02:39As your commissioner of police, I am prepared to do my part.
02:43Are you prepared to do your part?
02:45Get on board.
02:46Are you on board?
02:47I am Bishop Ezekiel Clark, president of the Coover Police Station Community Council.
02:53And I am proud to say that I am on board with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in their
03:00fight against crime in Trinidad and Tobago.

03:23Crime prevention is everybody's business.
03:25I am Shiraz Khan.
03:27I am a farmer.
03:28I support the TTPS in the fight against crime.
03:31My name is Maldeth Maraj, president of Bishop Warner's Chamber of Industrial and Commerce.
03:36Crime fighting is everybody's business.
03:38We are all on board.
03:56Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
03:58And those of you who are locked on across the globe, of course, our sisters and brothers
04:01in Renata, we say good evening to you.
04:03It is Beyond the Tape.
04:05I'm your host, Whitney Husbands.
04:06And let's just say we are getting ready to end of the work week, entering into the weekend.
04:11And this weekend is extremely special because we'll be celebrating all the women in Trinidad
04:16and Tobago and across the globe because on Sunday is International Women's Day.
04:21So we'll be celebrating the women along with the TTPS.
04:24We will talk to them a little bit to find out what they will be doing for all the beautiful
04:28women out there.
04:29And, of course, I know they have something really special in place for that.
04:33So we will ask the officer who is here with us today a little bit more about that.
04:36And also, we are seeing stern warnings and, of course, words from our Honorable Prime Minister
04:42when it comes to school violence.
04:44This and so much more to discuss.
04:46Today, it's Friday.
04:48So that means we have our special officer here with us, ASP Russell.
04:53Good evening to you, sir.
04:54Good evening, Ms. Husbands.
04:55And good evening, Trinidad and Tobago and our international viewers on behalf of the Commissioner of Police,
05:01the Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police,
05:05and First and Second Division Officers of the...
05:07Esteemed...
05:08Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
05:10Good evening to you.
05:11I mean, and, of course, to our viewers out there today,
05:14it's a lot that we're going to unfold even though it's Friday.
05:16It's supposed to be where we unwind,
05:18but we are unwinding everything that's happening right now over the week and today
05:22because there's a lot taking place and no rest for the TTPS.
05:26Sorry to say, but that is the truth.
05:28Well, wise, the members of the TTPS and robots,
05:32we will continue to work hard, relentlessly,
05:37in pursuit of the criminal element to ensure that Trinidad and Tobago
05:41is a safe place and keeping with our vision to make every place in Trinidad and Tobago safe.
05:46Now, listen, I was in a roadblock yesterday, last night, yes.
05:50Where?
05:50After the show.
05:50No, no, no, I was happy.
05:52I would not say where the roadblock was because I don't know if it will happen again
05:56because I saw, I passed that recently and it was back there again,
05:59which, again, I'm not going to mention.
06:01But to see the officers out, it really felt good.
06:05It was inviting.
06:07Even today, I saw a lot of officers on foot patrol in the Port of Spine,
06:11here in different areas that I wouldn't have custom seeing them.
06:14So it's nice that we're seeing the officers out and about.
06:18Well, you know, the officers continue to work.
06:20It was Christmas, Carnival, SOE.
06:24Right.
06:24Before Christmas, well, SOE just completed, new SOE.
06:29You know, we hope that the CPO is looking.
06:32We hope that Trinidad and Tobago is paying attention
06:36and, you know, really recognize and appreciate the work that the officers do.
06:40We are not perfect and we don't always get it right.
06:42We know we have our issues and I assure you yesterday
06:46that the commissioner has certain initiatives
06:49that he is about to put in place so that we could treat with a lot of the issues,
06:54especially concerning the bad eggs.
06:57So we're treating them with that Trinidad and Tobago.
06:59So I continue to ask, firstly, that you pray for us.
07:02And very important.
07:03Secondly, that you have patience with us, that you cooperate with us,
07:07that you bring the information.
07:09And when we would have wronged you, we apologize, but we love you.
07:12And I wanted to understand that.
07:14We love you.
07:15I love the honesty.
07:16Now, something that we are seeing, the uptick with the school violence,
07:19ESP is very concerning.
07:21And it is not just in Trinidad, but also in Tobago.
07:24Even though, you know, we are seeing things shifting in a way
07:28where these young people don't care.
07:31It is clear.
07:31They don't care.
07:33Police officers there, military there, adults there, elderly is there.
07:38They don't business.
07:39If they want to fight or attack whoever, they're doing it.
07:43Well, Ms. Husbands, you know, I want to take things back to the parenting.
07:48I will tell you something.
07:49You know, sometimes we, and you would have seen it at times,
07:51you look at something on social media,
07:53and your child is actually doing something that the child should be disciplined for.
07:57But there's somebody in the background clapping and saying,
08:00I'm sure.
08:01She's cute, eh?
08:02Ah.
08:03And let me tell you something, Trinidad and Tobago.
08:05An uncontrollable 2-year-old turns into an uncontrollable 5-year-old,
08:10turns into an uncontrollable 8-year-old, 12-year-old, 15-year-old,
08:15and then you know, at that point in time, it's gone.
08:19So we have to go back to the parent.
08:22I listen to the news quite often, and I heard the Honorable Prime Minister
08:27making some utterances that legislation would be taken to Parliament soon
08:34to have parents held accountable for the behaviors of their children.
08:41Very soon, there will be an offense on the books created for that.
08:47So this is a warning.
08:49Take this as information coming to you so that you need to really hold back the reins
08:55and take control of your home, your home environment, and the products at home,
09:02meaning your children and relatives, loved ones, guardians.
09:07We expect cooperation, and we expect the same from you.
09:10Of course, I don't give the Honorable Prime Minister wrong at all
09:13because the reason why she's doing it is because of this.
09:17Take a look.
09:22Yes, you can see here, some sort of official is there trying,
09:27and this is in Tobago, by the way, right,
09:30to deal with a situation where it seems like three individuals
09:33and their girls fighting one person.
09:38And because of we're seeing someone in uniform, they refuse to stop.
09:43They refuse.
09:44This is madness.
09:45An adult is present, and no one sees it for it to say,
09:49you know what, let me pull back, let me stop.
09:50And then there's this.
09:53I believe this is also in Tobago again, right?
09:58Persons are running after an individual.
10:02Between vehicles as well.
10:03You can't play the audio because of the obscene language,
10:06and you hear in the way in which they're behaving,
10:08like, you know, they're cheering on.
10:09Yes, it got, get him.
10:12What is, why are our children so angry and comfortable
10:15to go to school?
10:17Look, the police is present, and they don't care.
10:21They don't care.
10:24And who it is to blame for that ASP?
10:27You cannot blame anybody else but the parents who are raising these children.
10:33Definitely.
10:33It seems as if you are raising schoolmen and schoolwomen.
10:38And, I mean, Trinidad and Tobago,
10:41sometimes persons may behave or they might say to themselves,
10:45it's not my child or it's not the school that my child attends.
10:50But let me tell you something.
10:52All of those children there at some point in time
10:54will complete school and come out into the society.
10:59All of these children there will finish their schooling at some point in time
11:04and will come out into the society as young adults
11:10looking for all sorts of different things, jobs and otherwise.
11:13And then they will realize now that something may have happened before.
11:17And when something hits the social media,
11:20parents, you all have to be mindful it does not leave that space.
11:24Once it's out there, it's out there.
11:28Monitor your children.
11:29Speak with your children.
11:32Pray with your children.
11:35Discipline your children.
11:38The Bible says the Lord chases those that you love.
11:41See, if you love them, you have to discipline them.
11:43And the PM is clearly doing that because she said it's time to get serious.
11:47Now, according to the Daily Express,
11:49the Prime Minister Kamala Basad-Basasa has doubled down on a position
11:53that violent children must be expelled from schools.
11:58So it is reaching the point where enough is enough.
12:01And how could we say otherwise?
12:04I have a child going to school.
12:06I will want to believe that, yes, they're different personalities.
12:11You will have times where somebody may upset you,
12:14but it cannot reach the point of violence.
12:16I would not feel comfortable knowing my child is in school and being attacked.
12:20And she cannot dare not put God out of her mind
12:24and feel she could touch somebody else's child.
12:26Far less stand up and bump up your chest for a teacher.
12:30That is a kick in her face.
12:31I'm sorry.
12:32What is that?
12:34Well, I wouldn't have wanted to.
12:35No, no, no.
12:36You could, no, no, no.
12:37My husband's.
12:37No, my daughter, no, what time it is, you know.
12:39My husband's, the kick in the face thing.
12:41It's a must.
12:42I am saying to you, listen, listen, listen.
12:46And I'll tell you something.
12:47We have to be careful how we do these things
12:49because then the child may be of your opinion
12:53that it may be okay to kick somebody else in their face.
12:55No, no, no.
12:55That is not the case.
12:56So whatever I'm saying, though,
12:58and all well and good that we get serious,
13:00and I agree with the expelling of the students.
13:02But remember, they are still students.
13:04They are still children.
13:05So we must have some rehabilitative program or process
13:09to involve, to enroll them in so that we can avoid recidivism
13:14and that they don't go back to that because, I mean, okay,
13:16so you're now out of school.
13:18Let's say it happens when you're around 14.
13:20Yes.
13:21And you're trying to catch yourself.
13:2318 meet you, and you're now an adult, a young adult.
13:26You are unqualified, uneducated.
13:29Angry.
13:29What are you going to do?
13:31You're left to either join the gang,
13:34involve yourself in a life of crime because you have to survive.
13:36And, of course, Trinidad and Tobago,
13:39everybody in Trinidad and Tobago like nice things.
13:41Why not?
13:42Yeah?
13:43So then what do we do next?
13:44So just expelling them would not be all and the end all,
13:48but there must be some program, some sort of rehabilitation,
13:52confidence.
13:53I am hoping that the system is set up correctly,
13:56that when they are so expelled,
13:59there is some level of continuation,
14:01and they can contribute to being upstanding members
14:04and citizens in the Trinidad and Tobago space
14:07because I, right now I might have to work to 65.
14:12That's right.
14:13And if they continue like that,
14:14I might have to work to 70.
14:15What's your faith?
14:17I don't think you would, would you mind work until 70?
14:20What?
14:21Every country needs you.
14:24Country, I'll pray.
14:25I'll be praying.
14:27I'll be praying.
14:28No, but I agree.
14:29It is not just expelling and then just show them on the wayside.
14:32We need to have something in place because now they will be in society behaving in that manner even worse
14:37because if the other elements hold on to them,
14:39they will just, you know, breathe.
14:42Those who will now be even more aggressive, more angry, more violent,
14:46and also we must pay attention to some of the learning issues and some disabilities.
14:53Some children are faced with, hence the reason why they lash out the way they do it.
14:57I'm not calling anything on anybody's child,
14:59but we need to observe traits and characteristics of our children
15:04and be honest with what we are witnessing
15:07and see how best we could assist with persons who are not financially able also
15:13to help with those issues and those who are financially able to really deal with the situation.
15:19Because there is, I mean, there are a lot of institutions out there that, you know, one can seek help.
15:25You know, especially between the civilists, we have the youth clubs, the Hearts and Minds.
15:31I thank the government.
15:32I'll continue to thank them for reopening the Civilian Conservation Corps.
15:36We have Boys Corps.
15:36We have a lot of different programs.
15:38My mom was a teacher.
15:40My sister is a teacher.
15:41My mom always said to me, she said,
15:44if you want to see a parent come in school, discipline the child.
15:49That child will be going zero.
15:51Every week of this, and the parents would not come.
15:53But as a hit mommy, nice child, the parents coming in school to fight.
15:57So then the children will start to believe, well, I'm untouchable.
16:00You can't tell me nothing.
16:01You can't do me anything.
16:02You know, so we need to really take stock to land to be good.
16:05We need to really re-evaluate how we operate, how we look at things,
16:09and really try to make a turn for the better.
16:12So no kicking a face.
16:12No kicking a face, please.
16:14Cool.
16:15Right now, let's take a look at what's making the SOE update.
16:20In the update today, number of operations, 302.
16:24Target priority offenders, 92.
16:27Searches conducted, 831.
16:30Traffic operations, 148.
16:33Total persons arrested, 122.
16:35Total persons charged, 28.
16:39Firearms recovered.
16:40We are seeing an increase with the pistols and shotguns at a total of 9.
16:45Ammunition recovered.
16:46And we're seeing the increase there on a total of 74.
16:50And dangerous drugs seized.
16:53Again, an increase with the cannabis and the cocaine or cocaine, as some people like to say.
16:59Yes, Lee?
16:59I'm going back to the usual.
17:01Firearms, ammunition, drugs.
17:04Yes.
17:05You know, and persons, I know how persons feel about the SOE.
17:13But until we could get it right, we would use any instrument we can use to fix it.
17:20There are things coming on stream, but we are asking for all hands on deck.
17:26Sir Robert Peel has always said, the people are the police and the police are the people.
17:32And Trinidad and Tobago, we have to realize that you don't know which illegal gun that you ignore today
17:40might be the same gun rubbing you tomorrow.
17:45Right now, let's take a look at what's making today's headlines.
18:17And those are your stories.
18:18Who's making today's headlines?
18:19Remember, you can give us a call at 623-1711, Accenture 1996 and 1997.
18:25We take that short break.
18:26We'll be back.
18:27Go!
18:30Go!
18:31Go!
18:33Go!
18:34Go!
18:36Go!
18:36Go!
18:36Go!
18:38Go!

19:47Visibly reduces wrinkles, burns, and evens tone.
19:51New Triple Power Serum by L'Oreal Paris.
19:53We're worth it.
19:55Oh, that is utterly magnificent.
19:58That is astonishing.
20:00Oh, brilliant.
20:02That is sensational.
20:04It's just majestic.
20:06Absolutely sensational.
20:10Coming up, another show-stopping performance from the Republic Bank Exodus Steel Orchestra.
20:15As Antigua and Barbuda got ready for its own fiesta of color and energy.
20:21New ideas for Tobago Tourism delivered at the Youth Congress.
20:24This highly rated property fits in perfectly with the vacation offerings of St. Kitts and
20:29Nevis, where the future of travel was laid out.
20:33It's Caribbean Passport TV on CCN TV6, tonight at 7.30.
20:38Hola.
20:39My name is Elena.
20:41Well, it's actually not my real name.
20:44You don't really care, do you?
20:47All you care about is want to pay your money to my boss that I look pretty, smell nice, smile
20:55for you, and let you have good time.
20:58Enjoying yourself and doing to me whatever you want to do for the money you paid.
21:03What you don't see or know is that I don't get any part of the money you paid.
21:08My boss takes all of it.
21:11I am forced to work, taking as many clients as my boss tells me to.
21:17I am beaten, made to take drugs, and I cannot leave this kind of work on my own.
21:25I am a victim of human trafficking.
21:29Please, por favor, help me.
21:51Welcome back to Beyond the Tape, of course, with us, if you're now joining us.
21:54We have ASP Russell here with us, and we open up the phone lines for you.
21:58623, 1711, extension 1996, and 1997.
22:03Let me just address two issues.
22:08There's a situation in River Trace, St. Augustine,
22:14where persons are playing some loud music and blowing their horns indiscriminately
22:20and disturbing the neighbors who has a young child.
22:24We are asking those persons to please take a look at your behavior
22:27and make the necessary adjustment in a positive way, please.
22:31In addition to which, a caller called yesterday,
22:35and the caller was asking about the offense where somebody parked.
22:41On the opposite direction.
22:42Right, so let me...
22:43Of the flow of the traffic.
22:44Right, so some research was done, thanks to Mr. Batson, one team.
22:49Under the MVA narrative, chapter 4850, section 5-1,
22:54and it says the driver shall keep the motor vehicle on the left of the road
22:59unless prevented by some sufficient cause,
23:02save where the road is wide enough to accommodate three motor vehicles abreast
23:06and is marked off by competent authority with a center line allowing vehicles
23:10occupying the center to turn right.
23:13So, like how we have the broken line that allows you to turn right.
23:17That's one.
23:18Two, this is me explaining it to him now, where the offense comes in,
23:23because you're parking facing the opposite direction,
23:25at some point in time you have to cross the lane.
23:28Correct.
23:29So, the offense really is, the ticket violation is,
23:32driver failing to keep motor vehicle on the left of the roadway,
23:38is the act of...
23:38Coming out of the park.
23:39And once you are parked, then it's obvious there's only one way
23:43you could have gotten on that side.
23:45The fine is $2,000.
23:47Excuse me.
23:48The fine is $2,000.
23:52That excludes the wrecking?
23:54Well, the wreck is cheaper than the fine.
23:56So, it's best to take the wreck.
23:58Best to take the wreck.
23:59Oh, yeah, there's no park there.
24:01So, what creates your pressure on Tobago
24:03is the fact that you have to cross the traffic on the opposite side.
24:06And, you know, a lot of it is caused by laziness.
24:09There's a place on Chargid Road where I see it quite often
24:12when I go to buy a meal on a lunchtime.
24:15Persons, everybody wants to stop right in front of the establishment.
24:19So, you know, now we know.
24:21Now we know.
24:22No excuse, right?
24:23So, as we move, we have some media releases from the TTPS.
24:26And as the officers continues to work extremely hard
24:30when it comes to getting the drugs and guns off the street.
24:34Now, over 23 million in drug sees in Southern Division, man arrested.
24:38An intelligence-led exercise conducted on yesterday, March 5, 2025,
24:44coordinated by two specialist units of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
24:50and members of the Southern Division Task Force resulted in the seizure of a large quantity
24:54of high-grade Colombian creepy is-backed cannabis
24:58and a quantity of cocaine in the Fisabad area.
25:02Now, during the exercise, officers proceeded to Richardson Trace, Fisabad,
25:07where thorough searches were conducted.
25:09As a result, officers discovered and seized five crocus bags containing 225 packets of Colombian creepy cannabis
25:18with a weight of 207.9 kilograms along with 0.5 kilograms of cocaine.
25:26Again, the combined estimate sheet value of the narcotics amounted to $23,104,720.
25:40Wow.
25:41That is a lot.
25:42One suspect, by the way, was arrested in connection with the fine.
25:45Let me make sure I see that again.
25:47Yes.
25:48One suspect was arrested in connection with the fine.
25:52I had to mention that because, you know, usually I come at you and say,
25:55where's the arrest?
25:56And even in the last one with Yvonne, there was a suspect arrested on scene too, eh?
26:00Okay.
26:01So we are doing tremendous work during our interview.
26:03I want to encourage you to continue to give us the information
26:05because none of our good work and our successes are really done without your input.
26:12You know, we owe all the thanks to you, $23 million in marijuana.
26:17Yes, $104,000.
26:19And, you know, we recognize this creepy brand seems to be the preferred choice
26:24or the preferred dealer or shipper of these drugs.
26:29Maybe, I don't know what is so special about it, but we will continue to work.
26:35Because I will tell you something.
26:36Some person might say it's just marijuana and marijuana decriminalized.
26:40Marijuana is not legal, it's decriminalized,
26:42meaning a certain quantum on your 30 grams and under is allowed.
26:48Marijuana should be used in your house.
26:50You know, there are persons that are just walking the street and smoking.
26:52Yes, they can.
26:53That is a ticketable offense as well.
26:55And I am saying to persons, there are a lot of persons that started with cigarettes
26:59and went to marijuana and then went to cocaine.
27:03Marijuana is also known as a gateway drug.
27:05So for some persons who think that the police is just trying to eradicate the herb,
27:10you know, because we have a lot of music that glorifies the use of marijuana.
27:17And it has been so since my school days and before me as well.
27:22And I am saying we must understand the dangers of these drugs,
27:26the consequences of the use of these drugs, you know.
27:30And I am just thankful that my neighbors were nosy.
27:35Listen to me.
27:36But it seems like the creepy marijuana is making persons to behave in a creepy way.
27:41So there's a creepy behavior that's taking place.
27:43And moving away from now the drugs we see in firearms,
27:46two held homemade firearms seized.
27:49Two suspects are expected to be charged with possession of firearm and ammunition
27:53following an anti-crime exercise in San Fernando on Thursday, 5th of March, 2026.
27:59Now, during the search, officers discovered a homemade shotgun
28:01along with one-round ammunition.
28:04A subsequent search of an aerial along the St. John Village cross-crossing
28:10resulted in officers discovering another homemade shotgun
28:14and four rounds of 12-gauge cartridges.
28:16Both men, ages 34 and 44 years of age, from San Fernando were arrested
28:21and are expected to be charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.
28:26So investigations are continuing.
28:29When you hear these ages, is this disturbing to me?
28:31Again, good work, good work.
28:3234, 44?
28:33Good work by the police officers, again.
28:35And we thank the public for the information.
28:37Every firearm, every rung of ammunition,
28:39or any firearm apart thereof that we seize, you know,
28:43is one less firearm on the street.
28:46It could be one less robbery, one less home invasion,
28:48one less kidnapping, because firearms are the tools of trade.
28:52And as we on that, the Western Division yesterday had asked me to just...
28:57They made an arrest with respect to somebody who has fraud-related issues.
29:02So, Trinidad and Tobago, if you would have done a business
29:06with Alex Taylor, Alex Singh, Alex Matuk, Alex Savary,
29:13or even also known as Alex Hadid.
29:15Oh, this is one person?
29:16Yeah, one person with various alias.

32:12Eh-eh.
32:16Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
32:20Let's take a selfie.
32:23It looking good, boy.
32:25I present it online.
32:29Hey.
32:30I thought you say you went to the beach with your parents.
32:33Who's you?
32:34It's me.
32:35Larry.
32:37From online.
33:05And we are back, and the phone lines will be open for you to give us a call.
33:08And we are back, and the phone lines will be open for you to give us a call.
33:08Remember, the number is 623-1711, extension 1996 and 1997.
33:14ASP Russell, we are seeing home invasions still being a struggle with regards to the TDPS trying to find a
33:19way to curb these home invasions from happening because the incident took place where a family beaten, robbed in home
33:26invasion, and bandits crashed the Prado.
33:29Now, a Chagona's family was bound and assaulted during a home invasion on Thursday morning.
33:36The criminals escaping with cash, jewelry, a mobile phone, and a vehicle that was later found overturned in Freeport.
33:45Now, the assailant stole $2,700 in cash, various pieces of jewelry, an iPhone 13, and a white Toyota Prado
33:54valued at $90,000 before leaving the property through the front door on the southern side.
34:01The suspects fled in the stolen vehicle in an unknown direction.
34:08First of all, you know, we want to say we will continue to try our best.
34:14Yes, I mean, situations like these, they are indeed heart-breaking.
34:20Your home is your castle, and I could understand the breach of privacy.
34:24I'm asking anybody in the neighborhood who has cameras, who would have heard something, who would have seen something, to
34:30please assist with this investigation.
34:34The victim, witness, and support unit would be readily available should the family require counseling, and I know that my
34:41officers would do their best.
34:42In all manners, in all manners, to try to, because when something like this happens, we bring our CSI, and
34:49we go through the whole house, and, you know, search, we check for fingerprints,
34:54and any little thing that could point us in a direction where we could apprehend the perpetrators with respect to
35:00this crime.
35:01I mean, I could only imagine the trauma, the psychological trauma that this family is now facing.
35:10Some persons don't even understand how people survive, how they carry on with their life after you do something like
35:19this to someone.
35:20And I am saying, parents, again, girlfriends of these criminals, girlfriends of these criminals.
35:32Just as guilty.
35:34You all are complicit in these things, too, because you, for one, know men speak, men confide, and you all
35:45have the information.
35:47Put yourself in that person's shoes.
35:49You would not want it to happen to you.
35:52So why condone it to the persons with the scrapyards and the dealership that buys the stolen vehicles and the
36:00stolen batteries?
36:03Please, please, because if there isn't a market for some of these things, they would not be stolen.
36:10To the jewelry stores that buys the stolen jewelries, to the cell phone stores that buys the stolen cell phones
36:19to make parts,
36:21to have parts to fix other cell phones, you are also responsible.
36:25To those who are saying things like, you can't trust the police, and the police just do this, and the
36:32police just do that.
36:33You, the civilian, and the business person out there, stop trying to offer bribes, because we would start to arrest
36:39you,
36:40and charge you for a fine bribe, because we will fix the service, you know.
36:45Let's not do.
36:46We will fix I ain't saying, but so maybe we will fix the service, and I have some tenure, so.
36:54We're moving forward.
36:54We have a call on the line caller, good evening, and welcome.
36:58Hello, pleasant good afternoon.
37:00Hi, good evening.
37:01Hi, thank you.
37:01Mr. Spahn, and Mr. Spahn, good job, beautiful program.
37:06Good evening, sir.
37:08An incident happened to me, Independence Band, Charlotte Street, on Tuesday.
37:15I came across Independence Square North from the eastern direction.
37:21When I stayed up Charlotte Street, I had to duck from a bunch of smoke, because I never smoked alive.
37:28But when I raised up, there was a next puff of smoke in the face of me.
37:32So I said, Jesus Christ, all this smoke went.
37:36Some young guys, they were, they started to use to say, Pops, why you don't stay home?
37:41Good, and, you know, I get some good at sea language.
37:44Well, I continued walking into a limelight.
37:47Thursday, please go, and I said, let me do an investigation into this situation.
37:52So I came on the western side of Charlotte Street, and I stand up and watch it.
37:58It's about three or four young guys, they smoking and selling marijuana right on Charlotte Street,
38:04by Lucky Bay Creek.
38:06I said, yes, the police, because I stand up there looking at them for quite some time.
38:11And the same, and smoking like it is, you know, something normal, some of us are doing it.
38:16You could probably do an investigation into that, please.
38:18Thank you, because I think it's very unfair and very discomforting to the public,
38:25especially people like myself who do not smoke.
38:27Thank you very much.
38:28I will do have a person there.
38:29I'll be sure of you.
38:30Thank you so much, sir.
38:32Kola, thank you, thank you, thank you very much for the information.
38:34I will definitely communicate with the senior superintendent, Mr. Thorne,
38:38in charge of the port of Spain division, so that we can pay attention to that area
38:42and put an end to this.
38:45Quickly, marijuana is decriminalized in Trinidad and Tobago.
38:48Does that mean persons who may grow with the illegal amount on their private premises
38:56could sell to people?
38:58No, they cannot sell to people.
39:01Indeed, the legislation, when you look at the legislation,
39:03I don't want to delve too much into it,
39:05because I know there's a, legally speaking, on a Wednesday,
39:08but when you look at the legislation,
39:10what is there is that you must have,
39:12it creates a license or a certificate for you to transport,
39:17for you to sell,
39:18and there's certain circumstances under which you could sell
39:23based on medicinal issues.
39:27You know, so there's a lot of things in the legislation.
39:29You can't just decide,
39:30I have four male plans for me,
39:32so I get and cut and sell.
39:33It doesn't work like that.
39:35Anything outside of that creates an offense.
39:38So is that trafficking?
39:40If you get held, well, or caught selling to someone?
39:44Yes, yes, that is definitely trafficking.
39:46Even if it's illegal among, you were selling.
39:48Yeah, you're selling.
39:49So you're trafficking.
39:49Yep.
39:50In addition to which trafficking also has to do with quantum,
39:53which was amended recently,
39:54and the quantum came down.
39:56In addition to which trafficking,
39:57anything within 500 meters of a school,
40:01I think it has, it's come down a little bit now,
40:04trafficking as well.
40:05So you could have one gram.
40:06Not 30.
40:07You could have one gram in the vicinity of a school
40:11and be charged for trafficking.
40:14Meaning one person?
40:16One gram in the vicinity of a school
40:19and be charged for trafficking.
40:22Interesting.
40:22Sorry, we have another call.
40:23Caller, good evening.
40:26Hello?
40:27Hello?
40:28Good evening.
40:30You're live, yes?
40:31Good evening, caller.
40:32Yeah, good evening, Mr. Russell.
40:34Mr. Russell and Mr. Husband.
40:36Good evening, sir.
40:37I am a first-time caller.
40:38I'm 69 years of age.
40:40When I used to go to school as a young fellow,
40:43and I'm in school,
40:44I never used to see people in one school
40:46fighting against each other.
40:47It used to be a little misdisturbance and things.
40:51But everybody used to check for everybody.
40:53Now they're fighting in their own school,
40:55their own children,
40:56their own friends,
40:56their own sisters,
40:57their own brothers.
40:59And next thing too,
41:00we only want to tell the parents
41:02not to put children to watch the show
41:03at 6 o'clock in the evening
41:05when everybody outside hustling still,
41:08the mother and the father
41:08and the child watching TV.
41:11How do we stop that?
41:13How do we stop that?
41:14This program's supposed to be a later program.
41:16And next thing too,
41:17the government are loving these criminal elements
41:20to escalate and give out their hand
41:22because they feel
41:24that they have to sympathize with them.
41:27But for some reason,
41:29they feel sorry for them
41:30and they're causing all the chaos in the country.
41:32I mean, come on, man.
41:33I used to be a hungry human being when I was small
41:35and I never come out so.
41:38I can't understand how the system,
41:40the system is over and over,
41:42we're holding people
41:43and we're not hearing
41:44what kind of sentence we're giving them.
41:47in confirmation
41:48that the whole person
41:49they say that they were the same drugs
41:50that we already talked about,
41:51but we're not going to finish.
41:54I'll see the fella again,
41:55or the woman again.
41:56And that's going on with everything.
41:58Don't come and back on the road,
41:59apparently they're going to take them off the road
42:01because they're coming back by the group.
42:07Thank you so much, Kola.
42:09ASP, you can hear the frustration.
42:11I can hear the frustration
42:13in the Kola's voice.
42:14However, when it comes to sentencing,
42:16sentencing is really from the judiciary,
42:18and the judiciary is an independent body.
42:20We cannot tell the judiciary what to do,
42:24and even within the law,
42:25every law, every offence creates punishment,
42:31and the judiciary could only operate
42:33within the confines of that.
42:35So let's say the punishment for the crime
42:37is up to 10 years.
42:39They can give aid,
42:40but they cannot give more than 10.
42:42So we have to understand that.
42:44With respect to the government allowing,
42:47and due to sympathy,
42:49I am seeing the Prime Minister
42:51really getting serious,
42:53the Honourable Prime Minister
42:53really getting serious about certain things
42:55with respect to the school violence.
42:57Again, but I am happy
42:59that we would start to make parents accountable.
43:01And about the program being later, sir,
43:05that one is out of my hands.
43:07All right.
43:08Ladies and gentlemen,
43:09we take that short break.

44:37We're worth it.
45:05We're worth it.
45:25Slavery. A terrible time in our history.
45:29The kidnapping, buying and selling of people for profit,
45:33the exploitation of another human being.
45:36It still exists today. It has a new name, Human Trafficking.
45:41Anyone can be a victim.
45:43There is forced labour, sexual exploitation and domestic servitude.
45:51Human trafficking is a worldwide problem and an emerging concern for us here in Trinidad and Tobago.
46:25If you know of or suspect human trafficking activity,
46:44you can give us a little more insight on that.
46:53Right. So, first of all, let me say on behalf of the entire executive of Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
47:00and every male, we want to wish all the women of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service,
47:06as well as all the other females in Trinidad and Tobago and in the other protective services,
47:14a happy International Women's Day, weekend and month.
47:23Hey!
47:23Because when you're a man of a certain caliber, we celebrate women every day.
47:27Yes.
47:28Very nice.
47:29I'm happy to hear that.
47:29And the TTPS wants you to know that, you know, women, we thank you.
47:33We thank you.
47:34We appreciate what you bring to the organization.
47:37We are nothing without you.
47:40Mm-hmm.
47:41Your contribution has been significant and I want to say especially good evening as well
47:46to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ms. Susan Martin.
47:49Susan Martin, yes.
47:49And, of course, I can't leave out, Ms. Achi.
47:52Mm-hmm.
47:52My man, we are probably watching at some point in time,
47:55but you have noted many in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service continue to keep up the good work.
48:01So, on Thursday, the 5th of March, 2026, in commemoration of International Women's Day,
48:08the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service,
48:12a city collaboration, right?
48:13Yeah.
48:13Successfully conducted a joint training initiative which was geared towards strengthening interagency coordination
48:21and operational readiness.
48:23The training exercise brought together female officers from the Guard and Emergency Branch, GB,
48:30the Prison Emergency Response Unit, ARU, and Prison Interdiction Team,
48:35highlighting the critical role of women in the protective services
48:39while reinforcing professional standards across both organizations.
48:44So, what areas do they focus on?
48:46Public order management, that is dealing with crowds, they see them in their riot gear on the television there.
48:52Restraint and control techniques, effective methods of conducting arrests, team integration exercises,
49:00command structure alignment, tactical cohesion between agencies.
49:04The exercise was spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Martin,
49:11Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Miguel Montrichard,
49:14and Assistant Commissioner of Prisons, Mr. Lee Davis.
49:17And they reflected a shared commitment by the TTPS and Trinidad and Tobago Police and Prison Service
49:22to engage in continuous interagency training that promotes networking, standardization,
49:29and boosting of public trust and confidence.
49:33By fostering collaboration between tactical units, both services reaffirmed their dedication
49:40to maintaining public safety through coordinated operational practices.
49:45So, we want to say kudos to the women.
49:47Listen, Jackie, could you pull back up some of those pictures quickly, if we can?
49:52Because, Lord have mercy.
49:54Yeah.
49:56Look how, first of all, the female on the left and on the right, wow.
50:01Yeah.
50:02Wow.
50:03They are fully equipped.
50:04I don't want to cross them any day, any time.
50:07Let's go to the TTPS.
50:10Again, wow.
50:11Fully equipped, dressed and ready.
50:13Especially the one on the left.
50:15Yeah.
50:16Wow.
50:16Yeah, y'all look great.
50:18Well done, ladies.
50:19Well done.
50:20Y'all look amazing.
50:21It's nice to see because, you know, we have young persons watching the show.
50:25Definitely.
50:26And they want to be part of the service as well and contribute to their country
50:29because y'all, obviously, y'all contribute so much to Trinidad and Tobago
50:33by literally putting their lives on the line for people you don't even know.
50:37And to see the females standing strong among the men, you know, I'm always happy to see that
50:41because they make y'all also look good, by the way.
50:44Well, of course, we are bolstered by the women in the organization.
50:46The women have a critical part to play.
50:48Yes.
50:49We just want to mention as well that there's going to be a walk as well.
50:52And we want you all to know in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Community Development
50:56and the TTPS look out for the International Women's Day Walk gift again.

51:15and, of course, you can come and you get free refreshments upon completion.

51:21We celebrate women this weekend on Sunday.
51:23So come and have some fun with the TTPS and, of course, the Ministry of Culture as well.
51:28We have a call on the line.
51:29Kola, good evening.
51:31Hello.
51:32Hi.
51:32Good evening, Kola.
51:34Yes, good evening.
51:35Good evening.
51:36Good evening.
51:36We need to find out what is the problem.
51:38What is the problem about having this program aired at this time?
51:42Why, you know, it's a problem.
51:46Why not that they're supposed to listen then?
51:48I do understand what is wrong.
51:50I passed it in.
51:51I start with it and I'm not interested.
51:52I'm not interested.
51:53Mom, excuse me.
51:54Excuse me, Mom.
51:55Sorry.
51:56We want to hear what you're saying, but we're not hearing you clearly.
51:58Yes, she's coming in.
51:59Broken up.
52:00Yeah.
52:00You could go again.
52:02What's that?
52:03Could you repeat yourself?
52:04We're not hearing you properly.
52:06What I was saying is, I mean, is that this or if not the children should not be looking
52:12at this program?
52:13Okay?
52:14Or if you say the children should not be...
52:15What is wrong that the children should be listening?
52:20you know all right is she saying should not or should be should be what should be that is what
52:29we are trying to get and I believe that the children should be watching looking at the program
52:35the program harm a lot of information is disseminated um throughout the program and
52:40there are a lot of things that persons could learn and persons could understand even the parents as
52:46well could learn and understand certain things as well and I think it would only auger well yes I
52:51think she was saying should and what I want to continue to tell persons use me as an example I
52:57grew up not too far from here for a spin is all I know I went success I went southeast
53:02I grew up in
53:03Dan Kelly I will be the product of a single parent home so it may even encourage parents who think
53:09that they cannot do it alone you can and you can get some heavy dose of prayers some Gordon and
53:14support
53:15it's very important you could do it and Lex we have a caller caller good evening good evening good
53:23good evening caller yes I'm calling a friend just the criminalization of the my one I'll tell you the
53:31product comes to the area and talk about you it's person smoking and traffic it's a situation of that
53:40should be with you and the field for there's no to forget the marijuana literally or the tree so how
53:49are they
53:49having 30 grams on their free what do you expect you to do it you can have 30 grams in
53:55public but you can't
53:57smoke it and I mean it's a total damage it's a pollution a whole issue of the tree it makes
54:05no sense
54:06and we're encouraging more youth it's more it was the son of the might want if you can come up
54:13now
54:13that's a market for it all right thank you so yes we could I share your sentiments so you have
54:32much to
54:33listen of I share your sentiments I totally I I totally agree you know we had to be careful the
54:40things that we it was done one of the main reasons behind it there were a lot of persons before
54:45the
54:45court clogging up the judicial system for our one joint or two joint or 30 grams or 50 grams you
54:51know so
54:51it was really meant as a way to get some of these off of the books and to declutter the
54:58backlog of cases
54:59within the judicial system are we benefiting from it I put one because we even have children smoking
55:06a long time and from long time yeah as well it's outside of the school compound as well I could
55:15also
55:16find a way to do with the vaping issue because I even mentioned this a while ago and I know
55:22it has
55:23been something that is now getting worse they're doing it in school in front of teachers and they
55:27don't care but well we will touch on a little bit more I don't want to call it to be
55:30holding on so
55:31call a good evening yes good evening good evening caller yes you're right go ahead could you mute your
55:40television and listen to us on your phone so you can hear us probably yeah hello yes go ahead mom
55:46good evening mom yes good evening good evening miss houseburn good evening good evening mom I want to
55:55uh make a contribution concerning what's going on in the school you know I remember there were one time
56:04when the pnm government lost and the government that came in after they did two things well I'm not sure
56:13about two let me say one thing that I'm very sure of they take away the whip from the teachers
56:19and the
56:19parents and I as an elderly I want to say this the scriptures the bible tell you that the the
56:30whip is
56:31important for good behavior they take away the whip from the parent they take it away from the teacher
56:40the children beating teachers today when I was a child going to school we were obedient because we did
56:49not want to get licks and it was a norm for us and most of my generation grew up in
56:57a good order what
56:59happened today the other thing I noticed when I was going to school we had biblical knowledge we had to
57:06stand in the entrance um outside the school and pray before we go into our classes you don't see prayer
57:15no
57:16more in school so the most important things was taken away from the children and the parent can be the
57:24child but the child could be the parent the child could be the teacher but the teacher can be the
57:30child
57:30I don't understand what's happening in our country all right thank you so much mom we have a few seconds
57:37to
57:37wrap things up yes mom you mom have this smiling I hope you know we look at it in a
57:43deeper context
57:43because sometimes these young men haven't been disciplined so you're it's no woman you don't talk
57:48about power pavlov operant and um i forgot the other word conditions that's the best conditioning of the
57:54mind okay and you know sometimes you have these males grow up i do something wrong agalash so something
58:01that carries on mom into their personal relationship with their significant other where they think that they can
58:07now discipline their girlfriend and their wife by striking them so we have to look at everything
58:13holistically and see the outcome the start the middle and the end the cause factor the cause and
58:18effect of the behaviors that we use we have to find innovative ways as parents guardians teachers to
58:24discipline children and if parents should work hand in hand with the teacher yes but you're not to be
58:29will you all have a wonderful weekend be safe be careful be vigilant look out for one another love each
58:35other take your time money nations thank you so much sq russell happy international woman's it's only
58:40woman out there this sunday music up next at seven god bless until next week we're out
