02:08Officers from the Princestown Police Station and the Princestown Regional Corporation today
02:12began work to restore peace and comfort to residents of Fairfield by cleaning up an area
02:19nicknamed Death Valley.
02:22Utilizing a Corporation backhoe, the project, overseen by a dozen officers on the ground,
02:28saw garbage being cleared from a known secluded dumping ground.
02:32But it's not just garbage that's left along the isolated roadway.
02:36It's bodies as well.
02:38Just last month, a murdered Princestown man was found nearby decomposing and tied to a
02:44tree.
02:45In a statement, the TTPS says the negative label of calling a previously peaceful area
02:50Death Valley is something they want to change.
02:54And so they are working with other agencies to clear overgrown, derelict premises and
02:59any place that could afford would-be offenders a space for dumping.
03:03Speaking with TV6 News, President of the Princestown Police Station Council says the
03:09remote area has been the location of robberies and other criminal activities.
03:14Oral Sukhnanan, President of the Community Group, says this initiative is one of the
03:19first planned for in and around Princestown.
03:22And they will work with the public to continue identifying other areas in need of urgent
03:28attention.
