AccuWeather's Bernie Rayno warns of more cold air in addition to the risk of snow and ice for parts of the Midwest and Northeast later this week.
Transcript
00:00Well, it not only feels a lot like winter from the Midwest to the Northeast, it looks like it too,
00:05with snow on the ground and we have more cold coming and the opportunity for additional snow
00:14from the Mid-Atlantic to parts of the Northeast later this week. All right, here's the setup.
00:19Our one storm leaves tonight along the East Coast. We get some tranquility from the Midwest
00:25toward the Northeast, but there's going to be another surge of cold air coming on in
00:30across the Midwest Wednesday. Then that front moves south and east through the Northeast
00:36as we move into Wednesday night and Thursday. The southern tail of that boundary stalls in the
00:43Southeast and then we expect a storm to form along that boundary on Thursday. It's going to produce
00:49another chilly soaking rain into the Southeast. And then here's where it gets tricky as we get
00:56into Friday. Where does that storm go? Does it come up the coast or does it go out to sea? It all hinges
01:03on the jet stream that's diving southward. Does it push it out to sea? If it does, there won't be any
01:09snow, but it certainly will be cold into the weekend. Or if it's guided up the coast, we could be looking
01:14at accumulating snow and perhaps some ice from the Mid-Atlantic in the parts of the Northeast.
01:21While much of the evidence suggests the storm moves out to sea, it's way too early to call off
01:29the snow and ice. Well, at least right now it is.
