00:20the twisted cult favorite character from the texas chains of massacre 2 is back with the reissue of
00:24a retro neca classic standing eight inches tall this fully posable action figure features updated
00:29paint deco and meticulously tailored fabric clothing paying homage to the classic toy lines from the
00:341970s chop top comes loaded with accessories including wire hanger razor lighter hammer
00:39removable wig and removable glasses i'm sure he's only really here to buy some radio ad time a k okla
00:45radio we're gonna be spending some time right now having a look at chop top now this is a reissue
00:50retro cloth version of him have they improved upon the original well unfortunately i don't have
00:54i don't have the original but i can tell you though there is one problem that i have with
00:59this figure and we're going to talk about that throughout sprinkled in this video in the meantime
01:04first what we're going to do is take the tape measure and i'm going to tell you chop top retro
01:08cloth figure of him stands about seven and a half inches in height working out to be a figure that's
01:1319 centimeters tall in fact what i find funny is i don't even have any retro cloth figures from texas
01:17chainsaw 2 points like that you just gotta laugh we're gonna maybe not necessarily laugh but the fact
01:23that we did get ourselves a retro cloth pretty woman leather face that did not improve upon the
01:28ankles hmm i wonder what could be maybe the issue with chop top uh here's also what he looks like
01:34with relative of his nubbins now i was really still feel like chop top should have been nubbins
01:38that survived from the first texas film some would say well i mean nubbins clearly was dead
01:43in the beginning well he i mean chop top really survived the war and he came back with a metal
01:48plate
01:48in his head is it far-fetched at all to believe stay right there is it far-fetched at all
01:53believe
01:53that chop top could have simply just been a survived nubbins from the very first film nonsense they say
01:58needless to say let's look at the accessories though that come included with chop top first the figure
02:02does come out with this swing blade uh razor now i wanted to bring in at least the razor that
02:07came
02:07include with nubbins it does seem if i can actually get those this one fully extended that the razor blades
02:13seem exactly the same just that though nubbins has a slightly more darker colored handle and that
02:19chop top has a slightly lighter handle be careful though bringing the blade all the way up you'll
02:24find it actually the pops the blade out sometimes from the handle so you just want to make sure you
02:27don't accidentally lose that this is something i'm sure you could have displayed with the figure i'm
02:32sure most people though would likely display chop top he's always picking away at his noggin with
02:37instead though the hanger now the figure that the fact that this figure is a retro reissue
02:44leads me then to believe that the company could have then gone and looked at things and said okay
02:48well here was what the issue was facing the first figure that this the first time we released it
02:52what can then we do those steps involved to improve the figure when we reissue him again
02:58unfortunately though some of the things facing the first figure seems still to be facing his figure as
03:03well he comes first with this hanger now obviously he's going to be picking away at the
03:06side of his plate the problem with that though is he only has one hand on this side that's good
03:11for
03:11holding anything for reasons unknown chop top has a gripping hand too wide of a grip really to hold
03:18any of the other accessories but you can't do anything with really this hand the one workaround
03:23i found was if you take like the hanger for example you can kind of wedge it in between his
03:28fingers but
03:28that just that looks so wrong that looks like you're forcing something that should have never been forced
03:33in the first place why though unfortunately because like if you wanted to have the figure displayed
03:38with lighter and hanger because again he lights the hanger and then he kind of just uses that to pick
03:43away at his flesh this hand right here the hand i'm pointing at right now i guess i really i'm
03:48not so
03:48much pointing at it you can take the hanger and you fit it into his hand and that's fine it
03:52holds well
03:53but then there's no place to hold the lighter i mean yeah you can maybe put it in his hand
03:57if you tilt
03:58his hand this way carefully place the hanger step back nobody sneezed wait what you look like you
04:04were ready to sneeze nobody make any sudden movements because you don't want that hang that
04:08you don't want that hanger you don't want that lighter to fall on the floor things don't improve
04:13at all either when the fact the figure does also come included with a hammer ah just more insult to
04:18injury the fact that this figure doesn't have any other means than just this side of the body to do
04:23all the main work with also only having a single hinge in the elbow knot i'm not going to fault
04:28necessarily for the fact that they only have single hinges in the elbows most retro cloth figures
04:32tend to only have single hinges yeah they could have maybe devised maybe a double hinge by this
04:38point but unfortunately though he's not going to be able to reach the hanger close to his head anyway
04:42so it's more just simulated like you'll have to just to pretend the fact he's just almost about to
04:48reach up and pick away pick away anyways let's take those take the hanger and put the rest of the
04:53accessories over off to the side careful just to remove it from there we go remove it from his
04:58hands hands i say hands really just single hand the figure does also come the way he is displayed
05:04when we see him at first when he comes into the radio station he just wants a tour um you
05:09can give
05:10him for example the wig now the wig just sits over top of his head it's a very baggy very
05:15loose piece
05:16uh i even like putting on his head i was just kind of i kept questioning myself do i have
05:22this going
05:22the right way is it supposed to be going this way it kind of looks more like the helmet of
05:27a royal guard
05:28in britain but don't disturb them whenever you do by the way but yeah that the hair piece i guess
05:34kind
05:34of goes that way i thought it really necessarily matters i'm sure you're not wrong by having it either
05:38way and then he also comes included with his little spectacles his glasses to which we can take the
05:43glasses and just put it kind of tucked in between now you could to be fair you seem to be
05:50making
05:50hard work out of this i know you could really then also take the glasses you could put the glasses
05:55over
05:55top of his ears like this you might even find that's easier the glasses by the way i do like
06:00that they
06:00have a like a purple tint to the actual frames the actual lenses and we can go ahead and just
06:06take
06:06the hair piece put over top like that careful not to blame the glasses there we go and you have
06:11chop top the way they're sitting inside the seat of course you know before she gives him the tour
06:15this is a lamp this is a typewriter this is the doors you know see your way out i i
06:21don't know if
06:21i'm likely going to be displaying i i always kind of really like chop top when he's got the glasses
06:25and
06:25he's got the wig it just seems i don't know dare i say so british but again like most people
06:31i'm sure
06:32probably will end up displaying the figure without that so let's just carefully remove the game the
06:35glasses i guess we probably could take the wig off my worry really was i just didn't want the
06:39glasses to fall on the floor you know i'd spend so much time having to go and look for it
06:43face wise
06:44though i think it very much does look like him bill mosley does fantastic job of top top chop top
06:50i think the figure looks fine i mean they have apparently advertised this guy as having improved
06:55paint and better tailored clothing not having of course the original right here i would then be
07:00able to compare back and forth and say yes this one's better yes this one needed improvements and
07:04improvements have been made from what at least i remember the face sculpt does look like it's been
07:09considerably painted better he seems a little bit more sweatier and grimier if that's even
07:13possible to have like he looks gross and i'm sure the other previous chop top looked equally gross as
07:20well obviously the big thing about him is the fact he has the metal plate inside of his head
07:23he lights and he lights the hanger of course he's picking away picking away where's the hanger it's right
07:28over here picking away picking away picking away picks off the piece puts in his mouth that's disgusting
07:35i know a kid when i was growing up that always picked his nose and put that in his mouth
07:39i mean
07:39i was pretty grossed out by that oftentimes i was holding back the barf i would be barfing all over
07:44the floor if i saw this i'm sorry if somebody was eating at the time this video was being played
07:49but i would just be vomiting vomiting all over the floor if somebody was scraping off the side of their
07:54hair the skin and just putting in their mouths don't do that please don't also do this too the figure
08:00it has a necklace made of teeth i don't know realistically if those teeth are accurate in size
08:05i mean that that looks judge judging by the teeth that he has what little that he has those are
08:09summer teeth some are there and some are not but the teeth though in his necklace are quite much larger
08:15but i guess they has to be that large in order to make them into a necklace i mean if
08:18they were small
08:19you wouldn't really be able to see them as well and not that really you want to spend a whole
08:22lot
08:22of time looking at gross disgusting teeth he does actually have two necklaces of them of course he
08:27does have also his tie-dye shirt he has what looks almost like like a faux leather vest so my
08:34only
08:35worry with that though is like will this split over time i mean i have had this guy have the
08:39packaging
08:39for very little time but over time i'm sure maybe something like this as a faux material may start to
08:44crack may start to split his pants look good i really like the look of his pants of course he's
08:49got
08:49the the patches there on the front the patches are a little on the shinier side i kind of wish
08:53that
08:53they weren't but the jeans overall look pretty good he's got bell bottom pants obviously here's
08:58one other issue and the biggest issue that really is facing this figure i know you really said a lot
09:02humbled reviewer about the fact the figure didn't have two gripping hands that's still a problem that
09:07bothers me but i don't know if it bothers me as much as these like with the pretty woman leather
09:12face that we've already had a look at they have not at all improved the ankle articulation on these
09:16figures so if we roll up the cuff for example very bare legs by the way you can see like
09:22he does not
09:23have an ankle rocker he only has just a peg that goes straight through ouch onto the other side and
09:29he's wearing his converse shoes and even on top of that in an insult to injury not only does it
09:33not
09:34have ankle articulation but the ankles will always like until i heat these up you can see like his feet
09:40go this way and this way so he always feels like he doesn't stand straight and on top of that
09:46you
09:46may already see for the fact the figure does have loose ankles this ankle's not so bad this angle is
09:52very loose and really should not again be this loose getting the figure out of the packaging right away
09:57it was only by lady luck alone that this guy was able to stand on the rotisserie when he was
10:02rotating
10:02around i hope he can actually survive as i wrap up the review of course we're not just going to
10:07wrap
10:07up the review just yet let's look at the articulation here for retro cloth reissue chop top the head is
10:14going to be on a ball joint just though be careful because he has these long strands in the back
10:17for
10:17his hair sometimes though they get caught to the necklace and when you turn the head you turn the
10:21necklace and you don't want to break that but again the head rotates back and forth up and down
10:26and of course there's a little bit of rocker there as well normally i wouldn't be able to say that
10:31the arms rotate all the way around but just because again he's got long sleeves that's going to get
10:34tight that's going to snap that's going to make you like niagara falls the arms do hinge out i could
10:42say at least comfortably that they go 90 degrees there is a bicep swivel there is a single hinge on
10:47the elbow so again bit of a bummer that it can't reach completely to the to the the side of
10:52his face
10:52so he can't quite pick away at himself hands rotate all the way around in the one thing i also
10:57wish to
10:57and and i know i'm now adding all the extra costs that neck of really should have invested in this
11:01figure
11:02there's no peace sign there's no peace sign hand like at the very least though if you can't give
11:07them two gripping hands i think i would have been happy to at least accept that this figure could
11:12have had a peace symbol far out man dude the figure does have a waist swivel no up and down
11:18crunch or
11:18anything like that legs do split and i i guess they split okay this leg is a little tighter this
11:23like a
11:24little looser somehow they get along tops of legs do swivel uh there's a single hinge only in the knee
11:29and again like to reissue this figure and not give him a ball joint in the ankles seems like a
11:35crime
11:35to me because again like all you can really do is move them up and down you can't rock them
11:39back and
11:39forth and again like that wasn't so much of an issue i guess it still was something that was going
11:44to
11:44bother me because his feet don't seem like they always want to be flat they always look like they're
11:49bowed out on top of that though i mean the fact that this side's already loose makes this guy more
11:54of
11:54a nightmare when it comes to him trying to stand properly standing alongside though even though
11:59they're not really part of the same film you can also for this bring in the nubbins and we could
12:04bring in the pretty woman leather face i had to be fair the texas chainsaw massacre 2 retro
12:08leather face i don't know where he went he went into a tote somewhere and i haven't been able to
12:13find
12:13him since i've gone to a comic book store lately and they have one i don't know if it's still
12:18going to
12:18be there or not but needless to say these are the ones at least i can have them compared with
12:22likeness wise i mean again i like chop top looks enough like nubbins again i always really feel
12:27like chop top could have easily been nubbins things i like about the figure paint looks good
12:31head sculpt looks great clothing looks generally pretty good i would imagine that they probably
12:35have improved upon that things i don't like about the figure is the fact that he has only one gripping
12:40hand so like he has three accessories if you count the glasses he has four accessories and yet you
12:45have to share those accessories with one hand instead of two and then the other one is obviously the
12:50fact that the figure doesn't have ankle swivels ankle swivels so he always has his feet like this
12:55i could heat them i could bend them back down but they should really be completely flat they should
13:01really be fully articulated but if they can't be articulated they should at least be flat getting
13:05this guy completely out of packaging chop top didn't pass the chopping block when it comes to my
13:09opinions of the figure there are definitely shortcomings when it comes to him being reissued again
13:13if you're going to re-release a figure re-releasing tells me at least if you're going to go in
13:17there
13:17and improve the paint improve also the outfit that he's going to be wearing as well they already
13:22have retro version two bodies that have better ankle articulation you're telling me that they
13:27had to reproduce the exact figure from scratch same body same molding to the head sculpt and not just
13:33think well we already have version two retro cloth figure bodies can't we just use that instead
13:37because it's unfortunately one thing that happened before with a pretty woman leather face it now
13:43has happened again with chopped off nubbins also had that as well they didn't fix the feet so the
13:48figure only will have the pegs to go straight through the ankles ow and that's only going to
13:52mean that the ankles move up and down like you can already see i'm having a hard time getting this
13:56guy to stand properly the one foot is only angled out the other foot is loose so you know again

14:02i'm just hoping as this guy continues to rotate he's not going to be falling over great i'm just now
14:07jinxed it by saying that and and again on top of that the figure doesn't have two gripping hands you
14:12know he has a hammer he has a lighter he has a hanger that he's got right now in his
14:16hand and
14:17because of that he only can at one point at any given point only hold one accessory at a time
14:22swapping out a hand for a different hand would have been ideal or even just a peace hand you know
14:27i
14:29would want to say like this figure would be a pickup but outside of improving obviously just
14:34the paint and the and the wardrobe i don't think there's really that much different that if you
14:38already have version one chop top you need to invest in getting this guy again again unless
14:43like the outfit is considerably better than now like when we looked at was it the pretty woman
14:48leather face that the pretty woman leather face i mentioned in that review that the suit was done
14:52better the original version one leather face had very visible stitch lines large pockets large buttons
14:59they definitely improved on it how much improvements have been made though for this outfit not having
15:03again the version one chop top you would probably have if you have that figure in front of you be

15:08better judge to say like the outfit is better than it was before but it definitely does need though
15:13better ankle articulation and you know again it just says to me like we already have version two
15:18bodies for retro cloth figures they're doing it now why couldn't they have done it for the reissues
15:23also i did also order this one on neca's online site and much like though if you've already seen
15:29my review of the child's play to chucky i ordered this guy late april and we're now into the first
15:34week of june and they finally did arrive so again i don't know what took so long for these things

15:38be shipped my way but again like throughout all this week we're gonna be all looking at a bunch of
15:42neca figures let me know down below in the comment section if you have version one chop top is it

15:47the improvements that they've made for this figure to get him again or you're happy just to stick with
15:52the first chop top you can't even really pick the side of his head oh that's so gross i just
