The U.S. Embassy has confirmed the presence of U.S 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit helicopters as that unit is involved in joint training exercises in this country with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.
00:00The U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain says the training between the U.S. Marine Corps, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, and the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force is taking place across Trinidad and Tobago in both urban and rural environments, with operations scheduled during daytime and after dark.
00:17And as videos have been circulating online of U.S. military Osprey helicopters over the skies above Trinidad, the U.S. Embassy showed photos on its Facebook page as it said on Wednesday that several of the joint military exercises in Trinidad and Tobago taking place this week from November 16th to November 21st incorporate 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit helicopters.

00:44The U.S. Marines website says that the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit is a marine air ground task force that provides strategic speed and agility, ensuring U.S. Marines are forward deployed and prepared to respond and protect U.S. national security interests around the globe.
01:00That 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit is deployed in the area under the U.S. Southcom, which has consistently said on their Facebook page that U.S. military forces are deployed to the Caribbean in support of the U.S. Southern Command Mission, Department of War-Directed Operations, and the U.S. President's priorities to disrupt illicit drug trafficking and protect the homeland.
