Police officers at the Central Police Station in Port of Spain and their next door neighbours in the Police Administration Building on Sackville Street were virtually left in the dark overnight into Tuesday morning.

So what's the reason for this outage that clearly could have posed a security risk to officers?

00:33Sources say that the Central Police Station's generator also failed to kick in as the generator

00:39Overnight into this morning, the situation remained pretty much the same as officers
00:44changed shift, often during a night of darkness.
00:47The darkness offering little refuge to do meaningful work.
00:52Sources told TV6 News that a police station without any kind of power and in darkness
00:56also posed a security threat to the safety of police officers at the station.
01:01TV6 News contacted the Central Police Station via phone today to enquire if power had been
01:06restored, but calls to their number went unanswered.
01:10Sources also told TV6 News that just around the corner at Sackville and Edward Streets,
01:14the TTPS Police Administration building also had a lengthy power outage.
01:19TV6 News messaged Commissioner of Police Eula Herwood-Christopher enquiring about the probable
01:24cause of the power outage and if there was any possibility that the TTPS had not paid
01:29their electricity bill.
01:31However, she did not respond to our WhatsApp messages.
01:34Attempts to reach Inspector Gideon Dixon of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social
01:38and Welfare Association on the issue were also unsuccessful.
