at Ray Stanz's face, which, again, I think is okay.
08:45He's missing, though, the ecto goggles there on the top.
08:47But, again, like, I think to go back and watch that final scene again, does he actually have the ecto
08:51goggles on the top of his head?
08:53I think face sculpt-wise, the paint is pretty good.
08:56I don't know if it's maybe as good, though, as Egon.
08:58I would say, like, statue-wise, I think my favorites are probably going to be Venkman and Spangler.
09:03I think those are probably the better two out of the four.
09:06It's just, though, really a shame that the one that I really like the most happened to have the issue
09:11with the post running in between his legs.
09:12Now, these two, unlike these two, are marked down online.
09:17Again, I don't know if that has more to do with the fact that there are those little issues with
09:21these two statues out of the four.
09:22Because the ones on either end were perfectly fine.
09:25I went back and watched that scene again in the finale with the Ghostbusters on the Shandor building.
09:29And, yeah, it doesn't seem to be the case that Ray is having the ecto goggles on his head.
09:33It's one of those things where you just assume that the character is always going to have it.
09:36But yet, though, when they're battling Gozer and the State Puff, he doesn't have them on his head at all.
09:41It's one thing, at least, though, that didn't have to be there in the first place.
09:44I guess Ray's not a bad-looking likeness.
09:46I think that Egon, honestly, is the better of the two.
09:49But, you know, it's, again, a shame that that bar has to be on the bottoms of his legs.
09:53It doesn't add problems, I would say, to the stability of the statues.
09:57Being at least that the posts go through into those holes, it keeps them at least stable.
10:02But it makes them weirdly looking like they're levitating off their stands.
10:06Venkman's, the actual display stands themselves, don't look that much different, really, than Venkman's and Zedmor's.
10:11Still has the nice No Ghost logo.
10:13And, of course, you've got the State Puff slime all around the rubbles of the Shandor building.
10:18I would say, like, if I was to handpick my favorites of the four that we've looked at,
10:22I would say it's probably Egon and Venkman.
10:24Then I would probably go Ray and Winston.
10:27What do you guys, though, think of these?
10:28Let me know down below in the comments section.
10:29Now, again, these are listed online.
10:32What's interesting, though, is that Venkman and Zedmor are still selling for $430, about $440.
10:37And yet, though, Egon Spangler and Ray Stantz were marked down,
10:41they're actually kind of more into the mid $300 to late $300 price point.
10:45And, again, I wonder if a lot of that has to do with the fact that, like, the poles are
10:49there, the unfinished Ghost Trap.
10:50And when you actually look at the listings online, you'll see that both the Ghost Trap is finished,
10:55and they don't have that post connecting their two legs together.
10:59Big thank you, again, to the folks over at StarEast that did provide this sample.
11:02What do you guys, though, think of the polyresin statues?
11:04The 1-8 scale statues of Egon Spangler and Ray Stantz.
11:08Of the four that we've now looked at, obviously, again, they're sold as sets.
11:11What would you put in your order of your favorite statues to your least favorite?
11:16Let me know down below.
11:17If you guys, in the meantime, did enjoy this video, you can do it as well and throw it a
11:20like.
11:20You guys want to stick around for more?
11:21So, I do hope so.
11:22We've got some more content coming away.
11:24Yes, we do.
11:24So, I hope you guys are going to be coming back for that.
11:26Of course, as always, thanks for watching.
11:28See you guys next time.
