AccuWeather's Bernie Rayno warns of multiple rounds of clipper storms and frigid air in store for the north-central and northeastern parts of the U.S. from this week into next week.
00:00We have three clipper storms and a ton of cold air from the north central United States into the northeast as we go through the rest of this week.
00:10All right, let's talk about clipper number one.
00:13It'll be pushing across the Dakotas on Tuesday, lakes Tuesday night, then across New England late Tuesday night into Wednesday.
00:21Most areas will get one to three inches of snow with this, but some spots you can see the darker blue shading on the snow map will get over three inches of snow.
00:28That's going to cause some major travel problems.
00:31It's mostly north of, let's say, cities like Chicago and Detroit.
00:37Behind that storm, another shot of cold air, another shot of wind, and then that sets us up for the next clipper.
00:44That's going to be Thursday night into Friday.
00:46Now, this one has the potential of being a little farther south.
00:50That would cause snow in cities like Minneapolis, Des Moines, Chicago, Indianapolis, and perhaps Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
01:00At this point, we're not sure whether it's just a front where it's a coating to an inch or two or whether there's a few inches of snow.
01:07But regardless, that system goes by.
01:10Guess what?
01:10Another shot of cold as we head into the weekend.
01:14There will be another clipper over the weekend that will be a little farther north.
01:17But all of these clippers continue to do one thing.
01:21Keep the cold in the north, central, and northeastern United States right into the middle part of this month.
