00:00well finally there's light at the end of the tunnel as far as the cold air is concerned but
00:11I'll tell you what for snow lovers this is what I would call a waste of cold air we've had plenty
00:17of cold air now for the Midwest it hasn't you have a pretty deep snowpack but for you know parts of
00:23the Northeast especially the I-95 corridor Boston New York City Philadelphia you know usually this
00:30isn't the time of the year for snow for you it's usually January into February but still it's been
00:35cold enough for snow and we haven't really had any at least not in the 95 of significance you know
00:41where we have had snow the snow central in December two areas the upper Midwest look at this area
00:48Chicago Milwaukee Marquette and then also two snow storms in Richmond and Petersburg Virginia this
00:55is a lot of snow for you for this time of the year and I'll tell you what northern New England the ski
01:01resorts up here they are very happy to have this much snow on the ground this early but certainly
01:07Virginia you've had your fair share of snow now which that first snow that first storm that we've
01:13been telling you about we haven't highlighted much here on the feed I'm going to look a little beyond
01:17that but I do want to show you the snow that's coming Tuesday night into Wednesday there it is
01:21should be mostly north of Chicago mostly north of Detroit although there can be a little snow
01:27but the areas that are going to do well northern Minnesota Duluth the upper peninsula of Michigan
01:32Green Bay three to six inches this lighter shade here of three to six inches and then there'll be spots
01:38that get a little more than that um so again the rich get richer as far as the snow is concerned
01:45across the Midwest now we've been talking about that late week uh storm a little clipper that could
01:52produce snow that looks more like flurries as we move forward here but there's going to be one more
01:58last one last shot of cold and that's going to be coming in over the weekend and that's the one I
02:05don't want to keep I feel like sometimes with snow I'm like Lucy holding the football for for Charlie
02:11Brown and I keep snatching it away but I do believe the last shot of cold is our chance for more of a
02:17widespread snow I have a pretty cool map here I was looking at this earlier and I think this kind of
02:23shows you where all the cold air is I mean this is a lot of cold air in northern Canada the northwest
02:28territories tons of cold air but as I play this forward you could see the shots of cold air coming
02:33here here's the one coming tonight into tomorrow you see across the upper Midwest there it is
02:39Tuesday night in the Wednesday there's a shot of cold air coming in that's our storm that we're
02:45tracking tonight in the Wednesday look at the cold coming Wednesday evening Thursday morning now
02:50you have a weak storm that's going to be coming across the area Thursday into Friday from the
02:56Midwest toward the northeast uh not much cold air with that all right it's not a reinforced it just
03:02keeps the cold air locked in but I don't think there's going to be a lot of snow with that
03:05I talked about the possibility of that producing snow from the Midwest to the mid-Atlantic Thursday
03:10Friday or it just being a front there's no wave on it and it's just flurries looks like that one's going
03:16to be flurries but then look at this is the last shot of cold coming in this setup here it comes
03:23Friday Saturday Sunday in the Monday this is very cold air coming this weekend and it looks like it's going
03:32to be accompanied by a storm all right let me show this to you here as we move forward Friday morning
03:37let's step right to Friday morning this is the European so this is the key here's this first piece
03:42of energy that I was watching yesterday this is going to produce a little bit of light snow and flurries
03:47across the Midwest and into the mid-Atlantic I don't think it's going to be a whole lot
03:51um you can let me show it to you on the surface map you can see it a little better see it's right in
03:57here see right in here Thursday night in the Friday little band coating to an inch of snow
04:03right in this zone here right in here from Illinois Iowa into the mid-Atlantic maybe a coating to an
04:11inch of snow enough to make things slippery but it's not going to be a big storm and you can just
04:16see why when you look at the upper air pattern associated with it see this little piece of energy
04:21coming across Iowa Illinois Indiana it just doesn't it's just fast moving so it just doesn't have
04:29enough time to produce a lot of snow again maybe a coating to an inch now the last shot of cold air
04:35and I just showed you that on the map here it comes and it begins with this right in here you've
04:41got this upper you've got this core of cold right here across Manitoba this is going to be Friday and
04:48now you have this piece of energy coming along on the southern side of this now the deeper this is
04:54the better chance you have snow if it's if it's going to be like its predecessors where it just
04:59comes quickly in the flow then all this is is an Arctic boundary there's some snow and flurries but
05:04there's nothing significant with it that's what that's what are the possibilities now show you the
05:11modeling on it this is European watch it see European look at this see how that digs right there
05:16that's Sunday late Saturday night now that's a lot of energy this would watch this round the bend
05:23too as we get into Sunday right there look at the depth of that trough now if that's right
05:29you're going to get you're going to get accumulating snow in here probably I know those that love snow in
05:36New York City and Philadelphia you're not going to be happy it's probably west of you for those that
05:40hate the snow you'll be happy with me but if the European was right and this trough really digs and
05:45not only does it digs it becomes what I call negatively tilted tilted from northwest to southeast that's a
05:53snow producer watch the other model I do like to look at the UK met model a lot look at the difference
06:01in the model this is Sunday morning UK met European European UK met that would suggest this is just a
06:12frontal boundary and that's it look at the surface map on this this is the UK met for the for the
06:17weekend see it it's not as strong with this so there's a little band of snow in here a little bit
06:22not much it's maybe a coating to an inch and that would be it why because it doesn't have the dip in the
06:28jet stream but the European a lot beefier the European looks like a dangerous if this digs like
06:35this this is European watch this Sunday morning Sunday afternoon Sunday evening I mean that would
06:43be a significant amount of snow especially across parts of the northeast and interior in New England
06:48that'll be Saturday Saturday night regardless of the strength of the storm one last shot of cold
06:55the air comes Sunday in a Monday
