01:15Who has a story about Odysseus?
01:19You, you, you have a story?
01:35No one could stand between me and home.
01:38Not even the gods.
01:40The Odyssey.
01:43The Odyssey.
01:44The Odyssey.
02:01It's not a thrill when your speed can't kill.
02:23Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
02:24And of course, our international audience and our brothers and sisters in Grenada.
02:29Welcome you to Beyond the Tape.
02:30I'm your host, Whitney Husband.
02:31Now, today is officially the end of another working week and we get ready to slide straight in to the
02:37weekend.
02:38And I hope that persons understand that they also have to be responsible as we get into the weekend because
02:44this is a big weekend.
02:45This is the FIFA World Cup Finals.
02:48And I know many persons will be out and about looking to have a grand time, but you must be
02:53responsible.
02:54Of course, to guide us and make sure to keep us in line.
02:57I hate to say it like that, but to keep us in line, we have none other than our co
03:01-hosts with us each and every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, we have ASB Russell.
03:06Good evening to you, sir.
03:08Good evening, Ms. Husbands.
03:09Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, and our international viewers on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of
03:17Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police,
03:19and First and Second Division Officers of the S-Team, Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, as usual.
03:26It's a pleasure being here.
03:27I'm tired.
03:28Yes.
03:28I had a long yesterday.
03:29I had a long day today.
03:31I think that's almost everyday on the dialogue.
03:33Meetings in the morning, meetings in the evening, programs, it's a lot, but I'm here to have that dialogue, to
03:41exchange with the public.
03:42I know I told some persons I would call them.
03:44I didn't get an opportunity to call you today, but I am going to call you by Wednesday of next
03:51week.
03:52I will definitely call you.
03:55The gentleman with the situation in Arima who said that they put him out in the rain.
04:02I had the conversation with the senior superintendent in charge of the Northern Division,
04:06and if you can leave your number, she would like to get in contact with you to find out what
04:11really happened.
04:12So, when you're complete, I do work on your behalf.
04:14Give another update because there was one member, a person who called,
04:18and I don't think we got the opportunity to give that information yesterday where someone was being threatened at their
04:25home.
04:26I think it was in Malik.
04:28Malik, right.
04:29Right, so I understand that situation was dealt with as well.
04:32The officers did go.
04:33They warned the alleged offender, let's put it that way, and he indicated he was just making the utterances jokingly,
04:45but even making bad utterances or serious utterances in a joking matter could be considered a threat.
04:54The person who called Yeshua said that he himself was not at home, and the officer said they would have
05:00gone back,
05:00just to let him know that they did go and to have a further conversation with him.
05:04So, I hope that, you know, he was able to speak to the officers by now.
05:09Yes.
05:09But once you stand here and you give me, and I take your number, or I hear you, whatever it
05:14is, whatever it is I can do to help,
05:16because, I mean, we are trying to build back that trust, and if bit by bit each officer do their
05:22part,
05:23you will feel more comfortable dealing with the police.
05:25Most definitely.
05:26Now, speaking of dealing with the police, we have some information from the TTPS where they continue to work extremely
05:32hard,
05:32and in this media release from the TTPS, TTPS seizes over 13.6 kilograms of cannabis,
05:39two arrested in anti-drug operation in Arima.
05:43Now, 24 packets containing approximately 13.640 kilograms of cannabis were seized,
05:50and two men were arrested during an intelligence-led anti-drug operation conducted by officers of the Trinidad and Tobago
05:57Police Service in Arima
05:59during the early hours of Friday, July 17, 2026.
06:03Now, the seizure was made during, again, the Operation Resolute Shield, which continues to pop up,
06:09and it seems like it is working, conducted between 12.30 a.m. and 3 a.m.
06:14when officers of the Northern North Criminal Investigations Department executed an intelligence-driven operation
06:21at a residence along Soursop Crescent, Santa Rosa, Arima.
06:26Now, during a search of the premises, officers recovered the 24 packets of cannabis weighing approximately 13.640 kilograms.
06:35The estimated street value of the narcotics is being determined.
06:39Now, the two suspects, aged 27 and 49, were arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana
06:46for the purpose of trafficking and taken to the Arima police station where investigations are continuing.
06:52The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service remains steadfast in its effort to dismantle drug trafficking operations,
06:59remove illicit narcotics from communities, and enhancing public safety through sustained intelligence-led enforcement initiatives.
07:07Of course, and we could add suppressing gang violence and dismantling criminal gangs and gang networks.
07:14You know, again, we want to thank God for really carrying them and protecting them on these exercises.
07:21Ms. Osmond, these exercises are really, really risky, because a lot of the times where there are drugs,
07:28there are firearms, persons have to protect their stash.
07:31Ms. Osmond, So once you see the officers are able to go and really come back safely and get the
07:36legal substance,
07:38you know, we are always grateful for that.
07:40We want to ask the public to continue to work with us, because, I mean, I'm familiar with that Santa
07:47Rosa area, of course,
07:48and that is a very nice area.
07:52But go on, you must know Trinidad and Tobago who's living next to you.
07:56Ms. Osmond, who's definitely.
07:56So we thank you for the information and continue to work with us.
07:59I mean, we appreciate it.
08:01Well, clearly, the citizens are working with the TTPS because we have more from the media release here from the
08:07TTPS.
08:08Now, two arrested following armed robbery at Shogonis Minimart.
08:12Two suspects were arrested and a firearm recovered following a coordinated police response to an armed robbery at a Minimart
08:19in Shogonis yesterday, July 17, 2026.
08:22At approximately 12.55 p.m., officers of the Central Division Task Force responded to a report of a robbery
08:29with aggravation at a Minimart located along the Edinburgh 500 Shogonis.
08:35Preliminary inquiries revealed that two suspects arrived at the business establishment in a silver Toyota Aqua.
08:43The driver remained in the vehicle while the other suspect, armed with a firearm, entered the Minimart, announced a robbery,
08:51and discharged two shots before stealing a quantity of cash from the proprietor.
08:57The suspects then fled the scene in the waiting vehicle.
09:00Officers immediately coordinated with other police units resulting in the interception of the suspect vehicle along the Madhu trace in
09:10a short time later.
09:12A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a black pistol loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition,
09:19a pair of registration plates, and several items of clothing believed to have been worn during the commission of the
09:27offense.
09:27Now, a 31-year-old man of Charleyville and a 41-year-old woman of Enterprise were arrested and conveyed
09:35to the Shogonis Criminal Investigations Department along with the vehicle and other exhibits.
09:41Investigations into the matter are continuing.
09:44A job well done, though.
09:45Well done, Mrs. Hussman.
09:46So the gentleman who walked into the People's Establishment, bused two shots and taken.
09:49Yeah, take a movie thing.
09:51Because he had deed for that property, so that's his own.
09:54People trigger, happy, you think?
09:56Like when they get the gun and they go to collect some of these crimes and meet an offload.
10:00Some persons really have their own idea.
10:04They have to take a ghost.
10:05Yes.
10:05They'll be surprised if some of the conversations are there.
10:09But it's good work by the police.
10:11I mean, we're able to get the firearm, ammunition, 10 rounds of ammunition, so that's 10 additional lives saved.
10:17Get the suspects.
10:18And the vehicle had what?
10:19A separate pair of registration plates.
10:22So they had the intentions of changing the plates or the plates on the vehicle.
10:25To move.
10:26It's a wrong plate as well.
10:27And I want the public to also pay attention.
10:31Many of the matters that we discuss here and the releases from the TTPS in particular,
10:36we are seeing females participating in these acts.
10:41So don't feel that when you see a female, all is well.
10:46You also have to raise your eyebrows and pay attention because the females could be as ruthless or worse than
10:53the person holding the gun.
10:55They could be the person planning the whole crime.
10:57Nothing in this case.
10:58I'm going to make that clear.
10:59Well, Shineda, that is Ms. Husband speaking as a female to the females and the viewing population.
11:05I would not add anything further.
11:08So wait, is it that Mr. Ali sent you a message to respond like that?
11:11No, no one sent me, Ms. Husband.
11:13Because you have to be careful what you say in this climate.
11:17In this climate, you know, and persons have to be responsible.
11:20And when I come here, I represent the state.
11:22I represent the chance to make a police service.
11:25So there are things I would not discuss.
11:27Some of the callers do their best to try to draw me out to say certain things.
11:31But I ask God for the wisdom and the guidance and the discernment so that I always ask the Lord
11:37before I come on the program to speak through me so that the messages that I send is pleasing to
11:42him.
11:43Yes, but ASP in this case is an observation.
11:46And it's a very good observation.
11:47Yeah, it's just something.
11:48It's not to throw, you know, the gender under the bus.
11:52But I think people need to understand that women are also involved.
11:57Yeah, yeah, yeah.
11:58They are also involved.
12:00And have been for quite some time.
12:02No, but now it's popular.
12:03Like it's a popular thing.
12:04Because I mean, we have heard of several robbers by a person stop to help a female and then they
12:08get robbed.
12:09Correct.
12:10You know, so to the person who really have a genuine emergency on the side of the road, you know,
12:15and see, you know, people passing and they wouldn't stop.
12:17It's a bit.
12:19The people want to stop, you know.
12:21I try to.
12:22I slow down and then I change my mind.
12:23You know, just struggle.
12:26Yeah.
12:27Do I stop?
12:28Do I continue?
12:29What can happen?
12:29Do I stop?
12:30So I totally understand that.
12:33You know, but again, it go back to the community.
12:36It go back to parenting.
12:37It go back to family.
12:38You know, and, you know, we really have to really have these conversations with the younger ones, with the young
12:43adults.
12:44And I mean, look at some of the ages that we are hearing.
12:46We are hearing.
12:48We must be here a lot of young people, but now we are here in mid-30s as well, early
12:5140s as well.
12:52The place so hard.
12:53Being involved, but I know a lot of persons are saying that the place is hard.
12:58But there's a viral video of a man saying, why is the place so hard?
13:04No, seriously, I didn't.
13:07I did not see that message once.
13:10No, but that's how people feel, but that does not mean the same way I feel it.
13:14I feel it.
13:16Yes, I feel it.
13:17The place is hard.
13:18But I don't go in and hold you up and say.
13:21Well, I would appreciate it that you don't hold me up.
13:22Give me your things.
13:23Or that nobody hold me up, please.
13:25Give me your things.
13:26I must break my pen with your muscle.
13:27Give me your things.
13:30I wouldn't do that.
13:31I would ask you to kindly please allow me to keep my things.
13:35Say, ma'am, could you allow me to keep my things, please?
13:38Yes.
13:38I would appreciate that.
13:39I know everything.
13:40Yeah, but the place being hard doesn't give you the authority to go there and harm somebody
13:49or take away someone else's property or goods or valuable items.
13:53You know, that would not be condoned or tolerated despite how hard the place is.
13:57Where there's a will, there's a way.
13:58And it is incumbent on you and the responsibility lies on you, as they say on some of these stations,
14:04to get up and get it.
14:05Get up and get it.
14:07Legally.
14:07Yes.
14:08So, you know, there are things that you could do.
14:11You may not, you may fish every day, not every day.
14:14Every day is catching day.
14:16And that's for us who work too.
14:16But out there, there are things to do.
14:18Persons opening car wash, persons selling pies, persons, you know, there are different things.
14:23Okay, it may not be the bulk of money that you want at the point in time.
14:26It's a start.
14:27And it could keep your, because from the time you get lock up, first take bail.
14:33Yes.
14:33Lawyer.
14:34But you have to find out.
14:36Yeah.
14:37So you're in the red already.
14:38You're in the red already.
14:39It makes no sense.
14:40Yeah.
14:41Totally.
14:42All right.
14:42So at this time, let's take a look at what's making our SOE update as of July 17, 2026.
14:48Number of operations, 9,732.
14:52Number of targets prior to offenders, 2,617.
14:56Searches conducted, 3,748.
15:00Traffic operations, 6,018.
15:03Total persons arrested, 4,307.
15:07Total persons charged, 1,060.
15:11Firearms recovered, we're seeing an increase with the pistols and revolvers, giving us a total of 231.
15:18Ammunition recovered, we're seeing an increase with the 9mm, also the 12 gauge, the 5.56, the 0.38.
15:27And we're also seeing an increase with the 0.45, giving us a total of 4,326.
15:36And dangerous drug sales, we're seeing an increase with the cannabis and the cocaine.
15:41Yes, we were busy, boy.
15:42Mr. Sponsor, the red took over.
15:44And, you know, again, that could be as a result of the operation resolute that is taking place throughout the
15:51country in various divisions.
15:54And you look at it, more pistols, more firearms, more ammunition, more dangerous drugs.
16:02And we really have to really clean up the place as best as possible so that we can have a
16:08better treatment for you and I.
16:10For those who are hell-bent, you know, try and change your ways.
16:15Try and change your ways.
16:19The country ammunition is in the thousands, my husband.
16:22Yes, yeah.
16:23In the little Trinidad and Tobago, in the thousands.
16:26Yeah.
16:27In the little Trinidad and Tobago, I mean, what are they going to do?
16:31I tried changing my ways and I'm doing my best to on the roadways.
16:35On the roadways.
16:37Reason being, I saw something very interesting yesterday where a squad was happening and I wanted to pull out my
16:43phone to record it.
16:44And I was like, Whitney, don't do that.
16:47Because even though I am in traffic, it is still moving and it is an offense to go on your
16:53phone while in a moving vehicle.
16:55So I missed the moment, but I will tell you off here why I wanted to record it.
16:59I wouldn't put you all on this, but you're all going good thus far.
17:02Let's take a look at what we're making today's headlines.
17:03Let's take a look at what we're making today's headlines.
17:35And those are your stories making today's headlines.
17:38Now, ASP, in respect to men and women, when you're in your uniform, I'm sure, excuse me, individuals are, let's
17:48say, attracted to the male and females in the uniform.
17:52And sometimes we see or hear the comments that are made towards your officers.
17:56What do you tell the civilians, you know, especially, I mean, I'm sure it's more so uncomfortable for a female.
18:02You can lock me up any time you want family.
18:06Put me in handcuffs.
18:07Throw me that like.
18:10We live in a culture where we think it's okay to say whatever we desire.
18:17We think we live in a culture where we have a culture where, when it's carnival, we could just throw
18:24caution to the wind.
18:26As the artist said, out of body and then back to yourself.
18:30But, you know, we try to exercise that leniency.
18:33Of course, we want the respect.
18:34I mean, I would have had a few comments come my way.
18:37And I know there are women officers who would have had the comments come their way as well.
18:43And it is not, it is indeed disrespectful.
18:46And it shows a level of disrespect for the uniform as well, you know.
18:52And we as officers, we have to also set that example because sometimes we ourselves do things that disrespect the
18:59uniform.
18:59So, I guess it's about how you carry yourself because a person will do an assessment or measure you.
19:06I mean, and you can give a compliment respectfully.
19:08Yes.
19:09So, like, in this case, if a female approaches, you know, and say, oh, gosh, officer, you can arrest me
19:15any time, like, what would you say?
19:19I would smile and say, have a good day, ma'am.
19:22You wouldn't tell her, you cannot say that, ma'am?
19:24I would smile and say, have a good day, ma'am.
19:38It is, when you are on the receiving end.
19:41It is not nice.
19:42Yeah, and it is not nice.
19:44And when you're on the receiving end, then you understand how the other person felt and you have an appreciation.
19:48Because when you talk about sexual harassment in the workplace, and our culture is very loose, eh?
19:53Extremely loose.
19:54You know, so we are in the workplace and we communicate and relate to each other as babies.
19:58Yeah, babes.
20:00Yeah.
20:00Yeah.
20:00But we have to be careful.
20:03Yeah.
20:03It's our culture, yes.
20:04Yes, but we have to be careful that our culture don't end up putting us in a position where we
20:09have a question or two to answer.
20:11Yes.
20:12All right, so at this time, we will take that break.
20:14But remember, you can give us a call at 623-1711, extension 1996 or 1997.
20:20We'll be back.
20:33Cruise in, hotel, and yachting center, we're all about time.
20:37In fact, once you check in, there's no time to lose.
20:41Reconnect with a little family time.
20:43Make a splash with some pool time.
20:46Spend some treasured quality time.
20:49Or just immerse yourself in some quiet time.
20:52Indulge your senses at dinner time.
20:55We even have the perfect venue when it's your celebration time.
20:59So it's high time you visit Cruise In.
21:02Choose our day pass or call 607-4000 to make your dinner or hotel reservations or to find out more
21:10about our event spaces.
21:12Take a time out at Cruise In Hotel and Yachting Center.
21:20Cruise In Hotel and Yachting Center.
21:23Take a time out at Cruise In Hotel and Yachting Center.
21:35Get a chance out at Cruise In Hotel and Yachting Center.
22:16And welcome back. Remember you can give us a call at 623-1711 extension 1996 or 1997. We have ASP
22:23Russell here with us, my co-host this evening. We have to the phone lines. Caller, good evening.
22:56Good afternoon.
22:58And in each case, they said that an investigation will take place. If you could go to the investigation to
23:05search for me, I'd appreciate it. Thank you very much.
23:10Caller, I am not certain I can open any investigative process for you, sir, but what I can do, you
23:17can leave a number and I would call you during the week next week.
23:22As soon as the opportunity arises, I would definitely call you to get more information with respect to your situation
23:28and to see how much positive results my intervention would carry.
23:36Yeah. So, let's see if we can get that information from him. We head back to the phone lines. We
23:42have a caller. Caller, good evening.
23:46Hello.
23:47Hello.
23:48Hi, good evening.
23:49Good evening, caller.
23:51Yes, you're live, sir.
23:54Yes, can you respond to the operator?
23:57Yes, you can go ahead.
23:58Good evening, sir.
24:00Good evening, Mr. R, sir.
24:03Good evening, sir.
24:07Wednesday morning, I was proceeding on the highway from Shavala.
24:14I was heading on the north side, and I observed, I don't have this number right now, but I observed
24:22a black people who see them who was behind my finger.
24:26And I was sitting up first on the middle lane, and the gentleman who was driving the finger, put out
24:35a laminate paper, take that police.
24:42And sort of wave it to me, wave it to me, wave it to me, wave it to me.
24:46I didn't take thing of mine, I pulled him to the left of the driver, pulled on the right plane,
24:51come along, alongside my vehicle, and sat there watching me, watch me, and wave it to me, and I continued
24:58driving.
24:59And when he gets fed up, he drive up and got it.
25:02I am trying to find out if that was a difficult tool for me.
25:06If this is an intimidation of what, if this is something that the police is being tested to drivers, while
25:20they're on the road.
25:23Because my daughter was in the vehicle, and she told me to my daddy, that's legal?
25:28That is legal?
25:31When I came home, and she told her sister, what happened?
25:34My big daughter came to me and told me that my daddy was in a legal room.
25:40That's what we were doing, and my sister was here.
25:52And I said, it's something that is looking pertinent, and was not, was not looking properly, if it's a new
25:59charge, I don't know, put how much time is wrong.
26:03And I want to know if that is legal, for you to wave or laminate a single police charge.
26:13All right.
26:14Caller, you could leave the license plate with us, please.
26:18Ask me.
26:20Well, I know in the academy, during our training, we are taught how to do a frontstop signal, how to
26:30stop a vehicle.
26:30In the tactical units, they are taught and trained as to how to stop vehicles, as well as the guard
26:37and emergency, IETF, the MOPS, et cetera.
26:44That was so many.
26:45I'm not aware of this being a new process to stop a vehicle.
26:50I am not certain, because I'm not certain the type, the make of the vehicle had lights, because the call
26:56and all is not certain.
26:57Yes.
26:58And I was not there.
27:00So, I would not be able to say what it was.
27:03I have an idea of the laminated sign you may have seen.
27:08Yes.
27:09Because I, too, would have seen them before.
27:11Because we do have some laminated signs that we use on mostly ministry vehicles for carnival.
27:20Okay.
27:21Identify.
27:22Right.
27:23When they send ministry of works, we can assist with the transportation of the officers to and from their various
27:28locations for duty.
27:29But I'm not certain.
27:32I wouldn't want to stand here and make any positive pronouncement as to what it is.
27:37Because when it goes out there and the information is erroneous, it would say, that is what Russell say.
27:42Well, we will get the information and we will move forward with that to see if we can assist the
27:47person.
27:47We have another call.
27:48Caller, good evening.
27:51Hello.
27:52Hi.
27:53Good evening.
27:53Good evening, caller.
27:56Good evening, caller.
27:56Hello.
27:57Yes.
27:57Good evening, caller.
27:58Yes.
27:58Yes, you're live right now.
27:59Good evening, caller.
27:59Good evening, caller.
28:01Good evening.
28:04Good evening, sir.
28:06Good evening, sir.
28:07Good evening, sir.
28:07It was up to this morning, again, by my company, about 12 people putting signage on this evening.
28:14In Tunapuna.
28:17Can we start with us?
28:22We were in Tunapuna.
28:34Up this morning, I went to the station, Tunapuna, and told them, again, they said, I showed them
28:43They say, well, that service is half of the payment, but you can still work.
28:51They tell me, if somebody comes in opposite me and I go towards them, I have to wait for them
29:01to pass to go to my business on this side.
29:07Then what WP says, who is Wester? Then another police officer says, oh, he is always Wester.
29:18Right? So apparently some of those police officers don't know your ASP.
29:25Right? And again, they say, we must go there and keep our arm sentry.
29:35On the pavement there, line on the pole. They are not doing nothing.
29:39Then those business people constantly put it on the pavement.
29:44They are not on the pole of the pavement, half of the pavement.
29:49When I show the officer, he says, it is not on all the pavement, it is after the pavement.
29:57You can still work, so why you can't work? And they kind of, you know, talking to me away.
30:03Like, I, I, I, you put work force, you don't come and come to it.
30:09You know what I mean? Now with the police, it is a small matter.
30:17But it is still breaking the law of armies. You know what I mean?
30:23Yes, sir. I totally do. Thank you so much.
30:25And that's, that's obstruction as well.
30:28You know, and it goes even further, because I see a lot of persons would park their vehicle
30:33half on the pavement, half on the road, because they, they are, of the opinion,
30:37they don't want to block the roadway.
30:39But parking your vehicle halfway on the pavement is also an offence called parked on the footpath.
30:47So you should refrain from that as well, Trinidad and Tobago.
30:50And if your record passes and they see you parked like that, they will wreck your vehicle, Trinidad and Tobago.
30:58But, sir, what I'm going to do, I'm going to communicate with the senior superintendent at North Central Division as
31:05Mr. Giff.
31:06And I would have him look into it and see how best we could resolve this.
31:12Maybe it's just a simple communication, maybe with the business chamber of Tunapuna.
31:16And I know they have a very good working relationship with the police.
31:19So I would have that conversation with them.
31:22All right. We need to take that break.
31:23And when we come back, we will continue with your calls and more.
31:26We'll be back.
31:27Guys, today we're going to start a new topic.
31:29And that topic is entitled...
31:42There is no way I could teach in all that noise.
31:46And there is definitely no way we children could learn in that noise of violence.
31:52They deserve more.
31:54That fear, that anxiety.
31:56We have to have our classrooms filled with joy, laughter and hope.
32:02Not fear.
32:03That is why I support the TCPS School Oriented Policing Initiative.
32:09This is not just about law enforcement.
32:12It's about building trust.
32:15Parents, teachers, students and officers all coming together to provide a safe space where young minds can flourish.
32:25If we all stand side by side, we can protect our children, keep them safe and they can have a
32:34space to learn without anxiety and fear.
32:39I am ready to partner with the TCPS in fostering safe, respectful and empowered schools across Trinidad and Tobago.
32:50It's not a simple task.
32:52We need parents, students, teachers and communities to get involved.
32:58It's time to get on board.
33:01Securing our schools. Securing our future.

34:38A message from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
34:54And we are back. We head back to the phone lines. We have a caller. Caller, good evening.
34:59Yes, good afternoon.
35:00Hi, good evening, caller.
35:02Good evening, caller.
35:04Yes, good evening, my gentlemen. Please, I'm begging. I'm on my knees. Do something about the noise level on the
35:11cars where I live.
35:13The glasses, the windows are just shaking. The noise is too much. Can you all please, please, please, please.
35:22So what area? What area is this?
35:24I'm in St. James, but that is not only here because sometimes I go around and I hear some boom,
35:29boom, boom, boom in some cars and you're working and the people are crazy.
35:32How do you listen to something, though?
35:35St. James, here. All right. Thank you so much.
35:37Of course, right.
35:38Sorry about that.
35:39I think I've heard about this already. This is not the first time I'm calling about this.
35:42Okay. Sorry, thank you very much. I mean, it's all night and day, you know, night and day. Come back
35:49to o'clock in the morning and they'll make me jump off my bed. Okay, bye-bye.
35:53All right, sir. Sorry, you have to go through this. ASP, what can we do? Send James.
35:59Miss Husbands, I think you just have a lot of inconsiderate persons in Trina and Tobago because
36:08these people have parents, brothers, sisters who are not telling them anything.
36:14And a lot of the time, plenty of them just waited to leave the neighborhood to make the noise.
36:20So they didn't disturb their mothers and their fathers at home, but they disturb everybody else.
36:25I empathize and I sympathize with the caller because I, too, have a neighbor, so they pass through Cleaver Heights
36:35to get to Church West Trail.
36:36He has a green Honda CRV.
36:39Yes.
36:39All windows are down, caller. And I know that is what you're experiencing. All windows down.
36:44The speakers are on the back seat.
36:49The speaker, caller, if the police stop them and they only have the music on the back seat, but they're
37:02not playing or they're playing very loud, at that point in time, they are not committing any offense.
37:09But Trinidad and Tobago has the Sierra Roadblock. They get a friend's light. So the maxi man with the music,
37:16he just take off the bass. The man with the loud music, he just low it straight down because the
37:23officers, the person who has something illegal, he or she just turn her wrong.
37:29But what is the purpose of the loud music in the vehicle to begin with?
37:32I don't have a clue, Mr. Sosbos.
37:34You can't hear a horn. You can't hear any sort of siren. If something is happening, you're not hearing anything.
37:40So what is the purpose of this loud music?
37:42Yes, you want to feel the music, but come on.
37:45And on top of that is these songs that they play, Mr. Sosbos.
37:47With the obscene language, yes.
37:48So caller, I hear you. I hear you. And I will take it one step further.
37:54Remember, even EME tells you that they cannot measure a moving song.
37:59Yes. Because it's moving in the vehicle.
38:01Because it's moving.
38:02It's moving. It's not stagnant.
38:04It's just something that is plaguing us.
38:08And to stand here and say we have an immediate solution, I would be lying.
38:15And I'm not one to stand here and lie to you.
38:17But I will communicate with Inspector Bassant and we will see if we can have more road exercises.
38:24But if the person record it and show evidence of it, it's not in the moment.
38:30You know, even if you record it in the moment, remember, your phone would not be able to display the
38:34decibel level it was playing at.
38:37Because most of your volume will have is on your phone.
38:39Dammit if you don't.
38:39You know, people just have to be considerate.
38:42When you have your song, they have shows.
38:44Keep it going when they have it.
38:46There was a team of persons who when they put in their music, they go to the stadium in Malabar.
38:58And my husbands, when they put in their music and they open up Jesus.
39:05That's in what, Larry Gomes stadium?
39:06Yeah, Larry Gomes.
39:07Larry Gomes in Malabar.
39:08So, it is all over the country.
39:14All over.
39:15We have, to the caller, we do apologize.
39:17Welcome and good evening.
39:20Good afternoon.
39:21Good evening.
39:21Good evening, caller.
39:22I just want to thank the officer to be assisted living on my family.
39:27And I want to thank you too and I can be here with the kids.
39:34I thank you all very much.
39:36Thank you very much, officer.
39:38I call you, you're welcome.
39:40I appreciate that.
39:41I want to smile.
39:42You make a smile.
39:43Yes, sure.
39:44Yes, thank you, sir.
39:46That is the reason for the city person, the service that you'll provide.
39:50If we have more officers like yourself and others, it's not just you because you have other good officers as
39:56well,
39:56that if all of you, at least the majority of you, could do what you do in here,
40:02you would not believe how much persons will be willing to assist even further.
40:08It goes even beyond that too.
40:10It goes beyond that because you have to be able to really understand that human nature
40:14and understand that people just want help, you know.
40:17Yes.
40:17This is when sometimes I am overwhelmed.
40:19But you all get help too.
40:20But I know the people want the help.
40:22Yes.
40:22So I try my best.
40:24I say I'm going to call you.
40:25I will call you.
40:26And, you know, I call everybody that I said I would call them.
40:29When I don't get one of them, I make a note because I say that I would not allow anybody
40:33to embarrass me on the program.
40:34I say I didn't keep my promises.
40:37And notwithstanding, you say that I would call you.
40:39When you call them, they're still surprised, you know.
40:42And that just shows where the trust really is because I'm saying I'm going to call you.
40:46And when you call them, it's a surprise you're calling me.
40:48So I understand the group that is needed public.
40:51Imagine if the officers who are supposed to call to follow up with matters do that because that's their job.
40:58Yes, indeed.
40:59Right?
41:00A camera is not in front of their faces.
41:03If they do that, that will go so far.
41:05So far.
41:06And they don't understand that it goes farther.
41:09You're in that position for a reason.
41:12You're not there just, as we always say, just to collect a check and say away.
41:15And it should be with everything because there are people who call me.
41:18Sir, I signed in a farm application 15 years now.
41:21Sir, I do a CFC three months I've waited on it.
41:24Sir, I got in an accident.
41:26What going on with it?
41:27Nobody telling me anything.
41:28And every time I go to the officer, I'm not there.
41:30And I mean, if we serve our officer, I'm not there.
41:31Nothing is wrong with saying, what's your name, sir?
41:34Tell me the accident.
41:35Tell me the vehicle.
41:36What it was.
41:37We could pull the diary and check it.
41:38Come on, man.
41:39We could go on the first to the next and check it.
41:40Yeah, we have another caller.
41:42Caller, good evening.
41:43Yeah, hello.
41:44Hi, good evening, caller.
41:45Good evening, caller.
41:47Yes, good evening.
41:48Yes, Pete.
41:49Good evening, sir.
41:50My question to you, based on the comments you just made of the disaster, the inability of the police and
41:57EMA to do anything about these noises,
42:00how is it in other countries that they are able to do something about these noises,
42:06all these things?
42:08For the moving vehicles or someone who is playing music at their home or that thing?
42:14So we're talking about vehicles, moving vehicles.
42:44I don't know.
42:46Right in front there, and I hear it all the time as well.
42:50Same thing that we're talking about vehicles, car theft is prevalent all over.
42:54I listened to a reviewer recently from Canada, and he said he had to sell his Land Cruiser because they
43:01are stealing them as they arrest them.
43:03I will ask the caller, before the caller goes, what was the device or what was used that you saw
43:08in the said country that was assisting the officers in, of course, finding these people?
43:16I don't know.
43:17I don't know.
43:17That's what I'm saying.
43:18That's my question.
43:20If it is whatever they are using in these other countries, let's, I am just using the United States, for
43:26example.
43:27Why is it that we implement these things in our country?
43:31Why do we always have to continue using excuses and saying that we can't do anything, we can't do anything,
43:38I'm not bashing you, you know, I understand that they have their constraints.
43:44I'm saying that if we have to change the laws, we need to change the laws, but we can't just
43:49keep saying that we can't do anything about these things.
43:53All right.
43:54Thank you so much, Kolo.
43:55It's a bit difficult.
43:56Yeah, thank you, sir.
43:57No, but it's a bit difficult from just my comprehension of what is happening.
44:03I don't have the laws before me, right?
44:06Okay.
44:06Let me do our next example.
44:09Yes.
44:09And I really thank God for the opportunity to be in this position.
44:13I remember my first tongue meeting in the Western Division in St. James.
44:16It was just after Carnival.
44:17And every resident that lived within that Mokorapa Road stretch and that Roadbrook stretch that came to the meeting complained
44:30about the noise and the trucks.
44:32Yeah.
44:33Where do we put Carnival?
44:37Because we can't put these trucks, all right?
44:40Then some people could be on the bread line.
44:43You know, sign the position of the police and that day they bash the police, they bash the police, they
44:47bash the police.
44:48And I'm saying, where again could we put it?
44:51Now, how the laws are structured, the EMA could only measure a stationary sound.
44:56So, they have increased their enforcement of the variation to host events.
45:05One of these days I'm going to bring a variation on the set and I will show you all the
45:11contents.
45:12And I had one up today on me.
45:13Yes.
45:13The contents of the variation.
45:15And you would see how it is.
45:18But at the end of the day, the moving song would always create an issue.
45:23All right.
45:24We need to take that break.
45:25When we come back, we'll continue with more.
45:56For the investigations that matter most to TNT, turn to the team you trust.
46:01The TV6 News.
46:02We do the work to uncover the facts, ask the important questions, and report on the issues that impact your
46:08community and the nation at large.
46:10This is more than just news.
46:11It's accountability.
46:12The undisputed number one program in Trinidad and Tobago.
46:16Delivering the hard-hitting investigations you rely on.
46:19The TV6 News.
46:20Revealing facts.
46:21Provoking opinions.
46:22The TV5 News.
46:32So...
46:51Maybe you could afford to pay up to $22,500 in fines and lose your license permanently.
46:59No? Then don't drink and drive.
47:03A message from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
47:18And we are back. Just some information from the Children's Authority.
47:22And if persons could assist me, please ask you to send whatever information you may have.
47:28So anyone with information on Rihanna Fraser, 16, she was last seen in the Orobrook area.
47:32And, of course, anyone with information, please contact the authority at 996 or the police at 999.
47:42Also, Maya Taylor, 15, was last seen in the Beatham area.
47:46If anyone has information, once again, please contact the authority at 996 or the police at 999.
47:53Also, you could contact 555 or 800-TIPS.
47:57And Colleen Sylvan, 17, she was last seen in the Point 14 area.
48:02And she has been missing for a while.
48:05Quite a while.
48:05Quite a while.
48:06So, please, anyone, if you see any of these girls, please contact the authorities at 996 or the police at
48:12999 or 555-800-TIPS.
48:16We are back to the phone lines at this time.
48:18Good evening, caller.
48:20Good evening, sir.
48:23Good evening, sir.
48:27Mr. Officer?
48:28Yes, sir.
48:30Some time over the past two days, I think I would have seen some release with respect to where the
48:36police was meeting at Milkshire Houghton.
48:40Concerning Houghton for police officers.
48:46I want to take you back a little bit.
48:50During the 90s, I was at the Milkshire Houghton.
48:57I was appointed a cabinet to be the secretary of the administration committee.
49:05In those days, our four two leaders were much less likely to remember them.
49:11Margot Thompson and Mr. Chief.
49:16And I had planned at that time to allocate 10% of our housing units in different areas to the
49:26police.
49:26But what I wanted was to have enough police to be one of our housing feds.
49:34I had told them to come and collect this form.
49:42For the years I stand there after that, no one had ever come.
49:47No one came to collect this form.
49:50In order to see that you are making a second form, I don't know what you should give up because
49:54this is.
49:56Could you give me an update as to what is happening?
49:59I can't.
50:03Well, the association is really doing their best to assist officers with respect to housing.
50:12But the assistance, it depends, especially when you're going to HTC.
50:17Because we have a multi-pronged approach to housing, right?
50:20But everybody has a responsibility with respect to owning a home.
50:24For instance, we have meetings.
50:28We had some committees that were set up and we would have meetings with HTC from time to time with
50:33all the protective services.
50:35The police service, the fire service, the defense force, etc.
50:38However, the allocation is 10% to be shared between the protective services.
50:44So then, if a community has 100 houses, 10 ghosting members are the protective services,
50:50which must be shared between fire, police, defense force, which has the army and the coast guard, prisons.
51:01Yes.
51:03Who are leaving out?
51:03Anybody?
51:04Yeah, God.
51:05All of them would fall under the defense force.
51:08So it's the defense force, police, fire, prisons.
51:12So then we're looking at four organizations to share.
51:15You can't give somebody a half a house, right?
51:18That can't happen.
51:20So it might be one or two per community.
51:22That's one issue.
51:25We believe, and we have had the conversation, that the police service have the large amount of officers.
51:32So we would prefer that the ratio be looked at differently.
51:34Correct.
51:35So that we could have more officers' benefit.
51:37That is still up for discussion.
51:40The association is trying to partner with developers who have projects.
51:45But when the developers come, nobody wants to take a little nose shave to make a little less profit.
51:52Trinidad is a place, when you look at the housing market, when you have the deposit, you're too old.
51:57And when you're young, you have the years.
51:59But you ain't saved the money yet.
52:01So housing is a very, it's a very high and big ticket.
52:06There is a big ticket item.
52:07When you're a homeowner, you're nice, you know.
52:09Because there's such a status symbol based on the prices of houses.
52:13I have been among many development callers.
52:15And I can tell you, a lot of persons this bill right now, the grain weight is between $550 and
52:20$600 a square foot.
52:22So if you're building an $1,100 square foot house, that's $666,000.
52:28That same house, and that is land, complete, finish, water treatment, etc.
52:33That same house retails, so $1.4 million.
52:36When would you qualify for that?
52:38When we all come together, like Kumbaya, with five other people, I guess.
52:42We have another call.
52:43Caller, good evening.
52:44We are giving you the evening of the third of the living room.
52:49Good evening.
52:53You're broken up.
52:56You're breaking up.
53:05I'm saying with respect to the noise pollution and the vehicles, I think the police needs to get more legal
53:15authority to enforce that law.
53:19Because if you're getting continuous complaints about vehicles passing, you should be able to get the number of the vehicle.
53:26Actuary should be done.
53:27We get to that owner, the address, inspect that vehicle.
53:32If it has music in it, that sees the music and confiscate.
53:38I don't understand.
53:39This is a problem here and there.
53:41It continues happening.
53:43I'm saying the law needs to be amended to give the police more power to get to the owner of
53:50the vehicle, inspect the vehicle that has music in it, confiscate and charge them.
53:55I listen to the comments.
53:59All right, Cora.
54:00So let me take it on this road.
54:02I have a vehicle with music in it.
54:05I don't play my music loud.
54:07I purchase the vehicle like that.
54:09Right.
54:10Am I committing an offense?
54:11No.
54:12The driver, before me, commit an offense.
54:14No.
54:15But what he says is a vehicle number.
54:17Most of the times, my music isn't even on.
54:21Right.
54:21Because my day is that stressful.
54:23So let's say I'm stopped.
54:25I cannot be arrested or charged just because I have music in the vehicle.
54:29Because they can't have it and not use it.
54:31Going forward, even if you have the number.
54:34Okay.
54:35The vehicle pass along the street and make the noise and have the number.
54:37However, we need the persons who witness it to come to lead that evidence in court.
54:44And most times, I don't show.
54:46I ain't coming to court.
54:47That won't take too long.
54:48I went digging.
54:48It's a collaborative effort.
54:49But I went digging.
54:50And the gentleman who opened the conversation with the noise pollution, and he was saying,
54:57you know, in these foreign countries, they have things that you could use.
54:59So I said, you know what, let me see what he's talking about.
55:02And they stated in many cities, including in Europe, they are now using AI-powered noise cameras
55:08to identify excessively loud vehicles automatically, making them one of the most advanced tools available
55:14for traffic noise enforcement.
55:17Now, there is one that stands out to me that I think you all should pay attention to.
55:23It's acoustic arrays.
55:24Now, an array of microphones work together to pinpoint exactly where the sound originates,
55:32used by the researchers and transportation engineers, can distinguish one noisy vehicle
55:39from surrounding traffic.
55:42Well done.
55:43I love it.
55:44Yeah, but that sounds like money.
55:46Say that again, Mr. Spons.
55:48Yeah, but you all could find it.
55:49Let's raise some funds.
55:50And you all did a 5K.
55:51Let's do more 5Ks now.
55:52That was for the section, that wasn't for the TTPs, that is the section.
55:55No, but we could do more 5Ks so we could, you know.
55:58Well, the police service is not a profit-making organization.
56:01However, I would pass the information on to the Commissioner of Police,
56:05and they could probably do some research into it and probably do a proposal
56:08and hand it over to the government who would apply or bless us with the appropriate funds
56:16to get this program ongoing.
56:20All right, we have a final call.
56:21Caller, good evening.
56:23Good evening, my darling.
56:24You're looking pretty.
56:25Oh, thank you, ma'am.
56:26And Officer ESP here.
56:29I sit down here.
56:29Good evening, ma'am.
56:30And I just learned with laughing because so many things that they say to you,
56:34and I thought it was a lot of experiences.
56:36This music is the only one to hear.
56:38Boom, boom, boom, and it bam, bam, bam.
56:45Boom, boom, boom, bam, bam, bam.
57:11And it don't matter what you do.
57:12You cut the tail, they go to jail, they want to sell my next step coming in.
57:15They're not learning.
57:16So we get, I keep saying, we just have to go and have faith.
57:20Have faith, otherwise nobody else, nobody will do nothing.
57:23So, sweetheart, I just give you a quick recall.
57:26See, I'll say, be safe.
57:27Keep looking nicer, Mrs. Husband.
