" A blue and blue mix up" at a police operation in a warehouse in El Soccorro. That is how DCP Curt Simon termed an incident that occurred today. Police Commissioner Alister Guevarro later visited the scene of the warehouse bust to get clear answers.

But several sources at the warehouse where the operation took place and Customs sources are dispelling the version by the police of what really went on at the Pas Trinidad Limited warehouse in El Soccorro earlier today.

00:00This was the police media release sent out this afternoon by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service following a report circulating on social media involving special branch officers and officers from the Central Division at past Trinidad Limited warehousing in El Cicoro earlier today.
00:15The TTPS said, open quote, based on intelligence received two operational arms of the TTPS responded simultaneously which was consistent with the urgency and sensitivity of the information available at the time, close quote.
00:28However, sources of the bond and custom sources are dispelling the narrative by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service about what really transpired at the bond.
00:37Sources in the know and who saw what transpired told TV6 News that a barrel that came in from New York last week had been unstuffed a few days ago.
00:44Attempts, they said, were made to contact the customer over the last few days to clear the barrel, but he never answered.
00:51Sources who were present at the warehouse said that three officers of the Central Division showed up heavily armed and said they came to see the manager as they had information about a particular cargo that was under investigation and they came to collect the barrel in question.
01:04Sources said that before any cargo can be cleared, customs has to be present for the examination of the cargo.
01:10A source at the bond said that the barrel had been scanned and was deemed suspicious in nature and only two senior persons at the bond had known about the suspicious barrel.
01:18The three officers claimed due to the state of emergency that they had authority to remove the barrel without the intervention of customs.
01:26However, the junior officer at the bond on duty later alluded seniors at the bond about the situation.
01:32Sources told TV6 News that a senior at the bond later contacted the control of customs about the situation and officers of the customs and preventative branch were dispatched.
01:41Sources say when they got to the location, the three officers were detained in a room and later officers of the special branch arrived and cordoned off the area.
01:49Customs sources told TV6 News that police officers have no jurisdiction at a bond to clear any cargo or ask for any suspicious cargo without customs being present as part of the exercise.
02:01Following the incident, Commissioner of Police, Alistair Guevara, arrived on the scene and spent some time this afternoon at the warehouse along with other senior police officers.
02:09Sources say that the suspicious barrel did not contain guns, but rather a quantity of marijuana.
