00:00Hello, good afternoon. Another pretty damp day for many central southern areas today.
00:05There will be more in the way of sunshine to come on Saturday, however, a brief ridge of high pressure
00:10moving in.
00:11You can see that on the satellite picture, this clear weather waiting out in the wings for tomorrow.
00:16But for the time being, it has been a bit of a dull start and we've got this area of
00:19low pressure and weather front system pushing up from the south and west,
00:23bringing many central and southern areas a bit of a damp afternoon.
00:26Further north, though, it will remain relatively dry. A few showers still pushing in from the north and west on
00:31a northwesterly breeze,
00:33but actually plenty of dry and sunny weather for the bulk of northern Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland later on.
00:38For central areas of Wales, parts of northern England, it will remain quite damp through the day, pretty cloudy too.
00:44Now, there will be some brightness across the south and east into the afternoon,
00:47but there we do have a risk of some quite heavy, potentially thundery showers into this afternoon.
00:52So, a pretty mixed picture across the board and temperatures are much closer to average after the mild few days
00:58we had earlier on this week.
01:00Highs of 14 degrees in the south and east, but I think in the sunshine it won't feel too bad
01:04across the far north into this afternoon.
01:07It is going to be a chilly evening, though, across the far north and west.
01:10There is a risk of frost across these areas.
01:13Elsewhere, the risk of rain continues.
01:15Another damp night to come for parts of Wales, central areas of England, northeastern England as well.
01:19We've got quite brisk northerly winds as well pushing in from the North Sea here,
01:24so it's not going to be a particularly pleasant start to the day.
01:26As I said, a cold start to the day across north-western areas in particular,
01:31considerably milder actually across the south and east, where we hold on to slightly milder air
01:35and more in the way of cloud, wind and rain.
01:38So, a damp start to the day across the south and east, but it will get dry as the day
01:43moves on.
01:44We do have that ridge of high pressure moving in, so a bright start to the day for many western
01:48areas,
01:49parts of Wales, the south-west, seeing some of that sunshine by lunchtime,
01:52and it should arrive into the south-east through the afternoon, though.
01:55There is a risk the cloud could linger through much of the day across some far eastern coast
02:00with the risk of some drizzly rain.
02:01So, I don't think everyone's going to see a day of wall-to-wall sunshine on Saturday,
02:05but it is certainly going to be the better day of the weekend.
02:09After the chillier start, temperatures will be quite close to average, actually, into lunchtime,
02:1310 or 11 degrees at best across the south, 7 or 8 further north.
02:17Now, the next batch of wet weather pushes in for Saturday night and into Sunday.
02:22Initially, just one front, but then we see this low-pressure system bring strong winds
02:26and wet weather for Sunday as well.
02:29So, a very different day to come on Sunday.
02:31So, please make the most of any of the sunshine on Saturday if you can.
02:34Bye-bye.
