00:00I think given the choice, I'd rather pay to get this shipped in the mail than make a deal with
00:04Malbolgia.
00:05Here's your look at brand new McFarlane toys, Elite Edition Image Comic Founders McFarlane Spawn.
00:32Todd McFarlane is a visionary artist, writer, and entrepreneur who transformed bold creativity into a global entertainment empire.
00:39He redefined Marvel's Spider-Man and co-created Venom before launching Spawn, a record-breaking independent comic that became an
00:46Emmy-winning series, feature film, and worldwide brand.
00:50As co-founder and president of Image Comics, McFarlane helped establish the third largest comic publisher in North America.
00:57He also founded McFarlane Toys, now one of the world's top action figure companies with over 150 major licenses, including
01:05Fortnite.
01:05His creative ventures have earned nearly 100 awards, including Emmys, a Grammy, and MTV Music Awards.
01:12And his next chapter is directing a new R-rated Spawn film produced by Blumhouse and starring Jamie Foxx and
01:19Jeremy Renner.
01:21Todd certainly over the years has built himself quite the pedigree, building it even on a character that spent most
01:25of his life in purgatory.
01:27Before that, we get a closer look at Founders version Todd McFarlane's Spawn.
01:31Let's take first the tape measure and see how tall the figure's going to stand.
01:34This now clocks in the second of the Founders Day figures that we've looked at, already looking at Savage Dragon.
01:40For how tall those spawns are going to be, I'm not going to count his cape, obviously.
01:43You're looking at the figure standing 7 inches exactly in height, working in and out to be a figure that's
01:4918 centimeters tall.
01:50Todd McFarlane's Spawn.
01:52Meet Eric Larson's Savage Dragon, also from the Elite Edition Image Comic Founders series.
01:57At the time of doing this review, Shadowhawk is also available right now.
02:00I'm just going to see if I can get my hands on him.
02:02I don't know if they have actually released any other figure from the Founders Wave so far.
02:06But of course, I'm going to try my best to get my hands on them as they come out.
02:10Of course, here's what the figure also looks like with another version of Spawn.
02:13If memory serves me correctly, and it doesn't always, I think this is the one that got paired along with
02:18the Batman.
02:18I looked around all on the packaging, and I was surprised not to find an actual cardboard reproduction of one
02:24of the issues.
02:25This one did actually come with the Savage Dragon.
02:27It's actually issue number 30, and it does feature Spawn on the front with the dragon.
02:31But I didn't get one of these.
02:33Didn't get one of these, though, with Spawn, and I'm not really sure why.
02:36I looked around.
02:37It would be a hard thing, I think, to probably miss, because it was likely going to be on the
02:41back of the card.
02:42What he does, though, still come included with is the display stand.
02:45Now, the display stand, if just to bring in the one that came included with the Savage Dragon,
02:49does look, though, like it's exactly the same.
02:52Just that one was darker, one is lighter.
02:55I feel like I may have actually swapped these around, not necessarily by accident, but intentionally,
03:01because I feel like this one probably would have worked a little bit better with Spawn,
03:04and this one would have worked a little bit better with Savage Dragon.
03:08But either way, though, the molding are exactly the same.
03:11I feel like maybe the peg probably could be a little bit further over,
03:14because I've noticed when you go to put your finger on it,
03:17he doesn't necessarily stand flush in the middle.
03:20It seems like he almost kind of goes to one side.
03:22I would have maybe taken that peg and just moved it up a little bit over here.
03:26But still, he comes included with the display stand.
03:28Whether it be the same mold or not, that's not a bad thing at all.
03:31The figure does also come included with the trading card.
03:34Just to grab here, the trading card that came included with Savage Dragon.
03:37I don't want to say it's exactly the same,
03:39because clearly it isn't.
03:41One thing, though, that is the same,
03:42it does say Image Comics Founders on the side in gold font.
03:45And on the bottom corner here, it does also say Elite Collection.
03:49That's pretty cool.
03:50The back of the cards are very long and very meaty.
03:53In fact, it actually took me a couple of tries to read through Eric Larson's.
03:56I seem to be able to bang through Todd McFarlane's in one go.
04:00Just dust myself off here for a second.
04:02Just drop the card out the floor.
04:03But there's what the card looks like.
04:04It's a reproduction of Spawn, issue number one.
04:08I think I actually have that sitting somewhere.
04:10One of the first comics that I got from Spawn was the one,
04:12I think, with the violator in the front.
04:13It was at issue three.
04:14Issue three or four.
04:16But yeah, I really like the look of the fact that they included issue number one,
04:19featured on the front.
04:20Again, I'm surprised that they didn't include that as the large cardboard.
04:23But I kind of complained about that when we looked at that for Eric Larson's Savage Dragon.
04:26It would then be kind of me hypocritically saying,
04:29like, why would they include something that I didn't think they need to include with the figure in the first
04:33place?
04:34What he does have also included is the Elite Collection 50-point card,
04:39which I assure you I haven't yet scratched.
04:41So I'm going to take myself my knife here and just scratch this away.
04:44Ooh, I don't like the way that that's scratching.
04:46What else do we have here?
04:47I got myself a display stand.
04:49Would that work?
04:52It may not look like it works better, but it actually does.
04:54I don't feel like I'm scraping the card and giving my...
04:57Ugh, just the sound of, like, nails scratching on the board.
05:00But there's what we get here.
05:01You can scan the QR code, which will take you then to Elite.McFarlane...
05:06Ugh, I can't even make that out.
05:08Can you make that out?
05:10McFarlaneAwards.com
05:12Scratch the above, which I've already done right now.
05:14And then you can use that.
05:15Sign in to create an account.
05:16Click on Redeem Code and enter the code above.
05:20View the points history to see how many points you have earned.
05:23You don't have to, by the way, let me know down below in the comment section
05:25if you were the one that redeemed your codes.
05:28Because, again, I wouldn't want the rest of the people
05:29coming after you with pitchforks and knives.
05:32Speaking of pitchforks, speaking of knives,
05:34the figure actually doesn't come in clue with either one of them.
05:37But a nice little nod, though, to the original 90s toy.
05:40Like with the original release of Spawn from Wave 1 back in the 90s,
05:44the figure does also come in clue with a board with a nail on the end of it.
05:47Where's Moe right now?
05:48Chasing away Kang and Kodos.
05:51Careful, he's got a...
05:52What does he say?
05:53A board with a nail on the end of it?
05:54Anyways, though, it is the same, somewhat similar board with nail
05:58as the original 1994 toy.
06:01From what I remember, though, the original weapon,
06:04if you would want to really call it a weapon,
06:06was kind of more of a lighter color.
06:08I think this definitely looks a little bit more like realistic wood.
06:11Of course, this can't go into his hands.
06:13He's not going to really be holding much in the way of anything for weapons just yet
06:16because we have to swap out the hands.
06:18But I like that they included that.
06:20The figure does also come in clue with, while we're speaking of that,
06:22some swappable hands.
06:24Now, already on the ends of the forearms, you probably can already see,
06:26he has close fists.
06:28Not really going to be good for holding anything.
06:30However, though, he has a gestured hand.
06:32And he has a gripping hand.
06:34Now, you'll know which side that these belong to
06:36because the hand on this side has spikes on the tops of his knuckles.
06:41These hands don't have that.
06:42I mean, also, you could easily follow the rule of thumb that thumbs will always go in.
06:45So, you'll know that it's going to go, obviously, on that side as well.
06:48He does also come in clue with hands to hold things or also a gestured hand there, too.
06:52Now, you'll know that this goes on this side because I just finished explaining that.
06:56The spikes, you can see there on the top of his knuckles, I think, are really well painted.
07:01Let's go ahead and actually change out things right now
07:03because, again, he's not going to be able to do really much of anything.
07:05We'll just pop the hand off one of the pegs first.
07:08I think I just dropped the hand on the floor.
07:10Butterfingers me.
07:11Not a good way to start.
07:12Let's pop, then, the gestured hand in.
07:15I like this hand.
07:17I don't know, though.
07:18It does seem like it's a little bit lighter of a color than it is for this.
07:21I would imagine that they probably have gone and painted the forearm
07:24because, like, the hand actually is about more of the same color
07:26as the hinge joint that is in his wrist.
07:29So, it's not quite the same color, but it's still pretty close.
07:33Let's make sure that we don't drop this one on the floor.
07:35We're just going to pop this one off,
07:37replace it with a very more serviceable hand for gripping things.
07:41We'll just pop it back onto the peg.
07:44Wiggle it back and forth.
07:45No, not me.
07:46The hand.
07:47And now, he actually can have a means to hold the board with the nail on the end of it.
07:52It sits loose, though.
07:54I mean, so, when you're putting it in his hand, for example,
07:56it almost does really feel like the hand wasn't really designed to hold this.
08:00Because, like, if you look at this hand,
08:02I think, if anything, this hand probably would be better suited,
08:04or this weapon would be better suited to be on this side.
08:07But, you know, I like the gestured hand a little bit more.
08:10So, while this probably isn't the best for the board,
08:13however, though, again, if you put the figure down here for a second.
08:16Stay, stay still.
08:17Stay still.
08:18Just going to stand up right here.
08:20This hand, which, again, would belong on this side of the figure's body.
08:24Oh, there goes the figure.
08:25We're just going to get the board into his hand.
08:28And, again, this one holds it a whole lot better.
08:30Actually, it even survives the blizzard test.
08:32Pick this guy up, because he doesn't want to fall.
08:34Well, the one thing he does also come included with
08:38is the little orb of plasma.
08:40Why would we keep dropping spawn here?
08:42Just stand up right here for a second.
08:44Comes with the ball of plasma,
08:46which can actually, if we go back to the hand that held the board,
08:50just get the hand to go inside the plasma ball here.
08:54Now, I've noticed, though,
08:55it fits kind of in the way that it fits inside the grip.
08:59So, like, if you're kind of looking at it like this,
09:01this looks like it makes a little bit more sense.
09:03It kind of looks like a brain with a stem on the end of it.
09:06But if you kind of see on the inside of it,
09:08if you do want to use this hand-granted,
09:10it does kind of look like it's supposed to fit inside his grip.
09:14That may not be right,
09:15but that's kind of what I'm taking away from this.
09:17And, again, you can also go ahead.
09:20With all that work and all that effort,
09:21I'm only just going to pop the hand off anyways
09:23and just pop the new hand in place.
09:26Now, you don't have to have it where the orb of energy
09:30is right inside the grip.
09:31You can actually move it back a little bit,
09:32and you can also have the figure displayed that way.
09:34Now, the thing about that, though,
09:36is it really will look a lot better
09:38if you have it where, like,
09:39the main sculpt of it is facing forward.
09:42In other words, you're not going to be seeing it
09:43where the hollow side is facing.
09:45Like, you don't want to have it displayed
09:46where it's looking like that.
09:47But, like, again,
09:48you may want to just heat even this up with hot water
09:51just so it can actually fit properly around his hand.
09:54Again, based on the idea,
09:56if you want to have it displayed
09:57with this side of the figure's body,
09:58because you may very well want to have it on the other side.
10:02Just clamp that around his hand.
10:03There we go.
10:04That makes a little bit more sense.
10:06You can have the figure displayed that way.
10:08Yeah, it does sort of reveal
10:09the magic's tricks behind the scenes,
10:11but if you look at it from this side,
10:13it doesn't look all that bad.
10:16Something cool that also comes included with Spawn.
10:19I know we've so far looked at really more
10:21of the things that come included with the figure,
10:22and actually less of the figure.
10:23If you flip the cape around,
10:25located on the back of the figure's body,
10:27it actually kind of looks like a cartoon dog.
10:29His ears, where are you going with this?
10:32His ears, his eyes, right there.
10:33His nose.
10:34I know that's really a skull nose,
10:36but it does kind of look like,
10:37I don't know, like a cartoon dog.
10:40He comes with these chains.
10:41Now, the way that the chains work,
10:44this feels so awkward for Spawn.
10:46How the chain works, though, is it's a loop.
10:50In the loop, essentially,
10:51there's a peg on the end of it,
10:52and that's going to plug onto
10:53inside the sockets of those eyes,
10:54if you look at it as a cartoon dog.
10:56The chain then runs through this,
10:59just like that.
11:01They don't really actually go anywhere.
11:02They just more or less drape down.
11:05Now, based at least then on that,
11:07if you plug this on the back of the figure's body,
11:09there goes one.
11:10Let me just grab the other one here, too.
11:13And there goes two.
11:16There we go.
11:18You can either have them sort of just draping down,
11:20or you can also take some luxury
11:22to wrap these around Spawn's arms,
11:24for example, kind of like that.
11:26And it looks like he's got himself
11:27some chains to use as whips or weapons,
11:29I guess, either way.
11:31So I think that's kind of cool,
11:33the fact that they include something like that.
11:34There isn't really a stopping point to the chains,
11:37so they're only just going to be draping down
11:39the way that you see right now.
11:40If you pull too far on one side,
11:42it's only just going to unravel
11:43and pull the chain straight through that loop.
11:45But you can see there on the back,
11:47everything's kind of been blocked in the way there.
11:50There's the skull.
11:51There's the skull belt buckle there
11:53on the back of his body.
11:54Now, he actually has chains everywhere
11:56that are real chains except for one spot.
12:00Of course, he has the chains on the back
12:01that we've already plugged in.
12:02He has real chains linked here on the front
12:04with the belt buckle of the skull
12:06on the front there as well.
12:07The one place, unfortunately, though,
12:08they had to faux make chains
12:11is the section right here
12:12that connects the front of his cape.
12:13He's got smaller, like, smaller skulls,
12:16but right here,
12:17they unfortunately had to sculpt the chain.
12:19And my guess is, the reason why,
12:20they probably went surplused
12:23and got the exact same size chains
12:25for everything.
12:25So the same size chains that he has
12:27on the back of his body
12:28happens to also be the same size chains
12:30that he has here on the front of his body.
12:32And my guess is they probably
12:33just couldn't find small enough links
12:35that he decided to sculpt it instead.
12:38Last thing, though, for Spawn,
12:39the figure does also come included
12:41with his ground beef face.
12:44Again, a nod, certainly,
12:45to the original 90s toy
12:46where there was a variant of Spawn
12:47that had this face.
12:48He's also looked this way
12:49as well in the comics.
12:51Really cool-looking face, too.
12:53This can, again, be popped out
12:54with the head that he has right now.
12:56I'm not going to pop it just yet, though,
12:58because there's a fair bit
12:59that I kind of want to talk about
13:00before we actually get to doing that.
13:02Maybe, well, I'm also at it, too,
13:04just for the sake of posability.
13:05I'm going to unplug these
13:07because I know they're only just going
13:08to be getting in the way of things.
13:10Unplug this one as well.
13:11I'm just going to put it off to the side.
13:12We'll come back to them.
13:13We'll come back to them.
13:14Spawn's face is probably
13:15one of the best-looking Spawns
13:17that we've gotten,
13:17and yet me saying that,
13:19there is one issue that bothers me
13:21with not so much the head,
13:22but the thing that's around his head,
13:24that being the color of his cape.
13:27The cape overall, it looks good.
13:28It's all a real fabric,
13:30and they've actually taken some time
13:32to put a seamed-in wire
13:34so you can actually bend
13:35and manipulate the cape.
13:36There's a wire that also runs
13:37around the front here
13:38that goes wrapped around his shoulders,
13:40and there's also a wire
13:41that runs along the back here.
13:42I keep talking about wires,
13:44and yet the one place
13:45that I can't talk about having wires
13:47would I think be the most important place.
13:49He doesn't have it in the collar.
13:51Now, the way that you look at this,
13:53you could also say,
13:53well, if they had stitched in a wire,
13:56that probably would have bulked up
13:57the front of the collar,
13:59and maybe it would have lost
14:00some of the appeal
14:01it was trying to go with.
14:02I would maybe argue the point, though,
14:04that if they had at least
14:05put the wire in,
14:06there's not really that much
14:07that you can really do
14:08with the collar.
14:09It just sort of sits there.
14:11But had it been a case, though,
14:13where they could have
14:13maybe put in a wire,
14:15you could do
14:16what I'm just doing right now.
14:17You could bend it up a little bit,
14:19and let's just do it
14:20kind of on this side as well.
14:21You could kind of give him
14:23the look that he has
14:24in the comics,
14:24where the collar
14:26doesn't just flat out like this.
14:28It usually kind of
14:29bends a little bit.
14:31So this is what we started with.
14:33This is my proposed idea.
14:35Again, if they had put
14:36a wire right there,
14:37you could have actually
14:37bent the cape collar,
14:39and you could have done
14:40something a little bit more
14:41than what it's doing right now.
14:43I'm surprised that they chose
14:44not to include that,
14:45because, again,
14:46I feel like that would be
14:47one place that would
14:47just make the most sense.
14:49You could then design
14:50the way that you want
14:50to have the collar,
14:51especially if you're one
14:52that likes figure photography
14:53or just like to have your spawn
14:54better posed and displayed.
14:57Leaving off, again,
14:58a wire just didn't make
14:59much sense to me.
15:00Still saying that, though,
15:01I do think the head sculpt
15:02is fantastic on him.
15:04Again, one of the more
15:05classic-looking spawn figureheads
15:06that we've gotten.
15:07His eyes are a little small.
15:08I mean, they're also
15:09outlined here in black,
15:10so they're a little harder
15:11from a distance
15:12to make them out.
15:13Of course, he does, again,
15:14have the wire that's sewn
15:15into the top of his cape.
15:17I noticed, though,
15:18like the back section here
15:19is in separate parts.
15:21So like this piece
15:22that kind of looks like a hood
15:23is sewn on the back
15:24of the cape here,
15:25and it's looped
15:26around the front.
15:27So I thought for a second,
15:29I wonder if there's a way
15:30that I could take the chains,
15:32which, again,
15:33like just are looped
15:33on the end of it,
15:34and take that chain
15:35and loop it through the loop.
15:38What was that?
15:38Loop it through the loop?
15:40The thing about that, though,
15:41is even if I succeeded
15:42in getting it through,
15:43what would I do
15:43with the chain then
15:44once it's there?
15:45I mean, I could kind of
15:46have it coming off
15:47the shoulders,
15:48because, again,
15:49like you could loop it
15:49right through here,
15:50but there wouldn't be
15:51a place right here
15:52unless maybe I looped
15:53it through the front,
15:54but it would just maybe
15:55look a little too busy
15:56having more than one chain
15:57on the front of his body.
15:59The body looks good
15:59for spawn.
16:00I think it's, again,
16:01really well painted.
16:01This is back in the day,
16:03though, where spawn
16:03would have had
16:04these sections here in red.
16:05Since then, though,
16:06most spawns,
16:07like the one that came,
16:08for example,
16:08included with Batman,
16:10goes instead with the idea
16:11of just having the big M,
16:12the big M outline,
16:13and keeping the rest
16:14all in black.
16:16Again, you can kind of
16:17see the differences
16:17between having a fabric cape
16:19on a spawn
16:19and a plastic cape
16:21on the spawn.
16:22Plastic gives you
16:23a permanent look
16:24to the character,
16:25where you don't have to,
16:25you don't have to fit
16:27as much around with it.
16:28The fabric cape,
16:30though, does do
16:30a little bit more
16:31when it comes to
16:31just the appeal
16:32of making the figure
16:33feel, first of all,
16:34like a little more
16:34of a premium release.
16:35Of course,
16:36it does also have
16:36little pockets there.
16:37That's a trait
16:38that all 90s characters
16:39had, whether you're
16:40part of Youngblood,
16:41whether you're a spawn.
16:42I think,
16:42was there really
16:43a 90s character
16:44from Image Comics
16:44that didn't have
16:45some sort of thigh
16:47or arm series of pockets?
16:49Again, I don't know
16:49really what he's storing
16:50inside of that.
16:51He's got the boot guard
16:53down below here,
16:54which does seem like
16:55it's actually
16:56a separate piece.
16:57This also does look
16:58like it's a separate
16:59piece, too.
17:00It's, again,
17:00a really nice-looking figure.
17:02And let's, you know,
17:02while we've certainly
17:03looked at this head sculpt,
17:04let's go ahead
17:04and pop off this one,
17:07which, again,
17:07we just kind of get in there
17:08and pull it off the peg.
17:09And then we'll take,
17:10again, his swapped-out head,
17:12pop it back onto the peg.
17:14Now, one thing you can
17:15also do, too,
17:16and I just did that now
17:17with this figure's head,
17:19is if you sort of get
17:20the cape tucked
17:21underneath the head
17:22and then you put
17:23the head down,
17:24it helps to kind of
17:25keep the cape collar
17:27back a little bit
17:27as opposed to having
17:29it straight front and center.
17:30But again, like,
17:31had there only been
17:32a wire right here,
17:33you could have done
17:34just a little bit more
17:35with the collar.
17:35But again,
17:36really nice-looking
17:37head sculpt for this one.
17:39I would be almost
17:40so tempted to get
17:41more than one
17:42of these spawns
17:42so I could have
17:43one displayed with,
17:44like, again,
17:44the ground beef face
17:45and then one with
17:46just the regular mask.
17:48For spawn's poseability,
17:49his head is going to be
17:50going back to that
17:51on a ball joint.
17:52And it isn't just
17:53the ball joint here.
17:54There's actually
17:55a secondary ball joint
17:57at the base of the post.
17:58So there is a fair bit
18:00of movement
18:00that you could pull off
18:01with spawn's head.
18:02Though a lot of times
18:03as you're doing it,
18:04you're going to find
18:04you're having to get
18:05around the cape collar.
18:07The top of the torso,
18:08top of the torso to you,
18:09is going to be
18:10on a ball joint,
18:11so it does do
18:11a full rotation there.
18:13There's also
18:13an abdomen ball joint
18:15that's pretty much
18:15going to be doing the same.
18:17The arms do rotate
18:18all the way around
18:18with the benefit
18:19of also having
18:20a fabric cape.
18:21It doesn't get
18:21in the way of things
18:22when it comes
18:22to moving his arms.
18:23They can freely move out
18:25full 90 degrees,
18:26even actually higher
18:27than that.
18:28They seem like
18:29they are a little loose.
18:30Actually,
18:30this arm's not as loose
18:32as this one here.
18:34He does also have
18:34a bicep swivel,
18:35double hinge in the elbow,
18:37and of course,
18:38the hands rotate
18:39all the way around.
18:41Legs do split.
18:43You can take also
18:43the legs moving forward
18:44and back.
18:45There's a swivel there
18:46at the top of the thigh.
18:47More the way
18:47it's just been assembled
18:48in the factory.
18:49Double hinge
18:50in the knee.
18:51And then he's got
18:52ankle articulation,
18:53which I did notice
18:54ankles seem like
18:55they're a little loose.
18:56Not loose just yet
18:57that I'm starting
18:57to worry about them,
18:58but I do feel like
18:59they have the potential
19:00to be loose
19:01down the road.
19:02The figure does also have,
19:03again,
19:03toe articulation as well.
19:05Good looking spawn,
19:06though.
19:07Sort of interrupted
19:07my own train of thought.
19:08I do really like
19:09the look of this spawn.
19:10I didn't think
19:11I was going to really
19:11like the fabric cape
19:12because the problem
19:13with fabric capes is
19:14unless you can kind
19:15of contain them
19:16with wires,
19:18they can get
19:18a little out of hand.
19:20Luckily,
19:20though,
19:21not for spawn,
19:22most of the cape
19:23kind of keeps in line.
19:24The only one place,
19:25again,
19:25here we go again
19:26talking about the collar.
19:27The one place where,
19:28again,
19:28I feel like the cape
19:29probably should have
19:29had a wire,
19:30and for, again,
19:31reasons unknown
19:32because I'm not
19:32obviously the one
19:33responsible for making
19:34this figure,
19:34they decided,
19:35though,
19:35to leave the wire
19:36out of the collar.
19:37And I feel like,
19:38again,
19:38that could have been
19:39a good opportunity
19:40to get in there,
19:41move stuff around,
19:42get it posed
19:43and displayed
19:43the way that you want it.
19:45Things I also really
19:46like about this figure,
19:46though,
19:47is he also comes
19:47and includes a nod
19:48to the original 94 toy,
19:50the original board,
19:51and nail through it.
19:53Also come included
19:53with, of course,
19:54the ball of plasma,
19:55which right now
19:55seems to be wrapped
19:56around by a chain.
19:58I like that they
19:58included that as well.
19:59It does kind of look
20:00a little like a brain,
20:01doesn't it?
20:02Especially when you
20:03kind of see it
20:03from this side.
20:04The one thing
20:05I might not find myself
20:06putting on the figure,
20:07surprisingly enough,
20:08is these excess chains.
20:10Had the chains
20:11gone somewhere,
20:12like maybe there
20:13could have been
20:14peg holes on the sides
20:15of his legs or something,
20:16because like,
20:17as it is right now,
20:18unless I'm just
20:18missing the memo,
20:19there doesn't seem
20:20to be a place
20:21once you peg these
20:22into the back of the body
20:23where the chains
20:24could go somewhere.
20:25Yeah, you could wrap them
20:26all easily around his arms,
20:27but if you don't plan
20:28to do that,
20:29they're always kind of
20:30going to be draping
20:30on the back
20:31of the figure's body.
20:32I think for me,
20:33at least,
20:33I'm going to just
20:34choose to 86 them
20:35and leave them off
20:36when it comes to
20:36displaying this guy
20:37on the shelf.
20:39I think if I was
20:40to go back
20:40and re-watch my review
20:41that I made
20:42of Eric Larson's
20:43Savage Dragon,
20:44I probably would then
20:45cringe with the idea
20:46that I probably was
20:47considering passing
20:48on getting Spawn
20:48because I wasn't sure
20:50if I was going to like
20:51the fabric cape.
20:53Shame, shame, shame on me.
20:54In fact, though,
20:55one of the things
20:55I really like the most
20:56about this figure
20:57is the fact that he does
20:58have the fabric cape.
20:59Say what you will,
21:00say what I will
21:01about not having a wire
21:03sewn into the seam
21:04of the collar.
21:04The rest of the cape
21:06flows like butter.
21:07I love the look
21:08of the coloring.
21:09I like that it's frayed
21:10on the bottom of it.
21:11They've gone in there
21:11as well and airbrushed
21:13some additional darker colors.
21:14It just adds
21:15a little bit of love
21:16to what is already
21:18a really good-looking figure.
21:19Then you start to throw in
21:20nods from the 94 toy
21:22like the board
21:23with the nail
21:23on the end of it.
21:24The fact that he does
21:25have the meat face
21:26which is one of the
21:26variant figures
21:27that came released
21:28at that time as well.
21:29He also comes with,
21:30like I said,
21:31the chains that attach
21:32onto the back of his body
21:33which, you know,
21:34the chains are fine and good
21:36but unless the chains
21:37do really have a purpose
21:38and unless that purpose
21:39may be wrapping
21:40around his arm,
21:41I'm not going to wrap
21:42them around his arm
21:42so I feel like they're
21:43just going to drape there.
21:45So I'm just choosing
21:46to leave them off
21:47altogether.
21:47Speaking of things
21:48that are left off
21:49altogether,
21:49while Savage Dragon
21:50seemed to have
21:51the board reproduction
21:53of a Savage Dragon comic,
21:55Spawn seemed to be
21:56getting none of that.
21:57Maybe because he had
21:58extra accessories
21:59at his disposal,
22:00maybe because the cost
22:01of the budget
22:02of producing metal
22:03linked chains
22:03maybe made this guy
22:05tipped over
22:05with a little bit more
22:06of financially
22:07what cost to produce
22:08the figure
22:08and Savage Dragon
22:09just didn't have
22:10as much of that.
22:10I don't know.
22:11Either way though,
22:13again, I would feel like
22:14I'd be a hypocrite
22:14to say,
22:15why could they
22:16not have included
22:17the same board
22:17reproduction comic
22:18as Savage Dragon
22:20and then in that review
22:21of Savage Dragon
22:22I just said,
22:22I don't understand
22:23why they included it
22:24with the figure
22:24in the first place.
22:25Then anybody would be
22:26commenting down below,
22:27bro, you just finished
22:29saying the same thing
22:30in Savage Dragon
22:31and now you're complaining
22:32that the figure
22:32doesn't have
22:32the exact same thing.
22:33I know.
22:34I'm going to stop myself
22:35that train of thought
22:37and just say though,
22:38like if you haven't
22:38had the chance yet
22:39to pick up this spawn,
22:40it is well worth it.
22:42I might even just say
22:43as go as far to say
22:44as it's worth
22:45probably picking up too
22:46if you can find them
22:47for a decent price.
22:48The problem with figures
22:49like this though
22:50is that they aren't
22:51necessarily going
22:51for decent prices.
22:53The Founders figures
22:54for example,
22:54seem to be a little bit
22:56more expensive
22:56than your traditional
22:57McFarlane Toys figures.
22:59I know that when I bought
23:00the Savage Dragon
23:01and then when I bought
23:02the Spawn,
23:03I paid about $75
23:04a piece for them.
23:05I think you're also
23:07paying into the idea
23:08that these figures
23:08have more of a premium
23:10feel to them,
23:11that they're not
23:12your traditional Spawn
23:13or for that matter
23:14Savage Dragon figures
23:15that you're used to
23:15seeing on the shelves.
23:16I think because of that
23:18I don't mind that
23:19I had to spend
23:19a little bit more for it
23:20getting a Spawn in the end
23:22that looks this good.
23:23What do you guys think
23:24of Founders version Spawn?
23:26Specifically Todd McFarlane's Spawn?
23:28Let me know down below
23:29in the comment section
23:29have you guys had the chance
23:30to pick this one up?
23:31Is this one currently
23:32on your radar?
23:33Are you still stuck
23:34in Purgatory
23:35hanging out with the clown
23:36in Malbolgia?
23:37If that's the case
23:38I'd be curious to know
23:39what your internet speed
23:40is like down there.
23:41If you guys in the meantime
23:42did enjoy this video
23:43please do it of course
23:44this all and hit it
23:45with a like.
23:45You guys want to stick
23:46around for more so?
23:47I do hope so.
23:49Yeah, we're going to have
23:49some more videos
23:50coming your way.
23:50I hope you guys
23:51will be coming back
23:52for that.
23:52As always,
23:53thanks for watching.
23:54See you guys next time.
