00:00Hello, good evening. After an exceptionally hot day today, it will feel a little bit cooler
00:05across some southeastern areas into tomorrow as we've got a cold front sinking southwards.
00:10So we've had quite a difference northwest to southeast through our weather this week.
00:14We'll continue to have that difference throughout the rest of this week as that cold front sinks
00:19southwards, tending to fade away as it does. And then high pressure becomes more dominant for a
00:24time, introducing quite dry air for much of the UK. But you can see we're into slightly cooler air,
00:30not quite the hot air that's covering much of Western and Central Europe. So it will turn a
00:35little bit cooler through the rest of this week after an exceptionally hot day today.
00:40So this band of cloud and rain sinks southwards. Much of the rain will tend to fade away, though
00:44there is a risk of the odd showery burst across parts of Wales, the Midlands, northern areas of
00:49England, perhaps into the southwest overnight, but nothing persistent or exceptional.
00:54Further north, though, we'll see a drier interlude, but then showers push in from the north and west.
01:00Some of these will likely be quite heavy. So we've got cooler air up to the north,
01:04so that will make for a relatively fresh start to the day across more northern areas. Rurally,
01:08we could be down as low as four or five degrees. Big difference, though, down to the south and east,
01:13where it could be a little bit uncomfortable overnight tonight. Temperatures holding up in the
01:17high teens across some eastern areas of England as well. Should turn a little bit fresher,
01:22though, into Thursday night if that is too uncomfortable for you. This band of cloud and
01:27rain continues to move south and eastwards. Again, there's a risk of a few showery outbreaks
01:31of rain, but again, nothing really significant. Further north, a relatively dry day to come on
01:38Thursday. A few showers here and there, particularly across the north and west. Northwestern Scotland
01:43could see some very heavy showers throughout Thursday. They bring a risk of thunderstorms that could be
01:48quite persistent and long-lived as well. But anywhere south of the central belt should remain
01:53relatively dry through much of the day. Temperatures across more northern areas in the high teens,
01:58possibly the lower 20s. Further south, still a pretty warm day in the high 20s, but not as hot
02:05as it has been throughout today. Then that cloud continues to move southeastwards into Thursday
02:11evening. Again, a risk of the odd spot of rain across eastern areas of England through the latter part of
02:16Thursday night. And then it turns drier more widely as that area of high pressure builds in. We can see
02:22a few showers still pushing in across more northwestern coasts, perhaps across the northwest coast of
02:27England, north coast of Wales as well. But for most of us, it's going to be a dry and clear
02:32night.
02:33And with that cooler northwesterly wind, that cooler air mass over the UK, it will be a fresher
02:38night, which means temperatures rurally will fall down to single figures across the north,
02:43in the higher single figures further south as well. So it will be a more comfortable night.
02:48I think you'll notice the difference by Friday morning. There's going to be plenty of sunshine
02:52out there on Friday, particularly across southern and eastern areas. Further west,
02:57we continue to see this risk of showery rain. It doesn't look as heavy as it will have been
03:02throughout Thursday. But just about anywhere across parts of Scotland could see a shower. Again,
03:07parts of northern England down towards the Pennines, parts of northern Ireland could see the odd
03:12shower. But further south, it's going to be a dry and bright day with light winds too. So temperatures
03:18will be in the low to mid-twenties, possibly reaching 26 or 27 degrees across the south. And
03:25east, so cooler again compared to Thursday. And the north, a very similar feel to what we will have
03:30had through much of this week. But I think a good amount of dry and bright weather in between any
03:35of
03:35those showers as well. The shower risk does continue across more northwestern areas into this weekend.
03:42But further south, it should stay dry, bright and relatively sunny with temperatures around the low
