00:00Good morning. Another fairly disappointing day to come for many of us, unfortunately.
00:04But there will be some dry weather around.
00:07We do have low pressure still in charge of our weather, though,
00:10with a series of weather fronts wrapped around that area of low pressure,
00:13bringing spells of rain.
00:14And adding into that, we've also got this cold air moving in from the north and east
00:18that will bring an increasing risk of snow into Friday.
00:22But for now, outbreaks of rain for many northern areas,
00:24parts of Northern Ireland, eastern areas of Scotland in particular,
00:27that rain will extend into Wales across some southern areas.
00:30You could see some heavier bursts in here.
00:32But drier weather across the southwest later and across central areas first thing.
00:37Far north of Scotland, we'll also see some fairly dry weather,
00:39particularly compared to how it has been lately.
00:42But an increasing risk of snow showers into this evening
00:45as it is turning colder across many north and eastern areas in particular.
00:49So highs of just four or five degrees, actually, for many parts of Scotland
00:52as well as northeastern areas of England.
00:54Quite a different story, though, as we're further south and west of this rain band,
00:58still in the mild air across parts of South Wales and southwest England.
01:01Quite a brisk westerly wind, though, but some sunshine around,
01:04so it's not going to feel too bad if you do catch a drier spell here this afternoon.
01:09However, through this evening, the colder weather becomes more dominant.
01:12We've got snow and ice warnings in force across northern areas of England
01:14as well as Scotland.
01:16Snow showers bring a risk of icy stretches on untreated roads
01:19as well as across the south.
01:21We've got a lot of recent rain that could bring a risk of icy stretches
01:24overnight and into Friday morning
01:26because we're expecting quite a cold start on Friday morning
01:29across many northern areas.
01:30Across the south, we've still got somewhat milder air
01:33and a lot of cloud and some rain around as well.
01:36So it's not going to be frosty across southern areas,
01:38but I think many areas of northern England, northern Ireland,
01:41much of Scotland in particular,
01:42will be a cold and frosty start to the day.
01:45And as I said, a risk of ice as well.
01:48So please check our website and app for more details on that.
01:52Now, an area of rain sinks southwards,
01:54bringing a risk of snow to the high ground further south throughout Friday.
01:58A drier day to come, though, for northern Ireland and Scotland.
02:02A risk of some snow showers, particularly across the coast,
02:04and a brisk northerly wind brings a very chilly feel to the day on Friday.
02:09Highs of just four or five degrees once again,
02:11but it will feel colder than that in the wind.
02:14That cold feel really sinking into more southern areas
02:17is going to be a pretty disappointing day across the south.
02:20A lot of cloud and rain, some hill snow,
02:23and a cold feel for many southern areas of Wales and England
02:26into Friday afternoon.
02:28However, things will change into the weekend for one day only.
02:32There is some sunshine on the cards for Valentine's Day,
02:35so make sure you make some plans to enjoy that.
02:37But otherwise, please make sure you stay tuned to the forecast
02:40with snow moving in for the rest of the weekend.
02:43See you again soon. Bye-bye.
