24 February - National Weather Forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth
Transcript
00:00Good morning. More in the way of sunshine to come across southern areas today, but it
00:04will remain mild through today and into the rest of the week. We've got mild Atlantic
00:09air across the UK moving up from the south to the west, though. A string of weather fronts
00:14will affect many northwestern areas through the next few days, moving very slowly more
00:19eastwards into other parts of the country. But for the time being, we're in the warm
00:24sector, so a mild day to come. Lots of cloud around for many northwestern areas, but there
00:29will be more in the way of brightness for southern and central areas of England. Some
00:33sunshine actually into this afternoon for much of the south coast, parts of Wales, central
00:37areas as well, and it will feel pretty pleasant in that sunshine. A warmer day today than
00:42yesterday. Highs of 15 degrees for some areas, quite widely 13 degrees, though, across many
00:49southern areas. Across the north and west, though, particularly across parts of western
00:53Scotland, it's going to be a pretty damp day. Persistent rain continuing to move in and brisk
00:58southerly winds. So a very different feel here to elsewhere across the UK. And the theme
01:03continues into this evening as that weather front continues to linger across these northwestern
01:08areas, affecting Northern Ireland, much of western Scotland, some southern areas of Scotland
01:11as well. It will bring some drizzly rain, some low cloud to parts of the high ground across
01:16southwestern Scotland, as well as parts of Wales into this evening. Elsewhere, though, a relatively
01:22clear night to come. Still quite brisk southerly winds, though, holding on to that milder air
01:27into Wednesday. Temperatures just falling as low as eight or nine degrees quite widely for many
01:32towns and cities. So it's mild by night as well as by day at the moment. And it's going to
01:38be
01:38the most mild on Wednesday. You can see temperatures up to 17 or 18 degrees into tomorrow. But across
01:45the northwest, further rain is expected. It's likely to push a little bit further east into parts of
01:50Wales, northwestern England. It's not expected to be particularly heavy for these areas, but cloudier and
01:56damper than today indeed. But highs of 15 or 14 degrees quite widely. As I said, we could see 17
02:02or 18 degrees in the
02:04south and east, which would make it the warmest day of the year so far, though not unusual for this
02:09time of year.
02:11Further wet weather to come into Thursday, but you can find all the details on that with the week ahead
02:15with Aidan on YouTube.
02:16Have a great day. Bye bye.
